a plane ride, a bus ride,

and a car ride just to get to Mexico.

Then another car ride to get to the pyramids in Chichen Itza.

SAM: Look at that pyramid.

MOLLY: That's where we met our friend, Tomas.

SAM: He's a pyramid expert.

Who built this pyramid?

It was built by the ancient Mayans,

over a thousand years ago.

How long did it take them to build that thing?

TOMAS: It took a lot of time.

Probably more than 20 years.

Do you know my baby-sitter has a pyramid like this?

No, really?

Yeah, it's the same as that one,

except it's really little.

Hey, Tomas, do you think we can

climb to the top of the pyramid now?

MOLLY: Sam, do you know how many days there are in a year?

SAM: We had our cameras in our backpack.

that was kind of like basketball and soccer,

except they couldn't use their hands or feet.

SAM: I couldn't wait to play, but first we had to climb down

those 91 stairs.

What kind of lizard is that, Tomas?

TOMAS: That's an iguana.

That's only a small one.

Well, I know how we got up,

but how are we going to get down?

You have to go backwards first and then hold the rope.

MOLLY: It was a lot harder climbing down.

On our way to the ball court, we passed a little market.

called Playa del Carmen.

SAM: That's right beside a beach.

MOLLY: But before we went to the beach, we explored

part of the town, the market part.

There were huge hats,

SAM: And even a band.

SAM: My favorite thing in the market

was a guy that made lights out of coconuts.

Then we found a playground.

MOLLY: This playground was a lot like ours at home.

SAM: Except it had a beach beside it.

MOLLY: In the park, we met our friends, Nikki and Michelo.

SAM: After we played for a while,

we went back into town for a...

TOGETHER: Water Fight!

MOLLY: Not from the ground, Sam, not from the ground.

All the playing got us a little bit hungry.

MOLLY: So we stopped off for a bite to eat.

SAM: The restaurant had lots of pictures on the walls.

MOLLY: That's a picture of two people getting married.

Sam was a little more interested

in the mini Mexican flags on the table.

SAM: There was tons of candy and confetti inside.

the largest wild land animal in Mexico.

Time for us to cool off with some watery friends.

MOLLY: Dolphins are usually found

in the oceans around Mexico.

SAM: So we were really lucky to swim with these ones.
