Reluctance to claim your achievements, women tend to be much worse at marketing than men, much worse

than men.

And part of it is another thing we talk about this ridiculous belief that my good work should speak

for itself.

Many of you have thought my good work should speak for itself as if God is going to fly out of the sky

and recognize your good work.

God probably has better things to do this week than fly out of the sky and recognize your good work

if people's good work would speak for itself.

No company would need a marketing function.

They just make good products and run around and buy them.

You would wouldn't need a marketing function where your good work won't speak for itself.

You are your own marketing function.

That doesn't mean you brag and show off and all that stuff.

It means, though, you need to think about how can I effectively market myself?

And by the way, if you're too obvious about it, that's not effective marketing.

That's just bad marketing.
