[Legend of Fuyao]

[Episode 65]

It's Fei Yan.

We just arrived in Qiongcang two hours ago.

But Illusion Hall has sent so many scouts already.

Fei Yan's intentions are not to be underestimated.

I'll visit Supreme Mentor first.

I'll go with you.

No, he's out to get you.

I can't let you walk right into his hands.

If I don't go with you, would Supreme Mentor spare you?

Wu Ji, don't you know me well enough?

If... you try to forfeit your life for mine

I'd never let you do it.

I hope that whatever happens, we can face it together.

Just this once.

I want you to do as I say.

Supreme Mentor may be stern

but he's a righteous man who cares about the world.

If he can find a way to resolve this crisis

he definitely won't hurt the innocent.

What if there's no other solution?

I'll come up with a way.

If...

I mean, if...

If that day does come...

I hope that you can kill me.

Once I'm dead, you'll be responsible

for protecting the five kingdoms.

Listen.

Tomorrow, when the Evening Star rises in the west...

I'll be back.

Say it again.

Say that you'll wait here for me.

I'll wait for you.

Wait for me.

It's been centuries since Illusion Hall and Changqing Hall interacted.

Lady Fei Yan, is there an important matter you'd like to discuss today?

The witch has entered Qiongcang.

Don't you think that's an important matter?

In my opinion, there isn't a moment to lose in capturing the witch.

It's best to make a move as soon as possible.

For years, to protect all living things

Changqing Hall has searched for the witch

but we never mentioned it to Illusion Hall.

Now that she has entered the realm of Qiongcang today...

I'm afraid that it's not for you to inquire about.

Indeed.

During the Battle of Qiongcang

Illusion Hall and Di Fei Tian worked hand in hand to take innocent lives.

Although you pulled back before it was too late

Qiongcang won't easily forget the sins you committed.

Elder, although what you said is reasonable

you mustn't forget that it was Illusion Hall that suggested

using the Leaf of Spiritual Elixir to desist the hellfire

snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat.

In terms of merit, Illusion Hall deserves credit for that.

You mustn't--

Birds of different feathers don't flock together.

That's how it usually is.

But this is a critical time

for the survival of the five kingdoms.

Shouldn't we put our past grudges aside

and place the lives of the people above all else?

From I know...

you've been searching for the witch all these years too.

Don't you harbor some other intention?

Illusion Hall can only maintain stability if Qiongcang remains safe.

That is my intention.

Back then, Illusion Hall strayed from the path

and nearly cost us our reputation.

All that I'm doing now is to make up for my predecessor's mistake.

All life is at risk.

It's time that Illusion Hall steps up and helps out a bit.

If that is so, then it couldn't be better.

But the life of the witch is a matter of great importance.

Changqing Hall has already made the appropriate arrangements.

Lady Fei Yan, you needn't worry about it.

Zhangsun Wu Ji is a disciple of Changqing Hall.

He even puts the five kingdoms at risk to spare the witch's life.

Is that the appropriate arrangement that Changqing Hall has made?

You've rejected Illusion Hall's inquiries into the matter repeatedly.

I can't help but think that you're defending your disciple

and purposely covering up for him.

The witch's destiny will affect all life.

I, Tianji, won't consider any personal feelings!

Then why does the prized disciple of Changqing Hall

spend all his time with the witch, never leaving her side?

Why would he defy the regulations of Qiongcang to cover the witch's tracks?

Zhangsun Wu Ji has known that witch for a long time.

He had many chances to get rid of that menace.

But not only is that witch still alive

but tiers of the spell have even been lifted with the aid of Changqing Hall.

Now, imminent disaster is at hand.

The calamity... will strike soon.

You're well aware of... these matters.

Why didn't Changqing Hall mention this to any of us?

My treacherous disciple has fallen for the witch's charms.

I've already ordered him to get rid of her.

I even used the punishment of Qiongcang on him.

Now, Wu Ji has brought the witch to Qiongcang.

Elders, please give him another chance and watch his next move.

How will he just change his mind when he has already refused to do it?

Aren't you worried that he may hide her again?

He is the chosen successor of Changqing Hall, after all.

He's also favored by the master of the hall.

Even if there's an intention to cover up his mistakes...

no one can say much about it.

Nonsense!

We at Changqing Hall have always conducted ourselves righteously!

After our Grand Mentor, Chang Qing Zi, passed down the hall

everything we've done has been for the sake of the five kingdoms.

Who are you to make such accusations so easily?

I'm afraid you've misunderstood me.

I didn't mean to offend you.

It's just that Zhangsun Wu Ji is already obsessed with the witch.

You and your disciple have always been very close.

I'm worried that someone may have used your affection to trick you.

If you give in to a moment's sympathy and spare your disobedient disciple

all of Qiongcang and the five kingdoms will suffer for it

wasting your lifetime of powers.

When the world is thrown into chaos

Changqing Hall will go down infamously.

This is a critical moment for the survival of the five kingdoms.

No one can defy Heaven's will.

Although he's my most highly-regarded disciple

he's going against Changqing Hall and the entire world

if he chooses to defend the witch!

I definitely won't condone it.

Hall Master, it's good to see your determination.

It's a blessing to the five kingdoms.

The elders of Qiongcang can set their minds at ease.

They probably don't know what you really wanted, Mentor.

Of course they don't.

What I want is for the witch to survive.

Yet they want her dead.

We're on two different paths.

Illusion Hall has waited

thousands of years to revive Di Fei Tian.

How could those pedantic scholars from Changqing Hall know my plan?

But if Changqing Hall doesn't assist us

wouldn't you have visited them for nothing?

Changqing Hall...

It's just an old, sumptuous hall that's too highly regarded.

I don't need their help to make a witch succumb to me.

However...

Zhangsun Wu Ji is in my way.

It's meddlesome to have him protecting the witch.

Mentor, are you trying to use Changqing Hall to get rid of him?

Zhangsun Wu Ji is so in love with that witch.

He's been protecting her all this time.

Of course, he wouldn't let her fall into my hands.

I made such a huge effort to make Tianji fulfill his promise.

Changqing Hall has a defiant disciple now.

They must punish him severely.

This way, someone else will take out the meddlesome Zhangsun Wu Ji for me.

With just a witch to tackle... I have my own methods.

You didn't keep your promise!

You said that if I helped you, you'd have a proper match with me!

Are you really just pestering me for a match?

You're really--

I've been too lenient to you!

Are you done?

I hope you won't be so willful the next time I see you.

That Fu Yao is the one you're looking for!

Don't appear before her again.

Don't blame me for not reminding you when you die in her hands!

Tai Yan?

Yes.

Tai Yan, bear this in mind.

The most meaningless thing in the world is love.

Yes.

Disciple of Changqing Hall, Zhangsun Wu Ji...

asks to see Supreme Mentor.

You've finally returned.

Yes, I've returned.

Where's that witch?

Fu Yao is...

She isn't a witch.

How long will you keep defending her?

Wu Ji, have you forgotten your identity and mission?

I wouldn't dare to forget.

But this concerns a person's life.

I'd like Supreme Mentor to give Fu Yao an opportunity.

Rebellious disciple!

Are you still defending that witch at such a time?

Wu Ji.

You've really let me down.

According to the regulations of Qiongcang

any disciple who disobeys his mentor is considered a rebel.

He should be executed!

Since you've forgotten who you are...

don't blame me for being ruthless.

I understand.

I'm willing to accept the punishment of Qiongcang's Phantasmagoria.

But according to the regulations of Qiongcang

the four realms were created from the unseen.

Whoever survives the punishment

whatever the identity, shall be received with great courtesy

and assisted by Changqing Hall.

Supreme Mentor, please...

Please bear that in mind.

How dare you bring up the regulations of Qiongcang?

Fine.

Fine!

You're indeed my good disciple!

Let me see if 10 years of training will get you through the Phantasmagoria!

Supreme Mentor...

I'm sorry.

The Evening Star has risen.

Tomorrow, when the Evening Star rises in the west

I'll be back.

Ingot, Wu Ji said he'd be back when the Evening Star rises.

But there's still no news of him.

Can you let me go to him?

Ingot, if anything happens to Wu Ji, I won't go on living.

I'm begging you.

Please? Lead me to him.

Ingot?

Supreme Mentor...

I shouldn't treat you like this.

But these are extreme times.

I can only stoop to such extreme measures.

Wu Ji, tell me.

Where is the witch?

Supreme Mentor...

In Qiongcang, we always say that we care about the world.

But the world can only be saved by taking the life of an innocent woman.

I'd like to ask you...

what use are all those years of training?

What's the use of Qiongcang?

I'm not going to debate this with you!

Tell me! Where did you hide that witch?

Supreme Mentor, Fu Yao isn't a witch.

She's righteous and upholds justice.

She cares about the world!

But she has to die because of a quintuple-color pebble!

It's so unfair!

Nothing in this world is completely fair!

But perhaps...

But perhaps her death isn't the only solution!

There are many other powers of the ancient firmament

recorded in the ancient books of Qiongcang!

I beseech Supreme Mentor to let me search for those powers!

We may be able to let Fu Yao live!

We can also find another way out for Qiongcang and all life on Earth!

Do you think I never thought of that?

But apart from using her life as a sacrifice

there's no way to save the five kingdoms!

I don't believe that.

I don't believe that...

I don't believe that!

I don't believe that!

Rebellious disciple!

You...

Have you really forgotten who you are?

From the moment I fell in love with her

I decided to let go of everything!

The prestige I once had...

the pride I asserted...

None of that matters!

I've already made a vow.

Even if I must sacrifice my life, I'll die defending her.

I'll protect her.

This lifetime...

and the next.

As long as she lives...

so shall I.

You'd even go against Changqing Hall for her!

Supreme Mentor...

I'll protect Fu Yao.

I'll keep her safe for life.

All my powers... came from Changqing Hall.

I'm deeply indebted to Mentor.

Never will I dare to forget that.

But today, for Fu Yao's sake...

I must defy Supreme Mentor.

I...

I know that I am not to be pardoned.

My powers...

Supreme Mentor, strip me of them.

You're forcing me to do this!

The Power of Confinement can wipe out vital and internal forces.

It hasn't been wielded by Changqing Hall for over 700 years.

Wu Ji!

I'll give you one last chance!

Where is the witch?

Will you say it or not?

Say it!

Have you fallen for me?

I like how cheerful you are.

I don't want life's hardships to rob you of your positivity.

This is my fault.

I failed to protect you.

I didn't shield you from the terror and bloodshed in life.

Lass, I want to give you the world.

I want to give you the five kingdoms.

I want you to become the most carefree woman in the world.

If you want to fly, I'll give you the sky.

If you want to run, I'll give you the fields.

Qiongcang?

Aren't we going to Changqing Hall?

Are you saying we'll see Wu Ji if we go there?

- Fu Yao! - Fu Yao!

Fu Yao!

What are all of you doing here?

This place is really hard to find.

Luckily, Ingot led us here.

You--

You all found out about it?

This is such a serious matter.

Why didn't you tell us?

Where is Wu Ji?

He only told me that he's meeting his Supreme Mentor.

But the time we agreed on has passed and he has yet to return.

I'm really worried about him.

We'll look for him together.

There should be a place in the Sacred Land of Qiongcang

where we can talk.

Whatever the case, we'll look for Wu Ji first.

Fu Yao, let's go.

No! It's too dangerous in the illusion realm of Qiongcang.

I can't drag you into this!

We're friends.

This is nothing.

It's exactly because we're friends that I can't let you suffer too.

If this is what is destined for Wu Ji and me...

I should face it with him.

- I'm in! - Seven--

You--

What are you doing here?

No...

Tai Yan! Tai Yan!

Stop! Stop it!

Stop it!

Stop!

This is Supreme Mentor's punishment for me.

You can't help me.

Not just that, you'll even get yourself killed.

It's not... not worth it.

You knew that Changqing Hall was out to capture you.

You knew they wouldn't let you off easily!

Why would you still choose to walk right into their hands?

They went all out to capture me, huh?

That's good.

Then, Fu Yao...

She can...

She can suffer much less.

Since... since I can't change her destiny

I'll bear more of her pain, for as long as I possibly can.

How much more are you going to sacrifice for her?

You've abandoned your kingdom.

Are you going to give up your life too?

Being with her...

Do I have to go to hell for it?

If so...

I'll go.

However capable you may be...

how can you fight all of Qiongcang?

I know that.

Of course I know that.

But if I want to fight for a chance

this is the only way to do it.

Are you going to...

Are you going to...

No...

You can't... you mustn't!

It's too dangerous! You mustn't!

We both trained at Qiongcang since we were children.

We're restrained by its powers.

Only by relieving myself of the powers can I...

- Can I seize the opportunity. - No!

You mustn't!

If it weren't for...

Supreme Mentor...

If he hadn't punished me like this...

I'm afraid...

I'm afraid it's...

It's...

It's hard to...

It's hard to fulfill my wish.

This is a dangerous method.

No one has succeeded for centuries.

This is the Peak of the Nine Heavens!

It's as good as seeking your own doom if you strip yourself of your powers now!

Do you really want to bet your life away?

Bet my life away?

To keep Fu Yao alive is to bet against the gods.

If I pull this off, I can spend my life with her.

If I should fail...

I can die with her.

Break...

Break what's established and start anew.

Give it my all till the last breath.

I, Zhangsun Wu Ji... will live this life...

without regrets.

Judging by the situation, Hall Master must really be furious.

He even used the Deicide Nails.

Zhangsun Wu Ji was almost the definite successor of Changqing Hall

but now, he has openly defied his mentor and gone against Qiongcang

for a witch.

Even if Changqing Hall wants to spare him

the other elders won't consent to it.

That's the Peak of the Nine Heavens.

Even someone with god-like powers can't escape death

when trapped in that perilous place by the Deicide Nails.

What's excruciating is the pain worse than death.

What is the Peak of the Nine Heavens?

The Peak of the Nine Heavens...

It's the Peak of Nothingness.

The Peak of the Nine Heavens is known as the Gods' Growl in Qiongcang.

Even a fallen god can't bear the pain it inflicts.

How can we get there?

You...

You can't get there.

The elite warriors of Qiongcang are stationed along the way.

Without Supreme Mentor's permission, you can't get in there alive.

You talk too much.

Are we really going up the mountain from here?

It seems to be the only way.

Stop right there!

As long as you leave the witch, I can spare the rest of you!

Fu Yao, get going.

Head to the Peak of Nothingness.

Leave them to us.

How can I leave you here?

- You-- - Go on.

We'll catch up soon.

Hurry up.

Trust us.

Thank you!

I'll be back soon!

This is what you were looking for.

I found it for you.

When you came barging into the entrance and got caught in a fight with the others

I snuck into the secret chamber in Changqing Hall

and finally found it.

It may be able to tell you the perfect solution you seek!

It won't work.

Grand Mentor Chang Qing Zi's most treasured relic...

can only be activated by disciples who descended from him.

But--

Are you all right?

His lineage...

A Changqing Hall disciple descended from him...

Changqing Hall?

Blood?

Blood!

- What? What is it? - Use my blood.

Use my blood on the mirror.

Drip my blood on the mirror.

It begins with me...

It originates from me...

It originates from me...

It ends with me.

What is that supposed to mean?

It...

"It begins with me."

"It originates from me."

Who knew that the perfect solution I sought was just a few words?

What do those words mean?

If there really is no other solution, we'll resort to the dumbest one!

Tai Yan! Tai Yan, don't do this!

Don't!

Listen! Listen to me!

Even... even if you manage to break the Deicide Nails today

you'll get others in trouble.

I won't... let you do that.

Do you understand?

You're worried about my life, her life, and everyone else's!

Why can't you think for yourself?

Why won't you worry about yourself?

I was never...

I was never a selfless person.

I love Fu Yao.

It's always for my selfish interests.

But I ended up... putting all of you in danger...

putting your lives at risk.

Strictly speaking...

Strictly speaking, I've done so for my selfish desires.

Affection...

Isn't it supposed to be selfish?

"It begins with me."

"It originates from me."

"It originates from me."

"It ends with me."

"It originates from me."

"It ends with me."

You're going to--

No! Don't do this!

If...

If it's meant to end this way...

If...

If destiny can't be changed...

Then I'll...

I'll die with her.

How is Wu Ji faring?

It's the freezing punishment of the Nine Heavens.

Most people would've begged for mercy after half a day.

Who knew that Senior would just bear with it?

Rebellious disciple.

Keep a close eye on him.

Report back to me if anything happens.

I understand.

What's important now is having the witch captured.

If she were to barge into Changqing Hall

how is that even appropriate?

Exactly.

At the moment, the spell is stirring.

If we don't vanquish the witch, I'm afraid it will get out of hand.

But the Mountain of Nothingness stretches over thousands of miles.

How are we to know where she is?

She must be heading towards the Peak of Nine Heavens.

She'll go looking for my treacherous disciple.

Since she's coming to us voluntarily...

she can't blame me for being ruthless.

The witch has appeared.

She must die.

What should we do?

Many more of them are coming.

Go save Fu Yao.

Leave them to me.

No! It's too dangerous to leave you here alone!

I'll be able to guard this bridge.

If I can't defeat them, I'll cut the bridge to hold them back!

Go now!

I'll stay behind with you.

Fu Yao will need you more than I do.

You've always protected me.

It's my turn to protect you.

Seven!

You must stay alive!

Go!
