Previously on "Cardinal".

You embarrassed me in front of my students.

You wouldn't answer your phone.

I'm fine.

Lise Delorme.

Yeah she was investigating him,

thought he was dirty

when he was covering up for your phone call.

All he ever wanted was to protect you.

You better not be using again, Kev.

I'm not.

Anybody in the truck?

No, car's registered to Raymond Bedford.

Here he is.

Raymond Bedford.

Ray Northwind.

You know what? You keep it.

I'm out.

There is no out.

You work for my now,

alive or dead.

I want the redhead,

where is she?

In protective custody.

This was inspired by Palo Mayombe,

but that's not what this is.

What do you make of the missing body parts?

You put them in your iron pot,

you would need fresh blood to keep it working.

More sacrifices.

The most potent time would be at new moon.

Everyone out, now!

I didn't recognize her power before.

Bring her back to me.

I need her alive.

Piper.

I need to see the security footage.

It's inside.

Uh, the Chief said the fire was contained to the shed.

We're good to go back in.

Lise, inside.

I'll be right there.

They think the fire started in the crawl space.

That's him.

Leon Rutkowski.

Let's see that again. And slow it down.

We think he's the one who shot her.

Find anything?

Nothing to tell us where he took her.

Must have been watching the place,

and picked his moment.

Somebody told him she was here.

Yeah, who?

The only people who knew she was here

are the other women.

And our team.

We've got BOLOS out on

Terri and Kevin Tait,

Raymond Bedford,

and Leon Rutkowski.

He might be driving

an older model blue car.

How did Leon know what shelter to hit?

Look, if anyone in this room said anything to anybody,

now is the moment to speak up.

We're not going home until we find them.

Tomorrow is the new moon.

That's Bedford's favourite day

for ritual sacrifice.

Ray, I'm sorry.

I had only three rules.

I know.

When my mother tried to get clean.

She said it was like being ripped open.

Death would be a relief, wouldn't it?

Please.

It's only going to get worse.

Given you enough, Kevin.

Now you're going to give me

all your pain.

Yeah.

Yeah, okay, thanks.

Yeah.

John.

Went back over the Toronto unsolveds.

Ran them against the name 'Raymond Bedford'.

I might have something. Take a look.

Aaron Osborne.

His torso was found in the Don River, 2016.

Missing head, hands, and feet.

Same as Dave Elhurst.

What's the connection to Bedford?

Both from Sudbury. So I checked.

They went to the same elementary school

in grades two to five.

Nice work.

Get me everything you can on Osborne

and anyone else who knew them both.

Already on it.

Bedford has a sealed juvenile record.

He attacked his foster parent-

She died of cancer two years ago.

I-I managed to track down his social worker.

Sandra Mason. She's on her way in.

You're on fire, McLeod.

Good.

They found your truck.

They know your real name.

They know that you threatened the chief

in Moose Bay.

You gotta let the Tait girl go.

Alan, relax.

My work's not finished here.

Jesus, you gotta get out of here

while you still can.

You're asking me to give up everything

I've worked so hard for.

I'm trying to protect you.

You're trying to run me out of town.

If you go down, I go down too.

What did you expect?

I get rid of Lasalle,

you get rid of me?

You know, I...

think you should get Evie a new bike.

'Cause that old red one is just too...

it's too small for her.

Now.

Who am I supposed to be running from?

It's John Cardinal.

Is Raymond Ojibwe?

His parents were Hungarian, I think.

And you said he attacked you?

Fireplace poker.

When I told him he couldn't live with his mother anymore.

But you never reported it.

He was nine.

I wanted to believe it was an accident.

Can you give us any more specifics

about Raymond?

You don't forget a kid like that.

Extremely bright.

Obsessed with death and religion,

anything to do with the afterlife.

At first, I encouraged his curiosity,

it was good to see a kid reading a book.

But then

he asked me if I'd ever seen the inside of a cat.

And he went into graphic detail,

how Leonardo da Vinci found god

inside corpses.

And the look in his eye.

Did you ever see him hurt an animal?

Catch him in the act? No. But,

around that time,

animals were going missing.

And after Raymond left-

it stopped.

Where did he go?

Florida, I heard.

But he'd aged out of the system,

so we didn't keep tabs.

Do you remember an Aaron Osborne?

He went to school with Raymond.

The kid he bashed with the shovel.

Yeah. What happened?

Aaron called his mother a biker slut.

She was associated with bikers?

Mhm.

For years.

They passed her around 'til there was nothing left.

Ray was 11 when he hit Aaron Osborne

with a shovel.

Then he found him again in Toronto,

20 years later.

Hell of a grudge.

Sensitive about his mom.

Maybe that's why he targeted the Northern Raiders.

Payback.

So, he's fascinated with death and immortality

and then he-

he finds Palo Mayombe.

It would give a kid like him a sense of control

over the chaos in his life.

He learns the basics in Sudbury,

and then he goes to Florida to learn more.

That makes sense.

There's a Palo Mayombe community there.

I'll start to make some calls.

A woman came to see me yesterday.

She assumed I knew John had been paying her to keep quiet

about what I'd done.

What is it you did?

I made a call

when I was manic

and I blew an officer's cover.

John never told you.

He risked his job for me.

And how did you feel when you learned this?

A man is dead because of me.

How do you think I feel?

Devastated.

Shocked.

Furious.

With yourself.

With my illness.

With John for risking everything to protect me.

If he'd been caught,

who would've been there for Kelly?

What did John say?

I haven't told him.

Why not?

He's heading a difficult investigation right now

and he's already had to step away once.

You feel like a burden.

Hey man, you got a second?

Yeah. That's about all I got.

What's up?

I called your contact at the DEA in Michigan.

Why?

I couldn't get a hold of you.

You okay?

Yeah. The ex got a job in Thunder Bay.

Thinks she can just take the kids.

Aw man, that sucks.

It is what it is.

Michigan didn't know anything about

Bedford posing as Ray Northwind.

Well I haven't had a chance to update them

since we last talked.

Lasalle's getting ready to make a move.

They didn't know we had a new player in town.

Now they're up to date now.

Said they'd call if they got any leads

on Bedford stateside.

Well, I appreciate that, Jerry.

But I gotta run.

Sure.

Leon.

You gotta get me outta here, man.

Leon, we're friends.

Mhm.

You're not like him.

Ray gave you a shot, Kevin.

You could've had anything you wanted.

You betrayed him.

Leon. No.

Wait.

Leon.

Leon!

Please Leon, wait!

Terri?

Detective Gonzalez from Miami is on line two.

Thanks for getting back to us.

I appreciate the call.

We've got a string of unsolveds

dating back to 2008.

Missing heads, hands, feet.

All removed while the victim was alive.

Our guy likes coloured shells,

sharpened sticks

and chalk drawings of arrows and moons.

Yeah, some twisted version of Palo Mayombe.

Freaked the hell out of the Cuban community here.

They call them 'El Brujo'.

The witch.

When was the last case?

It's been quiet since 2016.

That's when they found Osborne in Toronto.

Have you ever questioned uh,

a guy named Raymond Bedford?

I don't recognize the name.

But we got unknown DNA at one of the scenes.

If you catch this guy,

let me know.

We're working on that.

We spent eight years trying to nail him.

Say what you want,

he's got some kinda power on his side.

Thanks for all your help.

Buena suerte.

I've seen that before.

Hi.

Hey. I need your help with something.

You took a photo of a wooden eagle.

Rotting. Low angle.

You remember that?

Oh yes.

You okay?

Fine. I know the shot you mean.

Where'd you take it?

Um, I'm not sure exactly.

Somewhere off 64.

I got lost looking for the Lynx Creek headwaters.

Which side of 64?

Uh, is it a side road?

Dirt? Paved?

Anything you can recall will be helpful.

East I think.

South of 17.

Um, dirt road.

Uh, private property.

There were 'No Trespassing' signs.

The eagle was on a gatepost.

Was there anything else?

You see any cottages? Any vehicles?

Anything.

Nothing but trees.

Um, there was a dead birch,

black and silver at the side of the road.

Looks like it was hit by lightning.

I shot it. Do you remember?

Yeah. Yeah, I think I do.

That's just before the turn off.

Is this about the missing woman?

I have to go. Talk later?

Focus on what you need to do.

Thanks. Bye.

Bye.

We're running out of time.

We need to split up.

That's OPD jurisdiction.

Yeah. You get Commanda,

and cover this area.

I'll talk to Clegg,

see if he's available to go through here.

Terri.

Please Terri.

No.

No.

What did you do to her?

Leon gave her a little something

keep her calm on the drive over.

Ray.

Ray, please.

Don't do this.

She's got nothing to do with this.

She has everything to do with this.

Brother and sister.

Under a new moon.

What an incredible gift.

Ray.

If a bullet to her head didn't stop her on this side,

imagine what she could do for me

on the other.

Can I get you another?

No, I'm done.

Terri.

Terri.

Get it back.

- This exact conversation- - KEVIN: This is not. No!

So many times Kevin!

- I just want you to- - TERRI: Kevin!

You left me with them.

When have I ever left you?

Just let me die.

I wish that I could.

All you've got is a drawing of an eagle

from the girl's art therapy.

It's the best lead we have.

But you don't know that's where Leon's-

Ahh!

Shit!

What? Did you get stung?

Yeah. It's a wasp.

I'm allergic.

You need an epi-pen or something?

No, no, no, no. It's not that serious.

I swell up and I get a little dizzy.

You know what, uh,

if you check in the glove box,

there should some antihistamines in the first aid kit.

No, no kit.

Must be in the back.

You know what, I'm gonna have to pull over.

Hey, you mind checking the trunk?

Sure.

Here.

Yeah.

Ah that's great. Thank you.

You know it's probably a good idea if you drive.

Sure.

UGH!

Okay. Okay.

AH!

Almost!

Go.

Just go.

No.

Kevin.

Push up. Push up!

I can't.

Kevin. Push up.

I will do the rest.

Kevin. Help me once!

Please!

I'm sorry, Terri.

- We have to go. - Okay.

Now.

Here.

AH!

Leon.

Hang her up.

I know,

you want to see that moment

when I take control of them

in the afterlife.

There's only one way to make sure that they obey me.

I have to take them to the outer limit of their suffering.

And it's there

that I sever their ties

to this world.

The orishas,

they delivered them to me, Leon.

Gas up the boat.

We'll leave when I'm done.

Take the stash.

Please.

Please. Please, let...

Just let us go.

You try and try and try, Terri...

but some people...

they can't be saved.

Alan Clegg

approached me at the bar a couple nights ago,

said he'd turned some biker's girlfriend.

Needed a safe place to put her.

Said he called the shelter on MacIntyre

but they were full.

Then he asked about Pine Street.

You didn't tell him

that we just put Terri in there.

I didn't use any names.

Is that it?

There it is.

Dead tree.

Keep driving.

I know what it's like Alan.

You try to do what's right.

You risk your family.

And for what?

Nothing ever changes.

What's done is done.

Turn there.

No response from either Cardinal or Clegg.

Onboard tracking puts Clegg's cruiser

east of 64.

Close to the lake.

Looks like they parked.

You should have the coordinates.

Do you have them?

Yeah there's not much out there.

Lots of places to hide.

Okay, got it.

There used to be a private summer camp there.

Back up is on the way.

Yeah, we can't wait.

So Clegg was a mole.

It explains how Bedford knew

where Lasalle stashed his money.

And when to hit Wombat.

I knew something was up with Lasalle yesterday.

He's seen what Bedford does to his victims.

Try Cardinal again.

All right.

You've reached Detective John Cardinal,

Algonquin Bay Police Department-

Shit.

Raymond!

Okay, we're close.

We're really close.

There.

You don't have to do this, Alan.

I can't lose my kids.

John Cardinal.

Cree name, ain't it?

It's over.

There are more cops on the way.

You can't stop me, John.

Nobody can.

You're nothing special.

You're just another killer.

Your daughter-

Kelly.

What happens to her after you die?

Is she going to look after Catherine?

Just a matter of time

before the demons take over.

So you paid for some information.

Nothing spiritual in that.

Kill him.

Do it.

Geez. Alan.

You're gonna be okay.

You're gonna be okay.

Here, put this on it.

Put this on it.

The bikers are coming.

What?

The bikers are coming.

Jesus.

Keep pressure.

I'll stay here with him.

Alright buddy,

you're gonna be fine, okay.

Terri!

Help me!

Help!

Is anybody there?

Please.

Please help!

Kevin.

Kevin?

It's gonna be okay.

We're going to get you out of here.

Where's Terri?

He-he took her.

Get him on the road.

Get an ambulance to meet ya.

Yeah.

I never should've brought her.

We just need to get you out of here.

- Kevin. - Oh Kevin!

Wanna go on a little boat ride?

Hands on the table!

Don't move or I'll kill you!

Let her go!

That's one of your friends.

Cuff yourself to the motor.

ATTACH YOURSELF TO THE MOTOR!

Okay.

Okay.

Are you alright?

I need to get Kevin.

My partner's with him.

You stay here.

There, okay?!

Yeah.

Ah!

Don't move!

Evening, Mr. Lasalle.

What brings you way out here?

We saw the lights.

We were curious.

You're trespassing.

Private property.

Are we?

Get off your bikes!

Hand over your cell phones!

I need to go home.

I'll get a ride back to the office.

Can I use your phone?

Catherine Hi, you've reached Catherine.

Leave a message,

I'll get back to you when I can.

It's done.

I'm coming home.

I'm done, Cath.

I'm done.

_

We've got a jumper.

No you can't.

Don't.

Do you doubt that Catherine took her own life?

I believe I knew my wife.

We have an incident

I want you to take the lead.

He's not ready.

Two victims, one killer.

And one survivor.

We need to go to the police.

I'll figure something out.

You don't believe she did it.

That should be enough.

No, it's not!

This is what you are now.

A broken man with power.

Yeah.
