[Legend of Fuyao]

[Episode 33]

Fei Yan never saves anyone without taking something in return.

If she passed on her medical skills to you

she must have taken much more from you in return.

What did you offer her?

40 years of my lifespan.

Don't bother trying to calculate it.

You can't anyway.

This has nothing to do with you.

There's nothing you can do.

Are you only staying alive...

to seek revenge?

You helped me tackle Qi Zhen to pacify Taiyuan

to prove yourself worthy of being a crown prince

and for the sake of our friendship.

Now that it has come to this...

You don't have to help me anymore.

Leave the rest to me.

Taking Qi Zhen's life and avenging my family

must be done my way.

You're wrong.

I helped you...

partly because I'm Crown Prince of Tianquan.

The other reason...

I did it for your sake.

Three quarters past 1 a.m.

In a few hours, your marriage with Princess Fo Lian will be official.

All these years, you've kept her on your mind publicly and privately.

The relationship finally has a happy ending.

Xuanji Kingdom is the richest of all the kingdoms

and produces all the gold and silver used across the five kingdoms.

Marrying Fo Lian is as good as marrying a mountain of gold.

You're teasing me too?

Do you mean to say...

that marrying Fo Lian is the best choice I could make?

As for her...

Is she the one you're looking for?

When I first met Fo Lian...

we were in Xuanji Palace.

She was so thin and small.

But her eyes were bright and shiny.

As if everything in the world could fit in them.

The beautiful, the ugly...

The good...

The bad...

Everything...

everything was in harmony in her eyes.

But there are some things that must be made clear from the start.

I can't muddle through it.

Whatever you want...

you can always get, by any means.

I've never seen you stumped.

Once you tie the knot tomorrow

you will secure your position as Crown Prince.

You'll win another round.

But what about Fu Yao?

What about that lass?

You've been pushing her into a fire pit.

Then you risk your life to save her.

But now you're marrying the princess of Xuanji Kingdom.

If Fu Yao finds out about this...

would you be helping her or hurting her?

Of course I won't hurt her!

It's just that I--

You're finally willing to see me.

Wu Ji has returned.

The world...

shall soon be mine and my son's.

You should understand what I mean.

Even if Wu Ji succeeds the throne...

I'm afraid we won't be accepted.

Is there really nothing we can do to change that?

It's exactly because Wu Ji has returned...

that I shouldn't see you.

He mustn't see us or hear that we are together.

Zhangsun Jia?

At the moment, Wu Ji has an even more vicious look in his eyes

than Zhangsun Jiong.

I'm being cautious for your sake.

Qing Yi, you mustn't let your son look down on you.

I've never thought of vying against Zhangsun Jiong for anything.

Everything is predestined.

We were in love first.

But then he had to...

The gods pulled a prank on us.

Sadly, we're just a pair of nobodies to the gods.

Go, quickly.

Who told you to be so nosy?

Who told you to wander off?

Now you've seen something you shouldn't have seen.

Empress Yuan and Prince De.

The sister-in-law and her husband's younger brother.

This is too...

Is this what people in Xuanji Kingdom normally wear?

Doesn't it look like I'm about to get married?

Is this real gold?

Of course.

There may not be much in Xuanji Kingdom but we have tons and tons of gold.

All the gold from the other kingdoms wouldn't even be a fraction of ours.

This is how my young mistress should look.

Don't be scared.

Just head in and do it, it will be fine.

I'm just thinking that I'll have to give this outfit back to Fo Lian.

There's so much gold.

Could I not give it back to her?

I'm just joking.

Listen up!

You're not to leave without a word again!

Do you hear me?

I'd like you to marry Xuanji's second princess, Fo Lian.

The Crown Princess Consort of Tianquan has to be Princess Fo Lian.

How long are you going to dawdle here?

You look better with black hair.

At least I didn't waste my efforts in saving you.

Take this back.

Don't thank me.

It's such an important day.

If you keep stalling, it will affect your marriage.

I can't bear the consequences.

Young Master!

Young--

Doctor.

Young Master, you can't keep stalling.

His Majesty and the Empress are looking for you.

You should head back right away.

Wu Ji, actually--

What is it?

Now that Fo Lian and I are really getting engaged

are you not happy about it?

If you aren't pleased, I won't attend.

Are you dissing me?

Fine, I won't say too much.

You'll realize some things sooner or later.

I'll get going.

When you discover that Fu Yao is Fo Lian...

That will be quite interesting.

His Majesty is worried for the people of the five kingdoms.

He's been praying for the people day and night for days

without getting any rest.

Prince Yi has been assisting with state affairs

and I've been managing on the Emperor's behalf.

We're all aware that it's the engagement ceremony

of Crown Prince Wu Ji and Princess Fo Lian.

But more importantly, the five kingdoms are in peril.

Now, we need to gather the forces of the kingdoms

to tide over this crisis.

The power of the Sacred Land of Qiongcang is already infused into the cauldron.

Without further ado

please submit the pieces of your Conferring Map of Domain.

I have the map of Tianquan.

I'll go first.

Tianquan submits its map for the blessings of its people!

The King of Tiansha submits the map of Tiansha.

May the five kingdoms stay peaceful and safe.

The King of Taiyuan submits the map of Taiyuan.

May the people across all the kingdoms be safe.

Qiongcang, Tianquan, Taiyuan, and Tiansha.

The powers of the four kingdoms have already been revealed.

We'll just have to wait for the princess of Xuanji

to submit the map of Xuanji Kingdom.

I heard that the map of Xuanji is like no other.

Could it be different from our Conferring Map of Domain?

Yes.

It is indeed so.

Their map is made of solidified lava from the Purple Phoenix River.

The five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.

The map of Xuanji not only represents fire

but also the power to combine all the elements together.

So the map of Xuanji is the key to unite the powers of the five kingdoms.

Indeed.

We'll have to rely on the map of Xuanji's force of cohesion

to bring our powers together.

Where is the princess of Xuanji?

Why are we yet to see her at such an important event?

The princess of Xuanji has arrived!

Fu--

Greetings, Prince De.

Princess.

I don't believe you know the others.

This is Taiyuan Kingdom's Consort of Honor.

This is Prince Huan of Tiansha.

I've long heard of the saintess of the five kingdoms.

You have a heart of gold.

Seeing you today, I see you're sophisticated and pretty indeed.

I've long heard of Prince Huan.

I heard that the brothers of the Zhan family are loving

and respectful of one another.

I'm quite envious of you.

Since Princess Fo Lian has arrived

please place the map of Xuanji in its rightful spot quickly.

It will secure the Imperial City

and peace throughout the kingdoms.

There are two matters I must attend to on this trip.

One is submitting the map of Xuanji, of course.

It's just that it's such an important matter that...

I wish to submit the map to His Majesty personally.

What is the other matter?

The King of Tiansha colluded with Taiyuan's Qi Zhen

and sent out troops to force King Xuanyuan off the throne.

He even blamed the matter on Prince Lie, Zhan Bei Ye.

Therefore, the other matter is that...

I'm here to make sure justice is served for Zhan Bei Ye's sake!

Prince Lie violated the law by leading an army without permission.

Fo Lian! Who instigated you to accuse the King of Tiansha?

Zhan Nan Cheng wishes to take over Mount Changhan

so he colluded with Qi Zhen to overthrow the royal Xuanyuan family.

It's just a pity that Qi Zhen was defeated.

Zhan Nan Cheng's scheme fell through

but he didn't forget to make Zhan Bei Ye his scapegoat.

Prince Huan...

Isn't that right?

You-- That's nonsense!

Your Highness, who knows where Princess Fo Lian heard such rumors?

This--

This is a day for all five kingdoms to gather together.

It concerns the welfare of all our people.

We won't discuss any personal issues or conflicts in your respective kingdoms.

We won't discuss it?

What's the point in establishing the Imperial City of Tianquan then?

Saying that could be considered treason and heresy.

The world is divided into Tianquan Kingdom and other vassal states.

Doesn't the Imperial City of Tianquan reign over all other kingdoms

so as to mediate conflict and provide the people

with a peaceful world to live in?

If the conflict within royal families

that leads to a deliberate waging of war is considered a personal issue

then what's an important state affair?

What kind of state affairs does the Imperial City handle then?

His Majesty once decreed...

The people are the priority. The nation is the priority.

The world will prosper and flourish if the people are the priority

and the monarchs are placed last.

If we allow the King of Tiansha to collude with rebels

to frame his own brother...

wouldn't we be ignoring the possibility of an impending war?

Doesn't that give free rein to fatuous rulers

who takes innocent lives and harm the people?

Does the Imperial City of Tianquan not care about such matters?

You're indeed the saintess of the five kingdoms.

You care about everyone.

The people of the five kingdoms are always on your mind.

Princess Fo Lian does have the gift of gab.

But there's a matter I don't understand.

You've never interacted with Prince Lie.

Why would you suddenly stand up for him?

Does Princess Fo Lian wish to give up on becoming

Crown Princess Consort of Tianquan

to become Prince Lie of Tiansha's princess consort instead?

Prince Huan.

The Imperial City of Tianquan will decide on the marital ties between the kingdoms.

As for Crown Prince Wu Ji's marriage, it is not something to joke about.

I didn't expose this matter for Prince Lie's sake.

Nor am I picking on anyone.

All I know is that wrongdoings should be exposed.

I ask the Imperial City to uphold justice.

- This matter-- - That is enough.

This...

This is velvet made from the Spiritual Tree.

No one but me could have the honor

to wear an outfit made with it.

But it just so happens that tonight...

I lent Fo Lian a sleeping gown made from the Spiritual Tree's velvet.

Mediating conflicts between kingdoms is indeed an important matter.

But uniting the powers of the five kingdoms

is a matter of life and death.

Fo Lian, regardless of any injustice you wish to address for someone's sake

you should submit the map of Xuanji to combine the five forces first.

We'll discuss other matters later.

I wish to submit the map of Xuanji to His Majesty personally.

Oh?

Your Highness, you have a distinguished visitor.

I won't see anyone.

Not even me?

They both regard the people of the five kingdoms as their flesh and blood.

What's the difference between the Emperor and Empress?

Princess Fo Lian.

You keep making excuses and acting secretive.

Could it be that you don't have the map of Xuanji with you?

I'll submit the map of Xuanji now.

The map of Xuanji has the power to combine the five powers.

By right, the five powers should come together as one now.

But why are they still separate?

Could this map of Xuanji be a counterfeit?

Or...

Are you also just pretending to be Princess Fo Lian?

Empress, I have a matter to report to you.

Princess of Xuanji Kingdom, Fo Lian, has arrived!

Princess of Xuanji Kingdom, Fo Lian, has come with the map of Xuanji

to be submitted to the Imperial City.

May the world be at peace.

May all seasons be blessed with harvest.

Jing Fan.

Jing Fan, have you recovered?

When did you enter the city?

Why didn't you inform me?

You are...

Judging by your outfit and makeup, are you from Xuanji Kingdom too?

Don't you recognize me?

We've never met.

How could I recognize you?

How strange.

There are two princesses of Xuanji Kingdom.

Princess Fo Lian is well known to all.

But there's an impostor now...

This is really unexpected.

- She is the impostor! - You--

Her Highness set up a pop-up clinic outside the city

to treat the refugees.

Due to her heart of gold, her visit to the city was delayed.

She just wanted to make it in time for the ceremony

but who knew that there would actually be an impostor?

Is that right?

Indeed, I'm not Princess Fo Lian.

A few days ago, outside the city, I ran into Princess Fo Lian.

She was treating refugees who had contracted the disease.

She looked like quite the saintess.

But she later fell ill.

She said that she had contracted the plague.

When she was lying in bed

she insisted on handing the Purple Phoenix Badge

and the map of Xuanji to me.

She told me to hand it to the Emperor of Tianquan.

Seeing how ill she was, I agreed to help her.

Young lady, you must been mistaken.

I never caught the plague.

- You-- - It's impossible.

As everyone knows

we have the Phoenix Elixir Pill in Xuanji Kingdom.

All descendants of royal lineage take it at birth.

Once we take the pill, no illness can affect us.

I'm the princess of Xuanji Kingdom.

How could I possibly contract a plague?

Exactly!

I've long heard that your family's elixir pill is miraculous.

If she truly is the princess of Xuanji

surely, she wouldn't be affected by a mere plague.

Come over here!

When I went to Qinglan Hall yesterday, you escorted me there, didn't you?

- I-- - You have to be my witness!

She's just a maid!

You're trying to impersonate me.

- Why pick on her? - You--

Yesterday, Prince Yi came to take me to the palace.

I went to meet Empress Yuan at Qinglan Hall.

Empress Yuan even kept me there for the night.

What part of that is made up?

Prince Yi and Empress Yuan, you can vouch for me!

I caught a cold yesterday.

I never left my quarters.

Let alone bring anyone into the palace.

When did you come to Qinglan Hall yesterday?

I see.

You're scared since I saw you last night.

So now you're--

- Guards! - Present!

Arrest this villainous woman!

Kill her as an apology to Princess Fo Lian.

- Yes! - His Majesty has made a decree!

His Majesty has made a decree.

He summons the princess of Xuanji.

His Majesty asks to see her.

Your Majesty.

Get up.

Any ordinary person who kneels before me in this hall...

Regardless of whether or not they'd suffered an injustice

they would be quite perplexed by now.

I'm only here upon someone's request

to help the five kingdoms with a pressing issue.

I'm here to stand up for Prince Lie with good reason.

May I ask, what do I have to fear?

Why should I be perplexed?

No wonder the two of you kicked up quite a storm in Taiyuan.

Taiyuan?

You must've outshined Fo Lian in some ways.

That's why he fell in love with you.

But young lady, you're not from Xuanji Kingdom's royal family.

How could you be good enough for the crown prince of Tianquan?

The crown prince?

He might be Xuanyuan Min or Yuan Zhao Xu to you

or perhaps he used some other name.

But here in Tianquan, he's the crown prince, the heir apparent.

He only has one name.

Zhangsun Wu Ji.

Zhangsun Wu Ji?

Whether or not I'm a liar, that's hard to say.

But as for you, you're definitely an impostor.

If you want to live, keep your lips sealed.

Who exactly are you? Liar!

You'll know when I take off my mask.

I didn't tell you... I'm the crown prince of Tianquan.

You're the crown prince?

You--

I'm his aide.

I'm Yuan Zhao Xu.

Everything I did in Taiyuan

was to carry out orders for the crown prince.

But he--

You must want to know why he lied to you.

Or should I say, why he refused to stand before you

as who he really is.

Isn't that right?

The crown prince has arrived!

Mother.

Wu Ji, you've arrived.

Crown Prince Wu Ji.

It's been a long time.

Princess.

I'm Fo Lian of Xuanji Kingdom.

I'm your--

The map of Xuanji plays a crucial role in the five kingdoms.

I thank you on behalf of the Imperial City of Tianquan

for bringing the map of Xuanji here to save the Feather Tree from withering.

I didn't just come here for the five kingdoms' sake.

It's more for the sake of...

Your Highness.

I've also waited long for you.

He has been pampered since he was a child.

He sent out gift after gift.

He can't even keep track of how many gifts he has sent.

A young man knows no troubles.

That's why he has flings here and there.

But he must've hurt your feelings.

You are indeed different from all the other young ladies.

He truly fell in love with you.

But you have to understand that

as the crown prince, he has no say in every step he takes.

The crown prince's marriage affects the nation.

It impacts all the people.

So he chose Fo Lian.

He made this decision in Xuanji, when he was 16 years old.

As all members of the imperial family are present today

why don't we make the marital bond between Tianquan and Xuanji official

on this auspicious day by making a decree to announce it to the world?

Wu Ji, you got here late.

You just missed a good show.

Someone actually impersonated Saintess Fo Lian and deceived us.

Saintess Fo Lian of Xuanji is known to everyone in the world.

It can't be helped that some swindlers would want to impersonate her.

Such a buffoon should be punished.

You've chosen Fo Lian.

Whether or not he truly likes Fo Lian...

Or should I say how much he actually likes Fo Lian...

Does that really matter?

He's always been taught

that the nation's interests should be priority when it comes to his marriage.

The benefits should come first.

Between benefits and love, he'd choose benefits.

Plus, it's a choice he can make without hesitating.

Crown Prince Wu Ji...

and Princess Fo Lian...

They're a match made in Heaven.

You impersonated Fo Lian to play up to the crown prince.

How should you be punished for it?

I never once thought of...

impersonating anyone... to play up to someone.

Even if I'm standing here in this outfit...

I didn't do it for the Crown Prince of Tianquan.

All this time...

you've put on mask after mask.

You deceived me for so long.

The blood you spilled...

The pain you suffered...

Was it all just a pretense?

I was too foolish.

I trusted someone I shouldn't have trusted.

Your only fault is meeting someone you shouldn't have met.

You misplaced your hope in him.

Why are you telling me all this?

The so-called nation and sovereignty, glory and humiliation, life and death...

even you and I...

We're just like ingredients blending in that cauldron.

In the burning flames, with great effort and time

they're concocted into a small pill.

What is it?

An outcome.

All that everyone is waiting for...

is an outcome.

The empress should have her medication.

Yes.

It seems that the withering of the Feather Tree has been curbed.

Could there be other changes to it?

When it comes to sacred or evil power

one rises while the other falls.

Considering the strange sightings in all five kingdoms

this evil power is definitely unlike any other.

I'm afraid we'll need to join forces to tackle it.

Needless to say, you must have guessed

that this crisis is related to the thing that was sealed

after the Battle of Qiongcang.

As long as that thing is yet to be destroyed

the Feather Tree can't truly be safe.

Empress, the elixir pill for today has been concocted.

I don't feel too well today.

Just leave it there.

Empress, you've always been frail.

His Majesty said that you must take nourishment regularly.

Please don't make this difficult for me.
