for a majority of my life, the past decade.

I'm Grace West,

and I'm a dog walker in Nashville.

I walk dogs of all kinds.

I've had some purebred labs

that have definitely dragged me down the street,

so I've had a few dogs walk me.

Dog walking is a super-flexible job,

which I need 'cause I need to be able

to write songs every day.

I grew up in Canton, Michigan, and at 12 years old,

after one of the singing competitions I was in,

I got contacted by a publishing company in Nashville,

and I've been signed as a songwriter since I was 16.

It's one of the most vulnerable things you can do.

You're just like, "Here's all my secrets.

Here's everything about me, and I want to write about it."

I made the move to Nashville last year.

My parents support it 100%. To be honest with you,

I don't know what I would do without them.

But they are both in the medical field.

Like, medical field jump to, like, music industry...

There's not a lot of connections going on.

Yeah. I'm lost half the time. Yeah.

I just carry heavy stuff and...

I've always loved this show.

It was a family tradition to sit on the couch

after dinner and just watch.

This is like a dream to me.

It's surreal. It's so exciting.

It is so hard to break out in Nashville.

Everybody there is doing the same thing.

And it has been hard to be taken seriously

because of how much younger I am than everybody else.

The teams are filling up,

so I have to go out there and I have to give it my all.

But I was brought up on traditional Irish music,

which obviously led me to country music.

Yeah. And that's the kind of lane that I've fallen into

and spent a lot of time in Nashville

writing songs of my own with country writers.

I moved to Nashville when I was 17.

I actually hear Pam Tillis in your voice. Yeah.

As you look back now,

what's it like doing your last blinds?

I don't normally get wrapped up in, like, these moments,

but when I hit my button for Grace,

who ended up being the last person

that I'll ever do that for, I was like, "Oh."

I felt myself... I was like,

"Oh, my God, I can't believe I just said that."

I kind of got emotional, you know? Right.

And, you know, I knew coming into this

I was trying to take all the moments in,

and it's going by so fast, so when I said that out loud,

it was like, it became real.

Well, it's been fun, buddy.

A lot of good memories.

It's tough being a single musician dad.

Lots of weekends, being gone late playing gigs.

and I'm 29 years old.

My daughter, Saela... She's 3 1/2.

And to save money, we live in an RV

on my parents' property.

It's challenging living with my daughter

in a 300-square-foot RV, but we have a lot of fun.

It's kind of like a sleepover, in a way.

I've been full-time playing at bars and restaurants

just to pay the bills.

I definitely hope "The Voice" can catapult my career

and help me to provide for my daughter.

These four coaches represent the drive, the ambition,

the success that you need to pursue music.

It feels incredible and scary,

but this is definitely a huge opportunity for me to break out

just a little bit of dynamic throughout

and that's the reason why I didn't turn personally.

is what makes an artist.

Finding a way to, like, pace yourself through the song

and show different elements of, like,

what you can do vocally is important.

I do perform a lot. I gig every weekend.

My name is Katie Beth Forakis.

I'm from a small town called Savannah, Tennessee,

and I'm 25 years old.

Singing and music has always been part of my life,

especially with my mom being the piano player at our church.

So I just kind of assumed the role of the singer

to go next to her.

I have three younger sisters,

and my mom took every opportunity to tell us

that we were the most special things in her life.

When I was 15 years old, my mom passed away.

She had some medical issues going on,

but this was pretty unexpected.

It was the hardest thing that I've ever gone through,

still to this day.

She was the glue that held our entire family together.

All of a sudden, I'm raising four girls by myself,

from 15 down to 3.

And, uh, we had a hard time sometimes,

but I have some special girls,

including this one.

Me being the oldest, I kind of assume the role

as junior parent,

taking kids to practice or being the person there

when they had their dance recital.

It was hard to have to assume that position

at such a young age when I feel like

I still needed that there for me, too.

But I'm honored that I got to be that for my family.

She's a lot like her mom in that, uh,

she was always trying to help people,

and, uh, she loved to sing herself.

To see her taking these bold steps

and doing this on her own is, uh...

It's special.

And I'm just so proud of you. Thank you.

And I know your mom would be, too.

For my blind audition,

The song talks about losing someone close to you.

I wish that my mom could be here,

but I know that she's with me.

and take it to a, you know, bigger place

and you just kept it there nicely.

and completely controls their falsetto

for effectively 90 seconds.

I was completely emotionally connected to you as a singer.

I was looking around before I turned,

Hi, everyone. My name is Dasha.

I'm 21 years old,

and I am originally from northern Russia,

but now I live in Los Angeles, California.

People in America always get surprised and shocked

when I tell them I'm from northern Russia.

"Where?!"

The same reaction every time.

Growing up in Russia was freezing cold

because we have winters that last seven months a year.

Summers are okay. My whole family is very musical.

My granddad used to play drums.

My mom is a wonderful singer.

My house was always filled with music.

I did "The Voice" in Russia when I was 17.

I grew up watching "The Voice," and I was like,

"Oh, my God. I want to do that."

And "The Voice" of America is on the next level.

If I told myself at 12,

"You're gonna be living in Los Angeles,

you're gonna be doing 'The Voice' of America,

you're gonna be working with, like, the biggest musicians

in the world," excuse me!

She would say, "Are you insane?

Have you lost your mind?

You're lying."

My whole life, I've been breathing music.

And this opportunity means the world,

means the universe.

My name is Dasha. I'm 21.

I'm originally from northern Russia,

but I live in Los Angeles, California. Wow.

Wow.

This sucks. I'm sorry.

Your voice is incredible,

but I feel like I heard about five different singers

in that one performance, you know?

And I couldn't really keep up

with what was happening behind me.

We never got to see

the softer sides of your voice.

And I think if you're gonna have a song like that,

there has to be little moments of softness.

If you would come back, just styling some of that

little things back, you're great.

I like the texture in your voice,

but I think that you should really focus on

just making a really cool rock 'n' roll record,

like, meeting up with some producers,

like, finding your sound... Yeah.

Because you're really rock 'n' roll. Thank you.

but I can't wait to see what you do.

My name is Talia Smith

and I currently am stationed in Fort Meade, Maryland.

My job is a intel analyst for the United States Army.

An intel analyst does things that are classified

that I cannot discuss.

And I can actually say that, as corny as it sounds.

So, yes.

I am also a Army recruiter.

They call me the performing recruiter

because when I go to the high schools in the area

to speak to the younger kids, I love to sing for them.

It's my own way of still implementing my love for music

in what I do now.

I got stationed over in Georgia,

and that's when I met my husband,

the most amazing person I've ever met in my life.

This past year, I went on a deployment,

and before I left,

we found out that we were pregnant.

I was excited knowing that I was gonna be able

to have kids with my wife.

It was everything we wanted.

But while he was away,

I had a miscarriage.

I kind of just felt weak, and as a soldier,

that's not something I'm used to feeling.

At first it was really hard, but her resilience

and the way that she's able to overcome things,

I know I can go through anything with her,

and we're not done trying.

When you find the strength to take another step,

it starts to reignite something in you.

I started to crave performing.

Now me being here is part of the healing.
