Many people pass by and never
give it a second thought.

But for some, the Dream Motel
is a refuge from the storm.

A safe haven in times of trouble.

A special place where
sometimes heaven reaches out

just to touch the earth.

For many years, the
Dream Motel has offered

faith to the faithless,

hope to all those who
have but given up on life,

and love to those who
thought themselves unworthy.

How can I help you?

(ethereal music)

So even though she came here prepared

to take her own life, after she left,

she became a doctor and now
she's saving lives in Africa.

That's amazing.

I still can't believe that
Martin Luther King stayed here.

Yeah.

He was very nice, but I
could tell when he showed up

he was broke, he was ready to give up.

But he stayed here one
night, one night, Jesse,

and he walked outta here
ready to take on the world.

It's amazing.

You know, after hearing all of this,

I can't understand why Darke
wants to close this place down.

He doesn't wanna close it down.

He wants to tear it down.

Oh, I think we need to make a stand

and make sure Darke doesn't
get his way this time.

Jesse, we both know that God's will

will always be accomplished
no matter what.

No one, no thing can ever
do anything to thwart that.

The people like Darke,

they believe they can stifle God's will

even though they might not understand

that it's God's will
that they're stifling.

He may very well show up tonight

and try to make good on his threats,

but the key to the equation is this:

as much as I love this place,
it's not about this place,

it's about people and their hearts.

And people like Darke don't want that

and they don't like that.

Well we still can't
stand by and let Darke

just rip this place to the ground.

If it's God's will for us
to take a stand, we will,

but we have to remember no matter what,

whatever happens good or bad,

we have to trust that it's God's plan.

I'm sorry for the way that
I've been acting lately.

When I first came here I was a mess.

I was confused, I was angry.

A lot like you are right now.

But God changed me.

He breathed new life into me.

He restored me.

but there are quite a few.

Not just in this country,
but all over the world.

The Lord is doing some truly
wonderful things out there.

(birds chirping)

It's just that there used
to be a whole lot more.

At one point we had motels
like this in Russia and China,

but the religious persecution
eventually won out,

shot 'em down.

But in America, I see people
who are truly living lives

of faith, hope, and love.

This country's strong.

But, atheism, secularism,
and other world religions

are starting to take hold in a
lot of minds and hearts here.

So my fear is that.

(electrical buzzing)

(Matteo groans)

The power of God just happened.

The Lord doesn't usually
let men witness that.

He let you see it for a reason.

What happened to those men?

They're all right.

They'll wake up in the morning

and they won't remember a thing.

[Sheriff] What about Darke?

You were right about him.

He's stronger than the others.

You need to be careful, Sheriff.

(heavy breathing)

Sheriff.

a good deed this evening.

Don't forget that.

And if I'm honest, I
never wanted to be here.

Well, not at first.

For over 50 years I have run this place

and seen to all the needs of my guests.

But over the years I have
truly come to love this place

and consider it my home.
