because of the fires that have burned witches.

It felt absolutely appropriate to Lasher's power

and his control of those elements.

because she has been shot by one of the witch hunters

and she's bleeding out, so she's very, very weak,

almost as if she's willing to let herself go.

She's aware of the cycle of nature,

of the way we return to the earth,

and she doesn't know how to save herself

as she lies there and bleeds in the forest.

She's almost ready to go herself.

Lasher says, "Not you. Not yet."

So there is this strange tunnel.

Rowan has been seeing it since the pilot.

She doesn't know what this is,

and in this moment in the woods,

Lasher is saying to her, "Look deeper,"

and she begins to understand

that this tunnel is a place of knowledge.

What language is this?

She needs to go inside of herself

in order to be able to try to heal herself

and heal this gunshot wound that she has.

He opens a door

and leads her into Suzanne's cottage.

Now, we should understand

that this is happening inside of her mind,

that all of this is ancestral knowledge

that is there inside of her, it's psychological.

She is on this journey that will teach her how to heal.

This episode is full of

astonishingly terrible revelations for Cip.

It's Albrecht who's working with Cortland,

and Cip begins to understand it's because

they both have an interest in

the fulfillment of this prophecy.

He's piecing together all sorts of stories.

We see pieces of Mayfair history.

Cortland is Rowan's father.

Cortland impregnated Deirdre because he wanted to

bring Rowan into the world, the 13th witch,

because Rowan is going to be the fulfillment

of this prophecy.

What did you just see?

Lasher?

Rowan is already pregnant.

We know that, but there's something about

this moment with Lasher that changes things.

She doesn't understand yet that somehow,

by being with him, he has entered into this baby

in her body, and is going to be born,

as the prophecy has said.

What is happening?

He's run out the clock, essentially,

by keeping her mind in a state of confusion,

Lasher has had time to be born.

What he offers is power.

What Rowan is responding to in this moment with this child

is the knowledge that this child,

Lasher, gives her power.

It's really interesting to watch this character

that I hope we love and feel for

and feel as this great empath, Ciprien,

suddenly turn into this other kind of person.

She bets on herself and her own power,

and I hope we're asking ourselves,

"Will she use it well? Was Cip right?"

we're asking ourselves as we go into the writer's room

in Season 2.
