Did you hear?

The cutoff to enter the selection round is 270.

I’m not even dreaming of becoming a national...

But it’s an insult not to reach the selection...

Don’t worry, you worked hard.

The coach insists that I retire if the result is bad.

What?!

Rope! Rope!

Are you okay?

Are you hurt? Let me see.

Jesus...

Did you have to hang me and drop me?

I’m dizzy! Stop it!

Next up is Choi Lee-young, world’s #1 diver.

She will perform a back jump,

and 2.5 spin, which has a difficulty of 2.8.

Choi Lee-young, 5235D.

Very clean entry.

Choi Lee-young, what a spectacular start.

She is indeed incredible.

With beautiful spin in the air, she made a clean entrance.

- She deserves huge praise. - 9.5, 9, 9.5, 9.

Yes, let’s look forward to her next round.

100th National Competition 10M Platform Diving

1st Choi Lee-young 2nd Kang Cho-ah

Ms. Choi, over here!

Look over here.

Su-jin!

When did you get here?

You should’ve waited for me.

I decided to retire.

The coach told you to?

Ask for a better room when I leave.

You didn’t even like it there,

but you stayed there because I liked it.

Screw them.

Let’s switch teams.

I’ll team up with Su-jin.

You know her situation.

That’s why we kept a medal-less diver for 9 years.

How could you say that?

Lee-young,

that’s enough.

Dragging her along isn’t good for her either.

End it like this?

Then how? Synchronized?

You’ve never done it before.

It’s not easy synching up.

I spent years with her...

And level difference?

I’ll drop my level.

I normally wouldn’t care, but this is for the Olympics.

If you fail to win gold in individual category,

who’ll take the blame?

I’ll do good on both.

Problem solved?

What if it doesn’t work out?

Will you not let her go even when you’re cornered?

I wouldn’t let her go no matter what.

I heard you’re new.

Leaving?

Yeah.

Let’s do it together.

Shall I teach you?

What is it?

Our synchro uniform.

Isn’t it pretty?

I special ordered them, so there’re only 2 in the world.

I know you don’t want to give it up.

One last time. Let’s do it together.

- We’ll jump on 3. - What?

You’ll get hurt if you don’t.

- 1, 2, 3! - Wait a minute!

Congrats on your first diving!

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

Begin!

1, 2!

So annoying...

What is?

Su-jin, she should’ve at least jumped.

Isn’t she even sorry?

You couldn’t even practice for individual.

Don’t overreact, it’s not your place.

The head of federation is coming next week.

He’ll decide whether to let you do synchronized then.

Why does he decide that?

The federation wants you to focus on individual.

The phone you are calling is off...

Look at the time! You didn’t answer my call...

That’s a spotted jellyfish, and this is a moon jellyfish.

They’re pretty.

This one looks like you.

It’s fancy somehow.

Don’t mind the federation, I’ll call them tomorrow.

It’s okay, I’m on the cliff.

Falling off is only thing left to do.

The thing about diving is,

your face is all contorted and hideous up close,

but so beautiful from afar.

What do you mean?

I won’t be petty anymore, that’s what I mean.

Begin! 1,2!

I heard Su-jin met Ju.

What?

That super diver who committed suicide after a doping incident.

I know about her, how could she meet a dead girl?

I heard people who meet Ju suddenly become great,

as if possessed by a ghost.

Su-jin’s like that nowadays, she’s as good as Lee-young.

Of all days, today’s practice was the best,

right?

Why are you pouty? Am I the only one happy?

Su-jin.

Yeah?

Su-jin.

What?

Don’t, you shouldn’t.

It’s been a full week since

Choi Lee-young lost consciousness following a devastating accident.

Fans from all over the world are praying for her recovery,

while the hospital has not found anything out of ordinary

after extensive tests.

The police have checked with the doctors...

Why are you out here?

What did the doctor say?

You may feel fine now, but you could suffer PTSD.

You don’t remember the accident?

Not a thing?

I feel strange.

I thought I was taking a nap,

but the doctor told me I was here for a week.

Is Su-jin training today?

How could she not call me?

Does she know I’m awake?

She was with you.

When I last spoke to her, she said she was with you.

You two went for a drive because you were drunk.

Ms. Choi? I’m Det. Oh Jung-su from Western District Police.

I’m Det. Kang Baek-sun.

Please come in.

The car was registered to your agency,

did Ms. Park drive it as well?

We usually switched driving to and from the pool.

So she wasn’t unfamiliar with the car or new to driving?

Have you ever seen her drink and drive before?

Your alcohol level was high on the night of the accident.

If she drank with you...

No, she doesn’t drink.

Judging from the accident report, there are some inconsistencies.

There weren’t any cameras and we need to know her condition

to unravel this situation since she was the driver.

Don’t scratch it even if it’s itchy.

This may not look much, but it could leave scars.

Honestly, the selection is too much for Lee-young.

She can’t even remember what happened.

Su-jin’s dragging her down till the end.

Come on.

I feel bad for Su-jin.

What for? She had no talent,

yet thanks to Lee-young, she took all the chances.

Even if they’re best friends...

You should be at practice, why did you come?

We have to, you’re injured.

Thanks for worrying about me,

but don’t talk behind someone’s back.

I’m sorry.

Why are you sorry at me?

We should head out now.

Let’s go.

We’ll visit again.

I’ll clean it up, just go.

Lee-young.

That night...

It’s nothing.

I heard Su-jin met Ju.

Su-jin’s like that nowadays, she’s as good as Lee-young.

Don’t spread weird rumors.

Cho-ah, where is Su-jin?

Over there.

Wow, that was so clean!

Was that Su-jin?

Fortunately, I’m not hurt badly, so I’m doing much better.

- Will you train right away? - Thoughts on retirement?

- Is Olympics a possibility? - What about the selections?

Will you return to the Olympics?

The selections isn’t far off,

but I’ll do my best, thank you.

Who will be your partner?

Ms. Park is still missing, how do you feel?

Look, it’s Lee-young!

Lee-young!

That’s enough for today, get down.

Are you okay?

Oh gosh...

You chose wisely, you need to focus,

but there are just too many athletes over there.

I looked into other pools too, but they’re all occupied.

But I managed to delay the renovation and rented this.

Oh yeah.

The media is going crazy asking for interviews.

And 3 commercials to shoot, be careful.

Can I do that after the selections?

I already postponed them.

All except one, Icarus.

They’re our sponsor, we gotta help them out.

But I’ll make sure it’s a half-day shoot.

Okay?

This section is worse...

Mr. Jo, find me a clean-up crew.

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins...

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

I asked the head of federation to let me enter the selections.

With you there, why’d they pick me as well?

It was stuck under the seat.

It’s Su-jin’s.

You stated that Su-jin never drank.

Yes.

There was an article about her drunk driving 2 years ago.

The victim settled for a ton of money,

so that he wouldn’t report her.

No, she doesn’t drink.

You know that, right?

I think you knew about it.

Yes.

But how is that related to this case?

Accident caused by drunk driving is relevant.

What we were suspicious of this case since the get-go is

it can’t be explained other than drunk driving.

For the car to bounce off, it must’ve reached over 100km/h,

and it was raining...

Park Su-jin, disqualified!

Park Su-jin, 405B.

35th National Youth Competition 1st Park Su-jin, 2nd Choi Lee-young

9, 9, 8.5, 8, 9.

Choi Lee-young, right?

Shall I teach you?

Park Su-jin’s Drunk Driving in Question

I first found out about her drinking then.

Why did she have to hide it?

“It’s like buying a diary with a lock on it.”

Sounds like her, no?

What did you two talk about before the accident?

You said you called her.

Yeah, then...

Are you hiding something?

Come on, why should I?

What do you want to know?

It’s too weird.

How...

how did the accident happen?

Do you...

resent her?

What?

I heard you’re training alone, not going well?

Whatever...

I’m just flustered.

To find out something I didn’t know about her.

Probably jealous of you.

Su-jin! Hey!

What’s wrong?

Hospital, go right away.

Mom passed away?

No, it’s not that,

but she’s getting worse...

Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.

#1 middle school diver,

Park Su-jin’s 5th and final jump is starting.

Her final dive will start on a handstand,

followed up with 2 full spins,

it has a difficulty level of 2.5.

It is today’s most difficult dive,

let’s see if she can pull it off, as it is her specialty.

1st Park Su-jin

1st Choi Lee-young

Are you still afraid to go up on the diving board?

Excuse me.

What’s wrong with this?

It’s a spotted jellyfish.

It’s dead.

Dead?

Can’t you tell?

But the moon jellyfish is fine.

Did you put them in the same tank?

Yes.

You shouldn’t have...

They can’t be in the same tank.

Mucus from moon jellyfish weakens spotted jellyfish,

and ultimately kills it.

Did you come just for that?

What?

It’s nothing.

Who bought that?

My friend.

Are you sure it’s from here?

That’s weird.

If they were bought here, I’d have mentioned that.

Wanted to kill it, maybe?

What?

Am I right?

If it wasn’t on purpose, why’d it die?

I don’t understand.

Look.

Su-jin is the moon jellyfish, and you’re this spotted jellyfish.

Take a moon jellyfish.

Spotted jellyfish is pretty but hard to take care of.

This one looks like you.

It’s not what you think, it’s an anti-anxiety pill.

Still a banned substance.

No, we need it the most.

It’s a mental fight.

If I keep your secret, will you give me your spot?

What about with me?

You just want to be in the national team.

There aren’t many girls who can do synchronized...

You actually hate Lee-young, right?

Isn’t that why you say that?

I understand you, she’s perfect.

She’s got the skill and personality too...

Being with her, you would feel worthless...

Even so, she did so much for you...

She feels guilty, that’s all.

Because she feels sorry for what she did.

For ruining my life.

Su-jin.

- Su-jin. - Yes?

What?

Don’t take the pills, you shouldn’t.

Why?

You think I’m doing well because of the pills?

At least you should trust me, no?

Or are you scared that I’d take your spot?

I’m scared that I wouldn’t dive again...

Why did you do it? You’ll say it was for me...

Why did you do it? You’ll say it was for me... I heard you talking to Cho-ah.

I heard you talking to Cho-ah.

Whenever I see my scar, I want to kill you.

The coach asked you

not to tell me about my mom until end of the match.

So why did you?

Not because you wanted to be first place?

Su-jin tried to kill me.

What?

Su-jin tried to kill me.

How could she do that to me...

I did everything for her...

I really didn’t know...

She hated me enough to want to kill me.

I really didn’t know...

Don’t lie to me, you knew that already.

Pardon?

You already knew everything.

No, that’s not true...

No...

You really didn’t know?

You sure? You knew.

- You really didn’t know? - Ms. Choi, try to remember.

Why did you pretend not to know?

Are you scared that I’d take your spot?

Lee-young? Ms. Choi!

What do you mean she just collapsed?

She went to the police station, stood there for a long time,

then just collapsed.

I don’t believe this...

Her condition has been terrible.

This is my fault.

I knew well what Su-jin meant to Lee-young.

Lee-young?

Discharge me.

An anonymous tipster reported

distribution of performance drugs out of an Incheon aquarium yesterday.

The police arrested and investigated the owner,

and found out that he’s been selling a drug known as ‘Ghost of Ju’.

The police will be looking into the buyers of this drug.

Hello, could we talk for a bit?

Go ahead.

Some time has passed since the accident,

and considering Park Su-jin’s disappearance,

we’ve decided to halt the investigation of this case.

The search will cease today.

That’s good.

Pardon?

But we’ll continue to look for Su-jin...

I understand.

Are you okay?

Why shouldn’t I be?

It’s nothing, thank you for your cooperation.

It’s okay, you can do better next time.

Just once...

I wish you could be like me.

I’m different than you.

What does it feel like to finish rehab?

I was able to recover my confidence that I can do it.

There’s a rumor that you couldn’t dive after the accident.

Have you heard?

It was true, not a rumor.

How did you overcome the trauma?

Like all other sports, diving is about mental strength.

So I wanted to show that I could overcome it...

with my own will.

Wait! Please!

Aren’t you... Choi Lee-young?

Yes.

I’m a huge fan.

I even went to one of your competitions.

Thank you.

Are you all right now?

Yes.

I’m so glad that you survived the fall.

Do you live here?

I should come visit more often.

Take care.

I’ll keep cheering you on, even your dead friend!

If it was me...

I wouldn’t rely on pills no matter what.

You don’t know anything.

If you were in my shoes, you’d do the same.

You think you’re different?

It’s starting!

Lee-young, this is the last shot.

We’re running out of time, let’s go in 1 take.

Don’t get nervous, just dive as usual.

We’ll shoot now.

3, 2, 1.

Action!

I’ll count again.

3, 2, 1.

Action!

Why isn’t she jumping?

What’s going on?

What can we do, we’ll use a stand-in.

There’s no need for that, we’re free next week...

Sir, do you know how much the equipment costs to rent?

Oh, right.

Aren’t they also in the same team?

Yes.

At least the visuals have to be good.

- Are you the coach? - Yes.

We’ll have to use one of them as stand-in.

Here we go.

3, 2, 1,

action!

Cut! Okay!

Get Lee-young’s face and CG it in, okay?

Very good.

- You did so well. - She was great.

- Aren’t you cold? - Thank you.

That was great.

- Was it good? - Yes.

- Did I do well? - It came out so well.

That’s good.

No, I stopped the shoot to protect the athlete.

Yes, write it up to there.

Yes, thank you.

What was that girl’s name?

Your stand-in.

Cho-ah.

Kang Cho-ah.

Kang Cho-ah? It’s a good name.

Why not synchro with her?

It’d look good teaming up with Cho-ah.

Synching up isn’t a walk in the park.

I wouldn’t suggest this to anyone,

but I say it to you because I know you’ll lead her well.

That’s almost a gamble.

Think of it as insurance, not a gamble.

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

Two half spins and enter.

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

Two half spins and enter.

1, 2, 3, one full twist, two half spins and enter.

What are you doing?

Are you okay?

Of course.

Ready.

Go, 1, 2, 3!

Holy cow! Cho-ah, you were incredible!

- Yeah? - Yes!

That was so good!

Let’s check the footage!

- Come. - Let’s go.

- That was so awesome. - So lit.

I was so shocked.

- You did good. - Super clean take off.

When did you practice?

Lee-young, you couldn’t do this when you were 20, right?

Honestly, I think Cho-ah did better.

- Stop it. - She’s kicking ass lately.

Did you...

meet Ju too?

What?

- What do you... - Or just say no.

Why are you so sensitive?

No, I’ve never met Ju.

Yeah?

What’s with her? Is she in bad mood?

Even so, she shouldn’t have said that.

Forget it, it’s probably nothing.

What are you doing?

Can’t you see? I’m training.

How long have you been here? Do you know what time it is?

Let’s go to the hospital.

You need treatment, and when you recover...

No!

- I’m fine now. - You’re not!

Had Su-jin...

got a proper treatment, she’d have recovered.

She ruined herself by pushing too hard.

Get your stuff.

Do I look like Su-jin?

What?

Sure, I haven’t been good, and acted petty lately.

So are you seeing me as Park Su-jin?

Hey, how could you say that?

Pick what you like.

We can take care of the rest.

Here.

Your coach’s a bit weird.

Why won’t he file the application?

I can submit it.

No need for you to do it, just confirm the details.

I’ll give it to the federation people when they come by later.

I have a luncheon with them...

Sir, you have guests from the federation.

There was no traffic at all.

Ms. Choi Lee-young!

Good afternoon.

Are you joining us too? That’s great!

You know them? They’re the judges.

Sir, she has training to get to.

She still has to eat.

There’s no harm in making good impressions.

How come?

If I don’t, will I not make the cut?

No...

I’m Choi Lee-young.

Sir, where are we going?

You wanted to go to the Woonam district.

But why this way...

What? This is the only way.

This isn’t the right way.

This is the way to the cliff.

What?

Not gonna find your friend?

Let me off.

Maybe you’re better off not finding her.

Stop!

We’re at 2020 national team selection match,

women’s 10m platform diving match is about to begin.

It’s still early but you can’t find an empty seat in the crowd.

They’re perhaps all here for this person.

Korea’s pride, Choi Lee-young.

Yes, her willpower got her here despite accident-related PTSD.

Today’s highlight, Choi Lee-young is up next.

Choi Lee-young, 107B.

7, 7.5, 7.5...

- She looks a bit nervous. - 7, 6.5, 7, 7.5.

Her condition seems to be off.

Choi Lee-young, 5253B.

Just once, I wish you could be like me.

Due to her weak take off, her spins weren’t clean.

7.5, 8, 8, 7.5, 7.5, 7, 8.

Her scores aren’t as bad as expected.

- Yes, that’s correct. - Yes...

We’ll look forward to her next round.

After group 1’s first semi-finals round,

Kang Cho-ah trails Choi Lee-young by 3 points.

Kang Cho-ah trails Choi Lee-young by 3 points. Group 1 Semi-finals 1st Choi Lee-young, 2nd Kang Cho-ah

Group 1 Semi-finals 1st Choi Lee-young, 2nd Kang Cho-ah

Please look forward to the finals this afternoon.

I’ve been so scared of diving.

If you were in my shoes, you’d do the same.

You think you’re different?

Lee-young.

Choi Lee-young!

Are you nuts?

This isn’t right, don’t do this!

That’s not mine, it’s Su-jin’s.

Choi Lee-young!

You think I’m doing well because of the drug?

Su-jin was the one.

That’s not important.

You said you’re not like her, how is this any different?!

I’m not done.

What’s wrong?!

What happened that night...

Just stop it!

I didn’t do it, it wasn’t my fault.

It’s not concerning, just a shoulder ache.

I’ll talk to the team doctor, so go see him.

Thank you.

People are going insane online.

Comparison video of you and Cho-ah is up.

They’re saying the judges favored you.

I’ll do better at finals.

This won’t blow over like that.

I said I can do it.

What?

I said I can do it!

Don’t get anymore pathetic.

Get off, I’ll drive.

Stop the car!

It’s all over! Get it together!

Lee-young...

Choi Lee-young.

What’s wrong?!

Just stop it!

You think I’m doing well because of the pills?

Get it together!

If I train any harder, I’ll die!

If you were in my shoes...

Just stop it!

You think you’re different?!

You already knew everything.

Choi Lee-young!

What are you doing?!

Get ready!

I heard you talking to Cho-ah.

Where are you going?!

Please don’t tell anyone.

I’m begging you.

There’s still time, you can quit it.

I’ll help you, let’s train harder.

Train?

If I train any harder, I’ll die!

No, Lee-young...

I’ve been so scared of diving.

Those pills helped me ease my anxiety a little.

You can overcome it without pills!

You don’t know anything.

If you were in my shoes, you’d do the same.

You think you’re different?

Choi Lee-young!

- What are you doing?! - Let go!

- Don’t do it! - Let me go!

Please stop it!

Why did you tell me about mom back then?

You could’ve regretted it after finding out.

Not because you wanted to be first place?

What?

If not, why didn’t you ask me?

Why I was so scared...

You were never curious.

Hold on, we’ll be at the ER soon.

It would’ve been better if we weren’t friends.

Doctor, we came to ID the body.

We just received the body,

it’s badly damaged,

you won’t be able to identify it in person.

After the autopsy...

Wait...

Lee-young...

Lee-young...

Unbuckle your seatbelt...

Let me help.
