The athletes alliance was in tatters

after Ross and Abbey
flipped to the other side.

Waking up on day 11,
I guess past days I've woken up

and straightaway my mind's
sort of gone to game play.

You know, this morning I wake up

and sort of straightaway
I know it's my son's fifth birthday.

You know, I go down to the beach,
take a stick

and just in the sand I just put,
"Happy birthday, Riv."

And then one...

He's a big reason
as to why I'm doing this.

- There we go.
- He'd love it.

He'd be stoked.

The toughest part about Survivor
right now for everyone

is being away from home.

My lifeline out here is Shaun.

I've been really lucky
'cause I've come in here

and I've really found someone
that I've connected with.

It's horrible. Horrible.

Shaun and I are very similar
in the way we think.

The same dry sense of humour.

Definitely share the same work ethic.

I grew up on a cattle station
in South-West Queensland.

People on the land
work from sun-up till sundown.

My mum and dad's definitely
instilled a pretty hard work ethic.

In the game of Survivor
you've gotta work hard to win.

I like to think I'm pretty
persev... perseverent?

Persistent. I'm pretty persistent.

Probably annoyingly persistent
sometimes, but persistent.

My family and my friends are my world,

and they mean everything to me.

I'm super-lucky that
I've come in here

and found someone that from day dot
I've known I could trust.

Shaun's probably the nicest person
ever put on this earth,

eats rainbows for breakfast
and is just so positive.

A shocking night's sleep. Freezing
cold. Wake up to the beautiful sun.

- Yeah, I'll say. Rocking.

I really hope that, like, you and I

don't get split up in the tribe swap,
but you watch.

It feels really good.

I mean, I came out here,
one of my goals was to find an idol.

So, I guess I'm three-quarters
of the way there.

But I have to make contact
with one of the Champions

and try and sneak it to them somehow,

which is a pretty risky move.

I mean...

..the only chance we really see
these guys is at challenges

and stuff, so the thought of
being able to pull that off unseen

is really pretty scary.

- Mmm.

Yeah.

But if it was done right
and I gave it to the right person,

it could really, really come back
to me as a good thing.

Tribal council last night
for me was a real mind-bender.

I was almost certain
that I was on my way out.

- Underarm only.

Nova got blindsided.

Right, straight down the middle
of the 11 and 12.

Kind of feels like I've been
thrown a lifeline.

Oh, it did! It did!

And I plan on doing something with it.

The power has obviously shifted
amongst the Champions tribe now

and I'm on the bottom.

Eh? You haven't seen it before,
have ya?

My strategy is to
work on my social game,

to try and build relationships
with people...

Luke, we're world champs, man.

..like Ross and Luke,

and hopefully cement myself
a better position in the tribe.

I think the social aspect of the game
is probably something

that I didn't think
would have as much impact.

That's why the game's so fun, you know?

You think you're out
and then you're not.

Steve has no clue
how to play Survivor.

He came up to me and said,

"Man, I just had no idea the social
game was such a big aspect of this."

The social game in Survivor
isn't a big aspect?

It's very important,
in general, my brother.

of Survivor, Steven, OK?

And you're gonna get a lesson in that.

To be honest, I think
I'm in a pretty powerful position.

I've got good alliances going
with Abbey...

..I've got a great one
going with Luke,

and I feel, like, super-cinched up
with Janine and Pia.

These guys think
I'm just a pretty face.

I know what the model stereotype is,

Like, you're a little bit dumb, you
know, you're not kind of with it.

I'm playing the most complicated
game out here right now.

Me right now, my game's perfect. The
only thing missing is my own idol.

And I think Janine for me is the key
for getting a real idol in my hands.

At the last reward challenge,

I see her dip down and slip a little

Now I'm in a great position because
I know she's got access to an idol.

Today, she comes straight to me and

And I'm like, "Yes!"

On the other tribe

and at some point we need to make
a switch so that they become useful.

So, for me, that means when
we actually are with the Contenders,

we wanna find someone looking at us,

and then if they know
what we're looking for,

we know what they're looking for,

there will be a nod
or a wink or something.

Now Luke has got an idol
and Janine's got an idol,

I know about two idols.

I need to figure out how to make
one of these idols my idol.

It wasn't a dynamic tribal at all,

as soon as we got back to camp,

and, you know, we're moving forward.

and basically got everything covered.

I think thus far
it has shown to be true.

a little bit more individual.

To say that we were excited

The last evening with my father

enjoying the fish and chips

That went viral, the guy
that almost drowned on the rocks.

These are 80-to 100-foot waves and...

..I wiped out really badly.

I got dragged along the bottom

and came up right against the rocks...

..and just got slammed over them.

When you come off one of these waves,

it's like getting hit by 315 cars
in a row on the highway.

15 minutes I was in there,
no-one could see me.

I was just so close to drowning.

I mean, it makes me appreciate
so much more.

I get to go home to a beautiful family

and that's what, for me, life's about.

With rugby league, they wanted to
start attracting females to the game.

So they were trying to spice things
up and so they flew Tina Turner over

to help us sell the game
to all the women out there.

And we actually had a ball with her,

she was just so down-to-earth,
she was unreal.

It was a great campaign that one, it
really turned the table on the game

- and, yeah...

That was back in the '90s.

I explained that, ah, I had
a 6-week year-old, um...

Yeah, we had a daughter six
weeks before coming on the show

and she was diagnosed
with cystic fibrosis.

That's obviously me holding
her, in intensive care.

the night... we got her home.

Hopefully, she's, you know, waiting
for me, when I get back so...

Yeah.

Being a father is, to me,
just means everything.

I'm a father of three kids.

Two have got autism...

..and my little girl has
got cystic fibrosis.

I haven't succeeded in sport or
whatever but, you know, my boys...

..daughter and wife, that's what
I obviously treasure the most.

If I win $500,000, it would be
life-changing for my family.

It would give my kids the
future that I wanna give them.

So that's why I'm doing it.

You know, Luke, he's
really an amazing, lovable guy.

You know, he's a family man,

you can see how much being away
from his family affects him.

It's really nice to hear the stories

of the crew that you're now living with.

Yes, you know everybody's
playing the game,

but you've just gotta put
that aside for a few minutes

because these are some
pretty incredible people

and I'm in elite company.

the idol's just on my mind.

I have to assume that Dave has

but, can I trust David?

So I'm going ahead with it.

I've gotta sort of, you know, do this
thing with two tribes watching

and just hope that we can get away
with it.

It was cool, hearing
each other's stuff at the lunch.

So now I know that Shaun
has the brother or sister idol

for the Champions tribe.

The problem is Janine wants to keep
her idol until there's a tribe swap.

I'm not really into that idea.

Ah, I'm gonna try and convince her
to let me play a fake idol

and switch it with him
for the real Champions idol

and then Davey's got a idol.

I need Janine to become a part
of this fake idol plan

because she has the paperwork
for the Contender idol.

I'm pretty good at crafting.

I've been stealing little bits
and pieces of string here and there

and I have found the perfect
little skull.

The skull happens to have come
from our tree mail box.

Big moves like this that change
the entire landscape of the game

are how people win.

Now I'm feeling actually
pretty confident about this idol.

I'm like, "Actually, this is a good-looking
idol. Maybe this is gonna work."

I'm crushing the game right now,

like, I almost feel untouchable.

How was your afternoon
at the fish-and-chip shack?

I tell you, everyone was so happy.

and we had a good sleep

Do you think the more you avoid tribal,

the more united you become?

Yeah, absolutely.

We, uh... we go into every reward
trying our hardest,

but some of the match-ups

just favour some of the big guys
over there.

Three professional footballers on
that side in the reward yesterday

makes... is always going to make it
tough for us.

But I think we found,
in the immunities,

where the team has to pull together

and you've got everyone
out on the course,

that's where the Contenders
have sort of come to the fore.

You know, we've been to tribal
two more occasions

than the Contenders,

and we're sick of it, to be honest.

We don't want to send home anybody else

to solve a block puzzle

that they'll attempt to knock down
using the sandbags.

their puzzle wins immunity,

safe from the vote.

where one of you will be voted out.

have had extreme physicality in them

and I would say that the rest of us
have carried Pia

through most of them

"because you've got big shoulders

"and can't make it through
a small hole."

Like, we match up in different ways.

And sure, you know what, in a
wrestling match, I can't match up.

But in other things,
