♪ They gotta make a show that
they think is gonna sell ♪

♪ If they ever wanna get
out of Cartoon Hell ♪

- Ah, it's just me again.

They're really,

really just keeping Caldwell
in a state of missing.

Boy, I hope he comes back.

It's like, I dunno, when I was alive,

I used to be able to sit in silence,

but for some reason I just
feel compelled to talk

it's like I don't have an
internal monologue in hell.

(approaching screaming)

- [Caldwell] Nathan you
mind if I get right in?

- [Nathan] Oh, please.

God, I just missed watching you draw man.

I gotta say it's a lot of pressure

drawing without ya.

- [Caldwell] So, I have two ideas here.

- [Nathan] Okay.

- [Caldwell] The first angle
I had was a cute puppy,

that is also capable of
transcontinental nuclear strikes.

- [Nathan] Okay.

The second idea I had was

a room full of dads who are just fed up.

(Nathan laughing)
What do we think?

- [Nathan] Well I think the puppy,

the nuclear power of a
puppy, I think is more,

that's just more powerful,

- Okay.
- when I think about it.

- When I think of a room full of dads

who are fed up,
- Yeah.

- [Nathan] there's
definitely energy there,

there's frustration.
- Yeah.

- [Nathan] But I think specifically,

it's the lack of power that they have.

- True.
- That really makes

them so fed up.

- [Caldwell] But this is true, like a dog,

a cute pup that also is
capable of, you know,

international ballistic strikes,

is much more threatening
and much more powerful

because no one's gonna stop it.

- No one's gonna want to,

it's like, "Aw he doesn't
know what he's doing."

- (laughs) "Who gave him those codes?"

- [Nathan] "He just wiped
out all of the west coast,

"but aw look at it, he's,

"oh he's doing a drool."

- [Caldwell] Maybe there's
like a bone. (chuckles)

Hold on, I'll put a bone in his mouth.

And there's like a launch
button on the bone.

And he doesn't know what he's doing!

- [Nathan] Oh, dang!
'Cause you wanna see him

do a good chomp on that bone.

- [Caldwell] And that's the
thing, no one wants to stop him

'cause they're like "He's
having a good time".

- [Nathan] Is it like, is a red bone?

(Caldwell laughing)
Instead of a red phone?

- [Caldwell] Yes.

Oh Nathan, the magic is back.

but like the true evil
is whoever made this.

Whoever decided that a dog

the innocence of a dog?

Or to the horror that is
mans own cruelty, I ask ye?

- Wow.

- [Nathan] I love these
demonic quandries you give us

when you get drunk, Managar.

- [Caldwell] Hey Julia,
what are you thinking

about this pup?

I wanna make it threatening
but also adorable.

And I feel like that's your
wheelhouse a little bit.

- [Julia] Yeah, well, I think

if you really play up the adorableness

it really draws people in, you know,

it'd give it kind of that like,

"Oh, it's just a gentle pup."

So I'm thinking like, maybe
cute up that pup a little bit.

- [Nathan] Cute up the pup!

- [Julia] And also, you know what's

undeniably cute on a dog?

A little bow tie.

- [Caldwell] Oh, yeah just some clothes.

- Yes.
- Just some little,

some little fancy dog clothes.

- And, little do people know is that

that bow tie is because he's like

kind of a secret agent,
kind of deal going on.

You know he's just filled with weapons,

he is a weaponized pup.

- (laughs) Absolutely, this a rogue agent.

- Yeah.
- So by saying that he is,

that they're an agent,

you're also implying
that they have agencies.

So are you saying that this dog is

fully aware of what they're doing?

- Oh yeah.
- Oh no.

- [Nathan] He has agency but
he also works for an agency.

- Exactly.
- Yeah.

- [Caldwell] So this dog is just fed up.

This dog is going to create a new world.

- Yeah.
- I do think that maybe

it is like half corgi,

so it's just got like
- Okay.

- [Nathan] It's a mutt for sure.

- [Julia] He's real low to the ground,

he can really sneak under some knees.

- [Managar] Yes, radar can't detect him.

(Caldwell laughing)

- [Nathan] Very hard to knock over.

- [Caldwell] Oh this dog
is great for wet work,

but then watch out when he
tries to shake himself off.

- [Julia] Hey what's this pups code name?

- [Caldwell] That's
what I was about to ask.

It's gotta have one

- [Julia] Oh yeah.

- [Nathan] The obvious one
would be K9, sure, right?

- [Julia] Yeah but you
don't wanna give it away,

- Right.
- From the get go.

So maybe you wanna go
something cat, cat adjacent?

- (Caldwell laughs) What?

- [Julia] Make people think
it's a different thing

It 3D printed it in a bathroom,

and now, it's removed it.

- [Nathan] Cal, I dunno how I'm gonna draw

anything more powerful than this.

- [Caldwell] Well, I
mean, like this is kind of

I'm playing on the fact
that a dog is so cute

and it's more about kind of
exploiting it's cuteness.

I think you could just draw
something just straight up ugly.

off pretty strong here

and again this prompt it's
just for some powerful entities

- [Nathan] So, I was thinking of stuff

that I remember being powerful,

having power over me,

when I was alive

and it's gotta be technology.

- [Caldwell] Damn, makes you think though.

- [Nathan] Nothing like
a real edgy take on

it's technology that has
gotten out of control,

more powerful than us.

We can't think without our dang devices.

- [Caldwell] Computers what if they was

our best friends, innit?

- [Nathan] So I am sort
of drawing a smart device.

- [Julia] Is it just filled
with flashing images?

- [Nathan] Yeah, I think
there's just sort of a

constant sort of information
overload happening here.

So yeah, I think you can see
there's some images in here.

this ones like,

"Ooh a politician said
a thing we didn't like."

- [Caldwell] Uh-oh! Nathan
you're boiling me over

with this commentary!

I'm flustered!

- [Nathan] And "Uh-oh, this TV personality

"said something that was ill advised."

- Uh-oh, oops.

Oh, double oops, Nathan, this
is bad news, this screen.

Why do we allow these into our homes?

Maybe can I make one suggestion though,

it also has a big arm
and it can jack you off.

(Managar laughing)

- [Nathan] Caldwell?

- [Managar] Caldwell, thank

why you're down here in the first place.

- [Nathan] Cal has to do that.

I did think it be a thick neck.

understand what you're going for

but it's a little
nebulous and by giving it

a big giant thick neck, it
just feels more imposing,

and I think it's more
identifiable as a threat.

- [Nathan] I do think
just sort of a muscle guy.

- [Caldwell] So this is the Guy Phone?

- [Nathan] This is the Guy Phone.

And I think that's the issue here

is it's too powerful,
and it also has just a,

an unamenable sway held over you now,

because it can fulfill
every wish you need.

this ancient sword.

for nefarious purposes.

- [Nathan] Because like, here's the thing,

That's one of the big
problems with society.

is you come home from a long day of work,

bursts through the wall,

and they're holding this
massive sword, and you're like,

"Wait, I was expecting
a gu--(spluttering)"

And then you're stabbed,

and then that's how the uprising begins.

Because they have so much power over us.

Julia, what are you thinking
about this cursed golem?

- [Julia] Pretty good,
I'm just wondering how

he ambulates, a little bit.

I don't know if he's
carrying himself around,

you know, 'cause this
stuff's gotta get around.

It's gotta be threatening.

It's not threatening if it's not mobile.

- [Nathan] Ah, 'cause it is a mobile,

it's a mobile device.

Okay well I'm gonna keep doing that thing

where I keep shrinking it to add bits.

- [Caldwell] (laughing)
That's always the most

terrifying part of the episode.

And it's just like, "Oh
no, I thought he was done.

"He shrank it again. Oh god."

- [Nathan] "He shrank it
again, there's more bits."

- [Caldwell] "He made the sword bigger."

It's a full on glaive now.

- [Nathan] It's a big sword for a big boy.

- Hey isn't it kind of ironic,
that as soon as the phones

became wireless, it was
us who became attached.

- [Caldwell] Damn it
makes you think though!

- Oh, Managar.
- Yeah.

- [Nathan] Managar, you have
not stopped drinking, huh?

- [Managar] I'm just drinking
whiskey and whispering things

into ants on Facebook.

- [Nathan] So, it looks like these guys

are sorta squaring off
against each other right now.

- [Caldwell] Yeah, maybe they're
battling for most powerful.

- [Nathan] What's the one thing

that could survive a nuclear strike?

- [Caldwell] Oh, cockroach body.

- [Nathan] A cockroach bod.

- [Julia] Oh, I thought
you were setting up for

a mother-in-law joke.

You know, whatever, it's fine.

- [Managar] (laughing) Ah,

- [Julia] Yeah, yeah, go ahead.

- Julia loves the classics.

- [Caldwell] Nathan I
have one question for you.

sword is positioned,

it does look like it's bisecting them,

pieces brought together,

through unnatural means.

is always good to have
on like a powerful thing,

just sort of like an unnatural core?

a lot of tubes on there,

Because the tubes indicate that like,

it's not at its full power yet.

- [Caldwell] No, it's unclear if it is

a product of magic or science, or perhaps

some unholy union of both.

- Its probably both.
- Yeah.

- [Nathan] It's probably
like the old magic,

a.k.a. the true science.

- [Caldwell] Absolutely.

I just wanted to point out
that you have drawn a cocktar.

- [Nathan] Uh, yeah, do not steal.

This is very original,
what I have come up with.

- [Caldwell] What was once a guy-phone,

through the power of the old magic,

has become Cocktar the Unstoppable.

- [Managar] The real question is,

is that a really big cockroach?

Or a teeny tiny phone?

- [Caldwell] Yeah I guess
is it to scale with this dog

because that means
about the size of a guy.

That's more of just a normal tablet.

- Oh, it definitely can shrink

and grow as it pleases.

- Oh, I see.

What's this hand doing though?

- [Nathan] Well I think,
it's got the sword,

but it needs some sort
of like power artifact.

- Like some sort of,

like a large, like a glove, like a thing

you wear on your--
- Oh, you're talking about

the beloved pop culture item of power,

the eternity mitten.

- [Nathan] The eternity mitten.

With the eternity pebbles in there.

- [Caldwell] There was a box of cereal

at the beginning of the universe.

And these are the only
pebbles that are left.

is mine didn't make me think though,

and yours kinda makes me think though.

when you look at mine.

I've ever seen in my life.

- Yeah, the rest of the body is garbage,

- [Caldwell] Is it a stained glass window?

- [Julia] You know, I'm
thinking about the time

where I was back on earth,

and I was thinking about the things

that were really powerful
when I was alive.

- [Nathan] Yeah, it's a propaganda poster.

So they all had messages that were like,

very personal to you.

Like, "You're able to do this thing",

but back when I was on earth

all the power was in the dudes, right?

Like you thought you had
some sort of freedom or say,

or will to complain, but
it always went to the dude,

and the dude didn't care.

So I'm drawing a poster
because these motivational,

propaganda posters as you will,

always had to appeal to the dudes,

because the dudes had all the power.

So it's just powerful handsome men,

that is also not threatening,

he's to appeal to all the guys.

They look at him and they're like,

"Yeah, you know what,
I can do that thing."

- Uh, Julia, I, can I give
you money to buy war bonds?

I really wanna buy war
bonds all of a sudden.

- Uh, you know what, you can.

- [Managar] I don't even care which war.

Just here, take my money.

- [Caldwell] Oh wait, hold hang on.

- [Nathan] Okay, so we're getting--

- [Caldwell] It's the signature swoop.

- [Julia] Yeah, well, the real power

of the propaganda posters, right,

is that they're winning
the war of information.

- Yeah.
- Right.

- [Julia] Whether it's true or not.

So what we need

- A big mouth.
- (Nathan chuckles)

- Is that we need a mouth--

- [Julia] Yeah, to say
all of this information.

- [Caldwell] Sort of a large toothy mouth.

- [Nathan] You know the thing that I like

about propaganda posters?

- [Julia And Caldwell] What?

- [Nathan] Makes you not think.

- [Nathan] Exactly.

- [Julia] You see that
trusty man on the front,

and you're like that man knows what's up,

I'm gonna trust him.

- [Caldwell] Yeah I like

He'll feed you the information you need.

kind of like an angler fish

but there's lots of different
kinds of information

that you can get.

The word of mouth, you know,

there's like the loud information,

and that doesn't appeal to everyone,

so maybe you need like, the whisper mouth.

- [Caldwell And Nathan] Ooh.

- [Julia] You know like the whispers,

like "My friend says..."

- Yeah.
- And, you know,

you always trust your friends' friend.

- [Caldwell] The grapevine.

more than you trust scientists

or people who know what
they're talking about.

- [Caldwell] That's true.

- [Julia] Because you trust your friends.

- [Caldwell] So, Poster Boy

is just all about getting the word out

and spreading false truths.

- [Nathan] All of the stuff I was saying,

about technology, it's sorta this.

- [Julia] It's sorta this.

You don't need technology to--

- to speak to your friends.

- [Nathan] it's really about the people.

- [Managar] Julia's proving
that misinformation and stress

and systemic terror was an
analog invention all along.

- [Caldwell] Yeah, Nathan, yours

is it like taking in the information,

like what would be the purpose here?

- [Nathan] To make sure that

whoever the target of the information is,

has received it.

- [Julia] It's kind of a--

- [Julia] the Information
carries in the shadows.

- [Nathan] A shadow tendril.

- [Caldwell] Yeah.

it's just a curtain of information.

- [Nathan] Is it gloopy though?

- [Julia] Oh yeah. Definitely.
