The Legend of Xiao Chuo

Episode 29

You are the ones

who serve His Majesty all the time.

His Majesty is so weak.

You should tell me earlier.

Do you have any idea

what would happen

if he suddenly fainted like this?

Your Highness, what should we do now?

Ask Shifang, Xiuge,

Xianshi, Han Derang and Xiao Dalin

to come to me right now.

I need to talk to them

Yes, Your Highness.

Your Highness,

Crown Prince, Crown Princess,

and Dilie King's family are here.

Dilie is fine.

I'm afraid that

Yansage is ill-disposed.

How about His Majesty?

Why did he faint suddenly?

The King of Yan has come to check it out.

His Majesty is just overtired.

It's not a big deal.

Is he awake?

We'll find out

when we go inside and have a look.

You are asking her in such detail.

People will think

His Majesty is seriously ill.

Crown Prince, wait a moment please.

What's wrong?

The King of Yan told me that...

His Majesty was fine,

but shouldn't meet guests.

I am his uncle.

I'm his family.

It was because I had neglected

the King of Yan's orders

that His Majesty suddenly fainted.

This is the second time he's asked me to be careful,

then please be patient.

He will meet you

when he gets better.

We've come a long way,

but you're not even going to

let us go inside.

I'll tell His Majesty that

you're worried about him.

But now,

His Majesty's health is the most important.

You are too impatient to wait

even a few days.

Fine.

It's fine.

I can't put you on the spot.

We are relieved that

His Majesty is fine.

Let's go.

Your Highness, goodbye.

Please take good care of yourself.

Let's go.

You go to Yanyan tomorrow morning

and persuade her to make me the regent.

The regent?

She won't agree.

Before...

What?

You know what you did before.

I feel ashamed.

It was my fault indeed.

But you saved her and her son.

They owe you a debt of gratitude.

You just have to be tough with her.

She won't be mad at you.

She knew exactly

how it had happened.

She did me a great favor

by not punishing me.

Don't push your luck.

Do you know why she didn't punish you?

Do you think

it's because you saved her?

Then tell me. Why?

Under the circumstances,

she'll come to me

even if she hates me.

Let's think about it.

His Majesty is seriously ill.

Yanyan can't cope with problems alone.

She needs someone to help her.

She has only two sisters.

Yansage is His Majesty's uncle.

If he becomes the regent,

there will be no place for her and her son.

So...

She needs me.

We will be against Yansage together.

I really want to help her.

Once Yansage becomes the regent,

Hunian can't control him anymore.

I'm afraid that

he'll kill us by that time.

You are right.

I'll make time to talk to her

for Hunian and Yanyan.

My good girl.

His Majesty just woke up once.

He felt better after taking medicines.

But once you get sick, it's hard to recover.

So His Majesty is still very weak now.

He needs some rest

to recover.

It seems that you need to

take charge of the meeting tomorrow.

The reason I asked you to come here

is to discuss some coping strategies in advance.

What worries me most is Xiyin.

He is closed to the royal members

and has military forces.

He won't miss the chance tomorrow.

We have to watch out for Yansage too.

If we want to against both of them at the same time,

it's easy for us to lose another.

The most important thing now

is to suppress Xiyin first.

Yansage has just handed over half his army.

He is powerless now.

Xiuge.

Yes, Your Highness.

Anyway,

you have to make sure His Majesty

and little prince are safe tomorrow.

Don't worry, Your Highness.

As long as I'm alive,

I won't let

His Majesty and little prince

get hurt.

I'll chair the meeting alone tomorrow.

Some of them will feel unconvinced

and make troubles.

It's about His Majesty's decency.

Affray is not allowed.

Shifang. Xianshi.

Yes, Your Highness.

You are mature and reliable.

Please help me to steady the ship.

We will, Your Highness.

Dalin.

Yes, Your Highness.

Keep waiting outside the door

with the Royal clan troops tomorrow.

You can take action

if there's anything wrong.

Yes, Your Highness.

That's it.

I'm counting on you tomorrow.

Yes, Your Highness.

Mr. Han, wait a minute.

Your Highness,

I received a message from the palace.

The Queen gathered many of her henchmen tonight.

It seemed like they were discussing government affairs.

Government affairs.

Apparently, they were discussing how to be against me.

As soon as Mingyi fell,

she lost her mind.

She really compared herself to Empress Dowager Shulü.

Ridiculous!

His Majesty is sick.

The court is acephalous now.

Your Highness, how about...

It is not the time yet.

If I am right,

someone wants to seize this opportunity more than I do now.

King Zhao?

Yeah.

His Majesty is seriously ill.

Xiyin must be thinking of

being the regent again.

What a fool!

The queen will take him as a threat.

But it's a good thing.

Why?

The harder they fight,

the better for me.

I have to make their relationship more intense

So that their fight will be more drastic.

Nianmugun.

Yes, Your Highness.

Go to meet Nüli and Gao Xun immediately.

And tell them to

escalate the conflict between

the Queen and Xiyin

in the court by any means tomorrow.

The messier, the better.

Yes, Your Highness.

What's wrong, Your Highness.

You seemed to want to talk just now.

Have you figured out

how to deal with Xiyin?

Xiyin is so arrogant

and defiant.

I don't think

we have to suppress him on purpose.

We can do the opposite.

The opposite?

Yeah.

We give him a false title but no real power.

Stabilize him in this way for the time being.

With his temper,

he will be supercilious

even it is a false title.

We didn't deal with him.

It was because he is a royal member.

And the courtiers who secretly supported him.

But if he offends them all,

then...

They will betray him soon.

By that time,

we can punish him

for everything he did before.

I know what to do.

The Queen is coming.

Long live, Your Highness.

You may rise.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Your Highness,

I heard that His Majesty fainted suddenly yesterday.

Is His Majesty all right now?

His Majesty is fine.

He is overtired

and needs to rest for a while.

Then...

Who's going to deal with the government affairs.

In His Majesty's order,

I'll take charge of the government affairs.

Prime Minister Go Xun to assist.

The Palace deploy commander, Nüli.

Privy of North, Xianshi.

And Privy of South, Shifang.

You will assist Prime Minister to deal with the government affairs.

I hope you can pull together to tide over the difficulties.

Yes, Your Highness.

I don't agree.

Your Highness, you just had a baby.

And you're weak now.

How can you take charge of the government affairs.

What's your opinion?

This country was found by Abaoji.

The descendants of Abaoji should be the regent.

Moreover, His Majesty is sick now.

Your Highness, you should be more attentive

so that His Majesty can recover as soon as possible.

That's the most important thing.

Yeah.

Yeah, that't right.

Yeah.

That's the most important thing.

In my opinion,

since it's His Majesty's order,

there must be a reason for this.

Mr. Gao, what do you mean?

King Zhao, since it's His Majesty's order,

we should obey it

as officials of Liao.

Obey it?

This is the country found by Abaoji.

As a Southerner, you can't be the regent.

Yes.

It's His Majesty's order.

Are you dissatisfied with

His Majesty's order by saying so?

His Majesty just fainted yesterday.

It's hard to say who gave the order.

His Majesty gave this order himself.

The King of Yan heard it

when he was treating His Majesty.

I can confirm that

His Majesty gave this order himself.

How can we take it seriously?

If the government affairs are delayed,

none of you can afford it.

King Zhao,

you are wrong.

The Queen assisted His Majesty for so long.

And has never made a mistake.

What you said just now

is to doubt Queen's ability

to govern a country.

King Zhao, what's your purpose?

It seems like you hope His Majesty stay sick for a few more days.

So that you can mess up with the court.

You are confusing right and wrong!

You are the plotters!

Your Highness,

you just let them

mess up with the court.

How can you take charge of the government affairs?

How can you convince us?

Why not?

I think...

Our Queen is the best candidate.

You're tring so hard to stop it.

King Zhao, do you want to be the regent?

It's enough!

What King Zhao said makes sense.

I'm not the best person for it.

By contrast,

King Zhao is a more suitable candidate.

He is a descendant of Abaoji.

Under the circumstances,

he will be a better regent than I.

What does it mean?

Yeah.

What does it mean?

Thank you, Your Highness.

I agree.

It's what the people want.

It's in favor with the general public.

But it's a big deal

against the will of His Majesty.

So we shouldn't rush into a decision today.

It's up to His Majesty to decide someday.

King Zhao, what do you think?

Mr. Han is so sensible

and considerate.

Your Highness, I agree with that.

Then...

It's settled.

I will discuss it with His Majesty.

I didn't expect that

he would become the regent.

It's beyond my expectation.

We...

You!

Xiyin King.

We're in trouble.

Xiyin is in power now.

This is something we didn't expect.

Quuen is willing to give up her power.

I smell a rat.

Just forget it.

Xiyin is so vengeful.

We will get into trouble firstly

if he becomes the regent.

He's sure to take his revenge on us.

Relax. It's up in the air now.

Let's discuss it with Crown Prince.

Right.

We need to discuss it with Crown Prince.

Xiyin can't be the regent anyway.

Your Highness, His Majesty ordered Queen

to take charge of the government affairs,

and Prime Minister Gao Xun to assist in court this morning.

King Zhao quarreled with Gao Xun

for the title of regent.

King Zhao? It's impossible.

If there's such a title as the regent,

my king is closest to His Majesty.

Are you sure to do that?

How can you get him on the hook

without giving some baits?

If it works,

we can get rid of Xiyin without killing.

Good idea!

Of course!

I can't suffer for nothing in court.

He won't be happy for long.

Come and take your medicine.

Kuangsi's medical skill

is really excellent.

I agree with that.

But the medicine he prescribed

is too bitter.

I can't take it anymore.

Bitter pills may have welcome effects.

You look so well today.

Thanks to him.

No. No. No. Listen to me.

You presided the meeting alone today.

To be honest,

I was more nervous than you were.

Guess what!

You easily controlled the situation

with a little trickery.

Then...

I think I have no need to

take this bitter medicine.

I can take my time to rest

by handing over the court to you.

I'll be able to skip a few days.

What do you think?

I can't indulge you.

If the King of Yan comes and finds out that

you haven't taken your medicine,

he'll be nagging all the time.

Then give you something more bitter.

Okay, fine!

I will take it.

I can help myself.

Seriously，

I really thought

your strategy was so excellent.

I always knew you were smart

but you still surprised me.

Are you done?

Yeah.

Then finish it.

In fact, Derang also contributed a lot.

He came up with this idea.

Derang left Shangjing City

and came back more sober

and more thoughtful than before.

He knows people more accurately.

He adapted the strategy to Xiyin's character.

and came up with this idea.

Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to

deal with it so easily.

Bro Han is so outstanding indeed.

Derang has some insights into politics.

You must listen to him more

when you get well.

"A show from the sidelines" should be an excellent strategy.

It was just her behavior in court

struck me as a little odd.

In my opinion,

she gave up the power on purpose.

Yeah.

It won't be so easy for Xiyin to be the regent.

Although Mingyi was absent today,

Queen still has a few confidants in court.

None of them stood up for her today.

It means they've already made a deal.

She retreated for the sake of advancing.

I belittled Xiao Yanyan before.

She was more difficult to deal with than I thought.

Crown Prince.

It's not her.

It's Derang who stands by her side

to be an adviser.

Queen always follows his suggestions.

Don't worry.

I can handle him

without too much efforts.

But now,

We need to get rid of Xiyin first.

Yeah.

We're a thorn in his side right now.

We can't let him get ahead.

The reason why Mingyi call me back

is to check and balance Xiyin.

I didn't plan to get rid of Xiyin so soon.

But things are changing now.

I can't wait any longer.

Crown Prince,

you mean...

You've got something on him.

Mingyi is over-scrupulous.

He can do nothing with Xiyin.

But it's easy for me

to get rid of him.

Cheers!

(Xiyin is responsible for the ceremony case.)

(I found a letter from Xiyin)

(in that maid's house.)

(Nüli)

This is a report from Nüli.

He has found out that

the maid who took little prince away

in the ceremony

is Xiyin's henchman.

Nüli found Xiyin's letter

in that maid's house.

Looks like

he really did it

at the ceremony.

Now that we have the evidence,

we can punish him unreservedly.

How about it?

Take it easy.

This is just the beginning.

I won't give him another chance

this time.

Take care.

Mother, take it slowly.

Here.

My legs are getting stiff

in the last two years.

Especially in the winter,

I can't even cross a threshold.

Your father's cough gets worse

at night now.

The winter in Shangjing City is colder.

I don't know if we can make it.

Mother,

don't keep talking about such bad luck.

What do you mean?

You seldom come home.

It's rare for you to be with me

and you think I'm nagging.

Fine. Okay.

If you're happy,

I'll sit here

and listen to you every day.

Good.

At our age,

all our wishes have come true.

As your parents,

you're the only ones we worried about.

Especially you,

work all day and never go home.

You need someone to take care of you.

That's not true.

Many people here can take care of me.

Are you playing dumb with me?

Mother,

it's too hot at noon.

Let's back inside and rest.

As soon as I talk to you about marriage,

you change the topic.

Madam.

Childe.

Mother,

see?

Xinning is here.

He must have something important to report.

We will talk about it later.

Something important?

What I'm discussing with you is the most important.

Mother,

I'll finish my business

with Xinning first.

Then I will talk to you later,

okay?

Whatever!

There's always more to do in court.

You...

When will you take my words to heart

and remember it?

By that time,

your father and I can rest assured.

Madam, take care.

What's wrong?

Childe,

from the scene of Prime Minister Siwen's assassination

and the insoles of the assassin's shoes

in the mortuary,

we found something

after investigation.

Is he a Southerner?

He is a servant of Xiyin's Mansion.

From Liangzhou

where is rich in palm trees.

The products made by palm with great air permeability.

But you can't buy it in Shangjing City.

He is the only one who can

weave palm insoles in Shangjing.

Untie him.

I want to ask him something.

Get up!

Did I do anything wrong?

Your Highness, please forgive me.

Please show me mercy.

I won't punish you

if you tell me the truth.

Tell me.

You are the only one who can

weave palm insoles in Shangjing City.

Is that true?

As far as I know, it's true.

Liangzhou is far away from here.

I brought few palm leaves from my hometown.

The insoles I made

are only for Xiyin King and his family.

They vary in size.

You will certainly go

and measure the guests yourself.

Right.

I will measure the insoles myself

before I make them.

Xinning,

bring out the portrait which the coroner gave us.

Take a look.

Is there anyone you've seen before?

This one?

This one?

How about this one?

Look closely.

I've seen him before.

Are you sure?

He has a scar on his face.

I am sure.

He is under the command of Xiyin King.

Keep an eye on him.

He is the most important witness.

Why are you here? You're still sick.

I'm going out for a walk.

Fine.

Why are you so sad?

What are you talking about?

We found some evidences.

All these evidences directly show that

Xiyin is the mastermind

behind the assassination of you

and the Prime Minister Siwen.

Xiyin?

I finally found the killer.

Yanyan, don't worry.

I...

I will get justice for you.

In my opinion,

there must be something wrong with it.

All the evidences

were discovered overnight.

There must be a conspiracy.

I don't care.

Since it is conclusive,

just arrest Xiyin.

It's time to get rid of him.

Perhaps our strategy worked.

Someone had the evidences already.

But he kept it a secret for some reason.

Now he's giving the evidences

to stop Xiyin from becoming the regent.

I'm afraid that

this man has his own purpose.

It matters a great deal.

Remember!

You have to look before you leap.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Xiyin has the military power.

We should not take any risks.

We can arrest him first

and then pronounce his crime.

Okay.

Mr. Han,

don't hurt Wuguli and Liulishou.

Yes, Your Highness.

Your Highness,

you will be the real regent

tomorrow morning.

Congratulations!

The Queen finally realized that

the regent was not for a woman.

She really compared herself to the Empress Dowager Shulü.

Go away.

My good girl.

You're just in time!

Cheers!

Get out of here!

Right.

Get out of here!

Get out! Get out!

Get out of here!

Get out!

Salan, Get out!

Let's go.

Yanyan has been fighting with me

for the title of regent.

She overrated herself.

Shut up!

Fine.

I am so happy today.

I will not speak ill of her.

I am so happy today.

Come here, my good girl.

Have a drink with me.

No!

Xiyin,

Yanyan has made you the regent.

Don't get carried away.

You!

My good girl,

you really don't know

what does it mean.

Bring me some wine! Hurry up!

My good girl,

you are back.

I know...

I know you love me.

Han Derang,

are you here to read the announcement?

Close down the palace!

What?

Close down my palace? How dare you!

It's my palace!

According to His Majesty,

King Zhao is going to be imprisoned here.

He can't leave without permission.

Imprison me?

How dare you!

Let me go!

How dare you!

Do you want to die?

How can you treat me so rudely?

Bastards!

Let me go!

Imprison me?

Mingyi!

Your Highness,

something happened in the King of Zhao Palace.

What's wrong?

The King of Zhao Palace has been closed down.

It's said that

King Zhao is imprisoned by His Majesty.

What's going on?

Perhaps his assassination

of His Majesty was exposed.

Such a silly!

Xiyin is already under close supervision.

We have solid evidences.

So the royal members

didn't respond for now.

They are just waiting.

They want to know what His Majesty will do with him.

Do you have any Suggestions?

After all,

Xiyin belongs to the Taizu Family.

Only His Majesty

can decide his punishment.

Gao Xuan and Nüli

are volunteered to investigate this case.

I gave them the permission.

They used to be very close to Xiyin.

But start to blame each other

when something goes wrong.

Mr. Han, thanks to you.

We can took down Xiyin

without killing.

I really appreciate you.

I just did what I should have done.
