we've ever built.

We raised the compression of the motor,

we've rebuilt the chassis, the steering,

put bigger wheels and tires.

We couldn't be happier about it.

It sits right, it looks like, and it's fast.

Rawlings: I went into the model "a,"

thinking I was gonna throw 10 extra grand at it.

You know, I had to get the motor, the transmission,

aaron had to have 18-inch wheels and tires,

had to put in new glass -- twice -- 'cause of my mess-up.

The bottom line -- I got to get at least 20 grand for this car

to pay the bills and put some money in the bank.

So here we are. The good guys swap meets are awesome.

I mean, it's texas motor speedway.

This is all what it's all about right here.

It's been a trying week. It's been rough.

We're really fired up to be here.

We did a great job on this car. It was crunch time all week.

It was just crazy going every day, every night.

I've got to sell it. I've got to free up that cash.

If I don't keep that shop open, keep those guys paid,

I don't have a business.

I think there's probably someone here today

that has to have that car.

So all we got to do is cruise it around a little bit,

let them see it.

I think someone's gonna let us know

Bottom line is, I've got a number in my head.

I'm not taking a dime less than that.

When I seen the model "a," the way the car was constructed,

you know -- it still has all of its originally to it,

but it has an upgraded breaking system, steering system --

all the things that were kind of poor quality on those cars

back in the day.

What kind of intake and carburetor is that?

Well, it's a little stromberg.

It's like a stock unit off of a flathead v8.

It's something I've been looking for for a long time.

I can't believe I just crossed that path,

you know, right at the right time.

Man, it purrs like a kitten, doesn't it?

He's like, "man, this thing is bad-ass!"

scott: I was enjoying every minute of it.

It was hilarious.

I mean, it was the ultimate ride that I've had.

And, I mean, that sold me right there on the car.

I was done.

What'd you think about that? Oh, man, richard.

Wow. This is incredible.

It was just incredible.

I mean, the safety of the vehicle that's been into it

in the restoration, it's outstanding.

How about I'll give you $18,000 for it today right here?

And you know what's gonna happen.

We're gonna settle at $21,000, so that's my number -- 21 grand.

on an asphalt road. And everybody knows,

you know, when you on the asphalt road,

most times whoever's got the most street sense

is going to win.

On this year, we're in wyoming on a concrete road.

It's way more forgiving.

You can just throw horsepower, horsepower, horsepower.

I ain't got to tell you what you can do.

You've been watching all these no prep king cars.

Y'all have seen them. What are they running?

160, 170 out the back door. They flying.

They're flying out the back door,

you know what I'm saying? So, you know,

I ain't making no excuses. I think we can beat them.

But we don't got no room for error.

We got to cross every t, dot every I,

and we got to be on each other's side

through the bittersweet end.

If we mess up one time, it can cost us dearly.

This is to see who's the fastest in america on the street.

I want to beat them.

We started out here in wyoming

with 12 teams battling it out

and the winner is going to face off against memphis

for a hundred thousand dollars.

Now for the second year in a row,

nola is the last team standing.

last year, nola beat out three other teams.

and earned the right to take on memphis

for the hundred thousand dollars.

I don't know how we could do any better

than we're doing right now.

They showed they was fast

and they knew how to work together as a team

and get a win in all conditions.

That's what your tire's touching.

You don't have a flat surface to bond to.

J.J.: In the final matchup in vegas,

it was a close race against nola and memphis.

-Whoo! -Hell, yeah!

But when it was all said and done, memphis took the win...

But now, if I sit and tell y'all this is going to be easy,

I'd be telling you a bold-faced lie.

Relic almost blanked them.

Then they turn around and 8-1 black sheep mafia.

Everybody they race, they've 8-1'd them,

completely just murdered them, you know what I'm saying?

So you can better believe they don't like that

whooping we put on them last year.

And I don't even gotta tell y'all what all cars they got,

y'all see it.

They got the john doe. They got the track doe.

They got the brand-new shocker. They got the old shocker.

They got 18 wheelers with trailers,

you know, as long as our houses.

Can't say enough about the new additions to our crew,

I mean, daniel come out and beat the --

gapped the leader of black sheep mafia.

Lizzy drove the wheels off of her car.

Adam went from tuning my cars to driving shocker,

like, better than me, so, I mean, I just don't know --

couldn't have replaced brent self and adam

with nobody better. I know without a doubt

that every car we got's faster than every car they got.

Nola's been out here racing for weeks,

going up against everybody, getting all the data they can

and figuring this road out.

And I feel like it's going to be a disadvantage for mso

because we don't got much data on the road.

Every pass they raced and beat buster,

that goes against us.

Every pass that they raced and beat northeast,

that goes against memphis.

Every pass they win against black sheep mafia

and won, that goes memphis.

But with that being said, hey, that's a disadvantage for us.

But we ain't making no excuses.

I feel like we as strong as they are.

And I don't feel like they nowhere near

as street as we are. No. No.

They got a rhythm that they've been doing.

Here's what I've been watching. Every time -- you watch --

scott taylor been coming out of that john doe,

and then they back it up

with -- what's his name -- spears in the mustang.

And noticeably most of the time they come out --

kye kelley comes out in the fifth area.

Lizzy comes out in the sixth and seventh.

And I wouldn't be scared to say

the bird brothers are going to be in the fourth.

Bobby, probably. You know, I feel like he's a wild card.

We'll play it by ear as the night goes.

We're going to have to see how they're acting.

I think we need to go ahead and bring it.

They gonna bring it.

Nola's whole team has got way more fancier

high-class, high powered cars,

and they make a ton of more horsepower

than our normal, average, everyday street racing cars

that we race for memphis.

The good thing that memphis has got going for 'em,

I always say that the street is the equalizer.

If there's one thing in the world that memphis can do

as a crew and a whole is street race,

each and every one of us know how to get to a finish line

when it comes to street racing.

But if we win tonight, it's not going to come easy

because you can guarantee nola's gonna push us to our limits.

Yes, it's a concrete street and we gonna have to

ring the necks of these little motors.

We're gonna have to throw everything we got at them.

We can't leave nothing on the table

from right here to the finish line.

I dropped my arms, and my mechanic, anthony smith,

made a great pass in that bucket of bolts.

He out-60-footed lizzy and that big old motor

and never checked up.

He went to the finish line and got a win.

We've seen lizzy. She's been struggling

with that big old motor in that car

since this street racing started.

I thought she had a handle on it and got a grip on it,

but it seems like it came back and bitter in the tail.

It didn't look so good.

I'm super proud of my guy anthony,

but the night's a long ways from being over.

That sucker picked that front end and left,

This kind of race when you're racing as a team

is completely different than racing individually.

90% of this race is figuring out what order

do you need to put your racer in and figuring out

what order the next team is gonna put their racer in.

Because you could put a person in first,

and he could go against the other guy first

and he could lose, whether you could put him in fifth,

he might've could've beat the fifth guy.

So not only does it count for one win,

it could count for two losses.

I know if I was kye and the leader of nola

and I was behind,

it seems like every one of them's lost their steam,

I would try to figure out who I felt like was the most reliable

and who could put the fastest pass down,

and that's who I would bring out first

and try to change this whole thing around.

I hope that me and my family's got what it takes to beat nola

because one strike of bad luck or one little change

could cause everything to go the opposite way.

And you can believe that if nola gets ahead,

they're a completely different team.
