I'm 23, and I'm from Kansas City,

with my own little unique style.

My name's Chloe Abbott,

and I am a professional track-and-field athlete.

And a singer.

I run the 400, which is one lap around, full speed,

and I am currently training

to go for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

When I was a child, I was doing a lot of musical theater,

and then when I went to the eighth grade,

I tried out for the track team,

and after that, track just stayed with me,

and so did the arts.

It was definitely a struggle trying to figure out

how I can run track full time but also engage in music.

But over time, I have learned that I do love it

because track and music...

They play parts in each other's lives.

You have to be disciplined to practice vocals for 40 minutes.

You have to, you know, learn some of those things

that I-I don't think I would have learned

if I wasn't a professional athlete.

When that chair turns for her,

it's gonna be kind of a happy/sad moment for me,

to be honest, because I might lose her

as an athlete

down the road somewhere, you know?

So hopefully we can find a way for her to be talented

as a singer and maybe get one gold medal

and, you know, let her go on Broadway or wherever.

I'm so grateful that my mom and my coach get to be here.

They have been amazing during this process supporting me

and seeing who I really am as a whole human.

My childhood was fabulous,

very family-oriented.

I was always surrounded by music and musicians.

Every family gathering, I had tíos who were, you know,

I was finally good at something,

and it made me latch onto music that much more.

The summer going into my senior year,

my family found out that I was gay.

I had always

thought if my family finds out,

it was going to be bad.

When it happened, I lost all of the support of my family.

I was angry. I was sad and broken-hearted.

Pursuing music after that became painful

because it would remind me of an old life that I used to have.

Eventually, my mom put her foot down

and said, "I want to see my son."

And we slowly started the process of repairing

all of our relationships.

I am thankful for our family.

My family and I are closer than ever now.

I really wish my mom could be here,

and, most importantly, my dad.

Unfortunately, they couldn't make it

because it's my niece's quinceañera.

I'm 29 from Los Angeles, California.

What I love about "The Voice" is that people just like me,

regular people,

have the opportunity to sing for the world.

Last season, I didn't do as well as I wanted to do.

Being in front of those coaches

and... and being on that stage, it's intimidating.

I think there was, like, a stylistic mismatch

between what you were singing and how you were singing it.

You'll do well if you come back.

You just have to get the right combination

of song and approach. Yeah.

Not getting a chair turn,

it honestly was a bummer, I'm not gonna lie.

It didn't discourage me, though.

I've never let obstacles stand in my way.

In July of 2020, I was diagnosed with epilepsy.

I have, like, seizures in my temporal lobe,

so that directly affects my speech and my memory.

And I was like, "Well, how am I gonna continue singing

if I can't even remember the lyrics?"

She fought through. This is not gonna stop her.

Nothing will stop my daughter.

I know that she's gonna get through it.

And I'm just excited that we're here.

My mom and my sisters

really encouraged me to come back,

and I am so happy that I'm here.

Not everyone gets this amazing opportunity,

and the fact that I have it a second time,

that's unbelievable to me.

I started watching the show when I was really little.

And actually, the first time that I heard the song

that I'm singing for my blind audition,

"Stars" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals,

was on "The Voice."

That dream that I had... It's really coming true

'cause I'm singing the song now on the show.

My name is Mary Kate Connor, I'm 17 years old,

and I'm from Ashburn, Virginia.

My dad served in the worship band at our church.

I remember when I was little,

my dad and his friends playing in our basement

and me, like, begging him to let me get on the mic.

And I just was so bad.

But it was so much fun.

We had a friend who did voice lessons.

Next thing we know, the teacher comes out and says,

"Hey, would you mind if Mary Kate

auditioned for 'Les Mis' as little Cosette?"

Mary Kate was all excited, and she got the part.

We had the opportunity to go

and perform at The Kennedy Center.

And I remember running with my little broom,

like, across the stage, sweeping.

I had, like, the smallest, little part,

but, like, I remember going to school

and just, like, being like,

"Yeah, I was... I was at The Kennedy Center."

Like, I was so awesome. It was so funny.

From that point all the way into high school,

I really just ran into musical theater hard.

Loved it so much.

We are so obviously proud of Mary Kate,

just the courage it takes.

This is a huge deal.

Stop it. I'm gonna cry.

It's true.

I am so incredibly excited

to go out and just be myself

and not have this whole script

and this whole character already planned.

I just get to be me.
