One of the chapters I find fascinating is letting your radar distract you.

Can you share what do we mean by that?

Well, Marshall, in the last book I wrote The Female Vision, I learned doing the research that, in

fact, there are very, very real differences in how men and women's attention or notice is engaged.

Women's brains are processing more information at the same time, whereas men are operating more like

laser are going on from one point to the next.

This can have great value in organizations being able to notice and read the room.

Notice what how other people are reacting, et cetera.

But it can also, on your leadership journey, undermine you because you're taking in a lot of information.

You can get distracted from the main point.

I think it's one of the things that can result in women not being as concise as they could be because

they feel like they're getting a lot of information and they have to share it.

And if they're talking to a laser noticer, that laser noticer isn't necessarily going to value or even

understand are going to think, what is she talking about?

So being able to discipline your radar is a great skill for women, not suppress it, because there's

a lot of information out there that's very valuable to being able to discipline.

It is important not letting your radar distract you.

And again, because if I'm the person in the room, I might look at you and feel she is being distracted.

She's not focused on me, for example.

And that is going to take away from your influence over me if I am the powerful authority figure in

that room.
