which tell how the first Basilisk
was born of a chicken's egg,

hatched by a snake during the solstice

in which the stars of Sirius
and the sun are closest together.

I guess that explains why snake meat
tastes so much like chicken.

So, how do we stop it?

from this thing.

can drive it back into the darkness.

Others have suggested
that the sight of its own reflection

can turn it into stone, but…

Apparently, the only sure-fire way
to defeat it is with the Eye of Medusa.
