Then I have to hear
from my sister

that she doesn't want me

Before we talked,
I had the suspicion

that she tried to play
the victim

and portray me
as the bad guy.

I just answered the question
that Fred posed to me.

I'm just disappointed.

What did I do wrong?

That's not what this is about.
Don't play the victim.

It really hurts me.

We started together,
and now you do this to me.

I'm not sure if she's being
true with her emotions,

because I've seen Abby
take things too personally

in this competition.

Why is that?

Sometimes I feel like
I can't let myself down.

I've had that feeling
ever since I was a child.

I just want to be myself.

That means being gay
and dressing up,

using make-up.

Did your parents see this?
What was that process like?

They hated it.

- How did they express that?
- I had to leave immediately.

That's where
that feeling came from.

I can see my old struggles...

- [Nikkie] I get that.
- [Fred] In this race.

In this race, yes.

You don't want to be addressed
as a man or a woman, but as...?

As a human being.

I want to surround myself
with people

who don't define me by my gender
but by the energy I give.

I always like to see
how other people see me.

- I identify as a human being.
- Yeah.

Do you have to fight for that?

The world can be cruel,
and sometimes it strikes me that

I come home from a gig
and I feel fabulous,

but two seconds later, people
look at me as if I'm crazy.

That's hard.

I always think that I'm not
the one who's in prison.

People seem to think

that I'm on this eternal quest
for myself.

But I look around me and think

there are so many people
who are limiting themselves

to social rules
or societal expectations.

I've released myself completely
from all those things,

and I love my life.

What's your favorite realization
in the world?

I love it when people are
unapologetically themselves.

The bad part is that,

although we don't want to label
ourselves, we actually do.

Do you do it?

I try to do it less and less,

because I'm always conscious
that I'm not perfect now,

and I'm never going to be,

but I always want to be
the best version of myself.

But it happens subconsciously.

The other queens
think you're bitchy.

Could that be a sort of shield
against an insecurity?

I'm not an insecure person,

but it is a type of wall
to prevent people

from getting too close,
too quickly.

Your coming out, when was that?

It was later in life.

These days, people come out
when they're 14 or so.

I was 21.

No! Why so late?

For a very long time, I suffered
from an inner homophobia.

I just couldn't accept that
I was attracted to men.

- But you knew?
- Of course I did.

But I repressed it for so long,

and I had preconceived notions
about the whole gay scene.

I thought I didn't want to be
a part of that.

And, finally, I couldn't
take it anymore,

so I came out.

- [Fred] Yeah.
- And two months later,

I had my first boyfriend.
[laughs]

You look quite confident.
Do you have any insecurities?

Absolutely, I do,
but I keep those hidden.

That's very cliché,

but it's also something
that keeps me focused,

and there's always
room to grow.

If you could call someone

to tell them
you're in the finale...

- My dad.
- And what would you tell him?

That I've achieved something
I've dreamed about for a while,

that I love him and I wish
he could be here with me.

and that he can be
very proud of me.

I thought the wig looked dated.
