Women tend to overvalue expertise, number two.

I mean, by that, Sally taught me this saying that I love.

Women often sacrifice their career for their job.

Much more than men, and it's a very counterintuitive concept, I didn't it took me a while to understand

the concept.

Women often sacrificed their careers for their job.

And what that means is you're doing like a 95 percent quality job.

You want to make it ninety nine, better, better, better.

As opposed to saying I should be investing in the next job and make peace, I'll give you a personal

story.

My own life, I did a program for the New York Stock Exchange that Rick Cully's my friend is a client.

I get rated four point eight out of five.

I go to Rick and I said, Rick, how can I make it four point nine?

He said, You're asking the wrong question.

He said you rang four point eight out of five, some people don't give fives.

You can spend hours of your time trying to change a four point eighty four point nine, who cares?

You ought to be asking, how can you advance your life, your career?

How can you write more, how you can think more, become a better person?

There's a million things you'll be doing.

Decide this.

The women as women are much more likely to try to change four point eighty four point nine than that,

as opposed to saying, you know, this is not a good use of my time.

What I'm doing here is good enough.

I'm doing a good job.

I don't have to do a perfect job.

It's good enough.

I need to think about my future.

The other thing is women are much more likely to become psychologically addicted to their teams.

To the point of offense, not getting promoted because they don't want to leave their team not wanting

to go to another company because it would feel disloyal to my team.

Most men, if you come to them and say, OK, here's another job, 10 percent more and a few more perks,

where they say to their team, love your team.

So nice to work with you.

Really enjoyed.

It has been a peak experience, you see, but they give me 10 percent more money than you, so bye bye.

I mean, I look I see this every week.

I work with CEOs.

Right.

And division presidents.

I mean, literally, I go to one of these programs and senior vice president Jim gets up and gives a

pep talk about I love Merck marks the best company in the world.

Burke is such a fantastic company.

I would I love Merck is just wonderful.

Two weeks later, he gets a better deal.

And Pfizer, you know, Pfizer is amazing.

I'm sorry.

I'm so glad I went to Pfizer like Marriott Marquis.

Find a way to help better, you know?

Well, yeah, that's about it.

Women are much more likely to just get psychologically connected to their team at the expense of their

careers and literally not want to get promoted because they will feel disappointed, I'll quote, let

them down.

And by the way, none of these are bad things.

Let's keep on making a book.

Many of these are positive qualities at some point.

What got you here won't get you there.

Somebody wrote a book about that.

Well, at some point that's a positive quality.

And another point is you're you're not becoming the influential person you could become because you

have become psychologically addicted to your team.

And it's OK if you want to do that.

You can't have it both ways.

So I can't stay in this job and move to another job at the same time.

It doesn't work.

You had to make a choice.

And we're not saying that we should make the choice if you do want to do your same job and be perfect

and stay with the same team.

Go ahead.

Don't complain about getting promoted, though.

Because you're standing in your own way.
