[Lie to Love]

[Episode 2]

Chairman Huo, Yunfeng Hotel has become one of the three candidates

for Fujiade Auction's partner selection.

Our meeting today will mainly discuss the latest bidding tender.

- Winning the tender is a good opportunity for Yunfeng's publicity. - Yes.

I've told you we are in peak season.

I told you to reserve all the rooms.

Why did you allow online booking?

I was worried if the rooms of an entire floor weren't available to be booked online,

it'd be too suspicious.

I'm in charge of this matter.

Do you know how much money a room can make during the entire peak season?

I understand. What should we do now?

Go back now.

Destroy all correspondence and relevant documents.

It's... It's nonsense.

It's all nonsense!

Turn it off now!

Turn it off!

Enough!

Wait.

I-I'm sorry, Chairman Huo.

I'm sorry. It's my fault.

- I deserve to die! - Enough.

In my office now.

Su Xieyi.

A Hannover University graduate majoring in hotel management. [Interviewer]

You have good results. You did very well in every subject.

Fluent in German and Italian?

Yes. Tell me, which is your favorite hotel?

The Surrey Hotel in Auckland.

It has a British style and is similar to a bed and breakfast hotel.

Any reason why?

The founder of the hotel is the descendant of a survivor of the Titanic accident.

Maybe because the family had experienced life and death,

they cherish the present and the memory of old acquaintances more.

And they have more faith in the beauty of life.

What is a hotel to you?

As we all know, there's a saying in our hotel industry

that a hotel is people's second home.

But I have to disagree

because there's only one home, which is irreplaceable.

I told you to keep an eye on the one surnamed Li!

I never asked you to cause any trouble!

Chairman Huo, we were very cautious.

S-Someone must be behind this.

Could it be that Li who did it?

This happened when he had just come here.

Yes, it must be him.

We'll know if it's him after we look into it.

[Control Center | No Admittance]

Uncle Bai.

- Miss Yi. - Uncle Bai, no need to get up.

Okay.

Well, I need to check the monitors in the control room.

I need recordings for the last 12 hours.

Okay.

Do you like Ocean Hotel?

Of course.

Ocean Hotel is my goal.

I can see from your resume that your job preference

is the General Manager's office?

Mr. Li, the board of directors has decided

to dismiss Lin Tai officially.

Here are some new resumes submitted by the HR Department to you.

I major in hotel management.

Ocean Hotel is the hotel that I want to work for the most.

It's Number one.

What's wrong?

Why are you panting from sending the resume?

It is the hardest to serve the prince. Have you watched the drama?

The most difficult task in the palace is to accompany the prince to study.

[Zhu Zhenzhen]

Come in.

Mr. Li, I've gotten the medicine from Dr. Wu.

Why are you looking at all these?

Anyone sent by the HR Department must have been arranged by Huo Jian.

One of the moles has just left.

Huo Jian is so anxious that he's trying to send some more here.

Even if we can't find a trustworthy one,

we can at least reject them, right?

The problem is, this happened to Secretary Lin as soon as you came to work.

Huo Jian will definitely suspect you.

Miss Su Xieyi, [General Manager's Office, Ocean Hotel]

congratulations on passing your interview

and becoming part of Ocean Hotel.

You're welcome to join us officially tomorrow.

General Manager's Office, Ocean Hotel.

Hello, I'm Su Xieyi, reporting for duty.

Welcome.

This is the employee handbook and your desk.

Work hard.

Thank you.

Hello there. I'm Gong Mingyue.

Hello. I'm Su Xieyi.

Did you see that Lin Tai just now?

Have you heard of it? About what happened.

I'm new, so I'm not too sure. What happened?

How could you not know about it? You missed out on the whole drama.

It's about giving private discounts on hotel rooms.

Secretary Lin and Chen Shan, the manager of the Housekeeping Department, were behind all that.

We just don't know who exposed this matter.

Two people were fired at the same time.

So ruthless.

That person did well.

That person did what I didn't dare to do.

If I know who that person is,

I'm going to reward them with bravery awards.

They completely disregarded the prince.

The prince is still here. You're going to make the prince come out here.

Get back to work.

Quickly now.

She came as expected.

Please stop what you're doing now.

Listen to me first.

Everyone knows that Lin Tai was fired, right?

The job of the secretary of the Deputy General Manager is important.

It can't be delayed even by a day.

Anyone who's free for these few days can temporarily fill in as the Deputy General Manager's assistant.

I can't.

I'm currently preparing a plan that needs to be completed next week.

Jessica, I'm busy with the report forms, so count me out.

- Lately, I... - Gong Mingyue, if you have time to watch Palace drama,

I'm sure you have the time to be the assistant.

I wasn't watching it for fun. I'm studying their attires.

We're going to hold a palace theme event later, right?

You and your excuses.

I can go.

Come in.

Mr. Li, this is your temporary assistant, Su Xieyi.

Hello, Mr. Li.

Before the new secretary is confirmed,

she'll temporarily take over Lin Tai's work for these few days.

All right.

You can leave now.

I want to talk to Miss Su.

Okay.

This is the access card of the office.

Do your best.

Okay.

Did you say he hired a new employee as his assistant?

Yes.

Let him be.

By the way, how did it go at the control center?

I watched the footage from a day before the incident.

There wasn't anything unusual.

Do you mean no one unrelated went in?

I even checked those from the broadcasting room.

He had no idea at all.

How can there be no trace at all?

The timestamp is a little odd.

But in terms of motive, Li Zeliang is the most suspicious.

Do you think he's just pretending to be weak?

He already knew we sent Secretary Lin to watch him.

So he appears not working but sent someone to look into Secretary Lin.

I guess I underestimated this nephew of mine.

Uncle Bai, can you copy this for me?

Okay.

- Also... - Don't worry.

I'll clean it up without any trace.

You were the one who exposed Secretary Lin.

Yes.

Why?

As a newcomer who came for an interview,

I happened to record such filthy affairs.

My sense of justice does not allow such a person to exist.

Moreover, I already said Ocean Hotel is my number one.

So I won't allow anything like this to happen.

Is that all?

No.

Thank you for letting me be your assistant.

You can say we're even now.

In the future, I'll need your guidance on work.

All right. I'm done.

If there's nothing else, I'll get back to work.

Hello, Yingsong. I want you to look into someone.

What are you snapping?

I was snapping at the beautiful view.

By the way,

you said you returned from overseas.

Were you studying abroad?

Yes.

Which country?

- Germany. - Germany?

I came back from studying in Germany, too.

I studied hotel management.

Really? Which university are you studying at?

I already graduated.

The University of Hannover.

What a coincidence.

So you're my senior.

Really?

Hello, Junior Sister.

Senior, you're very fortunate today.

I'm going to let you eat the most delicious crab roe noodles in the world.

Okay.

If you stir the crab roe like this,

it's only going to be the world's number two.

It lacks some soul in it.

That's impossible.

This is handed down from my ancestors.

Besides, how do you know when you haven't even tried it?

Listen, crab roe itself smells fishy.

So it will smell fishy.

Moreover, this crab roe of yours was under the sun for a long time.

We've already passed the best time to eat it.

- If you want to get rid of the smell, you should add... - Vinegar.

Vinegar won't help.

What should I add then?

[Plum Wine]

Give it to me.

Actually, it's best to add Shaoxing wine when cooking crab roe.

Crab roe cooked with Shaoxing wine is fragrant, delicious, and not greasy.

However, using plum wine is okay too.

Why are you smiling?

I wasn't.

You were looking at that side...

What is it? Let's talk inside.

You asked me to look into your temporary assistant, right?

- What did you find out? - Based on her resume, Miss Su used to live in Germany.

So I sent someone to dig more and found that she had been hospitalized for some time two years ago.

Hospitalized?

Did you find out what she was treated for?

The medical database system is different. Besides, it concerns the privacy of a person.

So it's difficult to get more info.

You can stop investigating.

I'll do it myself.

- Hello, Director Li. - Hello.

Mr. Li, it's this way.

I'm used to walking this way.

- Director Li, hello. - Hello.

Hello, Director Li.

Where's the contract?

Li Zeliang, are you this childish?

- Is it sweet? - Yes.

Don't tell your mom about this.

Let's pinky swear.

Hello?

Miss Su, did you work overtime on your first day at work?

Don't look around. I'm not that free to be following you around.

On your first day at work, I'll treat you to dinner as your superior.

I'll send the address to you later.

Director Li, you've brought your friend with you today.

Do you come here often, Mr. Li?

Every time I think about crab roe noodles, I'll come and eat here.

That's right. Our crab roe noodle is the best and the most authentic.

Miss, please take a look.

I'll have crab roe noodles as well then.

- All right. Two bowls of crab roe noodles, right? - Only one.

Give us two empty bowls.

We'll be sharing.

I only prepared one serving. Let's share.

Let me do it.

Having too much of a delicacy like this can be overkill.

Just one taste of it could make this life worthwhile.

The view is beautiful.

The position of this tree is too perfect.

Do you think that someone moved this tree here from somewhere else?

If that's the case, it must be suffering.

Why?

Trees have memories, too.

If you move a tree along with its roots to a different ground,

they will suffer, too.

Because they can't forget their past.

Some trees slowly die because they can't get used to the new soil and environment.

Only the trees that can adapt and forget their past completely can survive.

It sounds pretty sad when you put it like that.

But exchanging a new life with memories seems to be worth it.

You may say so, but humans aren't objects, after all.

You've gone too far.

You cooked it with so much effort. I must eat more to show my appreciation.

Hey! I'm not a kid anymore. There was no need to hit me when I dropped my chopsticks.

It has nothing to do with age.

You need to be hit three times if you drop your chopsticks. It's my habit.

What kind of habit is that?

You have no idea, right?

There's an old saying: "you need to be hit three times if you drop your chopsticks."

The first hit means you're a fool.

The second hit means blessing. It is to wish you happiness

as "chopsticks falling" and "happiness" sound similar in Chinese.

The third hit indicates that you'll get hit by someone very soon for dropping your chopsticks.

People around you will hit you symbolically.

That way, we can prevent you from getting beaten even worse.

Petty tricks.

So you're trying to bring up the past to test if I have lost my memories.

All right. Bring it on.

Miss Su, what are you thinking about?

I think you must take care of your health.

You can't eat too little.

This is the first time someone has said this to me.

As your temporary assistant, it's my obligation to take care of your health.

Your easygoing personality makes me feel close to you.

Close?

It's like we've met before.

Also, we've eaten noodles from the same bowl.

That's what we called deja vu.

Most people would have experienced that before.

Things they've never done before and people they've never met,

yet they feel familiar with them.

Then do you feel familiar with me?

For someone like you, anyone would want to know you earlier.

I wasn't that fortunate.

But it's not too late to know you now.

I'll give a toast to you with noodles instead of alcohol.

- I thought it was supposed to be three... - What?

Oh, no. I almost gave myself away.

What did you say just now?

Fishy.

I said fishy.

This crab roe smells a little fishy. Don't you think so?

Yes, it's fishy.

We'll just add some vinegar.

It'll smell even fishier if you add vinegar.

What should we add, then?

- We should add... - Shaoxing wine? Plum wine?

Every step is a trap.

We should not waste time and just order another one.

Excuse me.

The crab roe smells fishy. Can you make another bowl for us?

Miss, you can't wrongly accuse us.

- Our crab roe noodle is the most authentic. - Just make another bowl.

- But... - I'll pay for these two bowls.

Su Xieyi, you should stop talking.

What are you doing?

Don't be nervous.

I just found the view opposite to where I was sitting wasn't good enough.

I wanted to change seats.

What are you doing?

Nothing.

I just want to sit here so I can enjoy the same view as you.

You don't think the view you just saw looks beautiful?

It's beautiful.

Shameless.

You didn't say that two years ago.

Are you free later?

I want to take you somewhere.

A place where we can see the sunrise.

[Ming Hao]

Hello?

Xieyi, do you have time for a meal tomorrow?

What? Now?

All right. I'll be there right away. Wait for me.

Why are you in such a rush?

I said I'll be there right away.

I'll leave now.

Director Li, I'm sorry.

Something came up.

What's the hurry? Do you have another date?

My friend wants to see me urgently.

I'll drive you there then.

It's okay. I can go myself.

The entrance is that way.

Lawyer Xie, look. [Haotian Law Firm]

If it weren't for you, our daughter would have been abused for nothing.

- Please accept this. - It's okay.

Please. It's a small token of appreciation.

No, you don't have to give it to me.

Since it's free legal aid, we won't accept any kind of payment.

- But you've helped us. You're our family's benefactor. - Yes.

The law helped you. I'm serious. Take it back.

I suggest your daughter should consider changing her job after she recovers.

She has gone through so much. I'm worried that her previous job

will bring bad effects on her mental health.

We'll tell her that. Thank you so much.

Then we'll get going if there's nothing else.

Take care.

- Okay. - Thank you.

Not bad, Lawyer Xie. It was a timely help.

You're the best talker in the family.

Thank you for the compliment.

You went for an interview at Ocean Hotel.

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

You just set up your law firm, and you have to take care of your sister.

I was afraid you couldn't manage.

Besides, if I fail the interview, it'll be too humiliating.

I think you thought I was too busy to take care of you.

Brother Ming Hao, you know I must get into Ocean Hotel.

Xieyi, listen to me.

You're in a dangerous situation now.

If the perpetrator finds out your identity and motive,

no one will know what they will do to you.

Don't worry.

My mom and I left the country early.

No one could recognize me ten years ago.

Let alone now.

What about Li Zeliang?

Him?

I've already worked out a plan.

But the police had found that Uncle Shen's death was due to suicide.

There was nothing suspicious about his death either.

Besides, he did leave a suicide note. He wrote it clearly too.

But all of you didn't see what I saw.

If you insist on looking into it, you'll need to find the poison contract.

Before signing the contract, it was clearly written

that the penalty for the breach of contract was five million yuan.

How did the penalty increase more than tenfold on the day of signing the contract?

Someone was obviously up to no good.

Then... Do you know where the contract is?

I've searched his office. I didn't find anything.

Also, he didn't come to the office before.

If he's always at home,

could the contract be...

That's it.

It must be at his place.

What are you thinking about? Let's see if I can help.

Brother Ming Hao, you already did me a favor. I'll get going now.

Where are you going?

I got it now. No risk, no reward.

Yingsong, fix this buckle.

Mr. Li, you shouldn't rush it.

You could make your workout less intense.

I can't.

Huo Jian would never have dreamed

that you're desperate to recover after putting his guard up all the time.

But judging from Lin Tai's incident, he's still suspecting and doubting you.

So no one else should know about this place other than you.

Yes.

Uncle.

What? Aren't you going to invite me in?

Uncle, please come in.

It's already late. What brings you here suddenly?

It's been a while since I last visited you. I happened to pass by today.

Are you alone at home?

Have you forgotten that I've always lived alone?

Have a seat, Uncle.

Zeliang, why is your house so messy?

Does no one help you clean?

How about this? I'll ask Yi Fei to come and clean the house for you.

I'll ask her to bring some plants.

You'll be in a better mood looking at plants.

It's okay, Uncle. I live alone.

It's actually more comfortable to be a bit messy.

All right.

Take a seat. Don't just stand there.

Okay.

I don't have anything else to drink. How about some beer?

No need. No need to bother.

Come. Have a seat.

Look at your clothes.

You look sloppy.

It's been so long since you last worked.

How did it go?

You've seen it yourself. I can't even manage my subordinates.

I've let you down.

You've only returned to work for a few days. You can't take all the blame for what Lin Tai did.

It's my fault for overlooking it.

But who do you think released that video of Lin Tai?

It was very odd.

Indeed, even you can't find out who did it.

It is quite odd.

Logically speaking, if an outsider did it, there would be some trace left.

Do you think this person is working at Ocean Hotel?

Why don't I help you look into this matter together?

It's a small matter. No need to trouble you.

You should focus on work.

I heard the General Manager's Office had arranged a newcomer as your assistant.

What on earth are they thinking?

Don't worry. I'll arrange a candidate for you myself.

You're always busy. No need to waste time on this small matter.

The newcomer is a woman.

Perhaps she's more meticulous.

I'll see how it goes first.

Okay.

Zeliang,

you must not lose heart that easily.

I feel assured to have you at the company.

I still have many things to learn from you.

Stop drinking all the time. Ocean Hotel will be yours in the future.

I'm only managing it for you.

Your dad left the hotel to me before he died

because you were too young then.

He wanted you to gain more experience.

It's a shame

that my brother-in-law passed away too soon.

He didn't see you for one last time.

You were the one my dad trusted the most.

It has always been that way.

You're right.

Your dad is not only my family.

He also discovered my talent.

I won't be where I am without him.

Mr. Li, your climbing gears have been repaired.

Fancy seeing you here.

Hello, Chairman Huo.

Are you still practicing rock climbing?

That's perfect. I want to know about rock climbing, too.

Let me see it.

Well, why did you think of repairing your gears?

Didn't you tell me to exercise more?

You know I like rock climbing.

So I told Yingsong to bring out all my rock climbing gears.

I didn't know many of my gears were damaged because I hadn't been using them for so long.

So I asked Yingsong to get me some new ones.

I'll be going to the club to start climbing again.

I'm relieved to hear you say that.

This painting is really not bad.

If you like it, I can give it to you.

Yingsong, take down the painting and wrap it for Uncle.

No need.

I'm your elder. I can't take away what you like.

Moreover, even if I like it,

I have to hold back.

It's only a painting. No big deal.

All right, then.

I'm glad to see that you're okay.

It's getting late. You should get some rest too.

I'll be heading back now.

Okay. Thank you, Uncle.
