fair play to both families,

and my videotape was the evidence.

and the families could move on.

But it didn't always work out like that.

But when he did win,
he turned around and said

that there was no Nevin
that ever would beat him.

Different names beat my father
and beat his uncle in Muff.

There's a fair in the county Cavan,

I fighted him with three fractured ribs,
where they beat me.

Four days before that at a wedding,
a big load 19 or 20 young fellas beat me.

I went home to Cork.

They sent the word down after
if I didn't come to Dublin to fight James,

they'd kill me and the children.

Burn us below in the caravan,
so I had to come back and fight.

I went, I knew I couldn't win. I was
too bad, should've been in hospital.

I went out and fight,
and lasted him for ten minutes.

That's the reason why he's no good,

because if I got him
in the position that I was in,

I would have knocked him out,
and badly hurt him.

And then he got headstrong

I sent for him five times after,
he wouldn't fight.

Years ago, I was even bullied.

to go to the boxing club.

I was never forced into it,
like a lot of Traveling young lads now

is forced to go boxing.

It's, "Oh, I want a son.
I want a son that can box."

I was never forced into that.

I went on my own free will,
because I was bullied.

Genuinely kicked up and down
the place sometimes.

So I went for a couple of years
and got that sorted out.

Sixteen years onwards, up till about 24,

I never put gloves on, was never a fight.

And then this Ditsy Nevin
come along at me sister's wedding

and started all this crap up.

I hit him, he went down, that was it.

And he couldn't take that.

He was asked to forget about it
the next morning, let it go.

It's only, you know, a pub fight.

He said, "No, I was made a show of."

He says, this, that and the other,
"I want to fight. I want to box him."

So we boxed three days after.
He lost in three or four minutes.

I have to tomorrow win
for the sake of not just myself,

but for the sake of our people.

Isn't it as simple as that, lads?
To let those Nevinses know

that we're still upper hand.

If I do win tomorrow, I will say that
your man will be going to hospital,

because I am going to hurt him
