In July 2009, I was part of a convoy

sent to supply a Special
Forces forward operating base

in Afghanistan with chemical explosives.

The whole operation was codenamed Dynamo.

Despite the importance of
our mission and our cargo,

we were lightly defended,
undermanned and under equipped.

We hit a roadside IED outside
a village called Khakjab.

It was an ambush.

Then an RPG hit the
truck containing the HMX

and that went up and took
out a school we were passing.

We were being attacked,

and then villagers came
out from everywhere, angry.

And they tore into us as well.

We tried to fight back, but
there was too many of them.

You know what I did? I ran.

fucking ran for my life

and left those boys behind.

The soldiers killed were
covered up as non-combat deaths

due to an RTA.

You wouldn't even tell the
families what really happened.

wing for three months

while they figured out
