really connects to my roots.

was very unique and powerful.

incredible control

in the tonality of her voice --

giving me energy back.

I feel sorry for the one fan

Looking back on
my blind audition experience,

I was very emotional.

My mother was diagnosed
with what's called

early-onset Alzheimer's.

She passed away
in 2019 at age 54.

I wrote a song about it.

I'm proud to say that song
that I wrote has now helped

raise close to $50 million to
help fight against Alzheimer's.

Oh, my God!
I'm crying.
That's a song
that he wrote, too.

Like, that gave me tears,
like, chills. Everything. Wow.

Everything I do, especially
musically, which is my life,

is to honor my mother,
her life, her story.

I know music.
I've toured the world.

And it's kind of
a two-for-one

'cause I'll just ask him
if I have a question...

was so nerve-racking.

I could see that they've been
in front of audiences already.

so on point to me.
