[Lie to Love]

[Episode 27]

Why did you turn on only this light?

You didn't even get changed. Such a bad girl.

Eat something.

I made you your favorite mung bean cake.

Here.

I said eat up.

I made it for you. It's very fresh.

Xie Minghao!

Why don't you just kill me? I won't tell you anything!

If you won't listen to me,

I'll make Xieyi come here and keep you company.

Very well. Enjoy.

Remember to get changed.

Boss! This is bad! Warehouse No. 6 is on fire!

- What's going on? - I have no idea!

Everyone is busy putting out the fire!

- Come on! Let's take a look! - Come on!

Director Shi, you're finally here. Something happened at Lantian Bay.

When was this?

Just now, the construction site called and said the fire is under control.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Does Chairman Li know?

Chairman Li and Xieyi have gone there.

[Haotian Law Firm]

[Lawyer Xie Minghao]

Lawyer Xie! Something happened at the Lantian Bay construction site.

Here, Director Shi. Have a seat.

Here.

I didn't expect things to turn out this way.

The initial plan was for you to expose this batch of insulation materials

during the on-site inspection by shareholders at the end of the month.

Now that things have turned out this way, I have no idea what to do as well.

The fire on the construction site isn't just Ocean's internal issue.

This will directly put Ocean in the firing line.

That's right.

Director Shi. Have you thought about this?

This might be God's will.

Think about it. It was Xieyi who bough that batch of materials.

Now that there's a fire,

God is helping you to win Li Zeliang's heart back.

Chairman Li has been blinded by his emotions.

You're the only one who can show him the truth.

Now that this has happened, why don't we bring the plan forward?

All right.

Let's proceed as we discussed then.

Next, they'll get to that batch of insulation materials.

Use this opportunity to point out Su Xieyi's mistakes.

Let Chairman Li see the truth.

As to how to deal with this PR crisis,

I believe you can handle it.

Why would this happen?

Did you find out the cause of the fire?

Based on our preliminary assessment, the overloaded ventilator

caused the circuit to catch fire

and ignite the insulation material in the warehouse.

The ventilator?

Did you not know the output of the ventilator and the correct usage of it?

We use this kind of ventilator at all our warehouse construction sites.

It's procured through proper channels.

By right, there shouldn't be a problem.

Even if it was overloaded,

only the circuit would catch fire.

It wouldn't burn all the insulation materials in the warehouse.

That said, there is a problem with this batch of insulation materials.

That's most likely the case.

Do a thorough investigation.

Before I return to the company, I want to see the detailed investigation report.

Yes.

Cease all operations for today.

Keep a lid on this.

Okay.

Let's go.

[Warehouse No. 6]

Sorry, I have rhinitis.

The results of the investigation are out?

After the fire broke out, the police went to the scene to conduct an investigation and collect evidence.

This is the investigation report.

[The relevant responsible person, Su Xieyi]

May I take a look?

We'll get to the bottoms of things.

Xieyi. You can go first.

She's the person involved.

She has the right to know the truth.

[Fire Accident Investigation Report]

Miss Su. Did you take a good look?

It's clearly written on the report

that this batch of insulation materials

did not comply with the company's Class A standards.

All the materials in the warehouse are of Class B extruded board.

But the strange thing

is that it was stated as Class A in the contract that you brought back.

On the day the materials arrived,

you personally inspected and accepted them.

I did check that batch of materials.

The label clearly stated Class A.

I wanted to believe you.

So after I got the report, I contacted the manufacturer.

They said the supplier asked them to do this.

You were the one who found this supplier.

Director Shi, are you suspecting me?

It's hard for me not to think that.

But why would I do that?

That's because you're Shen Zhihong's daughter, the owner of Zhiwei Corporation.

You suspected that Zhiwei's bankruptcy had something to do with Ocean.

That is why you approached Zeliang,

got into Ocean just to wait for the right time to take Ocean down.

Right after Ocean made a promise to ensure the quality of the Lantian Bay project, this happened!

Su Xieyi. That's so cruel of you.

I did no such thing.

Xieyi.

All I want to know now

is, how did you come across this supplier?

Brother Minghao introduced him to me.

Xie Minghao?

I get it now.

Xieyi. You may step outside now.

We can't delay this any further.

The media wants an answer.

I have the press conference scheduled for tomorrow.

Announce the outcome of the investigation right there and then.

I got it.

Look what happened now.

Are you still trying to protect her?

Director Shi. Don't worry.

I'll make sure it's impartially handled.

But think about it.

If we link these two incidents together,

it doesn't seem very much like an accident.

I suspect that someone's using Su Xieyi

to take down Ocean.

Okay.

Let's hope you can find out the truth as soon as possible.

I will.

You know what? It turns out that Su Xieyi is the daughter of the owner of Zhiwei.

How did you know?

Just now, I wanted to pass Director Shi a document.

When I got to the door, I heard the news.

It gave me a shock that I dared not enter.

The great revenge by the daughter who went bankrupt.

This is a big deal.

It's a shame. Chairman Li treats her so well.

She turns out to be so vicious.

Are you girls so free that you have time to talk behind people's back

during working hours?

Mingyue, you have to be careful.

You're so tight with Su Xieyi.

Beware. She might make use of you.

You girls often enjoyed the coffee that Xieyi bought you.

How could you say such a thing?

Mingyue, they don't mean that.

This series of events do raise eyebrows.

Raise eyebrows?

Look. Whatever you say,

I believe that Xieyi isn't that kind of person.

But you can't tell a book by its cover.

There's no telling if she was behind this fire.

Don't make unfounded accusations.

But Zhiwei does have a beef with Ocean.

Besides, Xie...

Hi, Chairman Li.

We haven't even gotten to the bottom of things.

I've said this before. No gossiping in the office.

If I hear anyone talking about this behind my back again,

I'll have to get her to leave Ocean.

Are you not suspicious of me?

I've always believed in you.

But… I'll use my own way to get to the bottom of things.

Thank you.

Xieyi. That day, I was being mean.

I solemnly apologize to you about Xieqing.

Xieyi. You can punish me however you want.

But don't ignore me.

At crucial times like this,

the more we should communicate with one another.

I'll always be waiting for you.

When I find out the truth, I'll come back.

The truth about everything.

[Since the fire accident at Lantian Bay is exposed,]

[Ocean Group's stock price has continued to fall.

- Brother Minghao. - What brings you here?

There is a problem with that batch of insulation materials.

Let's talk inside.

Mr. Li, I've investigated the matter.

No one on the construction site uses this medicine.

That said, someone else entered the factory.

I've checked the security footage.

Many people went in and out of the place. All were in uniform.

We couldn't get a clear picture of the faces.

There are so many warehouses in the factory.

Almost all are equipped with ventilators.

But why is it so coincidentally

that the warehouse where the insulation materials were got on fire?

Isn't that too much of a coincidence?

I, too, suspect that someone deliberately set it on fire.

After the incident,

this account by the name He Jianghua immediately released a video of the fire scene.

The fire was extinguished in less than an hour after it started.

Lantian Bay is in the suburbs.

Why is it so coincidental?

Didn't this little brat say that he went on a trip?

Why would he be back so soon?

He seems to be involved in both incidents.

This He Jianghua is very important.

He often makes unannounced visits everywhere.

It's not difficult for him to sneak into the factory and set a fire.

Just now, Ms. Su did tell me that He Jianghua is using the same rhinitis inhalation.

Why don't I ask him to come over?

We have no proof right now.

We can't go toe-to-toe with him.

Will he answer if you call him?

He might not answer my call.

But that doesn't mean he won't answer other people's calls.

Those in the media industry like him are only after scoops.

He's obsessed with exposing Ocean, isn't he?

We can take advantage of that.

Understood.

Hua

Hi, Mr. He.

Who's this?

I'm a fan of yours.

I've been following your account for a long time.

These days, there aren't many conscientious people

with a great sense of responsibility like you in the media industry.

I have great admiration for you.

Not at all.

But this is my number at work.

If there's nothing else, that's enough talk.

Wait, don't.

Why would I call you for nothing, right?

Well...

I am the foreman at the Lantian Bay construction site.

I feel so pumped after seeing your report.

I happen to have some inside information about Lantian Bay.

I hope you can help to give us a voice.

Do you know if they have some other frauds?

It's not convenient to talk over the phone.

We should set up a meeting place,

and I'll bring you the evidence and information and show them to you.

Okay. I'll find a place and send you the location.

Okay. I'll wait to hear from you.

He agreed to meet up.

Mr. Li, the press conference is scheduled for tomorrow.

If we can prove that He Jianghua is the arsonist,

catching him will give us a chance to make a comeback.

I won't miss this opportunity.

Why would it turn out this way?

That supplier has a good track record.

But I couldn't reach him now.

His phone has been turned off, and even his office is closed.

Can you find him?

All right. I'll help to ask around.

I'm counting on you.

I still have work to do. I'll get going now.

Leaving so soon?

Brother Minghao. Have you been bringing lunch to the office lately?

That's right.

I feel worn out these days.

I didn't want to order in. I just wanted to prepare the food myself.

Take care of yourself.

This is my sister's favorite.

That's right.

I don't know what else I can do.

Whenever I think of her, I'll have some of her favorite foods.

It can help to ease the pain of missing her.

I know it's hard to let go.

But still, we have to look forward.

Thank you.

Well, I'll get going then.

Let me know if you hear anything.

I'll walk you out.

Just get back to your work.

- Be safe. - Okay.

Hello? What's wrong?

Hi, Mr. He. I'm here.

Which private room are you in?

I'm in Songhe Hall.

Come alone.

Okay.

Mr. Li, he's in Songhe Hall.

He specifically emphasized that I should go alone.

Wait here for me. I'll meet him.

I'll call you if there's anything.

Chairman Li. You don't seem so surprised to see me.

Likewise. You aren't surprised to see me.

So my speculation was right.

Tell me about it.

Lantian Bay project has a delicate nature.

I even gave my word that there would be no fraud.

So if anything goes wrong with Lantian Bay project at this very moment,

it will surely hit Ocean hard and fast.

It was you who introduced Xieyi to that supplier.

You took advantage of the trust that Xieyi had in you.

Also, you were too eager to set things in motion and set up a trap for her.

So you must have instructed the supplier to secretly swap that batch of materials.

Then?

Based on the two discoveries made by He Jianghua,

he seemed to have known the exact time

and be the first to expose the news.

It was so coincidental as though he was the one who set the fire.

If I'm right,

you're the one behind all this.

Chairman Li is indeed very smart.

You're so quick to admit it.

That's right. It was my doing.

Very well.

I'll invite the media and hold a press conference.

Make sure you'll be there when it happens.

You're the key witness for me to set the record straight.

Don't worry, Chairman Li. I'll surely be there.

But before that, I have a little something that might pique your interest.

I did check that batch of materials. The label clearly stated Class A.

I wanted to believe you.

So after I got the report, I contacted the manufacturer.

They said the supplier asked them to do this.

Please verify the details.

If there's no issue we can proceed to sign the contract.

There's no need to go through it.

The contract was prepared by Lawyer Xie.

I trust him.

Besides, I've gone through the electronic version over a dozen times.

Let's just sign and stamp it.

Miss Su. Did you meet He Jianghua in the restaurant the other day?

I did.

But I thought he was just an ordinary customer.

Miss Su.

Mr. He.

What a coincidence. Did you come to buy books too?

That's right. I travel a lot.

So I came to take a look around at the bookstore near the hotel

and picked two books.

This is all directed at me.

It's like someone's pulling the strings.

Class B insulation boards

can also be used as insulation for building exterior walls.

As to why the Class A insulation board was not used

in accordance with Ocean's previous standards, it's all entirely my decision.

It has nothing to do with Ms. Su Xieyi.

Li Zeliang, stand right there!

Are you out of your mind? Have you considered the consequences?

What do you think I should do?

Push all the blame on Su Xieyi?

Then, push her out and let her come under fire in order to protect Ocean's reputation?

But this is clearly her fault.

It's the material she bought that caused the fire.

You did this for this woman who's up to no good. Is it worth it?

I'm the chairman of Ocean

and also the largest shareholder.

I'll be responsible for the decision I make.

Li Zeliang, let me remind you.

You might be the chairman.

But Ocean doesn't belong to you alone.

I'm well aware of that.

You're a lost cause!

You'll regret your decision.

Why did you do that?

I told you I would clear your name.

You're not clearing my name.

You're apologizing lightly will only make things harder for yourself.

The die is cast.

There's no need to look into it any further.

What have you gone through to reclaim Ocean?

Have you forgotten all that?

What you said today before the media will cause Ocean's stock price to plummet.

That's the business that your father had spent his lifetime building.

Su Xieyi.

You're in no position to teach me what to say or do.

I have the right to decide on how Ocean will deal with the problem.

Think about it.

There must be a reason behind all this.

You said it yourself.

What we need now is to communicate and solve the problem together.

I've given you the chance to do that.

But the ship has sailed.

[Board Chairman]

Chairman Li, don't worry. I'll surely be there.

But before that, I have a little something that might pique your interest.

It's all recorded in the statement. [Debit Card Account Statement]

The supplier privately sent a sum of money to Xieyi.

Three million in total.

Lawyer Xie, you sure are a professional.

What a flawless frame job you have here.

But what can this statement prove?

Xieyi signed the contract with the supplier.

The company has a backup copy.

It's written clearly on it.

I, too, have a copy of the contract that you talked about.

[Class B3]

[Ocean Hotel Corporation]

Xie Minghao. You forged the contract.

Don't you recognize Xieyi's handwriting? But it's nothing difficult.

If necessary, I can ask an authoritative organization to analyze it.

That supplier is my friend.

He told me that it was Xieyi who instructed them to sign this dual contract,

and she also specifically ordered

for the B3 extruded board to be packed into a Class A material package.

She asked for a colossal amount of money. Three million.

If necessary, I can arrange for you to meet with the supplier.

Of course. They'll tell you the same narrative.

You've bought that supplier, right?

It's their words against her. I won't take their words for it.

I knew you would think this way.

So I prepared a small surprise for you.

Miss Su. I like this about you. You dive just right in.

How about this? I can give you 10 percent of the rebate.

Make it 20 percent.

Miss Su. You asked us to use B3 materials to replace those of Class A

and we could make some money from it.

But the profit margin isn't as much as you think.

Besides, do you have any idea how much 10 percent is?

It's about three million.

After all, we're just trying to make a living.

All right. I'll text you now.

I've received your bank account number.

After the deal goes through,

I'll transfer the fee for the rebate to the bank account number that you provided.

Please accept this little gift.

Don't mention it. It's nice working with you.

Oh, right.

Let me briefly explain it to you.

Three million meets corresponding standards of extremely large monetary amount.

Based on the amount of remittance from the supplier to Xieyi,

the sentence should be at least ten years or even life imprisonment.

Now, I have the evidence, witness, and Xieyi's motive for revenge.

Xie Minghao.

I never thought you would even do something like this to Xieyi.

You don't want her to suffer?

The choice is yours.

You can either protect Xieyi and take the blame.

That will cost Ocean its reputation and lead to bankruptcy.

You know better.

Or you can rat Xieyi out, and I'll hand over the evidence.

In that case, I'm afraid you can only visit her in jail.

The tug between power and love.

This has always been an eternal dilemma.

I'm really curious

as to how you will choose.

Since you've called and asked me here,

you can just cut to the chase.

You must have heard what A'Yan said at the press conference today.

I was just beside him. I heard him.

Well, do you know the reason he said that?

Miss Su, you're a smart person.

It shouldn't be hard to figure out that Mr. Li said that to protect you, right?

I know that.

But based on my understanding of him,

he isn't the kind to make a trade-off and take the blame without careful consideration.

It does strike me as a little odd.

After the fire accident at Lantian Bay, Mr. Li was investigating the incident

and he even arranged a meeting with He Jianghua.

Did he meet He Jianghua then?

No.

But he met someone else.

Who?

Xie Minghao.

Brother Minghao?

Did they meet by chance?

No.

Mr. Li went into the private room that He Jianghua booked.

Then, both of them walked out together.

He arranged a meeting with He Jianghua.

Why would Brother Minghao be in there?

From what I see, it's all very clear now.

He Jianghua and Xie Minghao are in it together.

Actually, Mr. Li has long suspected him.

But I could tell that he found it hard to talk to you about certain things.

Miss Su, think about it calmly.

Who introduced the supplier to you?

If you didn't commit fraud on the purchase of this batch of materials, who could it be?

Think deeper.

Mr. Li speculated that the fire at the warehouse was man-made

and he suspected it was He Jianghua's doing, so he asked him to meet up.

But the one who showed up was Xie Minghao.

First, it's He Jianghua and Xie Minghao. Then, the supplier and Xie Minghao.

Don't you find it suspicious?

Well, what did he say after he met Brother Minghao?

I did ask him when I sent him back.

But he didn't say anything.

But I could tell he wasn't in good shape.

Initially, Mr. Li was going to announce

the investigation results to the police and the media

and suspected the possibility of arson.

But right before the reporters, he totally changed his stance.

I think

this has something to do with his private conversation with Xie Minghao.

Brother Ji, thank you for telling me all this.

The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I don't mean anything else.

Also, Mr. Li doesn't know that you asked to see me.

Sister.

If you were still alive,

I bet you wouldn't believe that these things are related to Brother Minghao.

Right?

Perhaps, I shouldn't have come back.

That way, A'Yan wouldn't have gotten into all these troubles.

And you would still be fine.

So many things have happened.

Tell me. What should I do?

To my beloved sister, Xieyi.

If you're reading this,

it means I have lost yet another bet.

All my life, I've had so many regrets.

But my biggest regret is not able to find true love.

Xie Minghao doesn't love me.

He was just pretending to love me.

He only treats me as a tool for seeking revenge against Zhiwei.

Actually, the one he likes all along is you.

In order to get you, he would do whatever it takes.

He would go on a revenge spree on anyone who stopped him from loving you.

If you receive this doll from Xie Minghao,

please stay away from him because he must have

started to hatch a sinister plot against you.

Also, please protect your loved ones and those who love you.

Xieyi. Weak as I am,

I have to confess my crime to you.

I've made a huge mistake.

I'm responsible for Zhiwei's bankruptcy.

So I'll pay the price for my mistake.

I don't expect your forgiveness.

I just hope you can live happily forever.

If there is an afterlife,

I hope we can become real sisters.

Drink some water.

Very good.

As long as you behave, I promise I'll still be nice to you like I did.

Leave the container here after you're done. I'll collect it tomorrow.

How's Xieyi?

Like I said, if you do as I say, she'll be fine.

I want to see her.

Can I?

Sure.

When?

Tomorrow, perhaps.

Or maybe next year.

After I take care of everything, I'll let you two meet up.

You look good in this outfit.
