North Carolina
just became the 30th state

to announce
its ban on gay marriage.

that I think same-sex couples
should be able to get married.

You know, uh, Malia and Sasha,

they've got friends whose
parents are same-sex couples.

And, uh, there've been times
where, uh, Michelle and I

have been sitting around
the dinner table

and we've been talking about
their friends and parents.

And for Malia and Sasha,
it wouldn't dawn on them

that somehow
their friends' parents

should be treated
any differently.
