Welcome back.

In this video, we are going to talk about traditional publishing versus self publishing with traditional

publishing, publishing houses like Penguin, Random House, Hachette, Lievre, HarperCollins, Macmillan

Publishers.

They buy the rights to your book for distribution and marketing.

This means that they call the shots when it comes to your work.

They are also super strict and selective when it comes to the screening process.

They don't just pick a random author from whoever sends the manuscripts.

In fact, maybe one out of 300 only get published these days.

Especially, they prefer authors who already have an audience and have gained some traction with their

work.

So if you don't have an audience and you don't have a large social media following, your chances of

being published by a traditional publishing house are slim.

But self publishing is different with self publishing.

Absolutely.

Anybody can do it and be an author.

Perfection is also unnecessary.

I have seen authors with ugly book covers, but they get a ton of sales.

So if you think that you have no writing skills or no design skills, it's still not an excuse.

You can still do this with whatever knowledge you do have or have not.

You can easily outsource the work to someone else.

Here are the benefits of self publishing.

One you can instantly upload your work and minutes.

The approval process may take hours or even days, but they almost always get approved.

Amazon wants to make money and they will not discriminate your work as long as it complies with their

standards.

There is also no barrier to entry.

Some online platforms needed to do all sorts of stuff before uploading your work.

But with Amazon CDPR, you don't need to do all that at all.

You, as the author have full creative control again as long as you comply with the rules.

Amazon also gives a high royalty share with e-books.

You get a 70 percent royalty, share a 60 percent royalty share for paperbacks and 40 percent royalty

share for audiobooks.

Finally, you can potentially use your publishing income to replace your job.

Nobody wants to work a nine to five forever.

I mean, I know I don't.

So as early as now, you should be able to build your online real estate generates several streams of

income and self publishing is one of them.
