This was supposed to be my dream.

It's just really fallen apart.

Grand Central Station for the dead.

I see dead people.

They have pain that they suffered.

I speak to dead people.

She hates them, hates them.

And they speak to me, but there's only one way to know

if my findings are real.

It's a demon.

It's Satan.

I rely on my partner.

I'm a retired New York City homicide detective.

What was the body count? What happened?

And I know every person, every house has secrets.

I don't know if it's a demon or not,

but it sure as hell looks like one.

It's my job to reveal them.

I feel like I'm crazy.

It's about an hour north of Milwaukee.

Got a call from a mom named Carole.

Now, she recently fulfilled her lifelong dream

moving her family out to a horse farm.

She says it's been nothing but a disaster.

No one's safe.

It's getting worse by the day,

and she says if Amy and I can't fix it,

somebody's gonna get killed.

I can't hide the fact that this is a horse farm,

but I still need to cover leading information

like artwork, religious symbols, and family photos

that could influence Amy's findings.

When I'm done, the location will be ready for tonight's walk.

I'm seeing a living woman.

She's getting attacked by the land,

like, swallowed up in the ground.

She is overwhelmed.

The earth is wanting to absorb her.

He wants to kill her.

So, Carole, I appreciate you showing me around the property.

I mean, it's absolutely beautiful here.

But when we spoke on the phone originally,

you were very upset by what's happened,

so tell me what's going on here.

It's really horrible here.

Something is attacking my family,

and we don't feel safe here.

So, Carole, I'm curious.

What's with the horses?

It's something that I've always wanted to do

was have my own farm,

so I could have my horses at home and...

this is always what I've wanted to do,

and it's just been a nightmare.

I understand.

It's kind of a huge price to pay for my dream.

Okay, so, now, who all lives in the house?

My husband, my daughter, and I.

Okay, how old is your daughter?

15.

So, Carole, if you can, do me a favor

and just give me an idea of

a rundown of what's going on here.

There's activity pretty much every day.

Objects move on their own.

Our electronics turn on and off on their own.

We see shadow figures in the barn and in the house.

How's it been affecting you, the family?

It's been really hard on my marriage.

Little things can set us off.

I feel very guilty because I wanted this.

I'm not sure how my husband ever felt,

but he's always supported me.

I try to, like, minimize it for Ashley

because I try not to feed into her fear.

Okay. It's tough enough being a teenager.

Yeah.

You know any history about the property

that might help my investigation?

I've heard from the neighbors

that a woman committed suicide on the property,

but long before we owned it.

All right, I'll look into that.

Well, I'm curious as to what you think is here.

I just think it's something really dark and really evil.

It likes us to be unhappy.

I think it wants us to either leave,

or it wants to hurt us.

This living woman, I was getting her feelings.

She was feeling stuck, feeling overwhelmed with this,

like, maybe thinking it's too much for her here.

What I saw was, like, she's standing on this land,

and it's like quicksand.

It's up to her thighs, and it's causing her heart

and/or breathing issues

and possibly something with her blood or circulation.

She feels like she's alone.

She's got to be worried about all this stuff.

So, Carole, what's going on in here?

Well, the other day, we had a picture frame

just go flying off the piano pretty much across the room,

and it hit the floor.

Piano looks level.

Was it fixed, or has it always been that level?

It's always been like that, that I know of.

All right, so you got pictures flying off the piano.

Anything else?

I was just sitting on the couch relaxing,

and I noticed that the light turned on in the bathroom.

Was anybody else home?

No, I was alone.

Did you ever have an electrician come out

and check this stuff out?

Yes. We have had all the electrical updated

on the property and the house.

All right. So anything else?

The other day, my daughter and I were sitting on the couch,

and the TV just turned on by itself.

You leave the remote lying around?

We had it sitting on the coffee table in front of us.

It wasn't where, like, we could touch it or the dogs.

It terrified my daughter.

She ended up not even being able to sleep that night,

she was so scared.

Dear.

I'm just seeing this living woman, like, losing her

**** down here, just coming down here to, like, vent.

Things might happen for her down here --

objects moving, doors shaking,

electronics malfunctioning,

light bulbs going out, TV stuff.

But I do feel like she's a PK agent,

you know, the typical things that happen with,

like, poltergeist activity.

You know, I don't know what's going on with these headaches.

So what's going on?

Well, I have really weird health issues here.

Okay, like what?

I just feel like I'm being drained all the time.

I get really bad headaches.

I don't know if that's paranormal or not,

but you seem to think it is.

Yes, only because I've never had that before.

Okay, anything else?

I get scratched a lot.

I have picture of some of them.

This ain't an allergic reaction, obviously, to anything.

Anything in the bed that could cause the scratches?

I don't think so, no.

Anything else?

I have seen shadows in this room.

So when you're seeing the shadow figures,

what exactly is it looking like?

It's like darkness, like, really pitch darkness.

You open your eyes, and it's as black as, like,

there's no light at all.

When that happens, it's really bad.

Like, I really have a hard time breathing

when that shadow is here,

and it feels, like, really heavy like something's

almost pressing down on you when you're trying to sleep.

The hell you think that is and what it wants?

Hate to think this, but I think maybe it wants to kill me.

I don't like this

at all.

There was a shadow thing here,

and then it sat up,

and then it slid right under there,

and it made me feel like sick,

and it **** felt evil.

I don't like that.

It never was a living person, real shadow person.

But a person in here,

this is already a sick person,

and then this shadow person is feeding.

It's, like, taking in their energy and...

all, like, their breath, making her sick.

- Is this the person with PK? - Yes.

And so what kind of experiences

would they be having with all this?

This person would feel having episodes of waking up,

like, you know, with shortness of breath.

This shadow person makes them feel smothered,

basically sucking the life out of them.

Because they're already weak,

it'll kill this person.

So, Ashley, your mom tells me

about all the stuff going on in the house.-

Okay. It's pretty scary stuff, right? Yeah.

She's pretty worried about you. Has she told you that?

Yes, and I'm really, really worried about her, actually.

I'm just scared it's gonna go too far,

and it'll take her away.

I'm actually really scared about losing her.

Okay. You seem a little on edge.

You okay?

Yeah, I just have a bit of anxiety.

I apologize.

So, Ashley, when I was talking to Mom,

she was telling me that she deals with bad headaches,

trouble breathing, feeling drained.

Are you feeling any of those things?

I'm actually feeling all of them. Okay.

I just want to talk about any other experiences

you might have had.

Well, I've been seeing shadows in the hallway.

You've seen them from your bedroom?

Yes, I usually see them from my bedroom.

Okay, what kind of shadows are we talking about?

They look like blobs, like, shapeless blobs.

What do you think they're doing?

I just feel like they're watching me usually.

So I was talking to your mom, and she was having some issues

with a shadow-type figure in her room.

Do you think it could be the same thing

that you're seeing, by any chance,

that might be going into Mom's room?

Think so. It scares me.

- Okay. All right. Relax. - I'm sorry.

It's all right. Relax, relax.

Nobody's gonna hurt you while I'm here, okay?

I've been shoved, actually.

In bed, when I'm laying down.

I'll basically be almost, like, nearly asleep,

and then I just feel this, like, kind of rough shove.

Does it feel like an adult is touching you?

Yes.

Well, I've also heard banging on the walls.

Now, have you ever gone by the door

and looked out to see what's there?

No. I've been too scared.

I don't blame you.

You have any idea what it could be?

Well, I think probably something malevolent or demonic, maybe.

There is a thing here.

This thing is massive.

It has, like, legs.

It's moving, but it feels like some kind of, like,

a animal or something, like a big elephant.

It's like a massive moving energy.

It's protecting the ground.

So is it doing anything to the living?

I feel like the living would feel it.

They would hear it.

This is causing real fear, and it's not good.

There's definitely freaking out about noises.

They are hearing the thing outside.

Feels like, you know, the house is shaking.

Feel like there's illness in here, too.

This person in here,

they have headaches, wicked.

The person in here

has a shadow-person issue.

They are not having direct interaction

with a shadow person,

but they see the shadow person watching them.

So, Grant, I was talking to your wife earlier today.-

She thinks that whatever is here is pretty dangerous.

I mean, you agree with that at all? I do.

Before I moved here, I was pretty skeptical,

but I'm convinced there's something here,

and it's paranormal.

Like, I don't have any doubts.

Any experiences you could tell me about?

Yeah, I heard a loud, aggressive bang on the side of the house.

Okay, can you describe how bad it was?

Yeah.

- That loud? - That loud.

And I went outside.

There was absolutely nothing around.

No indication of somebody trying to break in?

- No. - Anything else?

Whatever is here is affecting me mentally, I believe.

Okay, in what way?

My attitude and my mood swings

have been just off the charts since I moved here.

What are you experiencing?

I just have a very short temper, and I also cannot concentrate

on doing things like I used to before I came here.

I lose track of thought, scattered,

and it just drives me nuts.

Your wife, she was mentioning there's some other stuff

going on like bad headaches and feeling drained.

Are you having any of that?

Yeah, headaches and feeling very tired

all the time when I'm home.

What do you think its intention is?

I have a feeling it just wants to make everybody unhappy

and wants us to leave.

I think it wants to destroy my marriage.

The energy is extremely intense

where the house is and beyond,

so I'm thinking that there is kind of, like, a weird,

like, vortex kind of thing

going on over there.

That might be causing the headaches,

probably the nausea, the vertigo.

Where's this vortex?

That a way.

Would being in this kind of proximity

to a vortex have an affect on the living?

Yes, it can do a lot of things.

It can enhance abilities.

It can make you have insomnia.

The earth is hurting the woman.

It might want her.

If it gets her, what would happen?

She'd die.

So Carole told me she thought there was a suicide

on her property before she owned it.

Now, clients get this stuff wrong all the time,

but I asked a retired cop to look into it for me.

He says Carole was right, and the way the victim did it

is what's really gonna surprise me.

Well, Otto, I appreciate you helping me out with this case.

So the woman that killed herself on my client's property,

I mean, what do we know about her?

Well, her name was Angelina White.

Like the client, she loves horses and animals.

In fact, she owned two horses.

She stabled them right near her apartment here.

Okay, so she didn't have those horses on my client's property.

- Correct. - All right.

So take me through the suicide. What happened?

In the evening of August 18, 2011,

Angelina's best friend

heard some noises outside her apartment,

so she goes outside to investigate the noises,

and she finds a plastic container.

Inside the container,

she finds numerous photographs of Angelina.

She also found a suicide note.

She was concerned, so she called the local authorities

to report her missing.

Okay, so the cops are involved now.

- What happens next? - Yeah.

Law firm got a tip about an abandoned truck at a farm.

And I assume that's my client's property. Yes.

Okay, so the cops go to the scene, I assume. Yes.

Inside the truck, on the front seat, is another suicide note.

Okay, so now we got two suicide notes.

Yes.

"To all my loved ones, please forgive me for this final act.

"There are a lot of things I haven't told anyone about,

"which are the reasons for my action.

Let me fade away like I was never here."

What a shame. All right.

So we got a note. We got the truck.

What happens next?

They searched the grounds, and a short time later,

at 8:41 a.m.,

they found her body laying on the ground next to a barn.

All right. So this is where she's found.

- Yes. - What was the method of suicide?

She used her.45-caliber semiautomatic pistol,

put it in her mouth.

All right, so she shot herself in the head. Yes.

Not very often you see a woman

committing suicide in this manner.

It's not typical.

Usually, they don't alter their face or body.

All right, so she didn't keep her horses there.

Do we have any clue

why she would commit suicide at that location?

No, I can only speculate.

I think because she's a horse enthusiast,

she just drove and found a place she loved.

I'm seeing two women,

but I think they're the same dead person.

Like, one is a carbon copy

outline of the other woman,

so I don't know if this is her death,

and she's disassociating herself from it.

She's an angry person.

She's just sitting there, glaring at me.

I am getting like I got shot in the back of the head.

Whoever it is, is straight-up in the moment of it piercing them.

That sucks that they're feeling that pain.

It hurts..

I would not want to live here, man.

So before I got to town, I called a local historian

and asked her to do some digging for me.

Now, she just called back and said she's got something good.

Turns out one of the early owners of Carole's property

was a religious nut,

and this guy's obsession with religion

wound up driving him crazy and destroying his family.

Well, Patricia, I appreciate you helping me out

with this case.

You mentioned on the phone the guy

that owned my client's property was a bit of a nut bag.

What do we know about this guy?

His name was John Wren.

He was an Irish immigrant, and the Wren family

bought your client's property in 1850 to farm on,

but they also probably moved here

because they were very devout Catholics,

and the whole area was considered very sacred.

So, now, you mentioned on the phone

that religion played a big part in this guy going crazy.

What was that all about?

Well, unfortunately for John, his wife died young,

leaving him with four children and the farm.

How old was she when she died?

She was only 43 years old.

He seems to have turned to religion.

He becomes more fanatical in his religious beliefs.

It kind of spirals out of control for him.

He has to move in with his sister

because he can't take care of himself or his farm,

and we do have a census record from 1880,

and he's listed as insane.

So by 1880, he's a widower.

He's living with his sister.

He's deemed insane, but he's still living

on my client's property. - Yes.

Unfortunately, he became more dangerous, more violent,

and in 1883, he gets ahold of a gun,

and he tries to shoot the family.

Well, they, of course, have to call the sheriff.

He deems that John needs to go up to the asylum.

When he gets to that asylum,

the professionals diagnosed him with religious mania.

Now, what the hell is that?

Well, it's -- We're not certain,

but we believe that maybe he became more fanatical.

All right. So he's in the asylum.

What happens with him?

He actually does get out of the asylum in 1887.

So he goes and lives with his daughter, Sarah,

and he dies in 1908.

We have the death certificate here.

That's tragic.

There's somebody who comes in here, some dead guy.

Not thinking he really wants me here.

Just see him, like, running back and forth,

hitting on the walls,

running and hitting and running and hitting.

He's extremely scattered, just kind of losing it.

He's just flipping out.

He just seems, like, mentally ill.

He doesn't belong here.

I don't know why he's still here or anything.

I don't know.

He seems pissed off.

Just feels like he's just off his rocker.

I feel like he owned this place.

He's just shady.

I don't trust him for ****.

So far, I've got a family being terrorized by

shadow figures and physical attacks on a property

where one man went insane and a woman committed suicide.

But I want to see if there's anything else.

Searching through old records,

I find a place next to Carole's property called Holy Hill.

Turns out several people who went there looking

for a miracle wound up dying under mysterious circumstances.

I'm heading over to meet an author

who says people have been traveling to Holy Hill

for more than 150 years,

and some of those people never made it out alive.

Linda, I appreciate you helping me out with this case.

Now, you mentioned on the phone this hill

right by my client's property.

What can you tell me about it?

Your client's property is located

about 2,000 feet from Holy Hill.

There's been a big Roman Catholic basilica

up there since the 1930s.

What exactly is a basilica?

A basilica is something that has been given special privileges

by the Vatican.

Okay, so this is a big deal for the Catholic religion. Correct.

And even before they arrived, it was considered holy

by the indigenous people who lived there.

There were at least four different tribes

when the settlers arrived,

and they all considered it to be a special holy place.

Why is it so important? Why is it called Holy Hill?

According to the story,

there was a mysterious hermit who was disabled

and somehow managed to get up to the top of this hill.

He stayed there for several years, and during that time,

he was miraculously healed of his illness

and was able to walk again.

People took notice.

They all wanted their own piece of the healing.

Okay, so let me get this straight,

people were coming here just because of this story. Yes.

When you have healing miracles

going on any place, people will come.

They want to be part of that.

So, now, Linda, on the phone, you mentioned that people

that made this pilgrimage there,

some of them didn't make it out alive, right?

- So what'd you mean by that? - Yes.

August 6th of 1941,

there was a tourist bus,

and the emergency brake gave out.

It hurdled backwards down the hill

and unfortunately, hit a lady from Milwaukee

who was standing down below

and could not get out of the way in time.

She was crushed to death by the wheels of the bus.

- Any other examples of that? - Yes.

In June 1932, a young man was digging a trench

around the building.

The walls of the trench caved in on him,

and he was buried alive just in an instant.

What a shame.

Okay, so this guy was suffocated.

That's the official cause of death.

It's odd that some place they call

Holy Hill has such tragedy attached to it.

I'm seeing that the earth here is bad.

Usually it's really healing.

Usually the earth is good,

but it's not here.

It's like quicksand.

Saw a bunch of dead people

in a hole.

Why would a place, like, want to eat you?

Is there any kind of sacrifice ****?

Like, did the land need some of that?

You know, was this sacred ground first,

and, like, are these some kind of sacrifice?

Could have been, like, some kind of religious people.

That big elephant thing, it's the earth's protector.

It might have been called upon to do this duty

because it's sacred ground.

I saw several disturbing things on my walk, but two stood out,

first, the shadow person attacking a living woman.

Really black, no face, long neck,

and it is leaning over her and like this,

so, like, it's been, like, absorbing her breath.

And her hair, lighter at the ends, darker at the top. Okay.

Next, I describe the bizarre scene

I saw where the earth was trying to absorb a living woman.

She was in the ground,

like, up to her thighs.

It's literally, like, taking her in,

and there's all of these ivy

wrapping around her fingers

and up to her arms to about here.

Amy, is this what you saw?

Yes. That's what I saw.

Now that Amy and I have completed our investigations,

we're ready to reveal our findings to each other

and our clients for the first time.

Amy, I'd like you to meet Carole and her husband, Grant.

They live here with their daughter, Ashley,

who is 15.

Now, it was a lifelong dream of Carole's

to own a horse farm of her own,

but ever since they moved here four years ago,

the activity here has been aggressive and dangerous,

and frankly, these two feel that if we can't help them out,

something here is gonna kill them.

So now that Amy is introduced to you guys,

she'll tell us about her walk.

There seems to be

a lot of PK here.

I got that there is a living agent here

who has that type of ability.

I believe it to be a living woman.

I saw this living woman

kind of releasing pent-up stress

and things like that.

Things might happen for her down here --

objects moving, doors shaking,

electronics malfunctioning,

light bulbs going out, TV stuff.

Tell her about the TV turning on by itself.

Yeah, my daughter and I were talking on the couch,

and the TV turned on, and it turned on really loud,

like, way louder than we ever would just have it to watch TV.

Tell her what happened when the picture

went flying off the piano.

Well, I was sitting in the chair, and all of a sudden,

I watched one of my pictures just go flying up and off,

went quite a distance and hit the floor and broke.

Wow.

Carole, you're the only living adult woman in this home.

Yes.

So obviously you're talking about her.

Yes,

That sounds like typical PK experiences

or poltergeist phenomenon, yes.

I'm really nervous. I'm worried for my family.

If I'm doing this, it's really frightening.

I'm surprised. I mean...

What? You, like, afraid of me now?

No, not at all.

I'm kind of afraid of me now.

No, no, no.

The other thing that I got was outside, in the back,

you have a vortex.

It can cause a number of physical and mental issues,

insomnia, vertigo, nausea,

and especially headaches.

Mental confusion and dizziness can be other effects.

Now, you hit on a lot of experiences Carole

and her family are having -- the headaches.

Yeah, definitely, we all suffer the headaches.

Now, you don't sleep, right?

Yeah, I don't sleep well at all,

I'm always tired here, always tired.

- You had mentioned confusion. - Yeah.

It's the same as what we were talking about, right,

losing your concentration?

Yeah, I'm losing concentration.

I go work on something,

and I'm just, like, floating about,

and like, "I can't concentrate on this."

It's awful.

The next thing that I encountered outside

was a very large presence,

and it reminded me initially of an elephant,

and it does go all over the property,

so there's a few ways

that you could have experiences with this thing.

You will feel its presence

and become intensely fearful,

and you will feel threatened like you

are going to be attacked.

You have that feeling of being anxious and everything.

Yes, like, especially in our bedroom,

like something wants to hurt me or attack me,

and it just really scares me to the point

where I have to leave the room.

I just feel like it doesn't want us here.

Like, it's trying to scare us away.

I was hearing the living hearing it kind of brushing up

against the house on occasion.

When it does this, the walls will shake.

Its main goal is that it wants you guys away from here.

Well, you described the bang you heard on the house that just --

Yeah, we were getting ready for bed, was kind of settling in.

All of a sudden, I hear this loud bang

like somebody just hit the house as hard as they could.

I'm curious as to what the hell

this thing is doing here, though. It is some type of protector,

and its mission is to protect this land.

I got that this land is sacred, but what's so strange is,

usually land, even in sacred areas,

doesn't particularly interact with the living.

This is really unusual

because the land wants to absorb you.

It's removing your life source slowly.

It's trying to kill you.

I kind of felt that way, you know?

I kind of felt like it wanted to hurt me.

It's crazy, you know? It's really frightening.

It's probably a good time

to talk about the history of this land.

Now, the property sits below an area

known as Holy Hill, right?

Yeah.

The Catholics thought this place was so sacred,

they built a massive basilica up there.

Now, you guys see it from your driveway every day.

I just saw it driving here tonight.

Yeah.

A basilica is like a church or a cathedral,

but it gets special privileges

given to it by the Vatican because the site is so holy.

I got a photo of it.

This was what it looks like during the day.

In the 1850s, a story came out about a disabled hermit

who miraculously regained the use of his legs

while he was living up there.

After that, Catholics flocked

from all over the place by the thousands.

Lot of people actually claimed they found it,

that they were healed.

But over the years, several others who visited

Holy Hill died under strange circumstances.

Now, could any of that tie

into the sacred land you're talking about?

Well, yeah, I would assume so.

Funny thing is, I can't recall,

in all the investigations we've done,

you ever talking about the land itself

wanting to kill somebody.

It loves your energy,

and it wants you to become part of that.

I did have a sketch done of it, of what I saw.

That's a pretty good depiction of what she's talking about.

That's disturbing.

Very disturbing.

It's a lot.

Thank you, but I never imagined in a million years

it would be anything like this.

This place overwhelms me all the time.

Sometimes, I just feel like I have to escape from it.

That's the hardest part, is, I --

This was supposed to be my dream.

It's just really fallen apart.

You also have a real shadow person here.

Yeah, like, a real shadow person.

More than likely, you would, on occasion, see it,

and this was in that bedroom.

Which is Carole and Grant's master bedroom.

Yes.

Dark, black, and solid, and, of course, when I saw it,

it made me sick.

Being affected by the shadow person

would be experiencing things like feeling smothered

or shortness of breath, having breathing issues.

It's just leeching that breath,

and what I've seen when shadow people do that

is, eventually, it kills the person.

Sometimes, when I'm in bed, I'll wake up,

and I'll feel, like, this --

It's very dark, like, super dark in the room, like,

and it feels like I can't move.

I can't get up, and I can't breathe.

It's just terrifying when it happens.-

Now, Ashley, who sleeps in the room right next to theirs,

sees these shadow figures but in the hallway.

Yes, I know. Yeah.

Like, in the doorway area of her bedroom,

so she's seeing it looking out in her doorway, yeah.

I did have a sketch done of what I saw it doing to you.

You're not gonna want to see this,

but I have to show you.

- Jeez. - My god.

That's horrible.

You okay?

No, not really.

I'm actually pissed off at this thing

trying to attack my wife, trying to kill her.

It's horrible.

I don't even want to be here.

This **** is just straight malicious.

He's much more focused on the endgame,

which is to kill you,

and the way that he watches your daughter makes me nervous.

- My daughter... - I'm getting -- both of them.

This thing did something to my daughter.

She doesn't deserve it.

This place has made her so unhappy.

I feel responsible for that.

So, Carole, I know how important this place is to you,

but both of you made it clear that keeping your family safe

is the number one priority.

So now for the big question, is there any way

for you to do that here?

For that answer, I'm gonna turn it over to Amy.

I think you know what I'm gonna say.

You're dealing with sacred land, spiritual land,

that wants you to become a part of it.

You can't stop it. You can't change it.

You can't do anything about it.

you may still have random experiences

with your abilities, but more than likely, over time,

you'll go back into, like,

a hibernation state with that.

You got bad news, but at least now you could be safe,

and you maybe could pursue your dream in another location.

We've been so miserable.

I mean, we've never been so miserable in our lives.

Feel like it's taken a huge toll on relationships,

with our relationship, relationships with our friends.

Didn't feel right here. I never felt happy here.
