[Legend of Fuyao]

[Episode 53]

Are you trying to make me angry?

You don't know how to do any of it!

How can you get married?

How can you be Zhan Bei Ye's wife?

Who said that I'm marrying him?

I've done all that I can.

I want to lead my own life.

It seems that I was wrong about you.

I thought that you were a daring, adventurous young lady

who wasn't afraid to overcome obstacles.

Now that would make you a good match for Zhan Bei Ye.

Who knew that you were so childish?

You just quit whenever you want.

You even cry all day long.

You're just like some spiteful woman!

Judging by your attitude alone, you're not good enough for Zhan Bei Ye.

Not to mention, you're even blind!

So what if I'm blind!

Do you think that sighted people like you see everything so clearly?

Listen up!

I lead my life far more positively than any of you sighted people!

Even if I can't see such trivial matters in front of my eyes

I can see your malicious and scheming thoughts very clearly!

I... When did I--

What's the use of learning needlework or painting?

What's the use of learning that?

I've traveled across all the five kingdoms!

I've never seen anyone conquer the world with such skills!

Zhan Bei Ye is King of Tiansha!

His duty is to keep his people safe!

Such useless books and skills won't be of any use to him!

Do you know what Zhan Bei Ye needs?

Do you?

Do you think those pretty girls brought up with textbook virtues

are good enough for him? Not at all!

What he needs is someone who can risk her life for him

and be mindful of general interests!

And I, this blind woman, happen to be the right one for him.

You make it sound so reasonable.

But if I hadn't dragged you here

you would have run from the palace by now!

You keep saying that you can do this and that for Zhan Bei Ye

but aren't you just bragging?

But you're actually scared!

You just want to run away!

I'm not scared, and I don't want to run away!

If there's even a glimmer of hope, I won't give up!

I won't!

But if my affection for him puts him in a difficult position

and upsets him...

then I'd rather leave him.

Everything I did for him...

it's just so he can become the man he wants to become.

I just don't get it.

You lost your eyesight because of him.

Yet now, you're running away from him.

Young lady, do you find suffering to be that fun...

or do you see it as a hobby?

I don't want to use that as a reason to make him marry me.

If he has no choice but to accept me out of guilt...

then everything I've done for him would be meaningless.

I don't want him to be so weary.

I don't want to hold him back either.

I just want to see him living happily.

I've never regretted anything.

If my blindness holds him back...

that would be too cruel to him!

I have my pride too.

He has his own feelings.

I want to do as my heart wishes...

and let him follow his own heart.

Do you mean that little rascal, Zhan Bei Ye, doesn't want to marry you?

The person he's in love with...

isn't me.

Fifth Brother!

Where did he learn this from?

I can't stand this.

I can't stand it.

I can't handle this.

I looked for you for so long.

Just so I could tell you

that the person I love...

the person I want to marry...

the person I have deep in my heart...

It's you.

But...

- But I-- - I have been such a fool.

It's only now that I just realize...

I can't go on without you.

It isn't because you risked your life for me

or because you braved hardships and arduous journeys for me.

It's because...

You planted a seed in my heart.

It has sprouted.

It has grown.

It has grown to be a part of me.

Without this seedling of love, I would've lost all hope.

You just have one option now.

Be with me...

for the rest of our lives.

Have you figured it out?

Xuanji Kingdom is the most closed off and mysterious of all the five kingdoms.

They always take great caution in their actions.

I studied this letter for days.

I'm able to understand almost two-thirds of it.

But I'll need to look into it further to get more details.

So...

is that why you sent Tie Cheng to look for Mister Fu?

He must know something about this.

Perhaps.

Greetings, Crown Prince.

Get up, speak.

Is there anything amiss in Xuanji Kingdom?

Trade and commerce in the five kingdoms has always been very stable.

But lately, some things have changed.

There's more and more available at the markets.

But food prices keep dropping.

Food being cheap sounds like a good thing.

But we all know that it isn't as simple as it seems.

I'm afraid there's a problem with the source.

There's an abundance of food but no rise in costs.

It isn't because of a rise in yields...

Are coins more sparse now?

Exactly.

Should this continue, it's bound to cause serious issues.

Were there any abnormal sightings by Purple Phoenix River?

It's rumored that the lava waterfall at Purple Phoenix River is about to...

run dry.

We mustn't take such a rumor seriously.

That waterfall wouldn't disappear unless the five kingdoms decline.

I think that... if there are abnormalities in Xuanji Kingdom

it must've been caused by people.

How is the Queen of Xuanji doing?

I received a letter from home a few days ago.

It said that the Queen is severely ill. Everyone is in a great panic.

Those who are after the throne each have an ax to grind.

As for the current situation, I'm not sure.

How many months has it been since you got this?

Frankly speaking, only a tenth of Xuanji Kingdom's people

are allowed to come and go freely.

Only two checkpoints, Yicheng and Shiwei, are open.

All letters must be examined by officers first.

So I haven't received any news for a long time.

All right, if anything goes wrong, report it to me immediately.

Yes.

It seems like Xuanji Kingdom will be in trouble soon.

The letter only mentioned that the queen is ill

and that people feel insecure.

It didn't mention the lava running dry.

That man is the informant I planted in Xuanji years ago.

His words are quite credible.

If what he said is true, this matter can't be that simple.

What is the connection between the lava and the coins?

All the coins in the five kingdoms are made in Xuanji Kingdom.

The main ingredient is the magma gold from Purple Phoenix River.

When the five kingdoms were first founded

Xuanji made a contract with the other kingdoms

saying that unless war breaks out and the five kingdoms decline

Xuanji's position in commerce wouldn't falter.

For centuries, carts and carts of coins have been delivered

to all the five kingdoms without fail.

Xuanji Kingdom is the lifeline of the five kingdoms.

Doesn't the Imperial City have that kind of authority?

It seems like I'll have to go to Xuanji Kingdom.

Do you know who might've sent this?

Jiang Feng said that he found this letter in my room.

So the letter was clearly meant for me.

You just said that everyone in Xuanji Kingdom feels insecure.

Then...

Would Fo Lian ask you for help too?

I'll have to take a look over there all the more then.

Oh.

Hey.

We'll go together.

Mentor.

It seems that the old man is asleep.

It's best we don't disturb him.

It's just that...

this bottle of good wine will have to go to waste.

It mustn't go to waste! It mustn't!

It won't go to waste.

Mentor, I've just succeeded the throne.

There's much to handle in the royal court, so I can't stay much longer.

I've come to bid you farewell.

Thank you for looking after Yan Lan Zhu for me.

Get lost.

It annoys me to see you.

- Get lost. - Mentor.

Mentor.

I understand your intentions.

You abducted me to provoke me into being more motivated.

You hoped that I'd insist on staying by Fifth Brother's side.

I know you just did it for our sake.

Who says?

He has never seen me as his mentor!

Why would I have his best interests at heart?

Mentor, I--

I, what?

Mentor!

Mentor, Fifth Brother has always kept you in mind.

He has always respected and looked up to you.

But you know what he's like, Mentor.

He's clumsy with words.

He can't say anything to cheer you up.

But it's all right, I'll come to chat with you from now on.

When you first told me that you were his mentor

I didn't mean to doubt you.

But I believed you soon after.

Because I knew that you were highly skilled in martial arts

and impervious to weapons.

But you suffered an injury on the back of your right ear

so you're particularly scared of being pinched in the ear, right?

I only knew of it because...

there's this really ugly hat at Fifth Brother's palace

that he keeps like it's some treasure.

I asked him about it once.

He said that you had worn it for years.

You wore it to cover the scar behind your right ear.

When he was training under you

he slipped and almost fell over an ice cliff.

You risked your life to save him.

You even got hurt because of it.

He also told me that you've never lost a fight.

You've never been defeated!

That's true.

But you got injured trying to save him.

So Mentor, Fifth Brother has always kept you in mind.

Don't tell anyone else about this.

If it was known to everyone, I'd be so embarrassed.

People will tease me to no end.

Listen, you're not to say another word.

If you dare to say another word

I'll throw that nasty lad over the ice cliff right now.

- Mentor, you-- - Mentor!

"Mentor, what?" Get lost.

I don't want to see either of you now.

Get lost!

Mentor!

Mentor!

Hold on!

Hold on!

I was enjoying the wine a bit too much so I forgot what I was supposed to do.

Nasty little scumbag.

Although I'm really not fond of you

you have succeeded the throne and become King of Tiansha, after all.

You'll get married and have children soon.

As your mentor, I can't just do nothing, can I?

I don't have a gift to offer.

But your wife is really adorable.

I'll offer you my skills.

It's my wedding gift to the two of you!

I raised you for so long...

I never benefitted from it.

Fifth Brother...

I can see you now.

Fifth Brother...

I can see again!

Really?

Yes.

Great!

Thank you, Mentor!

Hurry and scram!

You've returned!

Did Lei Dong hurt you?

No. Look, I'm totally fine.

You...

Your eyes...

You can see again?

It was Mentor who helped me.

I'm so happy.

I was worried that old man might hurt you.

Who knew that Zhan Bei Ye had such a remarkable mentor?

He never told us.

I didn't expect this either.

Mentor was quite strange in beginning.

But after spending some time with him, I realized he's really nice.

My Little Tail is back.

How lovely.

Fu Yao, why are you... dressed like this?

Do I look like Zong Yue in this outfit?

You do.

But you look so much nicer than he does.

Of course.

It will be easier for me to get around disguised as the Divine Physician

since I'll be accompanying Crown Prince Wu Ji on his journey.

But... where are you going?

There's a problem in Xuanji Kingdom.

We're going to take a look.

You're leaving now?

Fifth Brother just became King of Tiansha.

You've also just been conferred as Vassal King of Han.

Why do you have to leave right now?

We have to check out the issue in Xuanji Kingdom personally.

You two are...

It's said that the lava in Purple Phoenix River is drying up.

What?

It could be a groundless rumor.

But I have to look into it.

What would you like me to do?

Xuanji Kingdom is the financial lifeline of the five kingdoms.

If something really does go wrong...

I'm worried that some may use the chance to stir up trouble.

If the worst really can't be avoided

I'd like Tiansha Kingdom to help maintain the peace

and prevent battle and conflict.

All right.

Tiansha Kingdom will do so gladly.

However...

Why are you taking Fu Yao along?

Should anything go wrong in Xuanji

wouldn't you be putting her in danger?

That isn't up to me.

My opinion hardly matters.

Fu Yao... has made her own choice.

That fool Zhan Bei Ye only realized just how wonderful you are

after all this time.

Listen, you mustn't be too nice to him.

The more you obey him, the more he'll take you for granted.

If he dares to bully you, you must tell me immediately.

I'll beat him up for you.

We've been through so much together.

There's only one thing I know.

There's no way he'd let me down.

Don't worry.

I won't be able to accompany you this time.

You must be very careful, do you hear me?

We'll be fine.

We have to return to attend your wedding.

General Zhan is a great man.

You'll surely be happy with him.

Besides, living in the palace is surely better than traveling out there.

You finally have a home now.

Oh, right.

When we were in Taiyuan

you told me that the candied fruits in Tiansha are the best.

It was too hectic on the way here to get you any.

I bought you some.

Take care.

It's getting late.

You must be careful.

Take care.

She's getting closer.

She's getting closer and closer.

You're finally going there.

This is your destiny.

No one can change it.

[Twin Soaring Phoenix Market]

Who knew that there's a city out here?

Did you get any information?

There's really a problem with the lava waterfall at Purple Phoenix River.

At this rate, I'm afraid it will dry up very soon.

Will it affect the five kingdoms?

If the lava runs dry

there's bound to be a shortage of coins, so people will start stocking them.

Then, the five kingdoms will be unstable and unable to turn the tide.

Have you heard?

All the minters at Purple Phoenix River were arrested.

Really? Is that so?

- They were all arrested? - Exactly.

Listen.

Haven't you seen The Purple Cape making arrests everywhere?

What's The Purple Cape?

They're the guards who serve the royal family of Xuanji Kingdom.

So they must be making arrests

because the royal family wants to cover up the problem

at Purple Phoenix River, right?

The royal family of Xuanji knows about the problem

but they didn't inform the Imperial City.

They're trying to cover it up instead.

There must be some unspeakable reason behind it.

There's one other possibility.

Perhaps Queen of Xuanji is being kept in the dark.

She may have become a mere figurehead.

Show me that letter again.

That's why it's best not to talk about this matter.

It really is different.

The emblem of Xuanji Kingdom is the phoenix.

Anyone from Xuanji Kingdom can use the phoenix as the basic pattern

to design variations of the phoenix.

It's the same with the ice field eagle of Tiansha

and the dragon fish of Taiyuan.

So there are numerous phoenixes in Xuanji

that are similar, but entirely different.

Hey.

Hey!

What does the phoenix you're searching for look like?

Do you still remember it?

How'd you know that I'm looking for a phoenix symbol?

What else could it be?

Step aside!

- Step aside! - I don't remember.

Step aside!

All right, we should stop talking about it.

Let's just drink tea.

Let us through!

Step aside!

We should get going.

Step aside!

Stop right there!

Step aside!

Arrest him.

Madam, there's a mole on Zhu San's forehead.

This man doesn't have one.

It's better to arrest thousands by mistake than let the right one get away.

Yes!

Madam, what have we done wrong?

This has nothing to do with you.

Step aside.

How can you arrest people without evidence?

Do you have no regard for the law?

The Purple Cape is law itself.

Go ahead!

Stop it.

[Eldest Princess of Xuanji, Feng Jing Zhi]

Your Highness.

He's the one we're looking for.

How could a pale-faced scholar be the coin minter we're looking for?

How dare you go against my Purple Cape guards?

I was just exchanging a few blows with them.

I didn't mean any harm.

Exchanging a few blows?

Fine.

I'll exchange a few blows with you.

How dare you insult me so!

You must be sick of living!

Arrest him!

Let's go.

Until next time!

You must report to us if they come here.

- Yes. - Let's go.

Come here.

Take a look over there.

You must report to us if they come here.

Let's go.

Search carefully.

If my guess is right, she must be the commander of The Purple Cape

and eldest princess of Xuanji, Feng Jing Zhi.

That fight cost us our accommodation.

It's fine. What's there to worry about?

We have Crown Prince Wu Ji.

We'll use him to scare them off.

We don't know why that person wrote to ask Wu Ji to come to Xuanji.

If we expose his identity now, we won't even know how we'll die.

Go!

Check inside! Speed up with the search!

If nothing out of the unexpected happens

that princess will be Xuanji Kingdom's next queen.

I heard that she's very bossy.

It's best for us to be more cautious.

What? That was a woman?

Your Highness.

Have you found them?

We searched the entire city.

There's no sign of the people you wish to arrest.

Keep searching.

If you can't find them, I'll hold you responsible.

Yes.

It rains in Xuanji too?

Of course.

Apart from being in a special location

Xuanji isn't too different from the other kingdoms.

The four seasons, snow, rain, wind, and frost...

They're all natural phenomena of the gods.

How can they be altered by humans?

Will there be a thunderstorm soon?

Thank you.

This way, please.

Is there a wedding in this household?

Are you craving wine?

However cocky The Purple Cape may be...

they wouldn't intrude on a wedding, right?

We'll go ask for some wine.

Congratulations.

Congratulations.

Thank you.

Gentlemen, you are...

We're just passing by.

We just wish to rejoice in your joy.

Sure.

We didn't prepare much.

Just some blessings.

Sir, please don't mind it.

No, I can't accept this.

You were passing by and saw that we're having a wedding.

That's what fate is all about.

It's my son's wedding.

Anyone who visits Li Manor today is my honorable guest.

How can I accept your gift?

Have you found accommodation yet?

No.

Just stay at my house tonight.

I may not have much, but there are plenty of clean rooms.

- That's great. - Thank you.

- You're welcome. - Let's go.

Why did Crown Prince Wu Ji return to the room without eating much?

He's tired, so he went to bed early.

- Oh. - Let's drink.

Is there someone you miss?

No...

Stop thinking about Ya Lan Zhu.

Zhan Bei Ye will take great care of her.

How did you know?

"How did I know?"

Who doesn't know?

Even Ingot can tell.

No...

Ya Lan Zhu knew too.

Your Highness.

I have information on the matter you had me investigate.

There are 127 registered coin minters at Purple Phoenix River.

We raided and arrested 126 of them.

There's still one missing.

Who is it?

It's just a worker who performed miscellaneous chores.

She applied for leave due to personal affairs at home.

So she wasn't there when we raided the mint.

Useless scum.

The changes in Purple Phoenix River will have a huge impact.

It must not be made known to anyone.

Anyone who worked there and may know about it mustn't survive.

I understand.

Therefore...

I have already found where that worker lives.

Little young masters, you must have run out of wine?

I have plenty here!

Drink all you want.

Thank you.

Please join us.

You must have come from afar, huh?

We sure did.

It took quite some effort to get here.

There are only two checkpoints leading into Xuanji Kingdom.

When we arrived, The Purple Cape were everywhere.

Did something go wrong?

Nothing happened.

It's just that we received orders from superiors

saying that it's too hectic out there.

They want us to stay home.

Unless necessary, it's best not to leave Xuanji City.

How come I heard...

that there's a problem with Purple Phoenix River?

You mustn't say that carelessly.

It could cost you your life.

The kingdom is prosperous.

What could possibly go wrong?

You must have heard rumors.

Don't believe them. Let's drink.

Cheers.

It's getting late.

Young Masters, get some rest soon.

Sure, thank you for the wine.

Fu Yao, this is really one hell of a storm in Xuanji.

Is he asleep?

Shush.

He's tired every day, thinking about so many matters.

He has to protect us too so he must be exhausted.

He should get some good rest since the weather is so terrible.

Wu Ji!

Wu Ji! What's wrong, Wu Ji?

Fu Yao, why is he sweating so much?

What's wrong, Fu Yao?

What's wrong with him?

I gave you more time...

So why haven't you accomplished your mission?

This punishment is what you deserve.

There's nothing I can do to help you.

Once the girl with the quintuple-color pebble lifts the five-tier spell...

she will transform into a witch.

Di Fei Tian will be awakened because of her.

Then...

Darkness will shroud the five kingdoms.

You're very frail now.

You're helpless.

But you were born the successor of the Leaf of Spiritual Elixir.

For the sake of the five kingdoms...

Wu Ji, you don't have a way out of this.

If the witch isn't killed, the whole world will come to an end!

Wu Ji...

You have to kill her.

You must kill her!

Kill her.

Kill her!

His vital force is a mess.

At this rate, I don't know may happen.

I'll use my inner force to help him soothe his vital force.

No one and nothing is to interrupt me.

Or else, both of us will be in danger!

All right!

Go put out the lights.

Shut the doors tight and keep watch.

- Yes... - Bear my words in mind.

Be careful, Fu Yao.

No... I can't interrupt them now.

It's all right, Fu Yao.

It's The Purple Cape searching for someone.

They'll leave if they can't find anyone.

Is there anyone else in the family?

The Li family is an influential family.

It's the son's wedding today.

There should only be two more people in the manor.

We can't spare anyone.
