a leader will come to you all.

So, Sarah, you really wowed us
in your solo challenge.

after the first elimination?

the portrait that you got?

I think it has a lot of great
color to it and good shapes.

I'm excited to execute it.

will compete in tomorrow's
solo
challenge, which ain't easy.

before we get started,

Alright. Let's sketch.

Being Muslim plays
a very big part of my life.

You know, for me, it's easier
to just put myself out there.

I'm a very bold personality.

I feel like there's
a lot of women,

they may be holding themselves
back

because they feel
self-conscious

about being
South Asian,

they're Indian, Pakistani
or Bengali or they're Muslim.

I want those girls to see
someone familiar.

Shall we do the landscape,
the top?

SARAH: The portrait is
Dora Maar, by Picasso,

and I have a little bit of
a secret strategy

that I think the judges
are really gonna like.

We're so blessed to have
this gorgeous backdrop

of the actual mountain canyon

so I'm thinking of using pampas
in the red

to put texture in there

to make it look like
rocks coming down

so it's kind of a reiteration
of where this portrait is.

So Jenny and Rachel,

they're gonna start getting
the red background done.

While that's happening,

Melissa's working on
the landscape right now.

- Whoo, doing it!
- Whoo!

- There's some hot-girl shit!
- Whoo!

I definitely want it
to come out

that you want it to have
that dimension.

- Are we gonna come out?

ANTONIO: In today's challenge,

I have to re-create
the portrait

of Marie-Thérèse Walter
by Pablo Picasso.

I think it's going to be
my take on it.

I'm really trying to re-create
this as best I can

in a paint-by-numbers approach
in giving it texture and depth.

Ron and Kiara are working
on the background,

putting the blues
and blacks in.

Canaan's working on the neck

and then Lutfi is working on
marking out where the eyes go

and the features go

so we don't put flowers
underneath it

and waste product.

I feel good. I'm excited.

I ain't goin' home today.

I think this is an iconic
Full Bloom challenge.

It was my favorite team
challenge from season one

and I do think we set them up
for success with these Picassos

because of the structure
and the more linear shape.

The thing that I think
is the most hard

is the detail work.

How do you get that dimension,
how do you do that?

It's all about the execution.

LUTFI: Canaan, can you hand me
some blue carnation over here?

Gorgeous.

- Good?

You made me forget
what I was going to get!

- You're doing nails.

It's so hot there's a horn

Right now,
I'm taking care of the eye.

We're using these really
beautiful carnations.

Carnations are such
a typical flower

that you can find in
the street markets in Honduras.

She is, like, resilient,
she's like your best friend,

you know, she can be, like, in
your house for a whole week.

It's fabulous.

CANAAN: They're beautiful

and they come in the colors of
the rainbow, let's be clear.

ANTONIO: OK, you've got it.
Bouquet.

Florists, you have had one
hour
of your four-hour challenge.

to make it look like

the mountainy landscape

So I'm cutting all of my stems
at an angle,

space for it to drink water

for creating
your interpretation

We're doing the best we can

to get it as close as we can
to it, really.

So tell me, how did you
become a florist?

How did you get into it?

I started out
working in a grocery store

and the floral department
has a processor

and I moved onto the floor
and they were like,

"Hey, if you're gonna do this,

"you're going to have to learn
how to make arrangements."

People out in the world have
an expectation

of what florists
should look like.

I've lost jobs
because of the way I look.

I'm a man with a big beard
and raggedy clothes.

I'm married.
I have two daughters.

They're my biggest fans,
for sure.

The coolest arrangement
I've ever made

is help making kids, you know.

I thought you were very clever
because your top of your frame

you have finished and finessed
to such an extent

you don't need to return there.

I trust this team
to make something beautiful

and execute my vision.

I'm just a daddy
to the team over here.

Well, I think Daddy seems to
have it under control so far.

Those eyebrows
are no, no, on the right.

I'm really worried right now.

We spent so much time
on those mountains.

We have green in between.

The green down the face
is important.

Florists, we wanted you to
reimagine Picasso's painting

using dimension, texture
and choice of flowers

to capture his style.

Red team. Antonio.

So, I was trying to make it
abstract, right.

I think I did a good job
of that part.

- I'm not done!
- Talk it up! There you go!

It was first and foremost
a hell of a project.

- Yeah.
- It was difficult.

But we really wanted to try to
get the color in her face

and the shape of her
to stand out

and we really wanted to just
get all this texture in there

with almost having
brushstrokes
kind of coming down with it

and trying to like make her
come out of the frame for us.

She's beautiful.

I think you all did
an incredible job.

The scissor lift came down
just a tiny bit

and I was like, "The textures
translate beautifully."

I loved how meticulous you were

of getting that very sharp
diagonal line

because it really helps to pop
everything off of the page.

Where I think you guys could've
been more successful,

the eyes are the key
to the soul.

- Yeah.
- And those eyes...

..are telling some lies
because...

..I don't know!

I just... I don't see it.

The more I look at it...

I feel like your stripes
could've been a lot stronger.

- Yeah.
- Yeah.

Because it gets a little...

I just totally disagree
with that.

I love those gladioli.

It's a breath, it's an
intimation of those stripes

and for me it works
brilliantly well.

Tell us your reimagining of
Picasso's Dora Maar.

We had a really good time
creating this piece.

For creativity I wanted to try
to incorporate

the landscape we have
behind the portrait

of where we're located,
with the slant of the rocks,

and then for dimension,
we did very exaggerated pieces

that are popping out to really
give you a feel

when you walk up close to it

and see the difference
in depth.

Parts of it I am adoring.

I think you've been
incredibly clever

with your use of plant material
to create some of the movement

and the brushstrokes.

The tumble of green that falls
between her eyes

using the dendrobiums, the
Amaranthus that's up there...

- It's so pretty.
- It's beautiful, isn't it?

- It's so pretty.
- Absolutely beautiful.

We talked about extra credit,
right?

No!

Do you feel like your
extra credit was successful?

That is a very difficult
question.

I definitely wanted to add
a few more pieces

for the landscape to read
but I feel like we got her.

And, Melissa, Rachel, Jenny,
would you have dissented

and said, "Please can we take
the pampas grass down?"

- Yes.

We did, a little.

Yeah, we mentioned

that we should stick to the
painting and the foundation

the fascinator that you've

To tell me that they're part of
a mountainscape

within which we're standing,
they just aren't for me,

they're three satellites
of pampas grass.

What I hope to see here

is absolutely exquisite
floristry skills.

I need to see manipulation
of plant material,

using wires, using some of
the tapes we've given them.

So we're literally wanting them
to reconstruct nature

but on a microscopic scale.

I am so excited.
Taking them all apart.

This is a jasmine vine.

You can see these are, like,
the scale of flowers.

And the challenge is all about
precision and creativity

and also taking the plant
pieces or the flower pieces

and taking them apart

and then re-creating something
with that.

I'm here to show
that I still belong here.

SIMON: I've just been watching
Melissa

and she is truly deconstructing
and reconstructing.

She's taking ranunculus and
oncidiums, dismantling them,

and then she's forming
this sort of strange, exotic,

vaguely anthuriumish flower.

- Absolutely beautiful.
ELIZABETH: Love that.

SARAH, V/O: I definitely
want to give the judges

a surprise element,
as usual,

but learning a lesson from
yesterday, I want to make sure

that I get the main part
of the project done first

before I go into, like,
extracurriculars.

I think it's so important

that everyone has heard us say
deconstruct and reconstruct

because I'm not certain

that everyone understood
that portion of it.

I think there's some people
pulling heads off

and putting them
maybe in a different place

but that's not a deconstruct
and a reconstruct.

There needs to be some magic,
some alchemy.

I want the deceit that we, as
florists, practise every day

where we turn something
that isn't what it is

into something magical.

drawn to this birdcage

because it's so ornate,
so delicate,

and almost like whimsical.

I wanted to see how this would
be able to weave in between

these beautiful, like, accents

'cause my vision is gonna
kind of start here, wind up,

and then explode out of this
cute little cage here.

I'm feeling a little nervous.

This is the second time

being in the losing team,
unfortunately.

I don't want to go home.

I have never looked at flowers
under a magnifying glass.

It's amazing!

I'm here to challenge myself,

I'm here to step outside
my comfort zone.

How's it going?

It's tedious, like we went
from large to small

and I haven't done
either, ever.

So this is like two firsts
for you.

This is pretty wild.

When I was little I used to
love Alice in Wonderland,

when the flowers talked
to you

and, you know, being a shaman
the flowers do talk to me

so these, I'm like,
"OK, talk to me, flowers.

"I gotta win this!"

So tell me, how are they
speaking to you?

Every flower has
a different message

when I touch it and feel it,
so, for example,

the mint is here for me right
now to give me some guidance

and the umbrella fern

is to give, like, an
understanding for the process.

OK. You know, that is...a
little out there.

- Now, here's the thing.
- Yeah.

This is a challenge that is
all
about precision and detail

and, at the moment,
what I'm seeing here

with your hyacinths,
they look really messy.

Yeah. I'm gonna fix them.

You can see all the glue
and all your mechanics here.

At this point in the game,

we shouldn't see how you
wire things,

how you put things together,
knowing how to use floral
tape.

It is a testament of how
skilled you are

so we really
want to see that.

So tell me
about your tiny challenge.

So I picked a little
nail polish bottle.

Why did you choose that?

I love getting my nails done.

One of my girls really loves
getting her nails done as well

so we enjoy that together.

MELISSA, V/O: I think that
I use florals

to show people
that I care about them.

It's all just such
an act of care for me.

Currently, my wife, Loretta,
and I have, in our care,

a little 11-year-old.

I'm somebody who's protective.

I want people around me
to feel comfortable, safe

and also to be able
to live their truth.

I see you've been mounting
things onto florist's wires.

This is an oncidium orchid

and you've used
just these flowers

or have you added in
other petals?

I added a few petals
of this butterfly ranunculus

which is delicious.

So you've added in
some ranunculus petals

so you've literally
deconstructed and reassembled.

- I'm loving that.
- Thank you.

But you also chose the hyacinth

and I love dismantling those
and reassembling them.

- Do you?
- Oh, for something like this

I would literally make
a little hook...

..and just drop that
down through the flower

and then it anchors it there

and then you have your
little...

..your stem wire.

Now, you just twist and pull
and as you do that,

you then replicate
that lovely, natural stem.

This is so fine.

MELISSA, V/O: It was
such a treat to watch.

He did it so fast
and so elegantly

and then that bloom could be
manipulated in any way.

I am definitely going to
practise what he taught me.

I've got this.

So, what's happening here?

I want to make a hummingbird
out of the jasmine buds...

Oh, I love that.

..and have that coming
into one of the flowers.

I think I may be able to do it

'cause I make jewellery
for South Asian brides,

like Pakistani
and Indian brides.

One of the pre-wedding events
is called a mehndi.

They literally take the buds
of jasmines

that are the size of
lily-of-the-valley,

string them,

particularly in a way where all
the buds are facing outwards,

and make, like, very delicate
jewelry pieces,

earrings and bracelets,
midi rings,

and that's what the bride wears

and so I work with teeny tiny
things like this in Oasis glue

so this is like heaven for me.

out of stripped pansy petals.

It's so hard working with
these
because they're so delicate

and, like, flowers bruise
very easily

so the more you touch them
in different places

the quicker they turn...brown.

because pearls accentuate

I'm just, like, popping them
in there intentionally

to kind of reinforce
my vision with this.

Your task was to create
a miniature masterpiece

with the potential to make
a big difference.

And the person who fails
to do that today

will be leaving us.

We asked for
surgical precision.

So let's see whose floral
operation was successful.

Sarah, would you please come up
and show us your tiny bouquet.

So, for my piece,

I made a jasmine bud
hummingbird

and I wanted it to be
like a fantasy hummingbird

that blends in with the pansies

so I deconstructed
some of the pansy petals

to use as part of its
fluttery wings.

I think that was such
a beautiful

and creative, innovative way
to dissect a flower

and then to reimagine it.

I mean, you really hit
the criteria there.

The most beautiful part
about it

is how effortless it is.

Everything is just
so thoughtful

and then to just top it off
with the hummingbird

is stellar.

SIMON: You've given us
a tiny Fabergé brooch

of a hummingbird.

It's a beautiful composition
of perfectly chosen flowers

that are presented
immaculately.

Jenny,

tell us about the journey
of your piece.

This is my first time designing
a mini piece.

It was really fun.

I really took it to heart.

You know, I like to use tulips,
I like spring colors,

so I used the hyacinth
as miniature little tulips

in the design.

It literally looks like
a large urn arrangement.

I think you've nailed
that translation.

For me, my pickiness here

is gonna be all of the blooms
that are not making it

at this point.

- The ferns are, you know...
MAURICE: Crispy.

ELIZABETH: They're crispy
and they're out of water.

I love greens.

Greens is one of my favorites

when it comes to
flower arranging,

like the peek of mint -

it looks like there's a little
Italian pittosporum in there.

Where I am struggling a bit,
you talked about making sure

that there were
no mechanics showing

but there's tons of glue spots.

It makes it feel
a little sloppy for me.

Melissa, please tell us
the tale of your tiny creation.

My wife and I recently
took in an 11-year-old.

That's one thing her
and I really bonded over,

is getting her nails done.

So I just pulled in lots of
different flowers

that really reminded me of her

and then at the bottom
I put a little garden

because we're welcoming her
into the family

so there's one little front
left for her to tell her tale

and, yeah.

This little section here

with the alliums
and the tulip centre

is so awesome to me.

I love that you used
the jasmine vine leaves.

I actually want to go
over to the screen

because I think
yours translates..

Because he hasn't used
his pointer yet.

'Cause he's not used
his pointer yet.

Well, because yours translates
so well,

like the way you've
transformed
all of these little bits

like everything looks
super articulated.

Like it's so freakin' pretty.

And I love the illusion,

I mean this I would think
would be full scale

because you really did
transform every step.

So I think job...well done.

But you know
I got something to say.

Ready for it.

I find it to also be
a little junky.

While I like
all the little textures,

I think it could've just been
dialled in a bit better.

Yep.

Rachel, tell us
what you've created here.

I'm quite sentimental

so I was instantly drawn to
the birdcage.

It reminds me of actually
like my favorite ring here.

My mom gave me this ring
and it's super special to me

because my father passed away
from a long bout with cancer

so it was another way

to always keeping a loved one
close to me.

So, you know,
drawing back to this,

I really wanted to create
something special.

I think the palette makes sense
with the birdcage,

I love that you used
those pearl pins,

I think that's a great accent.

I love how you're using
this larkspur

as like a showpiece.

What I can say is

I'm not sure that I see
the reimagining of a bloom.

OK.

Where I'm disappointed is

I'm a bit disappointed
not to see you

craft and create a flower
for us

out of elements
and constituents

of other plant material.
