Habit seven is the perfection trap, if you have a tendency to think that you either have to do a perfect

job or else you've failed and you put yourself under that kind of stress, you are probably a perfectionist.

Now, being a perfectionist can serve you well early in your career.

And in fact, research shows that women tend to be valued and promoted based on precision and correctness,

where men are more likely to be valued and promoted based on big picture, strategic thinking and boldness.

But being a perfectionist will definitely get in your way as you seek to rise.

First of all, you'll not only create stress for yourself, but you'll increasingly create stress for

those around you.

I've been working in this field for 30 years and I have yet to hear any one person say I work for perfectionistic

boss and I love it.

You will cause stress for others through your perfectionism if you're in a position of authority and

influence.

Moreover, you'll also have a tough time delegating because somebody else might make a mistake.

So you'll end up doing once again too much work.
