[Lie To Love]

[Episode 9]

Forget it.

Every time we waited for my nephew, it was just a waste of time.

Very well, let's begin.

Everyone, the main agenda of this meeting

is to discuss the auction that will be held at Yunfeng Hotel.

As we all know...

My apologies.

Sorry for the long wait.

Zeliang. [Ocean Hotel]

What a surprise.

How did you manage to have the time for this board meeting?

You are right, Uncle.

From now on, I will dedicate my life to work.

All right. Let's get down to business.

Yi Fei, explain the main agendas today.

Everyone, our main focus today will be the auction of Yunfeng Hotel.

As you all know, the most famous auction company, Fujiade Auction,

will soon select one five-star hotel in Shanghai as the venue for their auction.

Our subsidiary Yunfeng Hotel has managed to make it into the top three choices.

Yunfeng Hotel is the five-star hotel we spent billions to build.

If we become the auction venue,

it'll be a worldwide advertisement for our hotel.

But unfortunately, based on the information I got,

Mr. Roman from Fujiade Auction has decided to partner up with Zhengde Hotel.

Zhengde? They've been our rival all along.

That's right.

Indeed. It was supposed to be a great opportunity, but we ruined it.

Our rival reaped the benefit.

We'll be mocked in the industry for this failure.

Everyone who participated in the tendering will have their bonus deducted.

I want your reflection report.

Chairman Huo.

Don't you think it's too early to draw any conclusion now?

Zeliang.

Judging by your tone, you seem to have a plan.

Mr. Roman hasn't signed the contract with Zhengde Hotel just yet.

At least, we can still give it a try.

If we admit our defeat before the outcome becomes certain,

that will only boost their pride.

The ratification is tomorrow. We won't make it in time.

Zeliang, listen.

Business is nothing like a video game.

The defeated must accept their punishment.

Very well.

If I manage to close the deal with this tendering,

I'll ask only one thing from you.

I want full control over Yunfeng Hotel.

What if you fail?

If I fail, I'll resign from all the positions in this company.

Very well.

Zeliang doesn't get fired up for a job very often.

Is there anyone who is willing to assist him in this undertaking?

I'll help him.

Lawyer Xie, this way.

Xieyi, why are you here?

I was told someone broke into your house, and you even got hurt.

I'm all right, so I thought I should come back to work.

Allow me to introduce.

This is Xie Minghao, he's a lawyer.

He has been working with Director Shi's Hengye Bank for some time.

He is an outstanding commercial lawyer.

Director Shi referred him to help Ocean Hotel.

Lawyer Xie.

Nice to meet you. I am Su Xieyi.

Hello.

By the way, a burglar broke into my house a few days ago.

I'm not really sure about damage compensation.

Could you help me out with it?

Sure. I'll be glad to help.

Secretary Gong just told me she would brief me about the company's situation.

Maybe Miss Su could do the honor instead?

Will that be a problem?

No problem.

Let's talk at the cafe downstairs.

Sure. This way.

Brother Minghao, you could have given me a heads-up before coming here.

After the cocktail party, you never picked up your phone.

You weren't at your house either.

Where else can I find you if not here?

You know why I'm here. We shouldn't meet here.

But now you can talk to me as one of their employees.

Don't worry. Ocean Hotel and I are merely business partners.

Sorry.

A lot had happened lately.

I didn't want to make you worry.

Xieyi.

You know, when I couldn't reach you, it'd only make me...

It'd only make me and your sister worry about you.

But I thought it through.

Since you insist on executing your plan,

I'll do my best to assist you.

Okay.

However, you must never keep any secrets from me.

Just discuss your plans with me.

By the way, was Li Zeliang's story during the cocktail party actually true?

He almost spotted me when I was tailing Chen Hengsheng.

He was trying to help, so...

So this must never happen again.

Xieyi.

I've been looking everywhere for you.

Why are you with Lawyer Xie?

Lawyer Xie is actually my sister's fiancé.

He's my future brother-in-law.

I see.

Since he's your brother-in-law, he's my brother-in-law as well.

Brother-in-law, nice to meet you.

Xieyi, contact me if there's anything. I should get going.

Director Li, goodbye.

I've known him since I was a kid.

You don't have to pretend. He knows everything.

I didn't know you two are so close.

- Hello? - Zeliang, I'm ready.

We can go now.

Okay. See you at the entrance.

I need to go out for some work.

As for you, do your job.

Xieyi, do you have the phone number of that dashing lawyer?

Does he have a girlfriend?

I was only asking questions about legal compensation.

Why would I pry so hard?

You already have Director Li. There are plenty of single ladies here in the office.

I am the perfect example.

Now that you mentioned it,

he told me he has a fiancée

who looks very much like me.

He's already engaged?

Sister Fei.

I wasn't expecting you to start working so soon.

I must thank you and Chairman Huo for my swift recovery.

Mingyue.

Where are Director Shi and Director Li? They aren't in their offices.

They are trying to secure Yunfeng Hotel's partnership with Fujiade Auction.

Yunfeng Hotel?

What's wrong? It's nothing.

Don't worry about it.

Director Shi and Director Li make a good team together.

Nothing could go wrong with them working on it.

I bet you haven't heard.

In the past, Director Shi and Director Li were known as the perfect partners within the industry.

But the person that suits Director Li the most is of course you, Miss Su.

But I think we can't afford to take risks

when it comes to a relationship.

Am I right?

All right, I'll leave you to your work. See you around.

Xieyi, don't listen to her nonsense.

Director Li's heart is all yours.

But I think Director Li was a little headstrong this time.

From what I heard, he even swore to resign if he failed

to secure the deal with Fujiade Auction.

- Seriously? - Yes.

Not to mention Fujiade Auction and Zhengde Hotel are about to close the deal.

To make such a promise now...

Do you think he did it because he really doesn't want to go to work?

Fujiade Auction?

Xieyi? Xieyi?

Hello, Brother Ji. Where are you now?

Putting Su Xieyi into our equation...

A brilliant move indeed.

The Shi family has deep roots here.

We'll be at risk if Chuchu is working with Li Zeliang.

We have Zhengde Hotel that is closing a deal,

and now we have Su Xieyi to stir up trouble.

It'll be very challenging for the duo to succeed.

Let's not let our guard down. I can feel it's different this time.

Follow them.

Keep me posted on everything.

Yes.

Hello, the gin and tonic you ordered.

Thanks.

- I'll have a Mojito. - Sure.

Remember, the mint must be crushed until you get the juice.

Use half a lime.

Add the sucrose before the mint.

That will bring out the rum's sugary scent.

Different layers of flavors will then be created.

Thanks.

- Hold on. - Yes?

I'll have a Mojito just the way she ordered.

Hi, I am Nina.

I'm Cicely.

Mr. Roman, I appreciate that you are willing to meet us.

This is our proposal.

Director Li, Director Shi, I agreed to meet you

not because I want to discuss the auction.

I merely want to make some friends.

I know. Ocean is a great hotel. But Zhengde is just as great.

They have a long history as a hotel.

Our objective is to work with the best there is.

Mr. Roman, I must thank you for acknowledging Ocean Hotel.

I was told you and your wife would stay in Shanghai for quite a while.

May we have the honor of inviting you and your wife to stay in Ocean?

I appreciate the offer.

But Zhengde Hotel has provided us with remarkable accommodation.

The next time I come to Shanghai,

I will be sure to experience the top-notched Ocean Hotel.

This tastes amazing.

Mojito for the first love, gin and tonic for the crush.

To create this sweet and sour flavor, the key is none other than

the lime.

When Roman proposed to me that night, this is how it felt like.

It was at the venue of the 19th Thomas Cup.

He proposed right before the crowd.

That sounds very romantic.

Was it the time Larson turned the table?

Why? Are you interested in badminton too?

Yes.

It seems we can get along very well.

Mr. Roman, please give us five minutes to explain our proposal to you.

I'll be honest with you, Director Li.

My company has signed the letter of intent with Zhengde.

If nothing goes wrong, we will not make any changes to our plans for the partnership.

Mr. Roman. The reason you chose to hold the auction in Shanghai

because you want to open up the market of artwork auctioning in mainland China.

You chose to hold the auction in a five-star hotel

because the hotel would have a clientele

With all due respect, my father is the current president of Hengye Bank.

Our bank also has an outstanding clientele which possesses great resources.

Many of them are art enthusiasts and potential buyers.

If you choose to partner up with Ocean Hotel,

I assure you your company will have the best clientele

of both Ocean Hotel and Hengye Bank.

Mr. Roman, I'm sure you know

for an auction to be a success, the key is record-breaking selling price.

For this upcoming auction, our bank will provide a specialized loan

to stimulate and increase the purchasing ability of our clients.

I believe it will greatly increase the chance of an item being sold at a record-breaking price.

For both parties, this is the best advertisement.

That's right.

Mr. Roman, you mentioned you wanted to work with the best partner there is.

I believe with Ocean Hotel and Hengye Bank joining hands, we'll be unstoppable.

So I really hope you can reconsider our proposal.

We will make sure the auction is one that makes headlines and history.

Honestly, I am tempted.

But Director Li, you must understand.

In business, a promise must never be broken.

I gave them my word, so I never change my mind so easily.

Honey.

Honey, let me introduce you.

This is Director Li's girlfriend, Miss Su.

- Su Xieyi. - She and I get along very well.

Miss Su here is also a fan of Larson.

She also invited both of us to a badminton match.

Is that so?

I hope I have the honor. Mr. Roman, will you accept my challenge?

Sure.

I've heard the Romans was crowned the best players in the financial industry.

It'll be Xieyi's honor to have a match with both of you.

Why don't we have a double to make it more fun?

I'd love to experience your prowess as badminton players.

If that's fine with you, we'll be glad to.

That's great.

Director Li.

Don't worry, I'll manage.

See you at the badminton court.

See you there.

Please.

- See you later. - See you.

Let's go, Honey.

We should go too.

Hello, Chairman Huo.

A badminton match?

This is interesting.

Miss Su, Zeliang can't play.

You must stop him from joining the match.

There are things worse than you can imagine.

Director Shi, I am well aware of the situation.

If you know the risk, you should stop him from playing.

It'll only do him more harm.

I'm not harming him.

It's just that... I believe in him.

Perhaps he is much stronger than you think.

You just refuse to believe it.

Mr. Roman, see you at the court.

Chuchu...

I'll play on your behalf.

Never mind. I'll do it myself.

Are you ready?

You take care of the rear side.

I'll leave the front side to you.

- No problem. - Okay.

Director Li.

Mr. Roman.

Are you sure about this?

Of course.

Very well. Let's begin.

Sure.

♫ Perhaps destiny got bored of all of this ♫

♫ The two rivals run into each other ♫

♫ Passed by, all is forgotten ♫

♫ Showing up after the next corner ♫

Why is he here?

♫ You're looking for the danger signs ♫

♫ I was too headstrong and made it worse ♫

Ignore him. Serve.

♫ So the effort for love doesn't go to waste ♫

♫ The two heartbeats spike ♫

♫ An alarm for reality sounds ♫

♫ So why wouldn't I run for my life? ♫

♫ What should I do with this rivalry ♫

♫ So you wouldn't mistake it for a downplay ♫

♫ I've practiced so many times ♫

♫ I won't lose so soon ♫

♫ Keeping your only secret ♫

♫ Is the proof of me falling for you ♫

♫ I hope you notice it ♫

♫ And feel what I feel ♫

♫ This rivalry is far from over ♫

♫ Love is the proof of us underestimating it ♫

♫ I'm waiting for you to convince yourself ♫

♫ Please answer as I did ♫

♫ So believe me ♫

♫ All it takes is a little more courage ♫

He lost.

No. He won.

Mr. Roman. I lost.

I hope... we can still be business partners.

Let's go.

Director Li.

You are truly a strong one. You left me impressed.

Congratulations, you've won yourself an overtime.

That's great, Zeliang! We did it!

We've won ourselves an overtime! This is great!

It's great to be young.

Director Li, put on the blanket.

The doctor specifically told you not to partake in sports,

especially vigorous sports.

This isn't the first time.

Don't get too worked up.

Yingsong, you know,

this is the happiest day I've had in two years.

Over the past two years, I've gotten used to living like a worthless person.

All of you took care of me meticulously.

You tried not to hurt my pride.

I understand.

You did it for me.

That was also why I've never got upset over it.

But Su Xieyi is different.

She understands me.

Only she treated me like a normal person,

a healthy person.

Miss Su is very unique.

Certainly.

I knew she'd be different from the others

when I first saw her.

Why the long face?

By the way, how is the mission I gave you?

Don't worry, Mr. Li.

I've ordered my man to get Miss Su a room at Ocean.

She'll be living in the hotel lately.

Huo Jian's henchmen wouldn't dare to hurt her there.

I'll get some hot water for the warm compress.

Okay.

♫ The flower that's been asleep for too long ♫

♫ Is emanating its fragrance ♫

♫ Be my lover ♫

♫ I've wanted to tell you ♫

♫ You're the most beautiful girl that I've ever seen ♫

♫ You're the sunshine for me ♫

♫ The brilliant moment of the firework ♫

♫ Is far from a match for me ♫

♫ How long will it be? ♫

♫ Before I can finally hold your hand ♫

♫ I'll Waltz and tell you ♫

♫ Because you're my angel ♫

♫ Baby, I love you ♫

♫ I feel you, I need you ♫

♫ I want to be happy because of you ♫

It's been so long since I last played. My entire body is sore. [From Su Xieyi]

How are you holding up?

I'm fine. [From Li Zeliang]

You need to exercise more.

We should go rock climbing together.

Sure, I'm game.

[Incoming call: Chuchu]

Hello, Chuchu.

Hello, Zeliang.

Tomorrow at 9 AM, Mr. Roman will come to our office for a final negotiation.

Before that, there are some minor details I wish to discuss with you.

Sure.

I just finished making the adjustments.

I marked all the parts that require more attention.

I've sent the file to your inbox.

Sure.

[Inbox]

I got the file.

How is your leg?

I'm fine.

Zeliang.

I'm glad to see you get it together again.

But I must say,

you were too reckless today.

Whatever the case is, your health must always come first. Is that clear?

Chuchu. You know me well.

Once I've made up my mind, I'll see it through.

Check the email.

Let me know if there's a problem.

Okay. I...

I'm not harming him.

It's just that I believe in him.

Perhaps he is much stronger than you think.

It's just that you refuse to believe it.

♫ I don't know how to win your heart ♫

♫ I don't know how to be the one for you ♫

♫ To be good enough for you ♫

♫ But you're just like a distant star ♫

The heroes in legends will always rise when the world doubts them.

All the best tomorrow.

[Li Zeliang gave a like]

♫ Before my heart comes apart ♫

♫ Circle of love ♫

The most novel part of our proposal is the auctioning.

Not only are we combining both online and offline bidding simultaneously,

we will always cooperate with your company to build a collection IP,

uplifting the reputation and the value of your auctioning items.

Aside from the novel approaches for the auction and quality accommodation service,

we will also hire the security that is renowned internationally

to provide protection throughout the auction.

Internally, we will start giving training regarding security measures

to make sure the whole process is executed flawlessly.

I hope you can give us a chance to prove our worth, Mr. Roman.

Let us present to the world a flawless and historical auction.

Director Li, your proposal is indeed filled with refreshing ideas.

It's very comprehensive.

As I mentioned before, I want to work with the best there is.

I can say for sure that you

are certainly it.

Mr. Roman, I appreciate that you chose us over your partnership with Zhengde.

That requires a great capacity on your end.

Therefore, we will not let your trust in us go to waste.

On one hand,

your proposal and your sincerity are very assuring.

On the other hand, I stumbled upon an unpleasant event at the Zhengde Hotel

when I was there yesterday.

It was lost at this very hotel.

You must be responsible for this.

Sorry. We are searching for it as we speak.

Searching for it? It's been one week, and you've found nothing.

Please be patient.

We have a lot of customers, so it takes time to investigate.

Forget it. You might as well just pay for the loss.

I'm tired of questioning you.

Lady, your item was never with us for safekeeping.

As the policy goes, we are not responsible for the loss.

Watch your attitude!

Many priceless and exquisite items will be present during the auction.

We need rigorous security measures.

I cannot entrust these items to a hotel that is so irresponsible.

I find your security solution very impressive.

It's rigorous and comprehensive.

It's assuring to know I can leave the auction in your hand.

Thank you for the acknowledgment.

We appreciate the compliment, Mr. Roman.

This partnership is pivotal for both of our companies.

Therefore, I will see to everything personally.

I see.

Uncle, as the chairman, your hands are full of many works.

Perhaps I should be in charge of the auction.

After all, I know the plan best.

Zeliang, I'm glad to know you're so determined.

But you are still a recovering patient.

The auction will be a lot of work.

It's best not to let your body take a toll.

- Uncle... - Chairman Huo.

Perhaps you should have witnessed the exciting badminton match

Director Li and Mr. Roman had yesterday.

They were evenly matched.

He is in great physical condition.

Preparation for the auction won't be a problem for him at all.

Chairman Huo, I chose Ocean Hotel over Zhengde

not only because of the potential it has,

but also because I personally respect Director Li.

I believe in his capability.

By the way, you might not know it,

but Director Li and Miss Su managed

to defeat my wife and me with a great lead.

Since you think so highly of him, Mr. Roman,

Zeliang, make sure to give it your best.

Do not ruin it.

Don't worry, Chairman Huo.

I assure you, Mr. Roman, that I won't let you down.

Great.

By the way, Miss Su,

my wife told me you taught her to use lime for cocktails.

The result was superb.

I hope to try your cocktail when I'm at Yunfeng Hotel.

Of course.

Please let Mrs. Roman know that I will prepare a cocktail for her. She will like it.

Sure.

Li Zeliang was out of line!

He sidelined you in front of everyone!

Can't you tell?

As per the rules, a new chairman will be re-elected soon.

If he's trying to get attention now,

his target won't just be Yunfeng Hotel.

Those who supported Zeliang's father was displeased that you were elected.

Li Zeliang is in the picture now.

If the auction is a success, you might—

It's easier that way.

If it's the attention he wants, let him try.

If he flops,

he will never rise again.

Indeed.

The auction will be held at Yunfeng Hotel instead of Ocean Hotel,

but Yunfeng Hotel's General Manager, Chen Hengsheng, still works for you.

I need to reconsider every step of this game.

It could be an opportunity for Li Zeliang,

but it could also be mine.

Mr. Li, this is the file on the auctioning items

and the guests' registration details.

Are you okay with going to Yunfeng Hotel?

If it's too hard for you, you don't have to go.

I must go because it's Yunfeng Hotel.

Very well. Pack up your things. We'll set out tomorrow.

So soon?

What? Is there a problem?

No.

Director Li, may I apply for a day off?

Before we go to Yunfeng Hotel, I want to pay my sister a visit.

She's sick and is in a hospital.

Sure.

I'll be going now.

Wait.

Stay safe. Return to the hotel before nightfall.

I will.

Yingsong, Xieyi is going out this afternoon.

Follow her.

I don't want any trouble before leaving for Yunfeng Hotel.

Yes.

Here are your mung bean cakes.

Thanks.

[Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center]

Xieqing, are you drawing Xieyi?

What are you two drawing?

Speak of the devil.

Xieqing, is that me? I'm not that fat.

Fine, that's me.

I'm the fat one, okay?

Check out the snack I brought you.

This is your favorite mung bean cake.

Here.

Xieqing. Clean your hands before eating.

Come on.

- Okay, you can eat now. - Here.

You're working today. How did you make it here?

I took a leave to come here.

I'll go on a business trip tomorrow.

I can't visit my sister for quite some time.

Where are you going?

Is it Yunfeng Hotel?

Yes.

It's the same Yunfeng Hotel refurbished from Zhiwei Building.

Xieyi, Chen Hengsheng is in charge of Yunfeng Hotel.

He's a cunning one.

Make sure you stay safe.

Don't worry.

I am Li Zeliang's personal assistant and his official girlfriend.

He wouldn't dare to harm me.

- Besides, he wasn't the true culprit. - What do you mean?

Chen Hengsheng was taking orders from Huo Jian.

Zhiwei was closed down because of Huo Jian's doing.

Hou Jian is Ocean Hotel's chairman.

You are no match for him.

Whether that's the case or not, we'll have to try to know.

Xieqing? What's wrong?

Were you choking?

Come on.

Have some water.

Here.

Sister, be patient.

I will apprehend the culprit that ruined our family from Zhiwei Building.

You will get well by then.

Am I right?

Let's hope that day comes sooner.

It will.
