[Immortal Samsara]

[Episode 49]

Back then, I didn't like the strict rules in Nine Heavens.

I thought it was unreasonable.

But now, I've experienced the Mortal Realm once.

Only then did I realize that someone sacrificed themselves for the greater good.

As a result, the Three Realms is protected.

And because of them, there is a free and easy life for living beings like me and the spirits.

Things have changed.

Why must you insist?

You have your own responsibilities.

And I have mine.

Go back and fulfill your duty as Sovereign Lord.

I have to protect my family as well.

Leave.

What if I insist on doing this?

How many times do you want me to tell you?

It's impossible for us to be together.

But you've looked back, haven't you?

Yandan,

I will wait.

I'll wait for you to come to me again.

The incense burner I gave you is right here.

As long as the affection is still there,

the lingering feeling will never be gone.

I'm the Sovereign Lord.

I'm also Tangzhou.

When I complete my duty as the Sovereign Lord, Tangzhou will be back

to spend the rest of his life with you.

Yandan,

wait for me.

The letter of Tianxin Temple is burnt. But Yingyuan is still investigating it instead of giving up.

Do you want me to intervene again?

There's no rush.

Though he gets suspicious now, it's already late.

(It's already been five days. Why isn't Luming coming?)

Sovereign Lord.

I was going to tell Luming about Yandan.

I've searched through the Heavenly Realm, but he is nowhere to be seen.

The immortal attendants of Yuqing Palace said it's been a long time since they last met Luming.

I thought there was something wrong. So I rummaged through the Pavilion of Books.

All I found is the Merfolk Orb he left behind. But I didn't know how to use it.

This is the magic weapon of the merfolk.

Only the merfolk can activate it.

Perhaps it'll be helpful.

What is this place?

Merfolk is the Aquatic Clan of North Sea. This should be in the realm of North Sea.

It must be a hint from Luming. I must go there and take a look.

You haven't recovered. You shouldn't be working so hard.

Never mind. Without Dizhi, the hot spring has lost its efficiency.

Now, I'm turning the Lotus spiritual power into Lotus and putting it in the lake.

It makes it look nice and it can improve the efficacy of healing.

So if the spirits in the mountain are injured, they can take bath here and heal their wounds.

It'll serve two purposes.

You're such a responsible backer.

Zilin should learn more from you.

Now he always sticks with his wife. He doesn't care about the mountain at all.

Elder,

why are you here?

His Highness, Luming, has been missing for days.

Did something happen to him?

His Highness works in the Heavenly Realm all year round.

He contacts us through the Merfolk Orb every day

to handle the affairs of North Sea.

For the past few days,

we've never received any messages from His Highness.

We can only cast a spell and activate the Merfolk Orb.

All we can see is this image.

This is the secret territory of the Merfolk

known as Crystal Fall.

As it's supreme and sacred,

there's a barrier.

No one from our clan can break it.

Even His Majesty, the Dragon King, can't break through the barrier.

We're eager to look for His Highness.

So His Majesty

told us to come to Yelan Mountain to ask for help.

Please don't worry, Elder.

I'll try everything I can

to establish the truth

and find Luming.

Yandan.

(Yumo.)

(I know that you want to go to the North Sea with me.)

(But the mountain has just had a great disaster.)

(You should stay and guard the mountain)

(so that the spirits can feel reassured.)

(Rest assured.)

[Yandan] (I've got enough cultivation base now.)

(I'm sure I can use my power)

(to protect myself)

(and get Luming back.)

(Please believe in me.)

(Don't worry or miss me.)

(Wait for me, I'll return safely.)

Yumo.

Where is Yandan?

Is she gone?

Who was it that went missing?

All of you are very worried.

If you're worried,

just go after her now.

You can still catch up with her.

Since Yandan has made up her mind,

I should respect her.

I believe

that she'll get Luming back.

Yandan.

Why are you here?

You came to the North Sea too.

You must've known

that Luming went missing.

Is there any clues about him in the Heavenly Realm?

From Luming's Merfolk Orbs,

I saw the waterscape of the North Sea.

So I followed the trace and came here.

Since we ran into each other,

let's investigate it together.

(What matters is to find Luming.)

(I'm not aware of the situation in the North Sea.)

(It'll be useful to get help.)

All right, then.

According to Elder,

this should be the Crystal Fall.

These are the Merfolk Tears that store memory.

We're too late.

I used Seven Immortal Power to break this barrier.

The person who came before us

must've been powerful.

Let's go and check

if there's any lead that person has left behind.

There's a monument over here.

"Hundred generations of Merfolks,

numerous descendants.

This Crystal Fall is formed

to worship our ancestors."

"Life is short.

We all return to the dust.

Years after years,

you're remembered for posterity."

This is the ancestral hall of the Merfolk.

It is a place where they worship the ancestors.

As Luming's Merfolk Orb is found here, could it be...

It's impossible.

Luming must've tried to leave me some clues.

How could it be?

No way.

Yandan.

Luming gave us a hint here.

Is he already...

Impossible.

Luming won't die.

There must be some clues that he tried to leave me.

I'm sure he's fine.

Yandan.

You can't activate Merfolk Orb.

Stop trying.

Luming must be waiting for me to rescue him.

He'll be fine.

I'm sure of that.

After a merfolk died,

a lifetime of memory will condense into a Merfolk Tear,

and fly back to the merfolk's homeland.

This is Luming's Merfolk Tear.

This is Spirit-Gathering Silk.

Luming already had an ace up his sleeve.

That person destroyed Luming's Merfolk Tear.

But with Spirit-Gathering Silk,

it can sense the breath of the host's kins.

It'll light up,

and it can somewhat gather his spirituality.

Luming.

What have you been through?

What happened to you?

You wanted to see me, Your Supreme Majesty?

As an attendant,

you should focus on your work and follow orders.

If you doubt your master,

it will be the end of your life.

How could it be His Supreme Majesty?

In the Three Realms,

there are very few Immortals who can hurt you.

This mysterious man always succeeded in sneaking up on you.

He even tampered with the register

and contacted the East Sea.

It appears

that His Supreme Majesty is indeed suspicious.

His Supreme Majesty raised me up.

He is my master and also my father.

How could he possibly try to kill me?

Besides, His Supreme Majesty

is not a hypocrite who does bad deeds.

He has ruled the Three Realms for millions of years.

The only thing he does with an ulterior motive

is concealing the fact that I'm from Asura bloodline.

There must be

something hidden from us.

Indeed, the mysterious man's act is totally incompatible

with His Supreme Majesty's behaviour in the past.

But Luming took the risk to keep this image.

There must be something that he wanted to tell us.

Perhaps

there are clues in the Merfolk Orb.

Let me check it out.

Let's go, Luming.

Wait.

We haven't put the candles out.

You must be tired from working the night shift with me.

Let me help you put them out.

Rest assured, Luming.

I'll do the night shift with you

for however long you work

as an immortal attendant of the Pavilion of Books.

Let's go.

It'll waste a lot of time.

Watch me.

This was me and Luming in the past.

Luming really is dead.

He and I had made a deal

to accompany each other for million years.

But I went to the Mortal Realm

and left him alone in the Nine Heavens.

I thought we would meet again.

But I'll never have a chance to see him again.

Luming must be blaming me.

He must be blaming me.

Luming didn't blame you.

He was bidding farewell to you.

As for the two images that appeared,

he was trying to tell us

that it's at the Pavilion of Books.

Luming must've prepared for this

as he found the clues.

I'll go and look it up now.

I'll come with you.

If it's at the Pavilion of Books,

I'm sure I can find the clues

as I'm familiar with the place.

Yandan,

you're a spirit now.

Your life would be in danger

if you got caught.

I'll be careful.

Please believe me.

Luming is murdered

but the culprit is still out there.

I can't just stay in the Mortal Realm and wait.

Luming was my best friend.

I want to avenge him.

I beg of you.

Okay.

Let's go there together.

[Luming's tomb]

Your Majesty.

Don't be so formal.

Today, I'd like to go through the ancient books in the Pavilion of Books.

I don't wish to be interrupted.

Yes.

The Pavilion of Books appeared in Luming's memory.

Let's split up and search for it.

[Leave Slip, Luming]

There are many leave slips.

Though Luming was promoted,

he was still as lazy as ever.

"I wish

my friend, Yandan,

peace and happiness."

You prayed for me every year.

But now, I can no longer

give you my wishes.

[The Details of Belt]

[Hundred Types of Leather Belts]

Why are there so many books about belts?

(This was where I put the play scripts.)

(Luming would never store)

(other books in here.)

(What matters now is the investigation.)

(I'll leave these belongings aside first.)

Is there any clues?

I found nothing.

Let's call it a day.

After a while, the patrolling immortal attendant will be here.

Let's go.

Wait.

I meant,

maybe the images Luming left

in the Crystal Fall

wasn't a farewell message to us.

As expected.

Due to the special nature of the Merfolk's bone and blood,

it can form unquenchable fire.

Luming made

these unquenchable candles with his own blood.

This is the clue that he wanted to show us.

Nine Planets Alignment?

Nine Planets Alignment

is a very rare celestial phenomenon.

Look, Yandan.

The nine planets form an orderly line.

They cover the sky and sun

and form an array between heaven and earth.

It's not just as simple as a celestial phenomenon.

When the Nine Planets Alignment appears,

if someone gathers the spiritual qi of heaven and earth with the Golden Cicada's Wings

and uses the powerful immortal spirit

as the vessel

to worship Nine Planets Array,

he'll be able to achieve the Universe Enchantment.

The Universe Enchantment?

The Universe Enchantment

was used by the Lord of Asura Clan,

Xuanye.

As it was sinister and vicious,

it was banned after the War of Genesis.

Only those elderly immortals

who went through the War of Genesis knew that.

The Nine Planets Alignment was last seen

during the Divine-Demon War.

Use the immortal spirit as the vessel?

Celestial Deity Beiming's immortal spirit

was lost after returning from the war.

Did someone do that on purpose

to practice the Universe Enchantment with his immortal spirit?

But to achieve the Universe Enchantment,

it'll need the Golden Cicada's Wings.

They are the magic weapon of Three-Winged Raven Clan.

This clan has long been annihilated.

What will happen to those

who are killed by the Universe Enchantment?

The Universe Enchantment will engulf and absorb the spiritual power.

The immortal bones of those who are attacked will become brittle.

It'll be hard for them to form a shape.

Let's go to the Divine Cemetery Forest

and see the body of Celestial Deity Beiming.

Everything will come to light by then.

Okay.

Celestial Deity,

you always said

that you worked hard your whole life.

And that if you ascended, you wished

to eternally rest in the universe

so that your existence could be peaceful.

Now,

to address the injustice to you,

we must forcibly open your coffin

and disturb your peace.

A weiqi piece!

Sovereign Lord,

long time no see.

Celestial Deity.

A part of my spirituality

rests on your weiqi piece.

Through it, I can connect with your heart

and communicate telepathically with you.

My weiqi piece?

In the Divine-Demon War,

I was in charge of the rear

and allocated artifacts and immortal beasts to the immortals.

On the eve of the war,

His Supreme Majesty entrusted me

to protect you

if the war intensified.

However, I was in the rear

and you were on the front line.

Worried that I would overlook you,

I secretly took one of your weiqi pieces

and connected it with your spirituality.

After so many years, I didn't expect

to meet you here.

(If His Supreme Majesty is the mysterious guy,)

(why would he save me and then try to kill me?)

Celestial Deity, I wasn't

aware of your kind thought.

The living and the dead are separated.

I can't repay you.

Celestial Deity,

what happened

during the war?

(The Demons forced me into a hopeless situation.)

(I fought the demon soldiers in front)

(but one of them attacked from behind.)

(Caught off guard, I tried)

(to see who he was.)

(I looked up)

(and saw my face.)

(I understood immediately)

(that he used the Puppet Spell)

(to pretend to be someone else)

(and hide his identity.)

I couldn't expose him after all.

What happened that year

was due to my oversight.

To prove your innocence to the Heavenly Realm,

we have to ask your consent for us to open the coffin

and find the evidence

to avenge you.

This man plotted

to kill Celestial Deities,

absorb three Sovereign Lords' divine power,

and then quietly escape.

He has fathomless immortal power

and is very scheming.

Others are no match for him.

If you continue to pursue this,

you will put your life in danger.

Your identity will be exposed

and you have to leave the Heavenly Realm.

Celestial Deity,

so you already knew it.

I dedicate my life

to protecting the virtuous paths of the universe.

I might expose my identity and lose my deityship,

but I'll seek justice for those

who were innocent but implicated.

I'll perform my mission

without fear and regret.

Celestial Deity,

please allow us to open the coffin.

Alright.

I knew it would end up like this.

It was just a matter of time.

If you must get to the bottom of things

and turn things around,

you will face perils.

If a war breaks out,

I believe you will save all beings

and restore peace in the Three Realms.

However,

I have some selfish interests.

Are you

concerned about Yandan and Yumo?

Don't worry.

If they are dragged into this,

I

will bravely and selflessly

protect them.

I wish you safety and success.

I will entrust both of them

to you.

Celestial Deity.

Dragon scales?

Back then,

Yumo put the dragon scales on his body.

The Nine-Finned Dragon Scales came from spiritual roots.

They're very tough.

Placed properly in a celestial coffin,

they won't break.

Evidently, someone murdered Celestial Deities

and took their immortal spirits

to practice the Universe Enchantment.

In the Three Realms,

the only one capable of killing

Sovereign Lords

is the Heavenly Emperor.

In the War of Genesis,

he led the immortals to destroy the Asura Clan.

Now,

he uses the Asura's evil art to harm those in the Heavenly Realm.

Why has he changed so much?

With his status,

if this matter is exposed,

it is tantamount to subverting the Three Realms.

We must carefully confirm this.

To find out the truth,

we must collect more evidence.

I know.

You have a deep friendship with him.

If you investigate this,

you'll be in an awkward situation.

I'm a bit worried.

You're in the open. He isn't.

Don't let him take advantage.

Don't worry, Yandan.

I won't be partial.

A lot is at stake.

This is my bounden duty.

Before we have the evidence,

we must not act rashly

or

we will be in danger.

Yandan.

You should go back to Yelan Mountain first.

You're the Sovereign Lord.

People will notice every move you make.

I'll pretend to be an immortal attendant

so that I can move around easily and undetected.

Besides,

Luming left a wooden box in the Pavilion of Books.

I must figure out what his intention was.

Since you have decided to stay,

I will keep you safe.

Celestial Deity,

I will seek justice for you.

You were Yumo's mentor.

The one who killed you in the mortal world

also caused the extermination of the Nine Fins Clan.

Given Yumo's temperament,

he will kill his enemy.

I'll send him a letter

to inform him about our investigation.

After we get the evidence,

we can confront the Heavenly Emperor

during the advisory council of the immortals.

Right now,

we need the Nine-Fin Dragon Scales

to test the Universe Enchantment.

[Wenshui Pavillion]
