A Love So Romantic

Episode 7

Lady Ru calms Ziqian down. Su Xiaowan is punished.

Gu Mansion

However,

here's

a gentle reminder.

Don't land yourself in trouble

for fleeting fame and fortune.

The favour of the royal family

is not easily obtained.

Scent of Orchid and Sweet Osmanthus

Mother and brother!

Why are you late?

We've been waiting for you.

I was revising

the homework assigned by my teacher.

So I was late.

Come and have a seat.

All right.

Look at you.

Whenever you get confused，

you should ask your brother.

Yanxi,

you should

help your brother, Ziqian, too, right?

Of course.

Mother.

Yes?

You were away for so long.

Did you bring any good stuff for us?

Of course,

but there was nothing special during this trip.

I picked a fabric

and made a fur jacket for you.

Here it is.

Try it

and see if it fits you.

The fabric is nice.

I'm the one that knows you the best.

I'm more skillful

than the average tailors, right?

Aunt, you have great craftsmanship.

The fabric is well-chosen, too.

It looks like

ferret fur from Western Regions.

As far as I know,

the sellers of fur

only do business in the north.

I wonder

since when they expand their business to the south.

Someone from my maternal home

happened to be trading in the north.

They bought some fur

and brought to me as gifts.

So I simply made a fur jacket for him.

I see.

By the way,

Yanxi,

if you're free,

I've already told the servants

to prepare dinner.

Why don't you join us?

Aunt,

I have something on.

I shall not disturb you.

Don't end up delaying the work.

You should get back to that.

Yes.

What's the matter?

Do you not like my craftsmanship?

You're highly skilled.

I'll ask Yuanshuang to keep it first.

I don't want it to be spoilt.

What a sweet talker.

Did you

slack or do something wrong again

that you have to sweet-talk me?

Of course not.

I was reviewing my homework just now.

All right,

I'll check

and see if you lied.

Leyi Hall

Well,

not bad.

Your poetry and calligraphy

have improved.

I've told you before.

As long as you work harder,

you'll be as good as Gu Yanxi.

Thank you for your compliment, mother.

In the future,

I'll continue to work hard.

I won't let you down.

Now that's my good boy.

All right.

Mother.

What is it?

I have

a small request.

Please allow me to do that.

I knew it.

You're so obedient

and you completed the homework well.

Of course you want something from me.

Go on.

Look,

our Cuju team has a competition tomorrow.

I want to give it a try.

Cuju?

Not Cuju again.

You're just like your father.

Ziqian,

do you understand how hard I tried

to bring you here?

You're the second young master of the Gu family.

How can you

be involved in Cuju?

You've made the wrong focus.

My surname is not Gu anyway.

What's wrong with playing Cuju?

You...

Humph!

Mother.

What are you doing?

Move over!

Lianfang.

Yes, Madam.

Bring it to the woodshed

and burn it.

Yes, Madam.

From now on,

you'll stay in the room

and repent.

Only come to me

when you've figured it out.

Mother!

Mother!

Yuanshuang,

you failed to take care of Mr. Ziqian.

You'll repent in the woodshed, too.

Mother, you can't do that!

Don't think of leaving this room

before the competition is over.

Lianxin.

Yes.

Without my consent,

no one can allow Mr. Ziqian to leave this room.

Do you hear me?

Yes, Madam.

Leyi Hall Mother, let me out!

Mother!

Lianfang.

Where are you going?

Look,

Madam wants me to burn this.

Did Mr. Ziqian sneak out to play Cuju again?

Yes,

he wanted to join a Cuju competition.

Madam was furious.

So Mr. Ziqian was grounded.

What?

How long will he be grounded?

I think it'll be until the competition is over.

Hey,

let's stop talking.

I'll get back to work now.

All right.

Wait,

Qiuxiang.

What is it?

Why was Lady Ru furious

when Mr. Ziqian wanted to join the Cuju competition?

You have no idea.

I heard that

before Lady Ru remarried into the Gu family,

she had a relationship

with a Cuju player.

That's how she had Mr. Ziqian.

Oh.

If not,

with Lady Ru's family background,

she wouldn't have had to

be someone's concubine.

It happened that Mr. Ziqian is into Cuju, too.

Of course Madam is annoyed.

Oh I see.

Gu Mansion

Cuju.

He only loves Cuju.

I'm so mad.

What's the matter?

Did Ziqian make you mad again?

Goodness,

this kid always makes me worried.

Give him more time.

He'll understand you.

How's

your business negotiation

when you're in the north?

Well,

it's not bad.

It's basically settled.

That's good.

Once we secure the deal,

sort out

the connections you've built in the Gu family,

and we can start our own business.

It's easy for you to say.

Well,

it's not easy.

Am I

not doing this for your own good?

Just think about why you were

in the Gu family for years?

However,

as long as Gu Yanxi is around,

you and your son will never take the charge.

I know.

I know you're doing everything for my own good,

but it's not that easy.

We need to make a good plan.

All right.

I'll listen to you.

Let's not talk about this.

It's been a long time since we last met.

I missed you a lot.

Me, too.

Gu Mansion

If I help him

and end up offending Lady Ru,

how can I survive in the mansion?

If I don't help him...

Well, he treats me as a friend.

He's treated me to so many meals.

I shall not owe him a favor.

Hey.

Qiuxiang,

you're here.

What are you mumbling?

Massage me.

I'm exhausted.

What's the matter with you?

Lady Ru was in a bad mood.

So she found fault with everything in the mansion.

The housekeeper was scolded.

So minions like us

were blamed, too.

Mr. Ziqian is unbelievable.

He's grounded.

Even we're blamed for it.

What's so important about Cuju?

Mr. Ziqian is pitiful.

He lost his father when he's young.

Cuju

is considered his only link to his father.

Of course he's reluctant to give it up.

Hey,

Qiuxiang.

What is it?

Can I ask you to help me?

What is it?

No!

If others find out,

I'll be doomed.

Look,

Qiuxiang,

I swear

that I won't land you in trouble.

Qiuxiang.

Qiuxiang.

Qiuxiang.

Qiuxiang!

I'm going deaf.

I'll make an exception this time.

Don't ever do it again.

Qiuxiang,

you're the best.

Gu Mansion

Leyi Hall

Goodness.

Oh dear.

Oh dear!

Ms. Qiuxiang,

what's wrong with you?

I think I sprained my ankle.

Come on.

Please get up.

Sir,

I'm in great pain. I can't move.

Can you send me back?

Sure.

Watch out.

I told you

I wouldn't eat.

I'm sick.

I need to go to the treatment centre.

Oh dear.

It's me.

Hey.

How did you get in?

Get changed right away

and follow me.

Where are we going?

Join the competition.

Hurry up.

What are we waiting for?

Su Xiaowan,

did you get the wrong one?

No, this is the one.

No,

what kind of clothes is this?

The mansion is strictly guarded.

This is my best solution.

All right then.

Mr. Ziqian,

are you ready?

Great.

Wait.

We need one more thing.

It's done.

All right.

Let's go.

Let's go.

All right.

Xiwang Hall

Mr. Yanxi,

we found the servants of the old times,

but we didn't get any useful information.

They said they had no idea.

No idea?

Yes.

I don't think so.

I think they do,

but they don't dare to reveal it.

By the way, Mr. Yanxi,

after I left,

I assigned a few men

to keep an eye on them.

I realised that they're in a rush

to move away in the past few days.

I bet someone

is trying to silence them.

Assign our men to watch them.

Keep me

posted.

Yes.

Oh,

by the way,

there's another thing.

Go on.

I heard that Mr. Ziqian was placed under house arrest by Lady Ru.

What's the reason?

I think it's because

Mr. Ziqian secretly joined

Lin'an's Cuju competition.

It's being held today.

I'll check on him.

All right.

What should we do?

Don't worry.

-I got this. -All right.

Stop.

Take away the handkerchief.

Mr. Yanxi,

it's inappropriate.

Brother,

look...

Mr. Yanxi,

I can explain.

I...

Where did Yuanhe go?

Let's go.

Let's go.

Lianxin,

has Mr. Ziqian eaten?

Madam,

Mr. Yanxi has not eaten yet.

What's the matter?

My mother is coming over.

I'll lure her away

and you'll go.

Let's go together.

They're waiting for you.

Just go.

Oh dear.

Sister,

where are you sending the tray?

Oh,

I'm sending it to the tea room for washing.

I happen to be passing by.

Why don't I help you instead?

Thank you.

You're welcome.

Madam, be careful.

Lianxin, later, go to the kitchen...

Oh dear!

Madam!

Madam, are you all right?

What's wrong with you?

Lianxin!

Yes.

Teach her a lesson

or she will not know her place.

Yes, Madam.

Hold on!

Aunt,

this girl is a servant of mine.

She knows nothing and doesn't mean to offend you.

I'll bring her back now to lecture her.

I see.

She's your servant, Yanxi.

Of course

I'll leave it to you.

What are you waiting for?

You should apologise.

Oh,

I'm sorry, Madam.

I won't do it again.

Fine,

you may rise.

Although Madam is forgiving,

you should be punished for your mistake.

Come with me and think about what you've done.

Yes.

Thank you, Mr. Yanxi and Madam.

Aunt,

I have something on.

We'll make a move first.

All right.

Come on.

Yes.

Lianxin.

Yes.

Follow me to the room. I want to get changed.

Yes.

Su Xiaowan,

how dare you.

Mr. Yanxi,

I need to serve Old Madam now.

I need to go.

Stop.

What?

Let me ask you.

Were you responsible

for Ziqian's dress today?

Yes.

You're rather creative.

Mr. Yanxi,

why are you laughing?

Nothing.

Just stay away from Lady Ru.

I can't save you all the time.

Thank you, Mr. Yanxi,

for your kindness.

I just don't want our family

to be in a mess over a Cuju competition.

If others hear about it,

Gu Mansion will be accused of mistreating the servants.

All right.

Wait,

Mr. Yanxi,

I have never seen a Cuju competition before.

It must be merry.

Indeed.

However, it'll be crowded.

With your height,

I think you can only see their heads.

You...

Humph!

It'll be crowded?

Mr. Yanxi, don't be scared!

I'll protect you!

Ah!

Mr. Yanxi,

why don't I treat you to the game?

I'm not interested.

Mr. Yanxi,

just go.

Just take it as me

repaying you for your kindness.

I'm not going.

Mr. Yanxi.

Mr. Yanxi, just go.

Mr. Yanxi,

just go.

Go.

Listen.

Yes?

I'm only going for Ziqian.

They resorted to such a despicable means.

If this goes on,

That's right.

let's go to the front.

Thank you.

What?

Why are you thanking me?

Thank you for cheering us on.

Oh.

You've watched the competition.

It's time to return to the mansion.

What?

Ziqian,

after celebrating with your friends,

you should go home early

or your mother might find out.

It's painful.

Is he

jealous?

Brother,

we're having roasted duck at Zuixian Tower.

Why don't you join us?

Roasted duck?

Yes.

Roasted duck is heaty.

It's bad for health.

Xiaowan,

why don't you join us?

Let's see what he'll say.

Mr. Yanxi!

Mr. Yanxi!

What's the matter?

I have something on.

I'll make a move first.

What about me?

Mr. Ziqian, I'll go now.

Oh,

I'll go now.

Wait.

You rarely come out.

Why don't we have a feast

before going back?

Well...

Ziqian!

Well...

Why aren't you going?

I'm waiting for Xiaowan.

So you're Xiaowan.

We've long heard about you.

What?

Ziqian mentions you a lot.

If not for you,

he wouldn't have been able to join the competition.

You've done Tianyu Team a huge favour.

Don't mention it.

It's nothing much.

We're celebrating at Zuixian Tower later.

Why don't you join us?

Let's go.

Well...

Come on.

All right then.

Were you Wan'er's nanny back then?

Mr. Yanxi,

you're all grown up.

When I was still in the mansion,

you're just a toddler.

Now you've grown up

and you resemble

your father.

I've been searching for all servants.

They refused to bring it up.

Why did you agree to see me?

your uncle saved my life.

He allowed me to stay in the mansion

to look after his daughter,

Ms. Wan'er.

I wanted to take good care of Ms. Wan'er,

but

I couldn't save her at all.

If that's the case,

the fire in the mansion

was not a coincidence.

That's right.

I remember

what happened that day vividly.

Ms. Wan'er said she left her hair tie in the side chamber.

She wanted to retrieve it.

I was worried as she's alone.

So I followed her secretly.

Goodness.

I didn't expect...

Did you see the person's face?

It's really dark

and there's no one around.

I saw that he's armed.

So I didn't dare to get closer.

I saw him leaving.

So I followed him.

Right after I walked out...

A fire at the side chamber!

What?

A fire started at the side chamber.

If that's the case,

right after the person

knocked Wan'er out,

there's a fire at the side chamber.

What about Wan'er?

Didn't you follow them?

I did,

but I wasn't fast enough.

So I lost track of that person.

I was wondering.

Since he's from the mansion,

perhaps someone else

in the mansion was colluding with him.

I didn't believe in anyone.

So I'd been keeping it to myself

until you looked for me, Mr. Yanxi.

That's when

I finally revealed this.

I'll bring you in through the back door today.

It's safer than climbing over the wall.

Oh,

that's great.

If we climb over a wall,

we might bump into guards.

If the roasted duck gets dirt on it,

it won't taste as good.

Why don't you be my personal maid?

What?

You even kept a portion

of the roasted duck for Mr. Yanxi.

Oh,

I...

If you're serving me,

I'll be too lucky.

Stop joking.

I just want to please Mr. Yanxi

as I don't want him to deduct my salary.

How do we get in?

I got a key of the back door.

You're awesome.

Of course,

I'm awesome in many ways.

Mother,

why are you here?

I've been looking for you.

Are you?

What a coincidence?

You would like to talk with me?

Yes.

Let's talk in the room.

Mingyue and Wandao.

-Yes. -Yes.

Bring Mr. Ziqian back to the room.

Yes.

Mr. Ziqian, please.

Come out.

-Stop! -Stop!

Go!

Go!

You'd better behave!

-Don't move! -Don't move!

Lift your head.

Madam, are you all right?

What's wrong with you?

It's you again.

Madam,

I'm sending roasted duck to Mr. Yanxi.

I'll make a move first.

Stop.

You're a bad influence to Mr. Ziqian.

I'll teach you a lesson.

Tie her up.

Yes!

No.

Give her 20 strokes

and send her to the woodshed!

Yes!

Go!

Madam!

It's a misunderstanding, Madam!

I...

A misunderstanding?

Why don't you explain

after you receive the punishment?

Bring her away!

Go!

Madam,

it's seriously a misunderstanding!

Madam!

My goodness.

Mr. Yanxi!

Lady Ru wants to punish Xiaowan!

Please go!

I'll ask you one more time.

Who ordered you to help Mr. Ziqian to leave the mansion?

Madam,

I'm innocent!

You're stubborn.

Continue the punishment.

Madam,

I'm innocent!

Madam,

we'll end up killing her if we go on.

Hit her.

Hit her!

Yes!

How dare you!

Xiaowan.

Hold on!

Yanxi,

I'm

your stepmother after all.

You're bringing her away

just like that

in front of everyone.

You're being rude to me.

Aunt,

I'm the young master of Gu Mansion after all.

Don't I even have the right to do so?

Of course you do.

She's just a servant.

Do you, the young master of Gu Mansion,

have to make a fuss?

She's not a servant.

She's Gu Mansion's

Ms. Gu Wan'er.

Qiuxiang, follow me.

Yes.

She's Gu Wan'er?

How could she be?

Let me out.

Let me...

20 strokes.

Even a man won't be able to take it,

let alone a girl.

I know, right?

Madam was too harsh this time.

Open the door.

I want to go to the loo.

Leyi Hall Hey.

Wait.

What?

-Mr. Ziqian. -Mr. Ziqian.

Where's the girl

you mentioned just now?

She was at the woodshed just now.

I think Mr. Yanxi brought her away.

Wait,

Mr. Ziqian,

Madam ordered you

not to go anywhere.

I'm not going anywhere!

Wait.

Mr. Ziqian!

Mr. Ziqian!

So he cares a lot about me.

It seems

I wasn't hit for nothing.

His embrace

and temperature.
