For the blind audition, Kelly turning for me

as early as she did, that kind of surprised me.

It was a reassurance, you know?

I just had to, like, keep singing.

I didn't even look at her while she turned around.

I just looked at the crowd, looked at the crowd.

I chose Kelly 'cause she was fighting for me like a mama.

He turned with, like, five seconds on the clock.

I was like, okay.

Ali: When I stepped out onto the stage

for the blind audition, I just felt anxious.

That was cool.

But I-I don't know, I just felt like I was meant to be there.

I wear two hearing aids. I was born deaf.

Oh, my God. That's crazy.

That's insane.

Your runs were so intricate

and cool and different.

That's a gift.

I just wanted to get my voice heard,

and I'm so blessed to have a platform like this

to be able to do that.

My dad is a musician, and I grew up seeing that,

and I've seen the good parts and I've seen the bad parts.

But something that my dad definitely taught me is, like,

don't do it because you want that next paycheck.

Do it because you love it.

When it comes to music, although my ears may not work

as well as everyone else's, that's okay.

That's okay. There's a way to work around it.

My favorite thing is, like, to listen to the type of music

that makes you feel things and, like, got that deep bass.

And that's basically how I learn a song, is I feel it.

But music is more than just listening to it.

You want to cry, you want to laugh, you want to smile.

You want to be like, "Oh, this is a good song."

And I want to be able to be that musician.

So I'm ready to do my own music thing, just like my dad.

He's probably my biggest musical inspiration ever,

and I-I just want to make him proud

and do it because I love it.

I was literally going to the ladies room,

and on the other side of the wall, I could hear someone

just, like, warming up like crazy.

Oh, that probably was me.

Yeah. I was like, I don't know who that was.

But yeah, I heard -- I was like, he was getting ready

for some Allen Stone.

So I gave Ali and D.Smooth "Unaware" by Allen Stone

because, of my whole team, they're the most soulful.

Ali -- you cannot tell she's had any issues with her hearing.

Like, she hears things so differently.

My family, we did struggle growing up, financially,

to that my whole life.

Growing up, my hustles was cutting grass, selling candy.

I was ever even on "The Late Late Show."

And that was in the '20s and they didn't have

What do you think about singing "I Told You So" by Randy Travis?

I never sang country before.

Anytime you see, like, singer/songwriter

on somebody's lane that they're in, you kind of go,

"I can throw anything in the world at 'em."

Blake's really looking to pull something from me

and maybe help me develop a muscle

I've never really worked out before.

I've heard you sing one time.

Man, I thought you sounded

like you could literally do about anything.

Carlos: Three, four years ago, I couldn't imagine

having the courage to put myself out there

and step on stage for that blind audition.

* Shine it on my heart *

* So you could see the truth *

Everything that I had done up to that point

led up to this moment.

* And I could change the world *

When I got those chair turns, that was the validation

I needed for myself to say,

"You know what? You do belong here."

When I see someone like you that I've never heard

anything like before, that's what gets me excited.

I'd be damn proud to have you on my last team on "The Voice."

Growing up watching the show,

I always pictured myself on Blake's team.

He knows what it takes to win, and it being his last season,

I wanted to get every morsel of his knowledge.

I knew that Blake was the right choice.

Blake: I paired Carlos and Grace together.

I think both of these artists can deliver a message,

and that's key to singing any country song.

Grace has a very powerful voice.

She's very authentic-sounding, super country.

She's got a little twang in there, and I just love it.

Carlos says he's never sang country music before ever,

but you're having a hard time convincing me of that

'cause he's got a Vince Gill type range,

and it's super impressive.

I'm grateful that Blake had enough trust in me

to give me this song.

And I have a big task ahead of me,

but I'm no stranger to adversity.

Back in 2020, I was in Seattle, working at a church

as a music director, and I lost my job.

My wife and I had to drive across the country

to North Carolina to move back in with my parents.

It felt like everything I worked so hard for

to get up to that point had been for nothing.

But with the support of my wife and my family,

they encouraged me to really pursue music.

I took that leap of faith, and I think back,

what if I had never went through that adversity before?

I may not be here.

Blake: Everybody's singing great. I just feel like, Carlos,

you have to sing more of the lead melody

than you are at some point.

Okay. It just doesn't feel like an even split at all to me.

I just think you need to find one more part

in that chorus y-you can sing the lead on.

And you got the tag, together, break, again. Yeah.

I could never do that, what you guys are doing.

Growing up in Michigan, I was a tomboy, so, like, my dad and I,

our father-daughter bonding time was driving to go fishing.

We would listen to country the whole way there.

This song came on a lot, and I absolutely fell in love with it.

I am a country artist.

I've always known what I wanted to do ever since I was little.

I was so excited moving to Nashville to pursue my career.

But I miss home a lot.

Using missing home, taking that emotion

and putting it into the song

is what's gonna just push it over the edge.

Yes! Way better.

Is it better? Way better arrangement.

Grace: Carlos does have more experience than I do.

His voice is amazing, and the way that he interprets songs,

no matter what genre, is mind-blowing.

I think to make it to the knockout round,

I really have to just work harder.

and get it mapped out.

After the blind auditions, I actually got engaged,

which was super exciting.

My fiancé's name is Bennett.

We met on an online dating app,

and he's just my favorite person.

He's my best friend.

I'm excited to get to share this moment with my new family,

and this is something that I get to talk about at my wedding,

like, "Hey, I was on 'The Voice.'

You can see me there."

Your audition, what you did with "I Say a Little Prayer,"

and then you telling me that you also wanted to dance.

Yes. Mm-hmm. Yes.

I've had an idea.

There's a version of this song that starts quite chill,

and it allows you to show off before you dance.

Okay. For sure.

Let's start with, like, Kate starting it. Mm-hmm.

Then, Tiana, you come in and sing,

Okay. And then try and do the harmony thing

and make sure that they're really tight,

'cause it will make those harmony moments

Niall: What I love about Kate is

she has the ability to make any song her own.

She knows who she is.

She knows the type of artist she wants to be.

I think it's very easy to get excited

The only time I ever get nervous

I was just really saying those things to say,

like, sometimes when you guys turn to each other

and you guys are trying to find the note, it feels strained.

So, like, do more responding lines,

'cause those sound good.

And, Nari, really for you, I'm just thinking like,

you should just go crazy.

How? 'Cause I don't want to get to a point

where I'm overdoing it.

Yeah, I would say don't shrink yourself ever.

When it comes out of Chloe's voice to your voice,

And I think, Chloe, you've got a full hold on

Chance really just showed me that me being me is enough.

As a professional athlete in track and field,

and I just feel like both guys have all of that in abundance.

It's really crazy to me to think that I'm doing a rehearsal,

hanging out with Niall Horan.

And literally two weeks ago I was at home,

and I just failed my permit test.

Like, I literally don't even have a permit

or a license or anything.

Like, I'm 15.

But I'm studying up to try and make it next time

when I get back home and hopefully can get my car

and not have to be picked up by all my friends all the time.

My mom is my teacher at home.

Being homeschooled, I like that there's more freedom

to work your own schedule,

and if I can complete all my assignments quickly,

I have more time to focus on songwriting

and music and production and sound design and engineering

and things like that that I really am passionate about.

Niall: I do see a lot of myself in Ryley Tate.

He's a young, excitable 15-year-old kid

on one of the biggest TV shows on the planet.

And I was like that.

He had the place on their feet.

Ryley: I could not believe it.

I literally was genuinely pinching myself, like,

"Is this actually happening?"

My head nearly exploded.

It's so nice to hear a 15-year-old

have that confidence in their own ability.

I'm gonna have to go with Niall, 100%.

Ryley Tate -- he's gifted way beyond his years.

He's a real musical dude.

Ryley Tate, that was amazing.

You could do with ramping the song.

Before COVID, I was in this "Jersey Boys" tribute concert.

I lived out of a suitcase for like three and a half years.

I kind of was like, "I am doing what I'm supposed to do."

We're here at Notre Dame.

When COVID hit, the entire live-performance industry died.

I had to figure out a way to make money.

I got a job in the TV-commercial world,

and I started to get coffees for directors,

you know, whatever they needed.

I was thrilled because I was able to make my rent.

No.

The light of the dream was dimming more and more

as each year passed...

Well, first one in, last one out.

...until my blind audition.

It just reminded me, like, "Hey, dude, you're a singer.

You should sing."

On my blind, I was very nervous.

I hadn't performed in years on a stage.

I was like, "Whoa! I haven't done this in a while."

Niall: Michael B. -- he's an absolute diamond of a guy,

incredible singer.

We are going to do magic things together.

I was just so grateful that he turned around.

I really needed this, 'cause this was the final straw.

I was gonna, like, hang my hat on performing, honestly.
