What is the problem?

Yangsucheong wants the merchants to repay their loans right away.

[Episode 11]

Some merchants are already being chased out because of their debts.

Why would Dae Mok do this?

Because he wants to take away the assets belonging to the people?

This is too dangerous and reckless even for Dae Mok.

I'm sure there is another motive.

Ah, we had a tip that Dae Mok had something at his secret hideaway.

Should we go take a look?

Isn't that copper?

I think the Pyeonsoo-hwe are plotting something.

Stand right there!

Oh my.

What's going on?

Oh my goodness.

Ga... Ga Eun?

What are you doing here?

- We are just pack carriers. - Yes.

Why would you be spying on us here?

What do you mean spying?

We only stopped by on our way.

It is true.

Hey, you.

You there.

Wow. Look at this.

Who is this again?

This isn't going to cause problems, is it?

No, it isn't a big problem.

She's the daughter of a criminal.

No one will care even if she disappears.

Make sure what happens here does not leave this place.

You will have to put your life on the line if it does.

Yes, Sir.

I will take care of it very quietly.

What are you all doing?

Take care of it quickly.

Please let us live! Let us live!

Run away now!

Young... Young Miss.

Hurry.

Let's go, Young Miss. Hurry!

Hurry, hurry.

What are you doing? Go after them!

This way, Young Miss.

Get on.

I will let you off once we get out of here.

Get on now.

Shoot them now.

Shoot.

You idiots.

Hurry up and shoot!

Catch them!

Young Master Chun Soo.

I don't know whom you're looking for, but I am not Chun Soo.

- But... - I'll be going then.

Young Miss.

- Oh, Young Miss! - Young Miss.

You managed to survive, Young Miss.

Have you returned, Boss?

Gosh, this is so awkward.

Why are being like this?

I feel awkward, as well.

Everyone was waiting for you.

We're doing this to make you feel prestigious as Boss.

Even if I do not even try...

people tell me I am overflowing with prestige and dignity.

Forget it, kid.

Let's hurry up and go inside before you lose all prestige.

Let us go.

From now on...

we will no longer use the Sangpyeong Tongbo currency.

Huh? Then what will we use?

We will use cotton like we did before Sangpyeong Tongbo existed.

If it is a large deal, use gold or silver.

Will that solve the problem?

The money is running dry in the markets.

If we do what I say, the markets will run for now.

I will relay further measures once I can figure out what the situation is.

Elder.

By any chance...

have you seen anyone distributing copper recently?

No.

I haven't seen signs of it for about three years.

Now that you mention it, it's been a while since I've seen copper.

You're right.

Where does Joseon produce their copper?

They produce it in the east, but they don't produce enough.

They mostly import it from Japan.

Then does the copper stay within the Japanese residences in Joseon?

I don't know.

The Japanese administration changes every few years.

I don't know why they have so many secrets.

They are so careful about everything. There's no information about them.

If there is any source I don't know about

please look into anything regarding copper.

Excuse me, what about the boss?

- Is he here? - Yes.

Where is he right now?

Over there.

He is probably in a meeting now.

Good horse.

- Boss. - Yes.

Thank you so much.

That man is the boss?

Young Master Chun Soo.

Young Master?

Are you really not Young Master Chun Soo?

You are mistaken.

By any chance...

is this because of the letter I left?

Or is it because I did not keep my promise to you?

Is that why you're pretending not to know me?

You have mistaken me for the wrong person. subtitles ripped and synced by riri13

I have never made a promise to you nor received a letter.

I may not be this Chun Soo.

I will still help you if you need it.

Please tell me what brought you all this way.

Are you feeling uneasy now that you have seen Young Miss Ga Eun?

Why do I feel such regret?

All those years that passed...

I had hoped that she had lived well without me.

I was the one who turned away.

I was also the one who feigned ignorance when she called me Chun Soo.

So, why?

Why am I full of regret?

Go now and tell her, you are Chun Soo and the Crown Prince.

Why don't you tell her everything?

"What a relief I wasn't caught."

I thought you would say that.

I suppose I was wrong.

Yes.

Even though we met like this, she is completely in the dark.

What a relief it is.

Young Master Chun Soo.

I don't know whom you're looking for, but I am not Chun Soo.

I may not be this Chun Soo.

I will still help you if you need it.

Please tell me what brought you all this way.

You are looking at me that way again.

Do I look that similar to this Chun Soo?

By the look in your eyes...

he must have been your first love.

Yes.

You look exactly like him and every time you say you are not him...

my heart aches.

He is someone I yearn for.

I heard that you are going to Hansung.

Yes.

I will go and take care of the problem regarding the merchants.

- You should take your time... - No.

I need to see for myself how you intend to resolve this.

The roads are very rough. You should take your time.

I will see you tomorrow then.

She is still as stubborn as always.

It has been over half a year since the King started governing.

Yet, when it comes to all of Dae Mok's requests, he says...

"Go on and proceed. Go on and proceed."

The King is in the palm of Dae Mok's hand.

What can we do about it?

It would be good if he would open his eyes to politics on his own.

I will meet with His Majesty.

The Minister of Finance has failed in his duties and will be dismissed.

Please assign Minister So Sol to the position instead.

Go on and proceed.

These are people who have stolen water from Yangsucheong.

In order to make an example of them to the people

please punish them severely.

Go on and proceed.

Wait.

These are criminals who illegally took water from the Yangsucheong reservoir.

They should be punished by hanging.

Please make an example of them.

Father, Father!

You all make a living off of the nation.

How could you not think about the hardships of the people?

You only think about Yangsucheong?

You want to hang people for taking water from a reservoir?

Yangsucheong has jurisdiction and the right.

They are merely asking for a royal sanction to hang them.

Yanguscheong's jurisdiction is over the water.

Not over a person's life.

I want those innocent people released immediately!

Your Majesty.

I heard that you released the people locked up by Yangsucheong.

Yes, Dowager Queen.

You did a good thing.

When I removed myself as Queen Regent...

I was worried about your state of mind.

However, seeing you today, I was worried for no reason.

Your dignity and virtue are increasing day by day.

I feel much more at ease.

I am very grateful.

Your Majesty.

If this nation is to remain a nation...

you must protect your name, above all else.

From now on

protect your dignity like you did today.

Were you willing to exchange your life...

to save those people?

If you cannot eat a deadly flower today

you know you cannot preserve your life.

Why did you do such a thing?

I... I... I'm sorry.

Please forgive me.

You should be more prudent about who you stand up for.

How could you be so careless?

Please spare my life.

Elder Dae Mok.

Do not get in the way of the Pyeonsoo-hwe's plans again.

The owner of the mask will change if you do.

Father.

What about Hwa Goon?

Is she not coming today either?

No.

That stubborn girl.

Why is it so hard to see her even once a month?

She has a large deal today, I mean tomorrow, so she cannot come.

She apologized for it.

But, Father.

Are you not proud of Hwa Goon though?

No one helped her

yet she's running a large market.

[Mapo Port]

How about 400,000 nyang in exchange for our cotton?

What do you think?

Let's do it for 350,000 nyang.

400,000 nyang.

In return, we can double the size of deal next time.

As people say, you deal in large numbers.

Is this the only way we can travel?

I told you the road was rough.

Well...

Why must I ride a horse with you, Boss?

You said you didn't want to take your time following me.

It will be more uncomfortable riding with that man over there.

What other choice do you have?

If you really do not like it...

should I let you off here?

They said there was nothing you didn't know and no problem you couldn't solve.

All you needed in return was loyalty.

I hope that is not a false rumor.

That is not a rumor but a reputation.

Do you want to become the most famous person in Joseon?

Yes.

So much so that my fame reaches my friend in the palace.

I need to become that famous.

We'll be continuing on to Hansung without stopping.

Hold on tight.

Who are you? Who ordered you to follow me?

No, Your Majesty.

I was following you to thank you.

One of the people you ordered to be released...

was my father.

Thank you for saving my father's life, Your Majesty.

Did you say... I saved him?

Yes, you saved my father.

Thank you for your benevolence.

I...

saved him.

Even a foolish person like me...

was able to save one man.

I can save a person.

If it were the Crown Prince...

he would not have become a King like this.

Your Majesty!

How about you?

Do you think you can pay it back?

I was only able to get half.

We have to pay it all by the day after tomorrow.

You haven't heard from Young Miss Ga Eun yet?

No, not yet.

Why don't we just wait a little longer until she comes back?

What is this place?

All the large merchants of the eight cities of Joseon are meeting here today.

I asked you to help the poor people of Seomun Market.

It was not the rich and powerful large merchants.

The large merchants have also been getting pressure from Yangsucheong.

They are feeling the crisis as well.

Boss.

The large merchants have the power to survive.

However, the poor citizens can end up on the streets after one crisis.

I realize that.

Then why is it that you are here and not at Seomun Market?

In order to gain the fame to reach to palace

did you believe solving the issue for the large merchants was more appealing?

Who do you think I am?

I am not the King, nor someone with power, or financial influence.

How do you think I will resolve this problem?

30 bags of salt from Jeolla-do to Gangwon.

Send 20 bags to Gyeongsang.

Hamgyong-do will receive salt and rice.

Send back silver.

Once we pay off the debts to Yangsucheong

we will have 10 gwan of silver in our account.

We were able to get through this crisis.

We do not know when they will suddenly ask for repayment again.

We should not deal with Yangsucheong, for the time being.

Do you really believe you have gotten through this crisis?

Your Highness.

Your Highness...
