[Hayate the Combat Butler] Episode Four

Ju Xuan, since Ze Yu isn't coming, you don't need to come either.

If you tell me not to come, then I'll definitely come.

- You... - I... What?

- I don't want you to come. - It's not up to you. I'm coming.

Mistress, you're so fierce to your fiancé.

That's because...

Ju Xuan, why did you tell Xiao Sa you're my fiancé?

It's the truth, why can't I tell others?

I'm so mad. Get out.

Get out quickly!

Young Master Ze Yu.

Ji Shen, didn't I tell you not to wait for me?

As your butler, I must take care of you.

Ji Shen, have you been secretly coming to Xiao Zhi's place to watch her?

I thought you fell asleep and you wouldn't know.

Don't forget. I'm the Duan Mu Ze Yu with mysterious powers.

You were so suddenly brought to our family by Master Di two years ago.

Do you still miss Xiao Zhi?

If you miss her, you can go see her.

No. I only think of Young Master Ze Yu.

- I'm not disloyal. - Really?

But I don't mind if you meet with Xiao Zhi.

I understand your thinking

but I must follow the rules of being a butler.

I know what I should do.

Maria told me to come.

Glaring at me is useless.

Don't speak nonsense in front of Xiao Sa.

I don't recognize you as my fiancé.

Do you think I'm happy to be your fiancé?

And you shouldn't be worrying about this right now.

What else should I be worrying about?

Did you forget that you're inheriting the Royal Jade?

So what?

I don't know what will happen to you.

Over the years, all those who inherited the Royal Jade died unnatural deaths.

Do you know how many people want to steal this Royal Jade with mysterious power?

I'm not scared with Xiao Sa around.

He'll definitely protect me.

What can he do?

Even if it's dangerous to inherit the Royal Jade

I must do it.

Does Young Master Ju Xuan stay here often?

Sometimes.

The Mistress really doesn't like getting close to strangers

so I ask Young Master Ju Xuan to come every year for her birthday.

It's late, so let him stay over for the night.

But the Mistress doesn't seem to like Young Master Ju Xuan a lot.

They don't seem to love each other, so is it an arranged marriage?

Their marriage was arranged by their mothers

Miss Jing and Miss Mei Qin when they were alive.

I see.

But how come I never heard of a rich family with the surname Ju?

I would remember such a unique surname.

Xiao Sa, the bed is made.

- Let's go out. - Okay.

Xiao Sa, are you tired?

You're sweating.

I'll wipe it myself. Thanks.

This is...

Is this a seashell from that beach?

Yes.

I got it when I watched the sunrise.

Why didn't you take it out earlier?

I'll give it to the Mistress for you.

Maria.

I don't know why I brought this seashell back.

But when I picked it up

I didn't intend to give it to the Mistress.

Instead...

I wanted to give it to you.

It's okay if you don't want it.

Really, it's okay.

You just want to thank me for helping you become a butler

that's why you're giving me this seashell.

Right?

I don't think so.

Yes.

I think so.

Then of course I'll accept it.

Thank you.

Now that you're a butler, we should discuss your salary.

I almost forgot. I met a weird old man on a motorcycle

that cleared my NT$55,000,000 debt.

Cleared your NT$55,000,000 debt?

I don't even know him.

He said I'll know who he is soon.

A very rich old man riding a motorcycle?

- It can't be him. - Who is it?

I think the old man you met is Master Di, head of the household.

I said you will know who I am soon.

Ling Qi Sa.

Hello, Master Di.

You must have a lot of questions for me, right?

Yes, Master Di.

Even though I'm grateful you cleared my debt

but I want to know why.

Why? The reason is simple.

I want to trade with you.

- Trade? - That's right.

I paid your debt.

In return, do something for me on Xiao Zhi's eighteenth birthday ceremony.

I'm sorry, Master Di.

I'll have to say no.

You rejected me even though you don't know what it is.

It is worth NT$55,000,000

so it must not be something simple.

Also, if I'm right

it can hurt the Mistress.

What are you saying?

Why would I harm my own granddaughter?

I'm sorry.

But your instinct is correct.

You're very smart. I didn't misjudge you.

Master Di, the Mistress is my savior.

I'm very sorry. I can't help you with anything on her birthday ceremony.

What about your parents?

You rejected me because of Xiao Zhi.

But your parents have been hiding because of the debt.

Don't you wonder where they are

and if they're eating or living well?

If you agree to do the task

I'll forget about the NT$56,000,000 debt.

I'm sorry, Master Di.

It's NT$55,556,789.

You were just trying to look cool by paying in excess.

Fine. Even if it's NT$55,556,789 I wouldn't ask you to return it.

Your parents can also be with you again.

You won't have to be a butler anymore.

Your family will be reunited.

Master Di, may I ask

what do you want me to do during the birthday ceremony?

During the ceremony, the Royal Jade will be passed down.

Master, it's getting windier.

Do you want to rest inside?

- Ke Lao Fu. - Yes?

San Qian Yuan family had many generations already, right?

Yes, Master. It's been a long time.

Let's end the tradition of passing the Royal Jade at my generation.

I'm tired that San Qian Yuan's heirs are all stuck fighting

for the Royal Jade because of the greed of the world.

Master, are you thinking of Miss Jing again?

Of course I'd miss my daughter.

I think Miss Xiao Zhi is looking more like Ms. Jing everyday.

Really?

Master.

I don't think you need to ask Xiao Sa to do it.

Why don't you just directly tell Miss Xiao Zhi?

Perhaps she would understand.

I forgot how long I haven't spoken to Xiao Zhi.

I just hope that Xiao Sa can successfully accomplish

the mission I gave him for the ceremony.

Wu Wen Vocational School?

Isn't this the school I used to go to?

After my parents ran away

I quit school.

Why did I walk here subconsciously?

Xiao Sa, you're finally attending classes again.

- I already quit school. - Quit?

But I saw your dad here looking for you today.

- My dad? - Yes.

Xiao Sa, you're back!

Dad, Mom, you're back!

My filial son, because you cleared the debt

we're able to come back.

I cleared the debt?

Xiao Sa, you're the best.

I bought a real cake to celebrate.

It's real!

Thanks!

I feel dizzy.

Stop spinning.

Stop spinning.

- Xiao Sa said he feels dizzy. - Stop spinning.

I think he got the cold.

Is it because Young Master Ju Xuan kicked him into the lake?

What? Ju Xuan kicked Xiao Sa into the lake?

Despicable. No wonder he left today.

I'll get him next time.

I better go get the doctor to take a look at Xiao Sa.

If you hold someone's hand while you've the cold

you'll get better faster.

Mistress, the doctor is coming in.

Why were you so slow? It's annoying to take care of an ill person.

Doctor, here.

Xiao Sa would want to eat when he wakes up later.

He has the common cold.

He'll be fine after drinking more water and resting.

- Okay. Thank you. - Miss Maria, I'll be leaving then.

Thanks.

Do you want to drink water?

No, thanks.

Maria, have you been taking care of me?

While I was dreaming

I felt a pair of warm hands

- holding my hands. - Very warm hands?

You must have been dreaming.

Maria, thank you.

In the past, when I was sick no one took much care of me.

Thank you.

It's just porridge.

It's just rice and water.

It shouldn't be hard.

Even though I've never been in the kitchen

this won't be too hard for me.

But this looks too simple.

How would he get enough nutrition eating just porridge?

I should add some seasoning.

This smells good. It has the scent of tangerine.

I'll just add some.

It smells really good.

Mistress, this is the porridge you made for me?

Watch what you say.

I didn't cook for you.

I just wanted to try something new.

I didn't put much effort into it. You don't have to eat it.

Mistress.

This is your first time cooking, right?

The porridge you made looks good.

Of course.

Just because I don't do something often doesn't mean I can't.

Thank you, Mistress. I'm going to eat then.

Xiao Sa, what's wrong?

I need to go to the restroom.

What happened?

Mistress, what did you put in the porridge?

A pretty bottle with good smelling tangerine-scented seasoning.

Tangerine-scented?

Mistress, did you put dish soap in it?

Dish soap?

Dish soap smells like tangerine?

What do you want me to do during the birthday ceremony?

It's very simple.

During the ceremony the royal jade will be passed down.

I want you to break the royal jade during the ceremony.

- You want me to break the Royal Jade? - That's right.

This is a secret between the two of us.

Xiao Zhi must not know about this.

Mistress, why are you alone in the kitchen?

Maria, I'm useless.

I can't tell the difference between seasoning and dish soap.

Will Xiao Sa hate me?

Mistress, don't worry.

Xiao Sa won't hate you because of this.

It's very late. Tomorrow is the passing of the Royal Jade.

You should rest soon.

Maria, do you know what I was most scared of after my mom passed away?

I can remember her face with photographs.

I can hear her voice repeatedly through files on the computer.

But I was most afraid

that I'd forget her warmth.

The warmth I felt when my mom held me

is disappearing from my memories quickly.

Mistress.

Maria.

Mom always had the royal jade with her, right?

Yes, Mistress.

So whenever I touch the Royal Jade

I would feel my mom's warmth.

So I must get the Royal Jade.

No matter how dangerous it is to inherit the Royal Jade

I must get it.

When Mom passed away

I no longer have any family.

The Royal Jade has my mom's warmth.

It is the most precious gift.

Mistress, you still have Master Di.

I hate Grandpa the most.

I hate the Grandpa that goes abroad, leaves me here, and never visits me.

I hate him the most.

You shouldn't think that way.

Am I wrong?

He hates me, so I hate him.

He doesn't want to see me, so I don't want to see him.

What's wrong with that?

If I wasn't inheriting the Royal Jade tomorrow he wouldn't be here.

He doesn't want to see me at all.

I didn't know that the Royal Jade meant that much to the Mistress.

Am I really going to destroy it?

What should I do?

Master Di, we've arranged the ceremony for the passing of the Royal Jade.

I hope he doesn't disappoint me today.

Welcome the Royal Jade.

Place the Royal Jade.

Hello, Master Di.

Hello, Grandpa.

Ju Xuan, long time no see.

Xiao Zhi.

We also haven't seen each other in a long time.

It's fine. You left me here since I was six.

We haven't seen each other for only twelve years.

Really?

You're looking more and more like Jing.

Jing, don't stay up too late drawing.

Thanks, Dad.

I'm sorry, Xiao Zhi.

You look too much like Jing.

I can't see you every day without thinking about her.

It has been hard on you this past decade.

Is it starting?

- Ke Lao Fu. - Yes?

Present the Royal Jade.

This is the Royal Jade?

This is the Royal Jade that Mom left for me.

Mom's Royal Jade.

Let's begin the ceremony.

Last event.

San Qian Yuan's current head of the household

San Qian Yuan Di

will place the royal jade that symbolizes

San Qian Yuan's power

on the heiress, San Qian Yuan Zhi.

No!

I don't want you to put it on me.

Xiao Zhi, are you joking?

I'm your only family member left.

I should be the one putting it on you.

I don't want you to do it.

What if I get Ju Xuan to put it on you?

- That should be fine, right? - No.

Xiao Zhi.

He is your new butler, right?

That's right.

Then let him do it.

I'll give him the Royal Jade

and he'll give it to you.

He's the butler you found

so this should be fine, right?

- Ling Qi Sa. - Present.

Come get the Royal Jade.

Xiao Sa, don't be nervous.

Just put the Royal Jade on the Mistress.

You want me to destroy the Royal Jade?

That's right.

Please raise the Royal Jade.

Welcome the heiress.

If I want to destroy the Royal Jade

this is the perfect time to do it.

The Royal Jade has Mom's warmth.

No matter how dangerous it is to inherit the Royal Jade

I must have it.

If you do this task for me

I'll forget about the NT$56,000,000 debt.

Destroy the Royal Jade.

- I must have it. - Destroy the Royal Jade.

Master Di.

I can't destroy the Royal Jade.

Xiao Sa, what are you saying?

You want to destroy the Royal Jade?

Why are you destroying the Royal Jade?

I told him to do that.

Why? Why did you do that?

Is that why Master Di paid off Xiao Sa's debt?

That's right.

I agreed to pay off his debt because I wanted him

to destroy the Royal Jade during the ceremony.

Xiao Sa.

Is that true?

Mistress, I'm sorry.

Ling Qi Sa, you rather be separated from your parents

and have to pay off a huge sum of debt

than betraying your Mistress?

Master Di, the prime duty of a butler is

to protect everything the Mistress

deems important.

So...

Even though you helped me clear my debt

I cannot betray the Mistress.

I, Ling Qi Sa

cannot betray San Qian Yuan Zhi.

Xiao Sa.

Looks like Xiao Zhi found a good butler.

Master Di, were you using this situation to test Xiao Sa's loyalty to the Mistress?

I wanted to stop the trouble the Royal Jade brings.

This is an unexpected gain.

With a martial art prodigy beside Xiao Zhi

I'm not scared that people who want the Royal Jade will hurt Xiao Zhi.

Yes.

Master Di, please wait.

The Mistress has a request that

she hopes you'll agree to.

May the Mistress help Xiao Sa pay off the debt?

I hope to see the money in my account when I arrive in France.

Thank you, Master Di.

Royal jade.

This is the powerful royal jade everyone is fighting for.

Ling Qi Sa.

It seems like you're going to be a big obstacle

in my plan to steal the Royal Jade.

Mistress, are you sure you want to do that?

Didn't you say you wanted to protect what I deem important

and that you would never betray me?

Yes.

If that's so

then I'll let you protect the important Royal Jade.

What's wrong with that?

Mistress, you trust me so much.

Mistress, don't worry.

I promise I'll protect the Royal Jade with my life.

I'd have to keep the Royal Jade on me.

I need to ask Maria to sew a hidden pocket.

Xiao Sa, this butler uniform fits you well.

Maria helped me adjust it.

You don't have to go ask Maria.

I know how to sew a hidden pocket.

Mistress, let me sew it.

No need. I'm almost done.

Mistress, let me do it.

It's fine.

- Your finger! - It's okay.

It's just a small injury.

Who said it's okay? Let me put medication on it.

Mistress, you don't have to wrap it up like this.

It's not bad for my first time.

Thank you.

Why are you thanking me? You're hurt because of me.

I want to say...

So...

So...

It's too hard for me to say sorry.

But I injured Xiao Sa's finger

and after wrapping it, it looks like ET's finger.

ET?

What are you talking about?

Sorry?

I don't have many memories of Mom.

I remembered that when I was little

whenever I couldn't sleep

Mom would play the same movie and hug me.

She would watch the movie with me until I fell asleep.

The main character of the movie is a very cute ET.

It communicates with humans through this gesture.

So I did guess right.

You wanted to say 'sorry' to me.

Now, please protect my Royal Jade.

Mistress, I'll keep the royal jade close to my heart.

As long as my heart is still beating

I'll protect it with my life.

Of course. Don't forget.

I'm your only creditor.

Until you pay off your debt

you have to stay by my side

and protect my Royal Jade with your life.

Yes, Mistress.

This is ridiculous. You only know that

Ling Qi Sa is poor, abandoned by his parents, and has a NT$56,000,000 debt

You didn't ask him anything else and let him be Xiao Zhi's butler.

Xiao Sa passed the test that Head Butler Ke and I designed.

So? Xiao Zhi's previous butler, Ji Shen graduated

from the top butler training school.

He has all the licenses WBL offers.

He's number one out of the world's top ten butlers.

I thought that to work for San Qian Yuan, you need some those qualifications.

In the past, I thought so too. But after meeting Xiao Sa, my thought changed.

Looks like Xiao Zhi and Maria really trust Ling Qi Sa.

Why? What is so great about him?

Ju Xuan, you should go home.

I'll leave when I'm done.

What's more pointless than kicking someone into the lake?

- Ling Qi Sa. - Yes, Master Ju Xuan?

Duel with me!

Xiao Sa, do you still remember me?

You are... Gui Chu Ju?

I must deliver this lunch safely to the Mistress.

You can only enter this school if I die.

There are suspicious men in black in the school?

Maria thinks Xiao Zhi was kidnapped.

If you don't tell us where the Royal Jade is hidden

- you'll never see her again! - Mistress!
