Twisted Fate of Love

Episode 6

Vice Minister of Rites Feng Xi

punished the villain

and protected the nation!

He is promoted as Minister

to show His Majesty’s grace!

Respect this!

Zhaoyang Hall Congratulations to Minister Feng!

Zhaoyang Hall Congratulations!

Zhaoyang Temple Congratulations.

Thank you.

Congratulations to Minister Feng.

Thank you.

Minister Feng.

Your Grace.

Minister Feng, you enjoy success at a young age.

Now wearing the new official uniform

does make you look good.

Still not as dignified and imposing as Your Grace.

Can we talk in private?

Please.

I know my own strength.

Without your support,

how would His Majesty

make me a minister?

With a shrewd and capable man like Minister Feng

who can assess the situation running the Ministry of Rites,

I can rest assured.

What’s your next plan?

His Majesty shows worry

about my arrival at the capital this time.

I have many restrictions.

I don’t know how to do next.

Based on the current situation,

I dare to suggest you

go to the Palace and make contacts with Concubine Jia.

I don’t know

if you would do it.

Minister Feng.

You also want to meddle with my family business.

His Majesty has always been afraid of you.

If you can cultivate yourself, make a benign father

and have an obedient daughter,

then they

won’t mention about diminishing your power.

I don’t need you to teach me

how to do it.

But I’ve been busy with official affairs since I came to the capital this time.

I really should go see my daughter.

Your words remind me that

I haven’t seen my sister

for a long time.

When I go to the Palace next time,

I will tell my sister

to take care of Concubine Jia.

Thank you.

I’m sorry!

I won’t do it again!

I’m sorry!

I won’t do it again!

I’m sorry!

Noble Consort Feng I won’t do it again!

Noble Consort Feng I’m sorry!

I won’t do it again!

Maid Hong’e I’m sorry!

Maid Hong’e I won’t do it again!

You all leave.

Yes.

It seems that I came at a wrong time.

Hong’e leaked messages to other people.

She betrayed me.

What a capable maid.

I heard there is

a Concubine Wan in the Palace recently.

Yes.

That Concubine Wan is hateful.

She just entered the Palace and started to buy people off.

She fawns upon the superior and insults the subordinates.

I punished that maid Hong’e

to slap herself

because she got too close to Concubine Wan’s people.

Living in the harem

is like treading on the thin ice.

It’s no less dangerous than the court.

I have to take more care of you.

Your power in the court is unstable.

You have just been promoted as a minister.

Don’t think about setting people up

all day.

Like that Dongyue,

what if he is really a semi-celestial being,

what should you do then?

There is no semi-celestial being and retribution.

I made that up.

You are deceiving His Majesty.

It’s not that serious.

Even if I’m exposed,

I still have a backup plan.

Besides,

I have you to protect me.

I can’t protect you forever.

Sister.

I heard that the daughter of Marquis Dingyuan, Consort Jia

is going to give birth soon.

If you have time,

go to visit her for me.

What are you planning again?

Listen,

don’t try to do anything to Marquis Dingyuan.

He is not someone we can afford to offend.

Sister, don’t worry.

I’m getting along well with him.

Feng’s Mansion

Xi.

You are too

cruel to yourself this time.

If I’m not cruel enough to myself,

how can I save Dongyue?

By the way,

did she go back to Court History Bureau?

Yes.

Unscathed.

Better than you are.

It was a difficult time for her.

Forget it.

Go to Court History Bureau for me.

To bring her here to vent your anger?

Being smart.

I just want to remind Court History Bureau

that His Majesty highly values Dongyue.

Her clothing and food should be upgraded to the best.

The best?

How good is the best?

Do as his own standards.

Bigger room

which can allow her to bathe alone.

Dongyue, you know,

except for Court Astronomer,

your room is the cleanest

and the biggest.

Can I ask you a favor?

Go ahead.

You always take care of me.

As long as I can do it,

I’ll do it for you.

You know.

I was punished by Court Astronomer

when I wrote Capital Journal.

Capital Journal has not been published for a long time.

Can I write at your place

after I get off duty at night?

No problem.

Really?

Awesome!

Deputy Prime Minister gave lectures at Yufeng Pavilion.

What kind of news is that?

You don’t know it.

The Third Prince’s Yufeng Pavilion

never gets involved with officials.

Deputy Prime Minister was the first one to give lectures there.

Greetings to Your Highness.

Are you okay now?

After you took me to the water dungeon that day,

I’ve been doing well.

Thank you for running around for me these days.

I’m here today

to thank you for saving my life.

I’m glad to know it.

I heard that my father knew about

you can heal yourself.

He called you a semi-celestial being

and promoted you in Court History Bureau.

It seems to be a blessing in disguise.

But I heard

you broke the rules and let Deputy Prime Minister

give lectures at Yufeng Pavilion to save me.

There are a lot of rumors out there.

They said you and Deputy Prime Minister have an unusual relationship.

Deputy Prime Minister used to be my teacher.

They are not totally wrong.

You don’t need to worry about it.

Yufeng Pavilion can’t stay away from worldly affairs forever.

I got you into trouble and ruined your reputation.

We are friends who connect.

You didn’t cause me any trouble.

Yufeng Pavilion needs upright and insightful

person just like you.

His Highness is a good person.

If I join Yufeng Pavilion,

I might hurt His Highness

when I assassin Lu Yuantong.

Thank you for your appreciation.

I’ve known for a long time that Yufeng Pavilion has the best counselors.

I’m not good enough to join you.

Dongyue, don’t be humble.

Yufeng Pavilion doesn’t force anyone to join us.

You can follow me to Yufeng Pavilion

just as a guest.

All right.

It would be disrespectful

to reject your kindness.

I’ve long heard the name of Yufeng Pavilion.

It’s my honor

to visit there in person.

Please.

Capital Journal

Seems like His Highness isn’t patient enough.

He does have different feelings for Dongyue.

Xi.

The people in the capital all said that

the Third Prince started to take sides.

I knew it.

Most of his detachment

was faked.

He thinks he can cast aside worldly cares and live independently.

But he forgets that he was born in the royal family.

He can’t escape his responsibility

that easily.

He wants to cast aside worldly cares,

but God sent Dongyue to him

and tempted him to join the game.

Xi,

will His Highness be

forced to be the side of Deputy Prime Minister?

His Highness knows what’s right and what’s wrong.

Deputy Prime Minister used to be his teacher,

but they don’t necessarily have the same belief.

Let’s wait and see.

By the way,

how is Dongyue doing after she came back to Court History Bureau?

She is really happy.

She moved to a big house.

Court Astronomer divided all of her work to other people

and let her have a rest.

She only needs to call the roll.

She seems to be quite leisurely.

Then why doesn’t she come to see

me, her lifesaver?

The people from Court History Bureau said

she went to Yufeng Pavilion this morning.

Does she know

who saved her life at all?

Be careful about your wound.

I’ll get someone to change your dressing.

Change what?

Keep it!

The one who should see it hasn’t seen it yet.

Yufeng Pavilion

Yufeng Pavilion What is the way of running a nation?

Upright and Graceful The world is equally shared by all.

Select able man and foster an honest and peaceful atmosphere.

Foster an honest and peaceful atmosphere.

Do you want to join them?

I don’t have much insight

about politics.

We don’t talk about how to be an official here.

We talk about our ideals.

What is your ideal?

Me?

It should be no talking about worldly affairs,

and no worries in the world.

Isn’t that

doing nothing?

Governing by doing nothing is not really doing nothing.

But not doing recklessly.

Think about that day’s steamed cakes seller,

and the umbrella seller.

If the nation is governed well,

these sellers can stay undisturbed.

Then you can also be

a leisurely and free person.

By the way,

I heard that there is a new play in the shadow puppetry theater.

It’s very good.

Why don’t I treat you to the shadow play first,

then you buy steamed cakes for me?

All right.

This play is about a royal family member

who wants to recruit a distinguished person.

But this distinguished person rejected him again and again

and refused to engage in politics.

This royal family member won’t give up.

He was rejected three times in a row.

Finally he successfully recruited

the distinguished person under his command.

That royal family member must be very patient

just like you.

Yes.

If you really want to have someone,

why would it matter

to be rejected once?

Dongyue.

Did you reject me

because you are afraid of being exposed as a girl?

It’s okay.

I’ll keep waiting

until you are willing to come to Yufeng Pavilion.

What are you doing in Court History Bureau?

Well,

don’t you feel grateful at all

to see your savior?

Savior?

You must forget

who brought me into Court of Judicial Review.

I just wanted to teach you

a little lesson.

I didn’t expect that Deputy Prime Minister stepped in

and it almost lost control.

Anyway,

the Third Prince saved me out.

You don’t need to explain.

What are you doing?

A few floggings can’t hurt you.

At Zhuming Post,

you’ve already died once in front of me.

So you took me into Court of Judicial Review

and tried to kill me again?

Why would I harm myself if I want to kill you?

I flogged you because I know

you can heal yourself.

With my wound,

plus your self-healing ability,

His Majesty had to believe

you are a semi-celestial being who can’t be killed.

All right.

Even if what you said is true,

why would you save me and hurt me again and again?

You are too shrewd and deep.

I can’t figure out what you are doing.

You said the Third Prince saved you.

Have you ever thought about

why Court Astronomer

reversed the verdict for you before His Majesty did?

Are you saying

you did that too?

Minister Feng.

I’m insignificant and stupid.

I can’t figure out your mind,

and I don’t want to.

Minister Feng, please spare me.

Let’s take our own roads from now.

You want to take your own road,

but I won’t let you go.

Minister Feng, I heard you were injured.

I specially brought you a box of ointment.

It can promote blood circulation and dissipate stasis. It works well.

We have everything in Minister Feng’s Mansion.

Why do we need your box of ointment?

I was punished by Marquis An

and my friend gave me the box of ointment.

After I applied it, I became good as new in a few days.

I’m just a little official.

I have nothing valuable for Minister.

This box of ointment shows my sincerity.

Please accept it.

Put the ointment down, you can leave.

Minister Feng!

Take care of yourself.

Xi.

Lu Chuan admires you that much,

the ointment might work really well.

Why don’t you use it?

I don’t want to use it.

Did Dongyue annoy you again?

Even so,

you shouldn’t treat yourself like that.

I asked you to send Mingzhu to the yard at the west of the city.

How did it go?

I have done it.

Xi, I don’t understand.

Isn’t it the safest for her to be out of the city?

Why keeping her in the city?

I have my reason to do that.

Daole.

Didn’t you ask me

when I’ll treat you as an adult?

You will grow up

when you stop asking why.

And also,

pick up the ointment and put it on the table.

Do you have your brother’s relics?

Safe

Before I went to Court of Judicial Review to testify,

Xiaosi put the protective talisman

for me in person.

He said I would come back safely.

But I didn’t expect him...

I can’t make you see him again.

But I can let him hear

what you want to say to him.

Come on.

Do it like me.

Hold the incense.

Bow three times like this.

Say Xiaosi’s name in your heart.

He can hear your inner voice.

Really?

Of course.

I was talking

to my parents in this way.

I got it.

I got it.

I...

I will stay alive

Safe for you.

Safe

When I was ten years old,

my family was killed by gangsters.

My mother hid me in a wooden box, and I survived.

But she

was killed on the wooden box

to cover me.

Then Xi and his men passed by

and saved me.

He took me with him.

I didn’t know

you are just like me.

We don’t have family in this world.

You can take me as your family

if you are willing to.

I mean

you have been hungry for so long,

let me find you something to eat.

If you still want to get revenge,

you have to live well.

Have some good rest.

Just leave the work to the maid.

How did you

get hurt?

Nothing.

Just a small injury. It doesn’t matter.

It will be fine in a few days.

It’s swollen.

The wound would be hard to heal in this way.

Wait for me.

I was beaten in Marquis An’s Mansion that day,

Dongyue gave me the aloe cream

and applied it for me.

The wound was healed soon.

Dongyue treated me so well.

But I betrayed him.

It looks just like the ointment

Lu Chuan sent.

Dongyue!

We know each other well,

but can you knock on the door first

before you come in next time?

You know what,

I gave the medicine to Minister Feng yesterday.

I also asked him to take good care of himself.

You didn’t tell him that I asked you to send it.

Of course not,

Why did you give me such a good opportunity

to get close to Minister Feng?

Don’t you adore him?

These kind of opportunities will be all yours.

Really?

I’m glad to take them all.

Xi.

Why do you steal my ointment?

See it clearly.

Mingzhu gave it to me.

I see, everyone has it.

Mingzhu got it from Dongyue.

I don’t need to tell you about

the relationship between Lu Chuan and Dongyue.

Hurry up!

Summon the physician, I want to apply the ointment!

I need to fight with these people

for a long time.

I’ll go now.

Auspicious Stars in the Sky

Lu Chuan!

Dongyue!

I didn’t come back for a few days,

Why is everyone so busy now?

Do you forget

the sacrifice ceremony will be held in seven days?

After you got promoted,

I’m the only officer in Court History Bureau.

I’m so busy.

I thought I have a helper,

but it seems that

I have an extra superior.

Lu Chuan.

I’m newly here.

I don’t know what I should do in the ceremony.

As far as you think,

what should I do as the Junior Supervisor?

Junior Supervisor?

If the sacrifice ceremony

will be hosted by Court Astronomer himself,

then you will be the right priest.

Right priest?

What should I do?

The previous right priest

used connections to get in here.

He did nothing.

Lu Chuan!

Auspicious Stars in the Sky Don’t be lazy there

Auspicious Stars in the Sky because you know Dongyue well!

Auspicious Stars in the Sky Come here to sort out the ephemeris!

Auspicious Stars in the Sky All right, got it!

I’ll go now.

Go to read the records of rites.

It will be useful for you.

Bye.

I must seize

the chance to assassinate Lu Yuantong.

Junior Supervisor!

Register first.

The Junior Supervisor still needs to register.

I forgot it.

What do you need?

I’m wondering if you can find

the records of rites for me?

Records of rites?

I’m not in charge of it.

It’s all on the shelf over there.

Why don’t you take a look by yourself?

Records of Harem

Excuse me,

do you know where

the records of rites are?

Junior Supervisor.

I’m just an insignificant officer.

I’m not allowed to read the dossier.

Of course I don’t know

where are the things you are looking for.

I noticed that there is a number on the dossier.

Can I look through the

catalog of Court History Bureau?

You can look through catalog.

It’s locked in the cabinet over there.

Do you have Court Astronomer’s warrant?

I can only get the catalog for you with a warrant.

Court Astronomer left the capital.

He will be back in a few days.

Then I can do nothing about it.

Either you look for it yourself,

or wait for Court Astronomer to come back.

Auspicious Stars in the Sky

Minister!

You are here to inspect the work!

Are you feeling better?

Did the ointment I gave you work?

Where’s Dongyue?

I need to talk to him.

Dongyue?

He was asking me about the sacrifice ceremony.

I guess he is looking into the files inside.

The Ministry of Rites allocated a lot of money to Court History Bureau.

Why is it still so shabby?

What are you looking for?

Records of rites.

Who is in charge here?

Greetings to Minister!

Minister.

There are so many people in Court History Bureau,

you are all good for nothing!

You don’t even have a catalog for all these files,

how should Dongyue find it?

Minister.

We have a catalog.

It’s locked in the cabinet.

We need a warrant of Court Astronomer to open it.

Court Astronomer?

If Court Astronomer doesn’t come back for one day,

does Dongyue need to keep looking for one day?

Brush and ink!

Brush and ink.

Yes.

Minister.

Come here.

Turn around.

Bend over.

Junior Supervisor Dongyue has the special right to handle affairs.

Seeing this warrant is seeing me.

Are you clear?

-Yes. -Yes.

Give this warrant I wrote to

Court Astronomer later.

Yes, Minister.

Go to find the catalog!

Yes, Minister.

Do you want Dongyue to look for it with you?

Minister, here is the catalog.

Book Catalog of Court History Bureau

Bright Heaven and Clear Earth

He even got someone to help him in Court History Bureau.

Yeah.

This boy looks skinny and tender,

I felt it improper when he just arrived.

Brother Li.

Is Minister Feng homosexual?

It might be true.

You two are quite imaginative.

It’s a shame for you to stay in Court History Bureau.

-Mercy, Minister! -Mercy, Minister!

I am in a good mood today.

Let me teach you a lesson.

It’s said that the higher the rank, the greater the power.

A minister is a much higher

position than yours.

I’ll teach you a good lesson

for Court Astronomer today.

You two are very noisy.

Why don’t you

jump like frog in this yard

until I am satisfied?

-Yes, Minister. -Yes, Minister.

Boring.

Dongyue thinks you are not jumping high enough!

Please spare them.

All right, get up.

-Thank you, Minister! -Thank you, Minister!

Since you have found the file,

why don’t you see me out?

Court History Bureau

Court History Bureau You have to make a big deal out of it.

Court History Bureau It will only make them hate me more

Court History Bureau and squeeze me out.

Would you rather keep looking through the files alone

until Court Astronomer comes back?

Do you think you are helping me?

Don’t tell me

you punished them to avenge me.

Don’t flatter yourself.

Now that you have found the file,

then go back to work.

Organize

the important sacrificial ceremonies of Court History Bureau

in the past ten years into a book

and send it to my mansion tomorrow.

What did you say?

Ceremonies of ten years?

How can I finish it in one night?

If you can’t finish such a small task,

don’t stay in Court History Bureau.

Court History Bureau

Court History Bureau

I’m so dead.

Don’t know how he is

going to mess with me again.

I’m not here to rush you.

Really?

Then why are you here?

Xi went into the Palace.

He won’t be back for a while.

I’m here to tell you

to hurry up during the day.

I owe you a favor.

Anyway, I will send it to the mansion before dark.

Actually, Xi

is not that unkind.

Stop!

If you want to justify what he did, then don’t.

I didn’t sleep last night because of him.

I don’t want to listen to you now.

He is still your superior.

Just give in once for a while,

it will do no harm.

Otherwise, do you want to go up against him forever?

Don’t worry.

I won’t give him any chance.

Alright.

Take your time.

I’ll leave.

Xi, I brought your words to her.

Miss Dongyue seems to be full of resentment.

Since you are in no hurry,

why did you ask her to send it over today?

Well,

do you think I did it for personal revenge?

Isn’t it?

I want her to understand

she is mine.

Only I can

bully her.

Even if it’s for personal revenge,

only I can do it.

I mean

she is a member of the Ministry of Rites.

She’d better stay in her room today

and don’t make any trouble.

Go ahead and prepare it.

Follow me into the Palace.

Yes.

Isn’t that plainly torture?

How can I finish it in one day?

It seems that the tasks of Court History Bureau are not easy.

Your Highness, why are you here?

I’m here to see if you are busy.

Looks like I came at a wrong time.

Do you need anything, Your Highness?

Do you remember

the shadow puppetry I mentioned last time?

They will perform a new play tonight.

Sorry, Your Highness.

Minister Feng gave tasks to me.

I have to finish it all today.

If I can’t finish it,

he will kick me out of Court History Bureau.

No hurry, there is still some time before it starts.

Besides, I can help you

organize these files.

The two of us do it together,

it would be done faster.

Then we can go to see the play.

All right.
