Welcome,on this lesson we're going to install Inetsim simulator

The process to install Kalin Linux is the same as Windows, then I am not gonna waste your time repeating that.

Now Just let me give you some advices.

lets pick system

Generally for kali 3 gigas in ram and 2 cpu's would be enough. Remember you are taking resources from your host machine,

if you notice an excessive degradation in your system you probably are using to much ram and cpu's for your virtual machines.

The same is valid for windows, in my case I use 9 gigas and 3 cpu's for my windows virtual machine. It all depends on your pc capabilities,

the good news is you can configure this as many times as you want depending on your needs

Also If you are intending to use kali just for this course I recommend you to use the user name root

and the same name but backwards for the password,

these are standard and will save you from headaches specially if you're not good remembering credentials.

So, once you kali linux is ready lets proceed to install Inetsim. Inetsim is an internet services simulator.

Our malware samples will try to connect to its command and control center, and inetsim is able to simulate a response.

That's why we need it. We are gonna follow the oficial inetsim documentation to set things up.

But if you wish I leave you a very useful material in Lab requirements document, is a quick guide to install inetsim.

lets start, here is the oficial inetsim documentation

we start copy, paste an enter

you may know is standard procedure in linux, make an apt update when you install someting

once finish update, install inetsim the usual way apt install and the package name

once is done, just type inetsim

and success!, the simulation is running

we started inetsim just to make sure we are in the right way, we're not finish yet. So lets stop it with control C.

now we must adjust some values

sudo gedit etc network

we need to adjust the interface. I remind you, that I leave you a quick guide to help you out

we are gonna need the ethernet interface,

The command ifconfig will help us out. I am just gonna open another terminal and invoke it.

This is my interface, you can recognize it because usually starts with this 3 letters e t c, and is join by your ip address and netmask,

now back to edit interfaces, and edit the file

I'm forgetting the address here in the middle

don’t forget to save it, and that would be all

we almost there, finally we must edit the inetsim config file

sudo gedit etc inetsim inetsim.conf

lets locate and set, service bind address up, using your ip

type your ip, in my case is 10 0 5 4

now go for dns default ip value

same thing, set this value up with your ip address
