for Christmas Eve,

and he carved it out of the wood
of a magnolia tree,

and I still remember
that it smelled like blossoms

when I opened the box.

He said to me, "Robert,
when you want something

really special
for Christmas,

and you've got a desire
in your heart,

make a wish, ring that bell,

and the gift will find
its way to you."

So I wished that day
for something I really wanted.

A tool set.

One I still use today.

And every Christmas Eve
I make a wish,

and as I get bigger,
the wishes get bigger,

and pretty soon
I started wishing for...

For Mom to marry you?

[laughs] And a family.

This bell has given me so much,

and it's become
such a gift for our family.

And now we can make our wish,

but only if you girls know
