Hi, my name is Tracy. And today
we're going to talk about what is communication. Now, there
are two forms of communication external communication when
you're communicate in with more than one
person, right and then there's the internal
communication the communication within your
mind and body and that's what
I would like to focus on today that internal communication
because a lot of times our body
and our mind is telling us something and that
is the reaction that we are having in our communication
with someone else right now. What causes
us to feel that internal communication?
So there's something called the automatic nervous
system and automatic nervous system
is responsible for any type of automated systems
within your body and automatic habits
that you have. Right? So like we breathe
without thinking about it and then when we wake up in the
morning, we do a regular morning routine.
Out thinking about it. Right but it
has two major systems. There's the
parasympathetic system in the sympathetic system.
Now with the parasympathetic system it
triggers your body into rest and
digest and when you're resting and digesting you
are typically in a place where you feel
relaxed, right and and you feel safe. So
usually if you're having a conversation and
you're around someone who you feel safe around and
it's a genuine conversation, then you are
in parasympathetic mood, right? But then
we have the sympathetic system that is
triggered and that's usually triggered during stress. If
you're having a stressful conversation and there's
three ways that we will react when
we are stressed when that sympathetic system
is triggered one is is that you're going
to fight and fight can look anything like you
want to argue back or you may want to use
Cool contact or you may want
to take flight which is walk away run away
from the conversation and then there's
freeze like freezing in like that
there and and the headlights right like you just freeze
and you have nothing to say you just shut down,
right? So now breaking down
what external and internal is the importance with
internal is is because in most
cases, right we are reacting to
how we are perceiving what
is going on in that conversation. Right?
And I will perception is based on our thoughts
about it in our feelings about it. Now, there is different levels
that we can react different intensities. So
if the feeling is strong you may react in
a negative way and if the feeling is subtle
it's calm then you may react just in a
calm sense or manner, right? So
now understanding that right like
How can you and just think about what and what
way do you communicate? Right and what do
you want to work on and just thinking about
that for yourself? Right and I know in most
cases like we all want to really focus
on the wellness right and responding
instead of reacting. Right? But
before we can get to that point, we really have to
understand in which way are or
even just knowing when we are triggered. What
mode are we in? Are we in Paris empathetic or we
in sympathetic right and then just always having that
compassion right and empathy for
yourself and know that you are always doing
the best that you can now the
steps that you can take towards like having that
more parasympathetic reaction is
is self-awareness being aware of
what's going on internally and then
it's just so observation. Just observing.
Out a story just taking a pause
and just observing what you're feeling in your mind
body and soul either breathing meditating. Right?
But just like in the moment. This is when you use
those tools that you have been working on right
and then just rinse and
repeat like every time you are in that
sympathetic mode, you just want to again be
self aware self observant without judging yourself and
just feel what you need to feel as
you breathe through it and understand with emotions
whether they're good or they bad or they're
just something that you don't want to feel it doesn't last forever. So
all I would say is just check in
with yourself when you are feeling overwhelmed. So
this was a video on communication the
two types of communication the internal and external communication and
you can look forward to more videos.
