Young Blood

Episode 39

I didn’t know you could unlock it.

Learnt it from Yuan Zhongxin.

[To Mr. Miqin]

Found it?

[General Miqin Mubei, we’d like to give you Song’s deployment diagram so that the war will end soon and people will get back to peace.]

How shall we deal with it?

Take it back and ask Zhao Jian.

Anyway, we can’t have Yuan Boqi have it.

Why?

I’m afraid he’ll make a big mistake.

What big mistake?

Are you afraid

I’ll kill someone after reading it?

Yuan Boqi.

We will

justly deal with the letter.

Don’t bother.

Yuan Boqi!

Are you okay? Go!

But…

What’s wrong?

Did Yuan Boqi find you?

He tied you up?

He realized we were lying to him.

But how?

The shoes.

It rained last night.

The mud stain is new.

It means you went out.

So, you can’t have been poisoned.

I was too careless.

How was it going?

Your brother found us

and tried to snatch the letter.

When we fought, the letter fell into the stove

and was burnt.

He believed that?

He didn’t argue for the moment.

This is the real letter.

The fake one was burnt.

That was good, Wang Kuan.

You acted better.

Where is my brother?

Gone.

He looked depressed.

Nine thousand soldiers were killed, anyway.

He always wants to know the truth.

What should we do next?

Mozang Baoli was telling the truth.

Zhou Xuan betrayed his nation?

Could the letter be fake?

The lines are real.

So is the official seal.

Luckily, Yuan Zhongxin asked

Wang Kuan and me to prepare a fake letter

and ruin it in front of Yuan Boqi

to cheat him.

He wouldn’t be cheated for long.

What do you mean?

The plan only works for a while.

My brother isn’t an idiot.

He’ll soon realize after thinking about it carefully.

Will he come and snatch the letter?

Sure.

Then give it to him.

Zhou Xuan betrayed his nation.

He should be punished.

I fear my brother will kill him directly,

regardless of laws.

What should we do?

Shall we

go to see the magistrate with the letter

and keep Zhou Xuan under control?

No!

Why?

The magistrate is a friend of Zhou Xuan’s.

What if they collude with each other?

You make sense.

If we were in Kaifeng,

we could have asked Dean Lu for help.

Yeah.

Ask him for help.

Secret Repository was shut down.

But Dean Lu still works at the Privy Council.

I think he can help.

Okay.

I’m going right away.

You can’t go.

Why?

What if my brother knows you’re leaving the city,

and tracks you down?

What should we do?

None of us can send the letter.

But Zhou Xuan is the Deputy Commander.

We can’t even trust the military forces.

Who else in Binzhou

can help us?

Where’s Wang Kuan?

Went to meet the messenger.

You want me to go back to Kaifeng?

But why?

You’ll know

when you reach the mansion of Prince Zhao.

But before you go,

I have something to tell you.

We want you to do us a big favor.

If you don’t want to help,

you can refuse us.

How big?

It concerns our country

and the safety of our people.

Okay.

I’ll go.

Aren’t you afraid of danger?

I kind of know you guys.

If it weren’t for something urgent,

you wouldn’t have asked me for help.

Thank you!

Say no more.

Tell me.

What do you want me to do?

You want Liang Zhu to send the letter?

He’s waiting out of the city.

His younger brother died in that battle.

He’s as urgent as us

to figure out the traitor.

So

he won’t collude with Zhou Xuan.

Besides,

he has great marital arts.

He won’t be stopped on the way.

You’re right.

It Instructor Liang leaves,

your brother won’t care.

We snatched the letter anyway.

He is clear.

Why hasn’t he come to get the letter?

He doesn’t want to come

when he knows you’re in.

He said he wouldn’t be happy

if he saw you.

I don’t want to see him, either!

Besides,

what if your brother keeps an eye on us?

Instructor Liang will leave in a safer way,

if he doesn’t meet us.

Okay.

Please tell him that

he must go back to Kaifeng

and give the letter to Dean Lu.

At such a critical moment,

I’ll ask him to leave right away.

By the way,

ask him to watch out for my brother.

I’ll remind him.

Don’t worry.

I’ll go.

The books have been removed.

Someone broke in.

Zhou Xuan’s letter is gone.

I’ll go check it!

Wait.

Don’t bother.

Isn’t that obvious?

Mozang Baoli?

He took it?

It doesn’t make sense.

If he wanted it,

he would have stolen it in Xia.

Maybe some Song people

knew about the deployment diagram.

How come?

Even though,

he has no reason to help them.

If I were him,

I would do it, too.

Why?

If the thief believes,

Mozang Baoli

can persuade him to assassinate me

while he won’t be involved.

It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t believe Mozang Baoli.

It’s my fault to have lost the letter.

If he wants to complain about that,

I can’t explain.

Mozang Baoli will win, anyway.

General.

What are you laughing at?

Don’t you worry?

About what?

It’s fun, isn’t it?

The game has started.

I must play it.

Go get prepared.

We can’t let Qin Wuya die in vain.

Giddyap!

Giddyap!

Giddyap!

Giddyap!

I got it.

Here.

Stand straight.

Stand steadily.

Get ready.

Keep your spine straight.

Straight!

Keep your spear still!

Put strength in your arms.

Stand still!

Raise the spearhead!

Stand straight!

We can’t make a decision

before Dean Lu comes.

What we should do now

is to keep an eye on Mr. Zhou

in case he’s in danger.

What if your brother can’t bear it

and fight him?

I’ll keep an eye on my brother.

If he wants to kill Zhou Xuan,

he has to kill me first.

Yuan Zhongxin.

Don’t worry.

I know how far to go!

Since when did you know?

Give me the spear.

You!

Attack me.

Look around!

Strike by surprise.

Bravo! Bravo!

I was less defensive on the left.

You could have got away.

General.

You just wanted to win.

So, you didn’t care for your own life.

As a soldier,

you should be brave.

But you should also stay alive.

Only when you’re alive

can you protect your country.

Got it?

Could someone like him really betray his nation?

No idea.

He’s a civil official.

But in the frontier,

many soldiers think highly of him.

His case is still suspicious.

Let’s wait.

Anyway, Dean Lu knows him the best.

Your brother?

General Yuan.

General Yuan.

What’s wrong?

In the battle of Qichuan village,

I was wearing this armor.

The death anniversary for soldiers

died in Qichuan village is coming.

Three years has passed.

You still remember them?

Sure, I do.

General Yuan.

You don’t look well.

Are you sick?

I come to fight you.

I give up.

You’re the God of War in the frontier.

I can’t defeat you.

You’re… You’re serious?

Just practicing!

All right.

But…

Make secret concessions

so that I won’t be humiliated greatly.

Here you go?

Dudes.

How dare you laugh at me!

We can’t expose ourselves.

I lose. I lose.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

You…

What…

What do you want?

General!

What do you really want?

Forget it.

Your brother was really trying to kill Mr. Zhou.

He attacked harshly,

with a killing intent.

But why did he suddenly stop?

Pigeons!

Carrier pigeons?

That’s a signal.

Should we follow up

and see where he is going?

No.

Just follow the pigeons.

Over there.

The pigeons are kept here.

There you are.

Seems like no one lives here for long.

Did we get the wrong way?

If no one lives here,

who is raising the pigeons?

The maize was just put in.

No one is around.

There must be something fishy.

Ask vendors around

if they saw

anyone coming in.

Let’s go separately.

We’ll stand a better chance.

Okay.

General Yuan.

This is the fresh osmanthus wine.

Just heated.

It has the smell of flower.

Have a try.

You sent the pigeons?

I heard that

you fought in the camp.

I was worried.

If you were too angry

to kill Zhou Xuan in public,

you would have had insubordination.

How could I watch you do that?

Why would I kill Zhou Xuan

without a reason?

What a pity!

Why would you want to kill Zhou Xuan?

Because you had

the secret letter.

Because you knew

Zhou Xuan betrayed you

in the battle of Qichuan village.

Because you wanted to kill him

for the soldiers died in that battle.

You admit the letter is real?

You took the letter.

Why should I still deny?

Zhao Xuan

is your informer in Song?

No. No. No.

He’s a partner, at most.

My informer in Song

is you.

Yuan Boqi.

Did you see anyone going into that house?

No.

Thank you.

Excuse me.

Did you see anyone going into that house?

No.

Thank you.

Sir.

Did you see anyone

going into the house?

No.

We’ve been cooperating for years.

You helped me a lot.

This

is a toast to you.

Qin Wuya worked for you, too?

Why did you ask?

We’d better be defeated by a tiger

than be swallowed by a fox.

You asked me

to say this in front of him.

And then he committed suicide.

This is

a proverb in Xia.

And the code I gave him.

When he heard this,

he knew

it was time to committed suicide.

When Qin Wuya disrupted the market,

he even ignored his own son’s life.

With what did you ask him to kill himself?

With loyalty.

Do you think only Song people

are loyal?

You asked Qin Wuya

to disturb the mutual trade?

You want to start a war between Song and Xia?

The plan failed, anyway.

He was dead.

What does it help

when you ask now?

Then why do you bring me here?

To stop me from killing Zhou Xuan?

You can kill Zhou Xuan.

But not now

and not here.

Do you want to kill Zhou Xuan

so that you’ll console the dead soldiers?

Drink it

and I’ll help you.

I asked around.

No one lives here for long.

And no one knows who raises the pigeons.

The same with me.

The pigeon keeper is cautious.

No one saw him.

Shall we wait here?

He’ll come back, anyway.

Where’s Yuan Zhongxin?

Still asking around, I guess.

He’s been out of sight.

Where has he gone?

Why are you here?

I saw you fighting with Zhou Xuan

in the camp.

For practicing.

You had meant to kill him?

You got me wrong.

So, you had the letter.

Who gave it to you?

You’re waiting for me,

just to ask about this?

When you saw the pigeons,

you stopped

and left the camp.

What does it concern the pigeons?

I tracked down to where the pigeons were raised.

But I didn’t see the pigeon keeper.

I don’t know what you’re talking about.

I sent away Zhao Jian and Xue Ying.

And I went to the hostel

where Miqin Mubei lived alone.

What a coincidence!

He wasn’t there, either.

So what?

You went to see him?

Miqin Mubei

chief culprit of the battle of Qichuan village.

I want to kill him!

How would I meet him?

Brother.

I knew

you contacted Xia people secretly.

How did I know it?

When you just came back from the battlefield,

you were alive.

But you looked as if you were dead.

I was worried about you.

So, I had been stalking you.

I checked the patterns on the pass.

Special pattern of Xia troops.

Why didn’t you ask me then?

What should I ask?

Did you betray our nation

to keep yourself alive?

What if I did?

I don’t care at all.

You’re my brother.

My only family in this world.

I’ll support you whatever you do.

I joined Secret Repository

just because of this.

Because I was afraid

people would track down to you.

When I worked in Secret Repository,

maybe I could help you

and save you.

I didn’t know

you did so much for me.

So, how exactly did you survive that battle?

Miqin Mubei

let me go.

On what condition?

I should listen to him.

Be his informer in Song

and be his killer.

You met him in the prison camp.

I got him

to the prison camp.

So, you assassinated him

to put on a show for us?

In case people would see me through.

There’s something I don’t understand.

Loyal as you are,

you shouldn’t have been afraid of death.

I was badly wounded in the battle.

Miqin Mubei

saved me from the battlefield

and had me cured.

I was trying to commit suicide.

Before I made it,

he told me something.

You want to die?

No longer want to avenge your soldiers?

What do you mean?

Someone betrayed you.

We ended the war soon,

because we had the deployment diagram before.

You’re lying!

No way!

No way!

No way!

Read it yourself.

[Deployment Diagram of Song Frontier Army]

I chose to stay alive.

Miqin Mubei set me free

so that I could find out the traitor.

I must find him myself

and kill him

to avenge dead soldiers.

As long as I can do that,

I don’t mind being humiliated.

Then you’ve been checking up until now?

Miqin Mubei is clever.

He knows

I’ll no longer listen to him

when I find the traitor.

So, he hides the clues carefully.

So, you kidnapped Mozang Baoli

to find out the truth?

If someone gave them the route,

he must be a high level official.

Miqin Mubei can’t be the only one

who knows.

And Mozang Baoli

is the political opponent of Miqin Mubei

and a high-level official.

He would certainly tell me.

So…

You had a plan already?

Someone assassinated Xia merchants to start a war.

Were you involved?

It was an important thing.

Miqin wouldn’t tell me.

If I knew,

I would have stopped him.

Since you know I had the secret letter,

I’m telling you my decision.

I will kill Zhou Xuan.

Don’t try to persuade me

or stop me.

This is what supports me to live.

I’ll help you.

I’ll help you to kill Zhou Xuan

and let someone else to take the blame

instead of you.

Do you know what you are talking about?

Like I said,

I’ll always support you.

Where’s Xue Ying?

What’s wrong?

Where have you been?

Can you steal your father’s seal?

What for?

And his handwriting.

How much can you imitate it?

Yuan Zhongxin.

What the hell do you want?

I want to meet Zhou Xuan.

But the camp is heavily guarded.

Without the letter from your father,

I don’t think he wants to see me.

Prince Zhao wants to see us?

I just received a letter that

he would like to meet us alone.

Not in his mansion,

but an unknown small yard.

I don’t know what he wants.

Since he wants to meet us alone,

why must we bring soldiers?

I’m worried

if Prince Zhao has something important to tell us.

I’ll ask the soldiers to stay alert

in case someone may break in.

It’s so considerate of you.

I really admire you.

You flatter me.

We’re partners.

Don’t stand on ceremony.

I still have something to say.

What?

Yesterday,

I fought you too hard.

My apologies.

It doesn’t matter.

It happens in a fight.

You just showed them

how powerful the God of War really is!

Just to cheer them up!

God of War?

You know what?

I saved no one in that battle.

You should

get out of the past.

Live a strong life,

and that’s what they want the most!

Soon.

After the last thing,

everything will come to an end.

What is it?

The sacrifice.

Sacrifice?

Yeah.

The sacrifice for soldiers died in Qichuan village is coming.

We should offer sacrifices to them.

Shall we hold it in the camp?

Qichuan village will be the best place.

Offering sacrifices in the battlefield

could be sincere enough

to those dead soldiers.

I’m glad it’s so thoughtful of you.

Okay, then.

As you wish.

What sacrificial offerings do we need?

Sacrificial offerings?

I had one.

But I hope

you can help with something else.

At your service.

Our soldiers respect you!

If possible,

I want you to host the ceremony.

Even if you don’t ask me,

I will go.

Thank you, for my soldiers.

They’re my soldiers, too.

The yard is right ahead.

Let’s go.

Doomed.

Someone was killed!

My Lord.

Stay here.

I’ll go catch the murderer.

Okay, then.

Come with me.

Go and check

if she’s still alive.

Yes.

Hurry. Stop!

Stop! Stop!

Who are you?

Come and surrender!

This is my territory.

Pay me.

Take him down!

My Lord, she’ll still alive.

Great!

Find the nearest clinic

and take her there.

Princess?

Get in the room

and check if Prince Zhao is there.

Can you hear me, Princess?

Is Prince Zhao in the room?

Get in!

Be careful!

I didn’t expect Zhou Xuan

to bring soldiers with him.

It’s okay.

Someone will take care of that.

Someone helps you

with this?

What’s going on in the room?

Answer me!

Princess.

You’re awake?

There you are, Mr. Zhou.

Who attacked you?

Where is Prince Zhao?

How do you feel?

It’s…

a long story.

This is a weird place.

I’ll take you away.

Wash your hands.

It’s pig blood,

but still sticks.

How was it going in the room?

The trap and stick were ready.

Xue Ying helped

to knock them down.

Take Mr. Zhou away.

They’re helping you?

I can’t take care of it alone.

Why do they help

with such a crime?

I told them

there was valid evidence that

Zhou Xuan colluded with the enemy

and the Privy Council asked us to catch him secretly.

You…

You lied to them?

Or they wouldn’t have helped.

Ridiculous!

It’s a felony!

Aren’t you incriminating them?

We have no other option.

Or you would have been in trouble.

I choose the lesser of two evils.

I must help you.

No way.

They’re still young.

You can’t get them to hell!

It’s too late!

I think

they have caught Zhou Xuan

and are coming to us.

Giddyap!

In this way,

Zhao Jian and the others

will be blamed for that.

You won’t be involved at all.

Even if Zhou Xuan dies,

you can stay out of this.

That’s how you treat your friends?

Which do you think matters more,

friends or my brother?

It’s my own business.

You don’t need to help.

If I don’t help,

you will die

even if you manage to kill Zhou Xuan.

Yuan Zhongxin.

You have stayed in Secret Repository for long.

Why are you still so merciless?

Are you really going to get them killed?

Zhao Jian is the princess.

Wei Yuan is the son of a grand commandant.

Lu Guannian will defend them at last.

They won’t be killed.

But you betrayed their trust on you.

I’m helping you!

We got Zhou Xuan.

I didn’t expect the Privy Council

would let us handle

such an important mission.

Could he…

be in a critical case?

Or can we…

go back to Secret Repository?

I was just notified.

I don’t know much about the details.

If it’s true,

Dean Lu must be happy.

I wonder if he has come.

Zhou Xuan saw you?

Yes.

But it’s okay.

I was ordered to catch him.

What’s wrong?

Is he in the cart?

I knocked him out.

You may leave!

Leave?

I’ll take care of this.

You’ll be no longer involved.

Is it also an order from the Privy Council?

We just catch him

and can no longer

take part in it?

Don’t ask me.

My brother handles the secret order.

There’s no secret order!

No?

Then why were we asked to catch him?

Enough!

What you did today…

Put the blame on me.

Stay out of this!

What’s going on, Yuan Zhongxin?

Just leave!

I’ll take him away.

It’s stupefying smoke.

Have some sleep.

You…
