[Legend of Fuyao]

[Episode 34]

When it comes to sacred or evil power

one rises while the other falls.

Considering the strange sightings in all five kingdoms

this evil power is definitely unlike any other.

I'm afraid we'll need to join forces to tackle it.

Empress, the elixir pill for today has been concocted.

I don't feel too well today.

Just leave it there.

Empress, you've always been frail.

His Majesty said that you must take nourishment regularly.

Please don't make this difficult for me.

Perhaps this medication is so bitter that Mother refuses to take it?

Just leave it on the side first.

But...

I'll take responsibility for it.

Step out.

Wu Ji.

Your father means well.

I'll just take it.

Leave now.

From this day forth...

your life or death, everything about you

is no longer related to Tianquan.

If there's nothing else today, you're all dismissed now.

Your Highness!

You've been working hard for days, you must be tired.

Head back and get some rest.

I have a small request.

I wonder if Your Highness would do me the honor of obliging it?

The Imperial City is a sacred place.

I came here in such a hurry, I didn't get to take a look around.

Crown Prince Wu Ji, you know your way around.

Could you show me around?

I've already ordered that...

someone show you around anytime you want.

But--

I just wish for that someone... to be you.

Princess.

Please conduct yourself with respect.

Atrocious rebel! How dare you impersonate the princess of Xuanji!

Arrest her!

Your Highness!

What's wrong, Jian Xue?

The person Prince Yi called an imposter is Fu Yao!

You ganged up with Fo Lian to stage this act.

You were just waiting to set me up, weren't you?

Enough of this nonsense!

Hand over the Purple Phoenix Badge.

If you do, I'll keep your corpse intact!

You should check to see if your belt is fastened first.

Father!

This is all my fault.

I've been thoughtless and dawdled in bringing Fo Lian to the palace.

Fu Yao doesn't know my identity.

She would never pose as another out of vanity.

Father!

You're the sacred ruler of the five kingdoms.

Surely, you wouldn't wrongfully accuse an innocent commoner.

Father...

I've never asked anything of you.

Today, however...

Please show some mercy and let her off.

Should there be any punishment, I'll accept it alone!

I already set her free.

But whether she survives is up to her fate.

- Young Master. - Fu Yao is in trouble.

- All guards are to look for her. - Yes.

I've already told you all that I should.

Your Highness, if you assist me in pulling this off

and become the Crown Prince of Tianquan, as you wish...

Then it's only right that I marry you instead, Prince Yi.

Then... we have a deal.

Prince Yi, you've been a great help.

I'll keep this gratitude in mind.

I've done everything you asked of me.

Even that person you dislike, I've gotten rid of her for you.

Princess, shouldn't you do something for me in return?

She's highly skilled in martial arts.

Her skills are unique.

Prince Yi, it isn't like you haven't suffered at her hands.

You should know that with your abilities...

you couldn't possibly seize her.

If I hadn't prepared well in advance

by sending Qiao Ling to her side to tamper with her meals...

Isn't it hard to say if Your Highness would still be standing here now?

Fine!

Since you planned so well

you must be very confident that you'll win Wu Ji over, huh?

You--

Princess, don't get angry.

I just find it to be such a shame.

Wu Ji isn't willing to marry you, why bother showing him respect?

Not to mention that Wu Ji isn't the only prince in Tianquan Kingdom.

If... you marry me instead

I definitely won't let you down.

Your Highness, has it slipped your mind?

What did I promise you last night?

If you become the crown prince

I'll marry you without a second thought.

Must you be the crown princess consort?

Yes!

Among all of my sisters, I've always been the most intelligent and beautiful one.

The queen also favors me the most!

But I happen to be...

just a second princess.

Just because I was born a year after Feng Jing Zhi...

I have no chance of succeeding the throne as Queen of Xuanji!

I've never lost to anyone.

This is the only thing...

Whatever I do, however hard I try... that is the one thing I can't win.

What can I do?

Either...

I remain an unsung second princess of Xuanji.

Or...

I become the most respected woman in the five kingdoms.

Even the Queen of Xuanji will have to look up to me.

I...

I want to become Empress of Tianquan!

I agreed to be your ally because you told me...

that you'd become Crown Prince.

However much I may love Wu Ji

I can sacrifice him in order to become queen.

But you're... not Crown Prince yet.

So you can't hold me to what I said.

What if I seize the position of the crown prince?

If you manage to rob the crown prince of his position...

I will become your woman.

[Shangyang Palace]

Young Master!

Well? Is there any news?

Our men seized Fo Lian's maid, Qiao Ling

and after a harsh interrogation, she said that Prince Yi took Fu Yao.

What else did she say?

She said that she already poisoned Miss Fu Yao.

I'm afraid that she now--

Young Master! You mustn't!

I know you're worried about Miss Fu Yao

but Prince Yi is already against you.

If you barge into Prince Yi's manor

I'm afraid it will cause a conflict between two princes!

A conflict between princes?

I only put up with him at every turn because he's my sibling!

As if I don't know about Zhangsun Ping Rong's despicable acts!

If he dares to lay a finger on Fu Yao

forget his reputation...

I won't even show his life any mercy!

Although there are mountains full of gold and silver in Xuanji Kingdom

they don't produce jade.

I'm afraid you can't find a finer jade bangle than this in the five kingdoms.

Have this delivered to Princess Fo Lian's courier inn.

Yes!

What are you waiting for?

Your Highness, I heard that the crown prince is running around

the entire city looking for that fake Fo Lian.

He has caused quite a commotion.

It seems that the crown prince cares a lot about that impostor?

Good...

I definitely won't spare anyone that Wu Ji cares about.

But I had the Soul-locking Needle planted in you!

That's impossible.

You clearly had the Soul-locking Needle planted in you!

You were severely injured too.

This is impossible...

This can't be possible...

Impossible...

It's impossible...

[Manor of Prince Yi]

Step aside!

Crown Prince!

Without a decree, you can't trespass into Prince Yi's manor.

If you insist on coming in, this...

This is a violation of the imperial family's regulations.

Your Highness!

If you take one step closer

according to the regulations of Tianquan, they will block your path!

If you're hurt, I'll be killed for it.

I'll be killed if I let you in!

Your Highness!

I'm going to kill her!

Lass!

You're here...

I'm here.

Lass?

Lass!

Even killing you... wouldn't relieve the hatred in my heart.

But if you live...

I can't stand to hear you breathe, not even a moment longer!

Crown Prince!

You mustn't kill Prince Yi!

Get lost!

Young Master!

- Calm down! - Step aside!

Young Master!

The Emperor has verbally decreed...

- Prince Yi is summoned to the palace! - Calm down!

- Quickly! Hurry up! - Yes!

Young Master!

Calm down!

Father...

Father, save me...

Father, save me...

Wu Ji... Wu Ji wants to kill me.

Father!

If Wu Ji really did make a move

it would be your corpse getting carried in here.

Father!

Do you know what you lack?

You want to be the crown prince.

There's nothing bad about that.

However...

it just so happens that you're not smart enough.

Wu Ji went away to train in Qiongcang for 10 years.

You thought you stood a chance.

You went to such lengths to win the support of others.

But what happened in the end?

You were defeated by the fake Fo Lian.

Do you know what matters most to the imperial family?

Our reputation!

Should this matter be made known to the world

and the Imperial Court...

Eldest prince...

How will you explain yourself?

Father...

Surely, you have a way to heal me, right?

You must know a way to heal me...

Just make do with life and go on living.

You are my son, after all.

Father!

You must uphold justice for me!

You must stand up for me!

Father!

She should be fine for now.

Lass.

It's all right. I'm right here.

Lass!

Wu Ji.

Come with me.

How did she get wounded so badly?

Zhangsun Ping Rong once trained under Xing Hui of the Ten Saints.

He learned some stances but I never cared much for it.

Who knew that he had mastered the Xing Hui Sacred Fist?

I was too careless.

That martial arts stance inserts a deadly poison.

On top of that, Fu Yao is already poisoned by the spell.

With the poisons adding up, a normal person would've died.

Right now, the poison from the spell is eating away at the other poisons

but at the same time, it's getting stronger.

If the spell on her isn't lifted soon, I'm afraid...

What is it?

Tell me what you're afraid might happen!

I'm afraid...

She may not survive.

You must have a way to cure it.

You must have a way to cure it, don't you?

Young Master, His Majesty just left his meditation room.

He attended Imperial Court and made a decree.

You must go to the palace immediately.

I led my men to investigate it.

The culprit who attempted to assassinate Prince Yi

is the same person that impersonated Princess Fo Lian.

It's due to our oversight that such an incident occurred.

Your Majesty, please forgive us.

She impersonated the princess of Xuanji Kingdom

attempted to assassinate the offspring of the imperial Zhangsun family.

This person... must be killed.

Your Majesty, it's said

that the crown prince took that villainous woman away.

I'm afraid that it will mar the reputation of the imperial family.

I wonder how the crown prince is related to this matter.

What do you mean by that, Master Duan?

Are you implying that His Highness plotted with the villain

to assassinate his own elder brother?

General Lei, why are you so anxious?

All I said was that the crown prince took the woman away.

There are surely a few matters that need to be investigated.

Since Prince Yi is injured, the culprit must be heavily punished.

We mustn't let that woman seize the chance to escape.

Arrest that villainous woman first and execute her.

As for the rest, we'll discuss it later.

Your Majesty.

That person is currently in Crown Prince's Shangyang Palace.

What is it?

Are you afraid to go there?

Father.

Crown Prince.

The woman who impersonated Princess Fo Lian committed a grave crime.

I've been ordered to arrest her.

It's said... that you took her away, Your Highness.

Fu Yao is indeed at my palace.

But as for arresting her...

I ask that you reconsider it, Father.

I'd like to speak with Father in private.

Get up.

Thank you, Father.

As for Prince Yi's injury...

Father, you should know the reason.

There must be many different ways to resolve this.

But there's only one way to settle this once and for all.

It's to execute that woman.

Then, no one will ever know the truth.

To say the least, who would care about the truth?

I know that...

the imperial family of Tianquan must not be involved in any scandal.

I also know that Father must be deeply upset about Prince Yi's injury.

I know just how much commotion this caused.

We'll have to appease those who know.

Father, you can choose not to punish the true instigator

but you can't accuse an innocent woman for no reason.

Innocent?

She was never innocent.

A commoner has made Crown Prince of Tianquan Kingdom infatuated with her.

Is that not her fault?

Since the day you fell for her, she has sinned.

The more you try to plead for her, the more she has sinned.

Wu Ji...

I've taught you since you were a child that a monarch should have no weakness.

I taught you military tactics, strategies, but I overlooked...

that one thing called love.

So many emperors, kings, ministers, generals

warriors, and heroes stumbled because of love.

Forget it.

Today, I'll get rid of it for you.

[Shangyang Palace]

Hate me if you will, bear a grudge against me if you must.

Perhaps someday, you'll understand my good intentions.

This is also for the sake of centuries of Tianquan's foundation.

Father!

You mustn't!

It's already too late.

Stop right there!

If you step out that door...

you'll regret it.

Father...

Please forgive me.

Crown Prince, please head back.

Crown Prince, please head back!

I'm going to rescue her now.

Don't you dare hold me back.

Anyone that stands in my way is my enemy.

If thousands stand in my way, then thousands are my enemies!

Your Majesty!

Crown Prince--

Crown Prince, he...

His Highness stormed past the guards.

He's about to make it out of the palace.

[Shangyang Palace]

Crown Prince?

How is Fu Yao?

She's not going to make it! Take a look at her quickly!

What should we do, Your Highness?

There's no time to lose. Go!

We made such a scene today and now I'm leaving the city hastily.

My father definitely won't be lenient.

Inform me if there are any issues.

Yes, Young Master.

You must also keep an eye on Prince Yi and Fo Lian.

I'm worried they'll stir up trouble.

You'll have to take care of more matters once I'm gone.

Young Master, you don't need to worry about me.

It's just that you must take good care of yourself on this long journey.

Miss Fu Yao is born fortunate so she will take a turn for the better.

You should set out now.

I kept thinking that as long as I asked my father nicely

he'd surely spare Fu Yao.

Who knew...

You underestimated your father.

No. I thought too highly of myself.

I nearly got her killed.

Don't be too hard on yourself.

There are various rare poisons in Fu Yao's body.

They're already endangering her life.

The poison from Zhangsun Ping Rong's Xing Hui Love Lock is fierce.

That's why she's in a coma.

I hope that we'll be able to find River-drinking Grass in Nanrong

to cure Fu Yao of the Love Lock poison.

Don't worry.

You have me.
