Twisted Fate of Love

Episode 4

Marquis An’s Mansion

Master.

You stayed up the whole night again.

How can I fall asleep?

The backyard...

I asked people to check the backyard.

It’s still bleeding.

Feng Xi said

Dongyue can communicate with deities.

Go to Court History Bureau right now.

Just say I am not feeling well.

Ask the new-come Dongyue

to treat me.

Dongyue.

Lower your voice!

Official Residence

What happened?

Director just asked me to go to Marquis An’s Mansion.

It’s said that Marquis An is sick

and needs me to treat him.

Isn’t that funny?

I am just an official of the Court History Bureau,

how can I treat disease?

This must be an odd business.

I told him I am not feeling well.

I need to take a rest and go there later.

What were you hiding from?

I’m going to ask the Third Prince for help.

If someone asks you, just say I’m sick.

Got it?

Go ahead.

Minister Feng asked me to give you this.

He...?

It’s rare for Minister Feng to ask me to run errands.

I have to deliver it to you myself.

I don’t know when I can see you in women’s clothing.

Why don’t we take a look inside?

What’s that?

Nothing.

The stuff I usually use.

Let’s go.

Okay.

You are faking your sickness.

I...

Minister Feng sent people to deliver a message that

you need to go to Marquis An’s Mansion.

Minister Feng is a member of the royal family.

Marquis An is of honorable title.

My little Court History Bureau

can’t afford to offend anyone.

You sent me women’s clothes

and forced me to go to Marquis An’s Mansion.

Feng Xi.

What tricks are you playing?

I heard that you can communicate with deities.

And you are highly intelligent.

I think you have noticed the signs.

There is a strange vision in the mansion.

It makes me worried.

I hope you expel the evil from my mansion.

Your Grace.

You misunderstand it.

-As for expelling the evil, I don’t... -Don’t hit me!

-Let me teach you a lesson! -I’m sorry!

Don’t hit me!

What’s that sound?

Who is making a noise?

Kneel down!

Your Grace.

Maid of Marquis An’s Mansion Mingzhu This maid talks crazy.

Maid of Marquis An’s Mansion Mingzhu She frightened the madam yesterday.

So I was punishing her.

I didn’t talk crazy.

I’m telling the truth.

The vision in the mansion is retribution.

How dare you keep talking nonsense!

I’m not talking nonsense!

Take her down.

Don’t let her interfere with Dongyue’s business.

Yes.

Wait.

Your Grace.

In my opinion,

if you want to expel the evil, we have to smooth things over first.

There mustn’t be any cruel punishment.

This maid is still young.

It’s careless talk.

Please don’t punish her too hard.

Since Dongyue speaks up for you,

you are pretty lucky.

Let her go.

But, Dongyue,

please remove the ill fortune for my mansion.

Your Grace.

This is dangerous.

I need to have a thorough investigation.

Can you all leave first?

By the way,

I also need a helper.

This maid would work fine.

Everything will be done as you said.

As long as you can expel the evil from my mansion.

Stay here.

Don’t talk carelessly.

Got it?

What’s your name?

My name is Mingzhu.

Thank you

for saving my life.

I only said a few words.

You said

the visions in the mansion are retribution.

What’s going on?

Sir.

My brother Xiaosi died here.

One day my brother

accidentally broke a teapot.

Marquis An was furious and made an order to flog him

until he died.

And he was buried in this garden.

The vision started since then.

I had the dream every night that Xiaosi came to me for voicing his grievances.

Sir, Xiaosi is the only family I have.

Since you are an official from Court History Bureau.

Please resolve his grievances and make him rest in peace.

Please.

Prepare some tea and food.

Dongyue.

Please.

Thank you.

Your Grace.

I looked into this place carefully.

After deducing the causality,

I finally found a way to solve it.

You and your family saw it.

This vision is extremely dangerous.

It takes more effort

to solve it.

It is dangerous.

It might be a little difficult for you.

After all, you are someone of importance.

But I’m afraid this method

is hard to work

if you don’t do it in person.

As long as it can expel the evil,

I’ll do whatever I can.

I’ll get it straight to the point.

You need to take off your top

and copy scriptures in the courtyard

until the vision disappears.

Take...

Take off the top

in the yard...

Well...

Can it expel the evil?

Feng Xi was born in February in the leap year of tiger.

That’s an extremely rare horoscope.

To be honest,

I’m not 100% sure that it will work.

There is also another way to ensure it.

Your Grace, you need a man in an important position

who was born in February in the leap year of tiger

to be undressed and copy the scriptures with you.

It will definitely work in this way.

Among us,

who was born in February in the leap year of tiger?

Tiger.

Your Grace.

He must be in an important position.

Feng Xi!

Minister Feng?

Hurry up and get Feng Xi here!

Yes.

Do I really need to take off my clothes?

That’s what Dongyue said.

We have to take off our clothes.

Why don’t us three do it together?

Dongyue.

Do me a favor.

Your Grace.

It would be counterproductive with too much power.

Bring the brush and ink.

It’s ready.

Take it off now.

I don’t know whether

your method will work.

You gave me women’s clothing on purpose

because you wanted to use my female identity

to force me to expel the evil.

But I have a question now.

Is the bleeding grass

arranged by you?

I’m helping you.

You have to achieve something

to be promoted in Court History Bureau.

But you are

so ungrateful.

Just enjoy it.

You want me to be naked,

is it because you haven’t seen enough

since the last time in the hot spring?

Your Grace.

Since the ceremony is going to start,

I’ll leave now.

It’s just a gesture.

I’m here under an order.

Your Grace, you don’t have to do this.

The rumors about the vision

can be easily spread.

I don’t want to make this matter public.

If you take the money,

we will be on the same side.

If you are that worried,

then I may be so bold

as to ask one person from you.

That maid Mingzhu,

can you give her to me?

You do have a tender heart.

It’s just a slave.

You can take her away.

Thank you, Your Grace.

I will be tight-lipped about today.

Bright Heaven and Clear Earth

Have a seat.

Let me rub the medicine for you.

You got new wounds on the old one.

You must have been suffering a lot for a long time.

Sir.

I’m a servant.

I’m used to it.

There is no one born to be a servant.

Don’t worry.

I will find a way in a few days

to save you from slavery.

I almost forget it.

This is improper for me to do it.

I made the aloe cream.

It works well for superficial injuries.

Rub it yourself.

I’ll let myself out.

I didn’t expect Marquis An to be so sincere.

The north wind blows in the evening.

But he still keeps writing and refuses to put on the clothes.

Xi.

I have never seen you in such an awkward position.

It seems that Dongyue is your nemesis.

Wouldn’t that be boring

if I bring her under control easily?

Does the wound hurt again?

It doesn’t hurt anymore.

You not only saved my life today,

you also saved my future life.

I don’t know how to return

your favor in this life.

You have an open mind.

If you find out

I make any mistakes,

please be generous and forgive me.

What do you mean by that?

I just feel that

I am not very smart.

I’m clumsy.

I’m afraid I will offend you

or cause trouble for you.

Maybe I just think too much.

No need to worry about it.

Auspicious Stars in the Sky

Everyone, come to take a look.

He got a maid from Marquis An for the treatment.

I thought

it was a beauty.

With this look,

it would only be depressing

to have her in the room.

I think

she looks pretty good.

It’s pleasing to the eye.

Marquis An didn’t give her to you.

If you are envious,

go to ask Marquis An for someone.

Move!

Move!

Well...

-Come on. -That’s funny.

A bunch of meddlesome people.

Don’t listen to them.

There is a dress that suits you.

In fact, you are very beautiful.

You just don’t know how to dress up.

This is for you.

You are so considerate.

Change your clothes.

I’ll take you to buy some rouge.

Peace and Prosperity

There is a rouge shop ahead.

It’s the most famous rouge shop

in the whole capital.

Even the concubines of the harem come there to make orders regularly.

It’s very famous.

Then there is a very famous restaurant.

Pingkang House They have the best roast chicken.

Pingkang House I’ll give you a treat

when there is free time.

The three of you, please stay!

Minister Feng!

Such a coincidence!

Pingkang House I can meet you

Pingkang House in such a bustling street in the capital.

Seems that we are really connected.

We even have the same preferences.

What do you mean?

In this fine dress,

this lady

looks very different from the first time I met her

in Marquis An’s Mansion.

I’m a little tempted.

Why don’t you

come with me to my mansion?

Funny!

Pingkang House Mingzhu is a pure and innocent girl,

Pingkang House why would she go to your mansion?

Of course to enjoy my wealth and grace.

You are a little poor officer.

It is not easy to protect yourself.

Why would you cumber with

Mingzhu’s great future?

You...!

Well,

reluctant?

I don’t think you have

the right to bargain with me.

You are so shameless!

Mingzhu is healthy and able,

she can do whatever she wants.

Even if you threaten me,

I won’t let you have her.

Are you really willing to give up your position in the Court History Bureau?

You...!

Sir!

Just let me go with Minister Feng.

What did you say?

Don’t lose your official position for me. It’s not worth it.

Just let me go.

Let’s go.

Well done, Feng Xi.

He does have a different taste.

They will leave

a good story in the capital.

Can’t you see that?

He is basically robbing!

Feng’s Mansion

Take off your clothes.

Take off your clothes.

I don’t know when I can see you in women’s clothing.

Why don’t we take a look inside?

Minister Feng.

How should we arrange for the guest?

She is here.

Just do as you want.

Please come with me.

Zhaoyang Hall

During this time,

I heard

some rumors outside the Palace.

I don’t know if it’s just hearsay

or it did happen.

It’s said that Marquis An set up an altar privately in his mansion

for worship.

You’re the Assistant Minister of Rites.

And you have close contact with him.

Have you heard of it?

Your Majesty.

Marquis An once ordered me to copy scriptures with him.

But I didn’t know it was for worship.

Marquis An is a surrender from the previous dynasty.

After he submitted to us,

he lost the real power.

It’s hard for him to not have complaints.

It seems that there must be an inside story.

Feng Xi.

I order you to make a thorough investigation.

Yes, Your Majesty.

But Marquis An is my superior.

It should be handled by the Court of Judicial Review.

I see.

I will write an order

and make the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review

fully cooperate.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

You may leave.

Yes.

Do you misunderstand Minister Feng?

I think Minister Feng likes Mingzhu.

Think about it.

Bright Heaven and Clear Earth Mingzhu suffered so much.

Finally she got Minister Feng to love her.

Isn’t that a good thing?

Look,

does Feng Xi have a family?

Yes, he does.

And it’s a beautiful love story.

I don’t understand.

Why do you admire Feng Xi so much?

He has a family, but he still robbed a civilian girl.

No wife.

He only has one concubine who has been with him for many years.

Isn’t that worse?

She has been with him for so many years,

but he even won’t give her a title.

It’s not like that.

I mean

isn’t that normal

for a man to have concubines?

Besides, Mingzhu is willing to go with Minister Feng.

You are so reluctant.

Do you have feelings for

Mingzhu?

What are you thinking about?

I hope Feng Xi can treat Mingzhu well.

But with his character...

Never mind.

Let’s forget about it.

Now the storm about Marquis An has passed.

I still have my own things to do.

Actually, except for the major events,

the Court History Bureau is quite a leisurely place.

You have nothing to worry about.

By the way,

didn’t you say Sacrifice Ceremony will be held soon?

When will the ceremony be held?

How can I take part in the ceremony?

You asked me three questions at once.

Which one should I answer?

Who is Dongyue?

I am.

Auspicious Stars in the Sky

The Court of Judicial Review wants to interrogate you.

Go with me!

Why do they want to interrogate me?

Save yourself some time!

Take her away!

Court -Let’s go! -Yes!

What are you doing?

Dongyue!

Let’s go!

Court of Judicial Review

Court of Judicial Review I heard that you suggested

a worship in Marquis An’s Mansion.

Let me ask you,

why would you suggest a worship for Marquis An?

Minister of Judicial Review Yan Lu

Minister of Judicial Review Yan Lu Is there

Minister of Judicial Review Yan Lu

Minister of Judicial Review Yan Lu any conspiracy behind it?

There were visions in Marquis An’s Mansion

because he is violent and cruel

and he killed many people.

He almost killed a maid

in front of me

on the day I went to his mansion.

This is what the heaven forbids, how can I sit by and do nothing?

Not to mention it’s a life.

Minister Yan.

If you don’t believe me,

you can go to Marquis An’s Mansion for verification.

There is grass bleeding

in the garden of Marquis An’s Mansion.

There are countless innocent souls.

Go to check it, then you will know

if I’m telling the truth.

Minister Feng!

Minister Feng.

Dongyue was taken away by the Court of Judicial Review.

I know Dongyue spoke rudely

and offended you.

But Dongyue is my

only good friend in Court History Bureau.

I can’t do nothing about it.

Please show mercy and save Dongyue.

The Court of Judicial Review can be tough in terms of the interrogation,

but if she didn’t break the law,

they won’t frame her.

They will let her go

after they find out the truth.

Minister Feng.

You know how they use cruel methods to interrogate people.

Those who even survive in there would still be skinned.

I’m afraid Dongyue won’t take it.

I can go to

the Court of Judicial Review

for your sake.

Daole, change clothes for me.

Thank you, Minister Feng.

I’ll bring him to apologize to you.

Tell Dongyue,

if she is willing to yield,

I’ll keep her

safe and sound no matter what happened.

Yes.

Minister Yan.

Minister Feng.

Do you have any result

about the worship case of Marquis An?

Minister Feng.

According to Dongyue’s confession,

there was a vision of grass bleeding

in the courtyard of Marquis An’s Mansion.

The people are in panic

and worried that it is retribution.

So Marquis An turned to Dongyue for help

and did the worship

under Dongyue’s suggestion.

To be cautious,

I sent people to Marquis An’s Mansion

to check if Dongyue is telling the truth,

just in case.

Why are they digging here?

I don’t know.

Who knows?

I heard that there is a body.

What?

No way.

Are you serious?

Yeah.

No way.

Take a look.

They found it.

There is something.

They found something.

This...

What’s this?

Court

It’s an augury.

Drought for three months. No peace for Qiyuan.

The trees are all cut down. The court is in chaos.

Looks like there is something buried

in the backyard of Marquis An’s Mansion.

But it’s not a body

as Dongyue said.

Minister Feng.

The trees are all cut down.

What does that mean?

Don’t you know that?

His Majesty’s name bears the meaning of forest.

It’s clear that Marquis An is plotting a rebellion.

There will be something funny to see.

In my opinion,

the bleeding grass in Marquis An’s Mansion is suspicious.

According to what Dongyue said,

a servant’s body is buried in the yard of Marquis An’s Mansion.

How could it be so coincidental

that the evidence of Marquis An’s rebellion was dug out?

It is a matter of treason.

It will lead to beheading.

The evidence of Marquis An’s treason is conclusive.

We must handle it impartially.

Based on Feng Xi’s reaction,

he won’t let it go easily.

I had to go with him.

Well, since the evidence is solid,

I’ll get someone to

arrest Marquis An

and put him in jail.

Give him a third degree

to see if there is any confederate

behind him.

You can put him in jail.

But you can’t start with torture.

If you trust me,

let me sound it out first.

Let’s not scare him away.

Thank you, Minister Feng.

I can’t just sit here and wait.

Lu Chuan said that if I yield to Feng Xi,

Feng Xi will get me out of the prison.

I might as well give him what he wants now

and get out of here.

Only when I’m outside

can I have the chance to kill Lu Yuantong.

No, no.

I did nothing wrong.

If I yield

and Marquis An did plot a rebellion,

wouldn’t that make me an accomplice of Marquis An?

Minister Feng.

You are well-known in Court History Bureau

for predicting the snow in July.

You also warned the accidental death of Jing.

You are so good at predicting,

did you predict that you would be in prison?

I’m innocent!

I was wronged!

Looks like you don’t know

the people of the Court of Judicial Review

have found the hard evidence in the garden

of Marquis An’s Mansion which proved his treason.

Minister Yan went to arrest Marquis An.

He asked me to persuade you.

About what?

To admit that I plot a rebellion?

I told you that day in the street.

Don’t say I didn’t tell you.

But it looks like you didn’t take it seriously.

Do you want to save me?

If you are on my side,

I’ll save you.

If not,

you deserve your death.

Well played, Minister Feng.

You told Marquis An about Lu Chuan’s book

and provoked him.

Then you suggested him that I can expel the evil.

You forced me to expel the evil in Marquis An’s Mansion

and made the whole worship thing.

You’re not bad, either.

You seized the chance to make a fool of Marquis An

and got me involved.

If Marquis An turns around and takes revenge on you,

I won’t get away with it.

You spread the exorcism

in Marquis An’s mansion, right?

Feng Xi.

Now I even suspect that

you arranged my meeting

with Mingzhu.

Now that Marquis An is in prison,

the task Minister Feng gave you is done.

You should set off soon.

Mingzhu’s younger brother Xiaosi Please tell Minister Feng.

Mingzhu’s younger brother Xiaosi

Mingzhu’s younger brother Xiaosi Thank him for saving Xiaosi.

I will never forget

his kindness for us.

Xi doesn’t need you to return his favor.

Now you have done what you should do.

This is the best thing you can do for him.

It’s just...

I still have a little favor.

Where is Dongyue now?

I heard he is in jail.

Is it true?

Dongyue is a good person.

He is different from Marquis An.

Please show grace to him.

Rest assured.

Xi just wants to teach him a lesson.

He won’t do anything to him.

But I promise you.

If I see Dongyue some other day,

I’ll tell him that

you are still worried about him.

No need.

I failed him first.

Just let him forget about me.

You are that smart.

It’s far below your talents to stay at Court History Bureau.

Why don’t you join me?

Just nod your head,

I’ll get you out of here right now.

Despicable!

Don’t keep me waiting too long.

Minister Yan will bring you to court

in one hour.

Feng’s Mansion

Xi, it has been many days.

But Dongyue still won’t give in.

I think she is too stubborn.

She can’t be used by you.

There is no need to keep her around.

Let’s just...

Kill her.

Kill her!

I’m just saying it.

Do you really want to kill her?

Of course.

And I will kill her myself.

Tell Minister Yan.

Transfer her from the Court of Judicial Review to the Ministry of Rites.

I knew you won’t do nothing about it.

You are clever now.

Open the door.

Yes!

You...

Stay quiet. Go with me.

Where are you taking me?

To change a cell for you.

Don’t ask too many questions

if you don’t want to die.

Soldier You can’t take him away!

You...!

Soldier

Minister Yan promised me!

But he stopped me

when I was taking Dongyue away!

How can he break his words?

Only Deputy Prime Minister can

make the brutal Yan Lu this obedient.

Yan Lu used to be a little official at the border.

Now he is in charge of the Court of Judicial Review.

Deputy Prime Minister helped him get promoted.

Seems that

Deputy Prime Minister stepped in.

Court of Judicial Review

Court of Judicial Review You were punished by Marquis An that day.

Court of Judicial Review You were holding a grudge,

Court of Judicial Review so you persuaded Marquis An into

doing the worship thing to make people find

the augury you buried in advance,

so you can frame Marquis An for treason.

The evidence of this case is solid.

I advise you to confess your crime early

so as to suffer less.

That’s the truth.

I tricked him into setting the altar to save people’s life.

I didn’t know anything else.

Nonsense!

You want to do this in the hard way.

Look,

I’m best at

dealing with stubborn people like you.

I have a witness!

The maid of the Marquis An’s Mansion,

Mingzhu!

She told me that

Marquis An killed his servant.

Witness?

The witness Mingzhu you’re talking about

has been missing for days.

Of course you can say whatever you want.

I don’t think this so-called witness exists at all.

Dongyue.

Don’t push your luck.

Look.

Among those prisoners I interrogated,

there wasn’t one person who didn’t confess.

Look at your slim figure.

Why push yourself on the way to death?

I did not frame Marquis An for revenge.

I didn’t plot a rebellion.

Use the tool of torture!

Use the hard one!

Yes!

Minister Yan!

Look, I didn’t lie!

Minister Yan,

please show mercy.

Dongyue is a good person.

He did save me.

How dare you!

Honest and Upright Bow down in the court!

I’m Mingzhu. Greetings to Minister!

Mingzhu!

Tell Minister Yan

what’s buried

under the garden of Marquis An’s Mansion.

Minister Yan.

The servant killed by Marquis An

is Mingzhu’s younger brother Xiaosi.

That’s why the sacrifice thing happened.

Is what Dongyue said true?

Mingzhu.

Don’t be afraid.

Tell Minister Yan

what you know!

Dongyue came to Marquis An’s Mansion

and saw me being punished by the steward.

Dongyue interceded for me and saved my life.

I’m really grateful to him for what he did.

But...

But...

My brother Xiaosi is living well now.
