Your Majesty, Mister Su is here.

Your Majesty.

It's been over half a year,

but I've been watching you.

You've made great progress

which didn't disappoint me.

Like I said,

when you're with me alone,

feel at ease.

Let me see.

You're taller

and stronger.

Come.

The Night Court is getting out of my control.

Yu Huai couldn't wait

to rebel.

We've spent

so much effort on you,

it's time for you to repay me.

I think

you could confront

the Night Court now.

I have faith in you.

See the orchids over there?

Since your father loved orchid,

I let them grow them

to show my yearnings for him.

It's the birthday of your father

and, the time when orchids

are in full bloom.

If only he could see those orchids

as well as

our son.

I'm sure he'd understand

your feelings in the underworld.

Maybe he's using

the orchids to express

how much he misses you.

Maybe I'm growing elder,

I miss your father more.

Though he did wrong things,

I don't mind it now.

Besides, your father

joined the rebellion

because he was deluded.

To be honest,

I never blamed him,

not to mention

punishing him.

The situation wasn't stable

after the rebellion

and the Shus had the military power.

She insisted on killing your father,

so she forced me

and left me no choice.

We managed to save you

and sent you to Su Qi.

I failed you.

Please take care of yourself

and don't be grieved.

For so many years,

I've taken those steps discreetly.

Now we're

finally able to stand against the Shus.

Child,

trust me,

I will sort her out

in the future

and bring you back to me

in public.

I'll keep that in my mind.

Remember,

we both conceive the hatred.

We'll annihilate the Shus jointly

to let your father rest in peace,

but before that,

you'll terminate a hidden peril for me,

namely the Night Court.

I'll follow all your orders.

But may I request

that if I can destroy the Night Court

and survive luckily,

please reward me.

All right.

Feel free to tell me.

I'm old enough to marry,

so please arrange it for me.

You've grown up anyway.

Fine.

I promise

that I'll choose one

among the high courtiers

for you when it's done...

I'm in love with one already.

Who do you love?

Shu Cheng, the princess of the Shus.

Mother.

Have some tea.

I read the report of your journey.

You did it well at the Afterglow Villa

and the Herbal Valley.

Remember,

making friends

is more important than

killing or learning martial arts.

I'll always remember that.

Did you see her?

Did she let you do something perilous?

She let me destroy the Court.

It's the most perilous matter.

But that's only the first step,

she'll let you take charge in the Night Court

to fight the Shus with her.

Was what happened before

like what she said?

I didn't join her and Shu Rou

to suppress the rebellion,

so I don't know the details,

but it's possible that Shu Rou was brutal.

20,000 soldiers who were loyal to the Third Princess

and 1,000 imperial members

were killed by her order.

How dared Shu Rou

kill so many people without her order?

But the truth could only ebb

after all those ferocious deeds

since she made all the decisions.

Child,

I don't know much about the other things,

but I'm clear about one thing.

If Shen Quan can see us,

he'd just want you to live on.

I proposed a term

when I met her this time.

Shu Cheng?

You're bold enough.

She let you deal with the Shus,

yet you want to marry Shu Cheng,

aren't you embarrassing her?

She agreed.

She wants you to help her inside of the Shus.

If that's true,

your affection for Shu Cheng will hurt both her

and you.

Episode 07

It's right to wait for you here.

Is it you?

Who are you?

Who else could it be?

Weren't you dead?

Who are you?

Did I tell you I was dead?

You're always right,

satisfied?

The whistling arrows.

Come on, stop wasting your strength.

Shu Huang's army didn't stop you

because

she went to stop Yan's army.

We've got much time to spend here.

Go south,

the Shus' army is there.

I won't leave.

I've got many questions for you.

You'll be the hostage again

if you stay,

what will Chu do? What will the Shus do?

I'll die at the worst,

I don't fear death,

I just want to be with you.

If you die,

the two countries' people will die with you.

Give up your life

and bring a calamity to the two countries' people,

that's what you should do?

I promise

I'll always be with you from now on,

but you need to leave now.

Go.

Who the hell are you?

Since you kidnapped Shu Cheng,

you're my enemy.

To think Chu has such a person like you.

We were less cautious

for being allowed to pass the border,

yet you intercept us in our barracks,

nice move.

Sure.

Nobody could expect I'd come here.

I thought there'd be a big plan

after the princess was caught,

at least you'd negotiate first.

I didn't expect

you'd made such a lethal move.

There was no plan,

I just hated to see her suffering.

You love Shu Cheng, right?

Well,

that makes two of us.

I brought her back to Yan

in order to marry her.

Very well,

you're already dead after saying that.

Shen Ye.

I can't lose you again.

Ya.

Ya.

Shu Cheng?

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Didn't I let you leave?

Why did you come back?

Yan Zhuang.

Don't you touch him again.

Your Grace.

I told you I'd marry you.

She's mine, step back.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Wake up.

Shen Ye. Wake up.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Since I came back,

I won't leave you alone.

I'll bring you back to Chu

even if I have to carry you.

Shen Ye, wake up.

Don't sleep, Shen Ye.

Hang in there.

Stay with me.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye. Wake up.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye. Wake up.

Shen Ye.

You don't have to suffer this for me.

We walked a whole night,

but we're still here when we woke up.

Don't worry,

I'll bring you back alive.

Just leave me here,

or neither of us can make it.

Leave me here

and head south,

you'll be safe when you reach Chu.

No way.

Since I chose to save you,

I won't go back myself.

I couldn't choose the man I marry,

but I could choose to save you.

I don't want to regret for it.

Get up and get moving.

Shen Ye, don't sleep.

Don't sleep, Shen Ye.

Stay with me. Wake up.

Wake up.

Shen Ye, wake up.

Shen Ye.

You jerk.

Do you know how I worried

about you these days?

Shen Ye.

Why didn't you come to see me since you survived?

Answer me.

Wake up and answer me.

Shen Ye, don't sleep.

I spent so much effort

on looking for you.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye.

Shen Ye, don't sleep.

Stay with me.

I'll take you away.

I'll take you away.

Just hang in there.

It's so many.

Let me take them back.

All right.

Be careful.

Take it.

It's so heavy.

Here's the fish for you.

Thank you.

You're welcome.

Physician.

Physician.

Who's he?

Why's he wounded?

Help.

Anybody?

Physician.

Physician.

I don't know who he is.

- No. - Me neither.

What happened?

How's he?

This young master

is badly wounded,

which shouldn't endanger his life,

but he was seriously wounded before.

He should recuperate,

but he went a long way

before he could recover

which aggravated the condition.

Did he get wounded recently?

I wonder what important thing

made him neglect his own life.

Physician,

please save him.

I'm counting on you.

I've been a physician so many years,

but it's the first time I saw

someone paid me

such a valuable jade pendant.

Your and his clothes

don't look like

the dress of us, the Girl Wanting Clan.

We're from Chu.

He...

We're engaged without parents' assent.

We eloped here

for not being blessed.

So you are

people in love.

Physician.

Physician.

He himself would choose to wake up or not.

You can pay me

when he wakes up.

If he can't,

you'll need the money to bury him.

Who on earth are you?

You survived the explosion,

I'm sure you can survive this too,

right?

You managed to come back,

you must stay safe.

Don't you leave me again.

Shen Ye.

You can hear me,

right?

Shen Ye.

When can you wake up?

I said

I'd bring you back to Chu.

You won't leave me alone,

right?

You woke up?

How're you feeling?

Any pains?

It's settled.

You heard it all?

Where are we?

The Girl Wanting Clan's place.

Are...

Are you alright?

This clan belongs to Yan,

you must leave now.

The physician said

you should rest

and couldn't travel any more.

They'll know your identity,

then you couldn't escape.

Leave me here

and leave now.

It's good you woke up.

Here.

Have the herbs.

Lie down.

You're back.

Didn't I tell you to lie there?

I gotta stretch my limbs.

I'll cook something.

Wash your hands.

I'm fine.

Just scratches.

Here.

Let me cook for you.

Just wait a while.

The dinner is ready.

All right.

Let's eat.

You're still weak,

why didn't you cook something nutritious?

What?

You said you'd support me.

May I have some money to buy groceries?

It's not easy to earn money by writing and painting.

I haven't profited.

I knew you didn't know how tough life is.

No one would accept such a high pricing.

My calligraphy and paintings are valuable,

they couldn't appreciate it.

Here's another tip for real life.

A family will have nothing to eat

if Lord Dear offers no money.

Who's your Lord Dear?

Speaking of which,

I granted you so much gold and silver.

Now

you're even asking for money to buy dinner.

I don't have to eat then.

The landlord was right.

He said I couldn't have a good life with you

and let me plan for it.

Plan for what?

He said I was pretty

and wanted to find me a wealthy wife

so I could always have meat.

Prepare some hay

to burn his house.

We're living at his home,

so it's not proper

to burn his house.

But I can vent

the anger for you.

I stole a hen at his rear yard,

which is being stewed in the pot.

Let me fetch you some.

I had to rely on myself

since you offered no money.

I'll forgive him for sake of

this hen.

Here.

It's good.

Where have you been today?

Since I had no business,

I went to the clinic

and picked some herbs with the physician.

Why did you have to do that in person?

Because the herbs for you

are hard to find.

I had to find them myself.

You really won't let me eat?

Though I have a poor reputation,

I can eat myself.

Just eat.

Come on.

Is it good?

What's this about?

Your feet must be rubbed raw

after all the walking in the mountains.

Soak them in the water.

Come on.

Shouldn't I take care of you?

You went to pick herbs for me,

shouldn't I serve you well?

It's the sacrificial ceremony here tomorrow,

shall we go to pray?

You're my Lord Dear, you make the call.

We say so to deceive the others,

you needn't always call me that.

All right.

Raise our cups.

Come on.

- OK. - OK.

Go ahead.

Let's dance.

Legend has it

that their ancestor came from the west

when the clans were at wars.

The woman he loved

didn't come back from the battlefield,

so he searched the whole battlefield

for ten years

with his affection.

Then

he found

his love's barrack and grave.

He kept staying here

until he died.

The clan formed by his descendants

is called Girl Wanting.

It's a shame it didn't end well.

Maybe

that was the best ending.

If I'm not a princess,

perhaps

we can live here

and stay away from troubles.

But you are the princess.

Will you give up that title

and those responsibilities

for me?

And giving up your fiance,

Su Rongqing?

May our floral goddess

keep us safe for generations.

The ceremony begins.

Come.

Do you know what the garland

at the top represents?

What?

It's made of their sacred flowers.

It's said

its winner and

his wife would be blessed

by the goddess.

Really?

- Bravo. - Bravo.

Get up.

Amazing.

You want to die?

You're my Lord Dear,

shouldn't I

get the garland for you?

Here.

Well done.

So charming.

Our floral goddess will bless you

an everlasting

happy life.

An everlasting

happy life.

Our guests from afar,

the goddess blesses you.

You know

we belong to Yan.

I'm sorry.

We've had peace for generations,

so we couldn't stand against Yan

because of you.

I'm a physician

as well as the elder here,

so I have to...

I understand.

Take care of him

after I leave.

I am Shu Cheng,

the princess of Chu.

Greetings, Your Grace.

No need to salute.

I've been looking for you.

Guards.

Arrest them all.

Wait.

He has nothing to do with this.

Take me alone

if you want to.

You think this is Chu?

You don't make the call here.

Go get them.

I'll kill myself right here

if you take him away.

A living princess

is more useful than a dead Shu Cheng

to you.

I heard about your nobility.

You're second

only to one person in Chu.

It's true you're more useful alive.

Your Grace.

Please.

Since you wore my garland,

you're my Lord Dear.

You said you'd bring me back to Chu.

I'm sorry.

I'm afraid

I'll go back on my word.

Your Grace.

Please.

You can't escape.

You're surrounded.

Your aunt's army arrived, too.

You may choose to leave with them

or to come with me

and live a life

free of worldly troubles.

As the princess of the Shus,

I can't be capricious

and I can only fail you.

Shen Ye.

I'll never forget

these days with you.

May you

have a joyful

and free life.

This is it.

Farewell.

Your Grace, I'm Bai Shaotang.

Are you alright?

Rise.

Nanche, Biyu.

- Yes? - Yes?

Escort your brother to leave here.

- Brother. - Brother.

Come.

Please return to our barracks with me.

Listen up,

divide into two teams

and besiege the enemies.

Why are you doing this?

Take all the Yan's soldiers away.

The Girl Wanting Clan belongs to Yan,

we can't stay here too long.

If we leave without doing anything,

the clan will be suspected of

colluding with Chu,

then they'll be attacked.

I broke the peace here,

they just wanted to survive

and they did nothing wrong.

Your Grace.

Send the order.

Yes.

Arrest them all.

Yes.

You're so merciful.

- You're so merciful - Thank you.

Your mother will arrange the rest things.

Nobody can gossip about you,

but they may collude with each other.

I'm sure you know how to handle it.

We took three cities

in the name of looking for you,

so we gained so much.

Not enough.

We shall prevent Emperor

from wronging us too.

Please send the speediest messenger to the the capital

and tell the soldiers to shout on the way

that we defeated Yan and took some cities.

All right.

Send the order.

Yes.

Not just one team.

Send three at least.

Send the second team three days

after the first leaves.

Send the third team

after another three days.

All shall shout about that.

Your Majesty, an urgent report from the border.

Read.

Yes.

Shu Cheng is rescued

and she'll arrive in the capital

in a couple of days.

She's so lucky.

What do you want to say?

Why don't we

kill her on her way

back to

the capital?

I also want you to

get through the tunnel to the Girl Wanting Clan quickly.

It won't be helpful

to the situation,

but will decrease our power.

I want...

I want you to

take them in

and let them join Chu.

Thanks to them,

I survived,

so I can't implicate them.

besides,

their village situates in a special location,

if we get it,

it'll be like a dagger at Yan's throat.

If we acquire their land,

we may contact the Bais' army

and help each other

without alarming the imperial army.

Since the Shus and the Bais are friends for generations,

our force

will grow stronger

and the Emperor dares not to make trouble.

Not just that.

If we can make it,

we may

fend off the enemy outside

and besiege

the imperial army inside

if they plot something.

Aunt, it's now or never.

Send the order,

the Jiu Battalion marches fifty lis northwest

to protect the Girl Wanting Clan.

Should the enemy respond,

the Ming Battalion shall hold them.

This place

shall be ours.

Yes.

Thank you.

Since you're back,

I can teach Yan a lesson

to avenge

Great Chu

and you.

From now on,

we'll show those small border towns

that Great Chu

is grateful.

You're so mighty.

Spend more days in the barracks

since you came here already.

Experiencing the military life away from the court

is good for you.

I'd like to

stay here,

but I have to

go back to the capital.

We can't do that,

the Shus are at their peak.

We can't do that.

It turns out to be a bless in disguise for them.

Send my edict,

let the Palace Secretariat prepare for negotiation.

We want to tell all the people

that our Chu is in war

because Shu Cheng was kidnapped by Yan,

but I

will still uphold justice for her.

Yes.

The Shus can't take all the credits.

You're insightful.

No matter what I do now,

the Shus will be the beneficiary.

But

I have to do it anyway.

Spread the message anonymously

that the Great Chu was deceived by the Shus.

It was the Shus

who colluded with Yan's Prime Minister

to grow stronger

and to seize our power.

Mother.

That may not

make sense.

It doesn't matter if it makes sense

or if we have evidence,

I just have to start the rumor.

Yes.

I understand.

One more thing,

arrange for Shu Cheng's marriage quickly

as a reward

and a distraction.

Yes.

It's made of the clan's sacred flowers.

It's said

its winner and his wife

will be blessed

by the goddess.

Since you wore my garland,

you're my Lord Dear.

You said you'd bring me back to Chu.

You may choose to leave with them

or to come with me

and live a life

free of worldly troubles.

As the princess of the Shus,

I can't be capricious

and I can only fail you.

Since

you're safe now,

I need to go back to fulfill my duty

by accepting the granted marriage.

I've been enjoying a luxury life as a princess,

so I shall take the corresponding responsibilities,

but Shen Ye,

I'm so reluctant to leave you.

Greetings, Your Grace.

The Capital Garrison came to pick you up.

At last.

Very well.

Your horses and armors are ready?

Hongyuan, Nanfeng.

Yes.

Get me changed.
