And he would do whatever the Klan
told him to do, and my father knew that.

So my father did what he had to do.

He went to a meeting
and begged the leader of that chapter

to talk to the owner of the bank.

And at that meeting,
that's when that photograph was taken.

The only reason he was there
was to try to save our farm.

Now, Calvin Underwood
hated himself for going to that meeting.

He hated himself
for taking that photograph.

But he would've hated himself even more
if he'd lost our farm...
