Twisted Fate of Love

Episode 18

Xi.

Someone knocked at the door.

I answered it but only found this.

That’s Dongyue’s earring.

She was wearing it just now.

If you want to keep Dongyue alive,

use your ordnance to trade for her.

Don’t worry.

I will bring back Dongyue

safely to you.

Go to stay with Ziyuan

and wait for my news.

Your Highness, how do you plan to

deal with the ordnance if we find it?

If we catch him with the ordnance, we’ll report to His Majesty

and bring down Feng Xi.

Well said, Your Highness.

No time to lose in doing it.

Let’s set off immediately.

Your Excellency!

Your Highness.

Your Excellency.

The person is locked in the eastern room.

The thing has been sent to Feng’s Mansion.

All crossbowmen are on standby

and ready to go.

Who are you after?

Where are you going

with the crossbowmen?

Your Highness, you’d better not know it.

Feng Xi possesses ordnance without permission.

Although he is suspected of collusion,

there is no conviction yet.

Killing him hastily

doesn’t seem to be appropriate.

Didn’t you just say

he is suspected of collusion?

As long as we convict him,

Feng Xi is doomed to die.

As an important official,

how can you use lynching in private?

Last time he transferred the ordnance under cover of Yin Shi

and made me lose a lot of military expenses.

Weren’t you also punished by His Majesty for that?

He also turned us at odds.

How can we not make him pay for that?

I told you about Feng Xi possessing ordnance

to let you help me

bring him to justice,

not to vent your anger by killing him.

Your Highness.

Feng Xi is too cunning.

You are no match for him.

Well,

I’ll go to Qishan

for you this time.

Your Highness, please stay at my mansion. Have some tea

and wait for me to come back.

What do you want to do?

I heard the people of the Third Prince

showed up in Qishan a few days ago.

The Third Prince?

The Third Prince won’t kidnap Dongyue.

If it’s not the Third Prince,

there is only one person left.

The mantis stalks the cicada,

but is unaware of the oriole behind.

Deputy Prime Minister kidnapped Dongyue to threaten you.

He doesn’t plan to report to the court

about your warehouse in Qishan,

but he wants to bring you down privately.

It’s not the first time he tried to bring me down.

Has he ever succeeded?

How is the transfer

of the ordnance in Qishan?

Murong and I have transferred a lot

these days.

We made them look like props

and hid them in the luggage cart of Jiaman Troupe.

There is one batch of ordnance left to be transferred tonight.

After the gate opens tomorrow,

they will be sent out without making a sound.

No, tomorrow is too late.

But they are vigilant in the city now.

Jiaman Troupe is such a big group.

I’m afraid they can’t escape the scrutiny.

That’s okay. Ask her to set off immediately.

Send the ordnance that has been transferred to Jiaman Troupe

out of the capital immediately.

I have another plan for the remaining ordnance in Qishan.

I can’t let Deputy Prime Minister have the ordnance.

Then meet me outside the Palace.

Xi, what about you?

I have something else to do.

Daole!

Ziyuan?

Daole.

I...

I heard that Dongyue was taken away.

Xi and I are trying to save her.

Take me with you.

I have been learning martial arts for a while.

-Maybe... -No!

They will set many traps this time.

It’s too dangerous for you to go there.

Because it’s dangerous,

I need to go there to help you.

Just stay.

I promise

I will come back safely.

Wait for me.

Daole.

Take this.

Safety

This is Xiaosi’s protective talisman?

It has been protecting me for a long time.

It made me meet Dongyue and Minister Feng,

and you.

Promise me.

You must come back safely this time.

I have lost Xiaosi.

I can’t lose you anymore.

You still

treat me as your brother.

I...

That’s okay.

Anyway,

wait for me.

Such a fool.

This protective talisman

is the most precious thing I have.

Stop.

Go ahead.

Wait.

Keep going.

Capital

Stop!

Investigation.

Sir.

We are under order to enter the Palace to perform.

There are dancers in the carriage.

And it’s all women’s stuff behind.

It would be embarrassing

if you rummage through it.

Cut it out!

Check it!

Miss Murong!

Miss Murong!

These are the rewards from the concubines

for your performance in the Palace a few days ago.

There is also the handkerchief

that the Noble Consort made for you in person.

How can you be so rude

and forget to take it?

It was a momentary oversight.

Sir, please hide it from

the Noble Consort for us.

Luo Chun.

Thank you, Sir.

Luckily, I’m here in time.

Otherwise...

Release them now.

Go ahead.

Your Highness!

Your Highness, are you okay?

Qingxiao, how did you find me?

I heard that you have gone to Deputy Prime Minister’s Mansion

for a long time after the court meeting. I sense something is wrong.

So I came here to find you.

I was deceived by Deputy Prime Minister. Where is he?

Someone saw him going to the west of the city

with a bunch of crossbowmen.

I don’t know what happened.

Dongyue.

Did you see her?

Dongyue?

I searched every room here to find you.

But I didn’t see her.

Your Highness.

Should we enter the Palace and report to His Majesty immediately?

It’s too late.

Qingxiao, prepare a horse for me.

I’m going to Qishan now!

Your Highness!

Things are messy in Qishan now.

What can you do by yourself?

Yes, I can’t do much by myself.

Inform all the guards of Yufeng Pavilion

to leave for Qishan immediately.

There is no time to lose!

Your Highness!

Fang Yuan.

What you want is all here.

Can you let her go now?

Feng Xi!

Don’t care about me!

You are admitting your guilt if you give him the ordnance!

No matter how big the sin is, I have to save you.

Your Excellency.

It is the ordnance of the Ministry of War.

This woman is really your weakness.

You can do anything for her.

Your Excellency, you are resourceful.

I lost.

Release her!

Come on!

Take back all the ordnance.

Don’t miss any box!

-Yes! -Yes!

Take them all.

Protect His Excellency!

Feng Xi!

You really are treacherous and unpredictable!

Keeping you alive in this world

will do no good.

Xi, you leave first.

I’ll stop them.

Daole.

I raised you up

not to let you shield me from arrows.

Cut it out. Loose!

Let’s go!

Xi, you are hurt!

It’s okay.

Do you want to die?

Feng Xi, what happened today is because of me.

I won’t let you die here.

I won’t die.

You won’t, either.

Kill them all!

Stop!

Your Highness!

Your Excellency, if you don’t stop now,

what happened in Qishan will be hard to end.

I will enter the Palace tomorrow

and tell my father about

how you treated me at your mansion!

Feng’s Mansion

You are taking revenge on me.

You’re awake.

Yesterday in Qishan,

you were clearly good at martial arts.

Why did you pretend

not to know how to fight?

You don’t know how many people want to kill me.

I just want to lay low.

I thought you pretended to be bad at martial arts

to tease me.

Sorry.

If the arrow was half an inch away,

you won’t be able to talk to me now.

You don’t need to say sorry.

I’m the one who should say sorry.

Do you remember that I tricked you into stabbing me

at Zhuming Post?

That’s because I know

you couldn’t kill me with your skill.

Today,

I finally paid it back to you.

I forgot about it a long time ago.

Did you hide the ordnance

in Qishan?

You saw it.

Qishan’s ordnance

is less than a tenth of the loss of the Ministry of War.

It’s just for protecting myself.

Really?

When they tracked down the ordnance last time,

it was revealed that Deputy Prime Minister stole the ordnance himself.

He lost the trust of His Majesty.

This time he took this chance to get back at me

and to kill me.

Well,

you don’t believe me?

It was too risky this time.

Now everyone knows that you are excellent in martial arts.

Wouldn’t it be more dangerous for you in the future?

You can always be a thief.

But you can’t always protect yourself from a thief.

As for what happened today,

I’ve prepared myself for it.

I just didn’t expect it to come that soon.

Did you prepare yourself to be killed?

Yes.

I didn’t let more people know

that you can heal yourself.

So they were all coming at me.

No matter what,

I will protect you.

Enough!

Stop it.

If you keep saying it,

I’m afraid I will take it seriously.

If you don’t want to leave,

then don’t leave.

I know I lied to you.

But I never wanted to hurt you.

Do you dare to trust me one more time?

If we have to be apart

one day,

please remember what you said today.

I won’t give you a chance to leave me.

You promised me you would come back safely.

Why are you hurt so badly?

If it weren’t for Xi and Dongyue,

I might have been hurt worse.

Don’t touch it.

It’s itchy.

Strange.

You used

this ointment before.

Why is the wound red and swollen this time?

Maybe it’s incompatible with other medicines I’m taking.

See.

Your protective talisman works.

It brings me back safely.

Since it works,

then take it with you.

Let me worry less about you.

The ointment has run out.

Have some rest.

I’ll get you a new one tomorrow.

I’ll leave.

Ziyuan.

You made a big deal this morning

just to make me

find this jar for you?

Do you think I have nothing else to do?

Leave it. Just give it to me.

You’re the lady,

but you can’t boss us around for free.

All right.

Take it.

Here you are.

By the way, Daole just let me ask you

when you will change his dressing.

This jar is for

making ointment for him.

I’ll send it to him after I finish it.

Look how smug you are.

Why are you so happy?

Minister Feng praised my writing again.

I wrote it vividly about the performance

of Jiaman Troupe in the Palace.

Master Feng also asked

if their leader paid me money to write it.

Look at you.

You don’t write about important things.

But you are quite excited about writing tidbits.

How do I not write about important things?

I was just discussing with Minister Feng

about how to write the Qishan incident this time.

This matter involved many parties.

How can your little tabloid

report this carelessly?

How do I report it carelessly?

Minister Feng said

what happened in Qishan is too serious.

Instead of hiding it,

it’s better to let everyone know.

No way.

If it spreads out, someone will be beheaded.

It’s nothing more than a storm of jealousy.

The Third Prince and Deputy Prime Minister are in high position,

but I don’t think I would be beheaded for that.

What did you say?

A storm of jealousy?

Minister Feng, the Third Prince and Deputy Prime Minister

had a big fight

in Qishan over Dongyue.

Ziyuan?

Why does she look for Xi at this time?

Is she here to send ointment to Xi?

Who else could it be

if she is not sending ointment to Minister Feng?

Last time Minister Feng was injured,

I also sent the ointment to him.

I don’t know if he used it.

That ointment jar

looks familiar.

It’s from a girl.

Of course she needs to find a beautiful jar.

Last time I should also have used a beautiful jar.

Maybe Minister Feng could take another look at it.

Right?

Stop it, you flatterer.

You don’t know what you are enjoying.

If I have the chance to stay with Minister...

Forget it.

I should go back and finish the task

Minister Feng gave me.

If Minister Feng is happy about it, maybe…

I’ll leave.

Isn’t that ointment jar

the one Xiaoyou found for her in the morning?

I thought it was for me.

It turns out it’s just my wishful thinking.

Why are you that stupid?

Don’t you see that she only takes you as her brother?

You have feelings for her foolishly.

But she doesn’t look at you in that way at all.

Why are you so stupid?

Ziyuan?

You got hurt. You don’t go back to sleep

but stay here for drink.

Do you want your wound to rot faster?

You are so annoying.

We don’t have special relations.

What do you bother to care about me?

Yes.

We don’t have special relations.

Can I invite you to go back and sleep?

I know I’m not as good as Xi.

He is good-looking

and talented.

But I’m begging you.

Can you not treat me so well?

Can you not care about me so much?

Are you nuts?

Am I wrong to treat you well?

Besides, Dongyue and Minister Feng

are perfect for each other.

Why are you being jealous?

Never mind.

You are drunk.

Let me take you back to sleep.

Get up.

I am only a little brother

for you.

A little brother.

Young master.

You drank a lot of wine last night.

Wash your face first.

How did I get back last night?

You drank too much last night

and fell asleep on the corridor.

The guard on watch at night noticed you and sent you back.

What is this?

Miss Ziyuan came to see you this morning.

She sent it here.

Ziyuan!

I thought you forgot to

give me the ointment.

When did I ever

break my promise to you?

I heard that you asked Xiaoyou

to get a beautiful jar for you.

I thought that jar of ointment is for me.

I waited all day, but you didn’t give it to me.

That ointment was for you.

But it occurred to me that you would get a rash with aloe vera gel.

I asked Dongyue for the prescription for reference.

Therefore,

I gave that ointment to Minister Feng.

Did you forget it?

When I rubbed the ointment for you,

I noticed that your wound was red and swollen.

I also asked you

if it’s incompatible with the medicine you are taking.

I remember it.

Dongyue said

I need to change one of the medicinal materials.

It was already late at night

after I changed it.

I thought you are in need of it,

so I put it into an ordinary jar for you.

Yes.

Your ointment jar is not as beautiful as your Xi’s.

You are not going to complain about that, are you?

It’s fine.

Well, when you are done with your work,

remember to rub the ointment for me.

I can’t do it for the wound on my back.

By the way,

the medicinal materials I used are really expensive.

Your skin is precious.

Remember to give me the money for the ointment next time.

Why don’t you learn something good

but learn to be stingy as Murong Yi?

Modesty and Brilliance Do you forget it?

Modesty and Brilliance Last time at the Lantern Festival,

Modesty and Brilliance you were drunk

Modesty and Brilliance and treated everyone to a drink.

I paid that for you.

Do you want me to

show you your rhetoric

at that time?

Do you think you were doing well

when you were drunk last night?

Last night?

How do you know I was drunk last night?

Were you there?

I...

Of course I was not there.

When I came here to wake you up

for practicing martial arts this morning,

I saw you sleeping like a log.

I heard from them

that you drank a lot last night.

Really?

Look at you!

At a young age,

why did you drink alcohol like adults?

Not your business.

Modesty and Brilliance

how are you doing with darts?

I believe Feng Xi doesn’t collude with Lu Yuantong.

What else can I do

to stop Lu Yuantong?

Dongyue.

Your wound hasn’t healed for a long time.

I brought you

some newly made medicine from the Palace.

Maybe it’s because

the wound is worse than before.

Your Highness, you are here

not just for sending me the medicine, right?

Dongyue.

Please forgive me.

I was put under house arrest by Deputy Prime Minister.

I wanted to save you,

but I was one step late.

If it wasn’t for Feng Xi,

I’m afraid I would regret it forever.

Don’t mention about Qishan anymore.

If His Majesty knows,

it will do no good to anyone.

But what I hate the most

is that I could have had

the evidence of Feng Xi smuggling ordnance.

But Deputy Prime Minister stepped in

and rendered my efforts in vain.

I don’t know when I can have

such an opportunity next time.

Your Highness.

What I am going to say

might upset you.

But I always feel

you have some misunderstanding of Feng Xi.

Dongyue.

I remember you told me

that you get close to Feng Xi

to collect evidence.

You want to convict Feng Xi and bring down Lu Yuantong.

Are you

just talking about it?

Your Highness.

I was too naive at the time.

Bringing down Lu Yuantong

isn’t as easy as it sounds.

Like you said,

if Lu Yuantong has that batch of ordnance,

what do you think he will do?

Lu Yuantong is at the border.

He has his army to support him.

If he gets the ordnance,

the consequence will be unimaginable.

There is no evidence

about the lost ordnance.

Deputy Prime Minister has lost his power.

Feng Xi is hateful.

But I believe

he plots no rebellion.

Never mind.

You don’t know it yet.

After the explosion in Qishan,

all the evidence was gone.

Even you don’t plead for him,

I don’t have enough evidence

to bring down Feng Xi and Lu Yuantong.

Dongyue.

There is one thing I’ve been thinking about for a long time.

But I have never dared to ask you.

I’m afraid to get

the answer I don’t want.

Your Highness.

Sorry.

Do you forget it?

You and I first met at the bridge.

We walked in the rain.

We drank wine and talked about everything in Yufeng Pavilion.

We have so many beautiful memories.

What about him?

The Marquis An case.

The ordnance case.

Do you forget how he

pushed you into the game step by step?

It’s my fault.

I fall in love with someone I shouldn’t love.

I’m sorry.

No.

Maybe I’m overthinking.

Dongyue.

What are you talking about?

Yeah.

I don’t know what I’m talking about.

The lost ordnance is an unsolved case.

It’s the 15th year of Qiyuan.

Dingyuan Rebellion is imminent.

I can’t just sit and wait anymore.

Where are you going?

I have my mission to do at the capital.

But I lost myself in the moment of pleasure

and forgot what I really should do.

I might leave

after I finish it.

Your Highness, just forget about me.
