I started learning
Hank Williams,

Elvis, Johnny Cash.

I kind of try
and pick and choose

the good parts
of each one of their voices

that I like and try to make
my own sound out of it.

When I'm not doing music,
I'm with my dad.

We do our own screen printing
and embroidery.

We put basically
anybody's logo on anything.

he passed away due to COVID.

from San Diego to Los Angeles,

I got a pretty harsh dose of

In more recent years,
I'm now a teacher,

and that sort of funds
music for me.

It's definitely hard doing both,

more than a full-time job

When I went into teaching,

to do music full-time,

that dream can --

once it's inside you,

I don't think
it ever really dies.

My family moved here
to escape war in Lebanon

and find new opportunity.

my Lebanese culture.

My faith
is incredibly important to me.

It's something that has

and it's synonymous
with goodness for me.

There is a wide history
in my family of musical people.

Dad and his brother
used to have a band in college,

and that was actually
what introduced me to music.

One day, out of nowhere, he got
me like a cheap starter guitar.

all my parents knew
is that you work hard.
