All language subtitles for 4. Apply these setting and use these shortcuts

When doing an online course and trying to learn about a program at the same time, generally speaking,

what you have to do is you have to jump between the tutorial that you're watching and the program that

you're trying to learn about.

So what I would like to do in this tutorial is just introduce you to a few shortcuts that I use when

I actually do courses myself.

And these shortcuts just make life a whole lot easier and a whole lot more efficient.

Tutorial There are two resources one for Apple computers and one for Windows computers.

And obviously, you'll probably only need one of them.

But basically, I've listed these shortcuts that I use in this tutorial, plus a few extra on those

two resources.

Now, with regard to the Apple resource, it has many shortcuts on that resource because I don't actually

work with Apple computers and I had to go find this information out and I couldn't find some of the

shortcuts I wanted.

But what I did was I just guaranteed that you had the main shortcuts listed on that resource.

So you just download any one of those after this tutorial, print it out and keep it nearby until you've

learned these shortcuts.

But I'll go ahead and make a start.

So like I said, I have some shortcuts that will make life a lot easier.

And I think maybe if you used a computer for more than 10 minutes, you may already know a few of them.

But one shortcut I usually use quite a bit is just going into full screen using a key.

So if I'm watching my tutorial, so I've just got my Excel course up and running here, you can press

play this point.

All I have to do is press enter.

And let's say, OK, I wants to go full screen.

All you'd have to do is just press f on your keyboard and you'd go full screen now as you're watching

the tutorial, and I don't have to press play to do this, even though it will work if you play the

video if I wants to skip along.

So let's say forward in the video, all I'd have to do is just press the right hand arrow on my keyboard.

And as you can see, I'll just move the cursor around to bring up the timing bar here at the bottom.

As you can see, I'm actually skipping forward by pressing the right hand arrow.

And if I wanted to go backwards, I can press the left hand arrow to go backwards.

And if I press up on my directional arrows, I can increase the volume and then down to decrease the

volume.

And then obviously I can press the spacebar to play it and then spacebar to pause.

So that's pretty handy.

But when it comes to jumping over to the program, you're trying to learn about.

This is where it can get a little bit tricky for some or I suppose, just a little bit annoying.

Normally what would happen is you would have your taskbar here up and running now, usually on a computer.

It shows all the time, but I have mindsets so that it actually drops out of the way, so I have to

press the windows key on my keyboard.

So press the Windows key, and normally you have to go to the icon or the program that you're trying

to learn about and then click on the program, carry out whatever you want to carry out here.

And then once you're done, go back to your taskbar, go back to the browser and then you can just press

the spacebar at this point to play the tutorial.

Now, the shortcut to do this quickly and efficiently is just to hold down the alt key and then very

quickly press the tab key.

And it will jump over now just to let you know.

Sometimes it is a little bit temperamental, and I think it has something to do with the computer just

trying to register what you're trying to do at first.

I think it's just a bit of a bug with windows, but basically you hold down Alt once again and press

the tab key once and you jump back over to the tutorial.

Now, if this doesn't work for you, what you can do is you can hold down alt and control and press

the tab key.

Then let go of all of the keys and then this window will appear.

And here you can just use your directional arrows to choose where you want to go to.

So I want to jump over to the Fillmore, a video editor, so I can just direct my arrows to that application.

Press enter.

And here I am in the video editor.

Do whatever I need to do.

Hold down alt control and press the tab key once again and actually without even having to use the direction

arrows.

I can see that the media player is already selected, so all I have to do is press enter and I can jump

back over.

I don't know how much time I started to save in my professional and personal life when it came to using

my computer.

But basically, that is a very powerful shortcut that I think anybody should know when it comes to using

a computer because it's just so handy.

So a hold down alt and control and press the tab key.

Press, enter and remember, though, you do have that shorter one which is just holding down alt and

pressing the tab key.

But mine's a bit temperamental today.

For some reason you come back to the media player, press the spacebar.

All of these sound and carry on with your tutorial.

So there's just a few more things to show you as you're going through this course.

If you find that I'm speaking too fast or maybe even too slow.

You can speed me up or slow me down.

You can just move the cursor around, come to the one times here and here.

You can adjust the speed of the tutorial, so you definitely want to take advantage of this if you want

to.

And then finally, if you find that your computer is struggling to load the videos, then quite possibly

you will have to lower the screen resolution, and that can quite easily be done with this gear icon

here.

Click on this and here you can choose a lower screen resolution, and the videos should load a little

bit faster.

And one last thing you have captions for the videos, and those can be turned on by clicking on this

icon here, the icon.

But just to let you know they are auto generated, so you will see a bit of a mistake every now and

again, but you do have captions here if you want to use them.
