(Glory of Special Forces)

(This series is Shanghai's major literary and artistic project)

(Episode 15)

Shots fired at seven o'clock.

Yun Jie, I'll guard the window. I'll leave the door to you.

Yes.

Squad Leader, we have guests at one o'clock.

I'll take care of it.

Let them in.

Understood.

Squad Leader, another group is coming.

They're at twelve o'clock.

They will encounter...

Yun Jie, be patient.

Let them fight with each other.

Report!

Group Three is eliminated!

Where is Group Seven?

They're a bunch of cowards.

They're plotting a skirmish.

Depleting manpower blindly is useless.

I think they're waiting for an ambush.

Many skilled soldiers take part in this selection.

If they solely rely on ambush,

they can't go far.

If I fire the rifle now,

all of them will be eliminated.

Make sure you hit the targets all at once.

Listen to my instruction.

Three.

Squad Leader.

We shouldn't hit them.

Why?

According to the rules,

murdered enemies are not taken into consideration.

Only those who survive are taken into consideration.

Yan, if we eliminate all of them,

our survival chances will increase. Am I right?

We have 47 hours to go

before the selection ends.

If we continue fighting,

what are the chances of us surviving the trial?

Keep the rifle.

Squad Leader.

Yan.

What should we do now?

Since yesterday,

I only had two to three hours of sleep.

Are you two not sleepy?

I'm sure he is not sleepy

but I'm a little sleepy.

Xiao, you and Squad Leader may take a nap.

I'll take a nap when you're up.

Since they're fighting with each other,

we'll take advantage on both sides.

What are you talking about?

Isn't it obvious that we're merely being cowards?

Yun Jie, take a rest. We need to maintain physical strength.

Po Yue, wake me up in two hours.

What is going on?

How dare they take a nap?

It seems that

Group Seven will sleep for the rest of the trial.

They're keeping calm in chaos.

I think they're taking the chance to cheat.

We mustn’t allow that to happen.

Come on.

Send some supplies to Group Seven.

Yes!

Squad Leader, Xiao, wake up!

What's wrong?

Are our enemies here?

Check out the sky.

It's supply! Let's grab it!

Let's go!

Squad Leader.

Why don't we snatch the supplies?

When the blue coloured smoke rises,

it can be seen within the radius of one kilometre.

Everyone will see it.

Even if we grab the supplies,

we won't be able to take it without getting ourselves killed.

If someone is here to grab the supplies,

do we kill them?

It depends on the number of people. We'll kill them if necessary.

There are three people ahead of me.

They're at the highland at three o'clock.

There are at least two people.

Hold on. Don't move yet.

Take the supplies and run!

Stop hiding! Come out!

Where did you get the truck?

Squad Leader Xiao found it!

It's so convenient to move around in the truck!

We're from the same squad.

We don't attack our own people.

Stay alive! I'll see you in the final round.

What is so proud about finding a truck?

Lu Tu.

You're here.

Captain.

Calm down. Why are you in a hurry?

The person that you recommended has not made an appearance.

If she's made the appearance,

I bet others wouldn't even have the chance to show up.

You're over confident.

Let me share a secret with you.

In this trial,

I sent someone really skilful.

Do you mean Yan Po Yue?

No way!

He is arrogant and conceited.

He cares about nothing but to show himself off.

Calm down. What he said

reminded me of his younger self.

Who are you referring to?

What if he enters the final round?

We'll discuss about that when it happens for real.

There are so many ways

to chase him out.

Here comes my special guest.

Someone is here!

Where are they?

Don't get startled so easily. No one is here.

Be careful.

Cowards, come out now!

The chance to take part in the trial is hard to come by

and I'm eliminated for nothing!

I admit defeat

but you should at least show up.

Let me see you!

You have the guts to fire the rifle but you don't have the guts to show up!

You're a coward!

Where are your teammates?

What do you think?

How is my special guest doing?

He's indeed something.

The best of the bunch

is nurtured in the regular troop, too.

In order to transform the commando into special forces,

comprehensive military capability is necessary.

We need to select the best of the best.

He was so close to them,

yet he managed to ambush them while moving.

I guess even his breathing is trained.

Furthermore, he's experienced in actual combat.

But as far as I'm concerned,

among the participants,

none of them can do that.

He isn't a participant in the trial.

He's merely going through the motions.

Don't tell me it's him.

Let me make myself clear.

I recommended him.

Did you take him back?

Why did you stop?

I need to answer the call of nature.

You gave me a shock!

Hua Ping, come with me.

You're indeed from the same regiment.

You guys even answer the call of nature together.

Just in case anything happens, we can keep a close watch of the surrounding.

Don't move!

Are we not going to hit them?

He's not from our regiment.

He can only blame himself for being unlucky if he's eliminated.

Buddy, may I know your name?

I'll train harder whenever I think of you.

Bai Long.

Okay, I got your name.

As expected, he's Bai Long.

He joined the army in 2008

as a member of Cheetah Commando.

Throughout his service in the army,

he took part in serious anti-terrorist mission on many occasions.

He received many awards because of that.

He's known as the divine dragon of the commando.

But he's retired back in 2015.

What is he doing here?

If Bai Long hears your compliments for him,

he'll be really happy.

But he's retired.

Does this conform with the rule?

Is he joining the army for the second time?

Not only is Bai Long a great soldier,

he's also a great son.

Back then, his mother was terminally ill.

Bai Long discharged himself from service to take care of his mother.

He stayed by her side until she passed away.

This is the second time he applied to join the army.

Why didn't he apply to join the commando?

I can't do anything.

That's what he requested.

Initially,

the higher up has agreed to let him rejoin the commando.

But he insisted on fair treatment.

He said that he's left the army for some time.

Be it his stamina or battling skills,

he requires reassessment.

As you know,

Bai Long has a one-track mind.

But allowing Bai Long to take part in the trial

is more or less unfair to others.

He's so experienced in actual combat.

Look.

It took us a long time to find a few talented soldiers.

He'll wipe them out in no time.

What else can we do?

Anyone who chances upon Bai Long

can only blame themselves for being unlucky.

Why did you stop me from attacking him?

Do you think you are a match for him?

He's discovered us a long time ago.

Why didn't he fire the rifle at us?

I have no idea.

That person is something.

If we miss this chance,

it'll be difficult for us to get rid of him.

We'll keep him alive

so that he can get rid of our opponents on behalf of us.

We're the only two surviving.

We can form alliance with others.

Bear it in mind.

When you're chased after by a tiger,

you don't have to run faster than the tiger.

You only need to be slightly faster than the people beside you.

That's enough.

Will you do this to me?

Don't worry, I won't do that to you.

We're buddies from the same regiment.

Slow down!

If you don't have the guts to eat it, you should leave it to me.

What a waste.

You have no guts to eat it.

Weren't you excited when you caught it?

Squad Leader.

I thought we would grill it.

If we light a fire,

we'll become someone else's target.

Someone is lighting a fire.

Darn it!

Someone is coming!

This way!

Darn it!

Run!

Run!

Run!

I didn't even have time to catch my breath!

Yan Po Yue!

Check the window and see if it's safe for us to go out.

It's safe.

Xiao Yun Jie, cover everyone.

Yan Po Yue, jump out of the window!

Squad Leader!

I'm okay. Hurry up!

Hide away!

If we're given two steamed buns now,

I'll wipe them out in no time!

Why didn't you ask for something else?

You shouldn't have thrown the pigeon away.

You can only regret now.

It's a big fire. I wonder how it started.

Squad Leader, we're not prohibited from setting fire, right?

Are you saying that someone set the fire on purpose?

What else could it be?

Something bad happened!

It's sniper!

It's sniper!

Fortunately, we ran away.

It's time for them to be attacked.

Yan Po Yue,

can you locate the sniper?

If he fires one more time,

I'll be able to locate him.

Come out.

Fire one more time.

Squad Leader.

I can't take it anymore. The smoke is killing me.

Run away like how I taught you!

Understand?

Not bad.

The sniper didn't have time to aim.

He's at the rooftop of the building in the northeast.

Hurry up! Run in different directions!

So, you're hiding over there.

Darn it!

We exposed our location. Back off!

Squad Leader.

Are we not going to fight against the sniper?

We have two more days to go. What is the rush?

Let's go.

The sniper is quite efficient.

Who is that?

She's recommended by me.

Not bad.

She's quite skilful as a sniper, but...

But what?

She's too arrogant.

She doesn't even have an observer with her.

Even if she's skilful,

no way she can last until the end.

Unless...

Unless she can form alliance with others

and work hand in hand in the battle.

I have faith in her.

We'll wait and see.

Look at you two.

You two bring in your own recommendation.

This trial

is full of hidden talents.

She is not any ordinary talent.

In her regiment,

her nickname is Lone Wolf.

Don't fire the rifle.

I don't have any malicious intention.

The two shots that you fired just now

were indeed eye-opening for me.

If we were not in a trial,

I would love to seek guidance from you.

In general, snipers are good at long range shooting

but not good at melee attack.

However,

I can tell that you're extraordinary.

Am I right?

Under normal circumstances,

after choosing an ambush location,

snipers will make predictions in advance

on the spot where a melee attack may take place.

They'll bury remote control bomb around the area

to ensure their safety when they're alone.

I think you've done the same, right?

I'm not here seeking for trouble.

Please don't act rashly.

Think about it.

Two groups will be chosen in the finale.

We don't have any conflicts of interest.

I have two other members in my groups.

If you're agreeable,

I'll ask them to come up and join us.

They admire you, too.

I'm serious.

Come out.

Relax.

Put down your rifle.

If he intends to attack you,

you two would have lied on the ground by now.

Put it down!

To date,

one third of the participants are eliminated.

You're safe

because you're capable.

However, there's something more important.

The spot that you chose

is not easy to discover.

At the moment, there are many participants.

This strategy is still intact.

However, when it's the final round,

the participants will reduced.

It's almost impossible to avoid melee attack when the time comes.

Things will become more difficult for you.

Now, I've a win-win solution.

You'll in charge of long-range shooting

while the three of us will keep you safe.

I promise, we'll end up well.

I bet you're not left with sufficient supplies and ammunition.

I know of a supply point nearby.

The three of us will work together to get us some supplies.

You can have all the ammunition.

Buddy, you can let us know your requirement!

Is he a dumb?

Stop!

Yan Po Yue, how far is it?

Two kilometres.

Stay alert.

Darn it.

Squad Leader.

Don't worry. It's just a bruise.

We've walked for a long distance after all.

I'll be fine after taking a break.

Let me help you.

Hang in there.

Can you hang on?

Are you kidding me? We've come so far.

I'll hang in there as long as my head is still intact.

Something is going on.

What happened?

I think someone is targeting us.

Where are they?

Look at that stand-alone building.

I saw someone passed by the window on the second floor just now.

How many are there?

I'm not sure.

Squad Leader, should we fight against them?

It's getting late.

We won't survive the night if we don't fight.

Don't worry.

Let's go!

Xiao, we're tricked!

I searched high and low but I didn't find any bomb!

I should have killed him with a shot just now!

If we ever tried to fire a shot at him,

he would have shot us down by then.

Who is he?

I didn't see him at the assembly in the morning.

Don't bother to find out his identity.

He refused to work with us.

We'd better pray that he doesn't work with others too.

Once he forms an alliance with others,

it'll be difficult to deal with him.

It's getting late.

We need to settle down.

Let's go back to the truck. No where is safe.

There is a man by the window.

I'm not sure about the first floor and rooftop though.

There could be people.

Attack now.

No way, they're at a higher position than us.

If we attack them now, we'll get into danger.

They have the geographical advantages.

If we manage to take the building down,

it'll do us good.

We can ambush soldiers that pass by the building.

They're having the same thought as you.

Get ready to attack.

-Are your legs okay? -Don't worry. I'm fine.

Are we going to fight against them?

It's getting dark!

Things will be so much more complicated if we attack them at night.

The stand-alone building is eye-catching.

We can protect ourselves as we see clearly in the broad daylight.

But if we take down the building at night,

we may be caught by others in no time.

Hide away!

Someone discovered us! Attack them!

Xiao!

Xiao Yun Jie!

Be careful, Xiao!

Squad Leader, let's part ways and meet up with Xiao in the middle.

Okay!

Yun Jie!

Are you okay, Squad Leader?

I'm okay.

Come on. It's time for those who are eliminated to get on the truck.

Squad Leader.

Can we have some food? We're famished.

Here.

What are we having for dinner? Hotpot?

No way. We're going for grilled lamb.

Sure.

Comrades, hang in there!

We're going back for good food!

-Let's go! -Let's go!

Your tummy is growling.

My tummy is not growling. It's yours.

Stop talking. Save up on your energy.

Squad Leader.

Ever since we left the camp,

we haven't eaten anything.

I know where we can get food.

Where?

You saw it earlier.

You mean...

Do you mean the truck that picks up the eliminated participants?

Robbing the truck is against the rules.

Squad Leader.

Is that against the rules?

I don't deny that there is no such rule.

Let's think about it.

Let me make myself clear.

You're only allowed to take the food. Don't ever think of truck hijacking.

Squad Leader, you're talking rubbish.

How do we get the food without hijacking the truck?

We'll play it by ear.

There's something else.

We'll do it. You'll stay here and take a rest.

What are you thinking? No way I'll let you do that.

Goodness, who is so immoral?

They blocked the road.

What are you doing?

Let go of me!

You're going against the rules!

This is against the rules!

What are you doing?

Open your mouth.

Is it really okay?

We don't have a choice!

What about him?

We'll leave him here.

What?

Yan! Squad Leader!

There is nothing in the truck. I only found two bottles of water.

Buddy, where do you keep the food?

No food.

Why are there food in the other trucks?

They're kind-hearted.

I'm not going to take care of your tummy, rubbish!

Let go of me now!

What should we do?

We'll drive the truck around to look for food.

Squad Leader, do you have any objections?

You promised that you won't hijack the truck.

We don't have a choice.

You two are making troubles!

This brat is doing it again.

He attacked his own people.

Captain.

Does truck hijacking consider as breaking the rules?

What is the aim of the trial?

It's a survival game.

Did he leave the assessment area?

No.

That's right.

The truck is within the assessment area.

During the trial in the past,

many participants went out of control due to hunger.

However, this is the first time

someone hijacked the truck.

Yan Po Yue...

He's making use of the loophole to his advantage.

He merely lives by his wits.

It depends on how he makes use of his wits.

I think it's quite well done.

They're not prohibited from truck hijacking.

Squad Leader!

There are supplies at four o'clock. Can we take it?

We've hijacked the truck anyway. Of course we'll take the supplies.

Squad Leader, I love the instruction!

There is a supply.

What is the rush?

We'll kill them before the sun goes down.

Xiao, when we're there,

we two will go down to get the supply.

Get back to the truck once we get the supply!

Squad Leader, you'll drive the truck to cover us.

Yan!

You're quite good at giving commands.

We'll hit anyone who stands in our way!

The truck will cover us up!

Watch out! There's grenade!

We're almost there. Get ready.

They're fighting!

Get ready!

Take the supply! Now!

Qiao, run!

Put it down.

Stay away from the supply.

It's bait.

Hide away. Now!

Let's go.

Xiao, why are we keeping him?

We'll keep him as the target.

You!

Keep quiet. Turn around.

Buddy.

I can eliminate you with a shot.

If you work with us,

you may continue taking part in the trial.

What do you think?

Let's go.

Go there.

Stop there. Open the supply box.

Throw the supply to us.

Don't fire the rifle! We're from the same regiment!

Yan Po Yue! Xiao Yun jie! Don't fire the rifle!

Come on, do it. Why do you stop?

What's going on?

Why don't you attack them but us?

We're from the same regiment.

So what?

Do you know where we are now?

Only the fittest survives and the winner takes it all!

You're not abiding the rules! I'll lodge a complaint against you!

Shut up. You're dead.

Let the living person talk.

You guys received supply earlier.

That's right. We gave you the supply.

We deserve to get some supplies this time.

I think

those who arrived first should have the supplies.

Squad Leader,

we reached here first.

Since you're calling him Squad Leader,

it's about our friendship in the same regiment.

If you want to talk about friendship, leave rules out of it then.

Cut the crap.

Just say if you'll give it to us.
