Episode 36

Qingliu!

Are you alright?

Qingliu!

Don’t scare me, Qingliu!

Qingliu!

I’m not dead yet.

Why are you so stubborn?

I told you to let go of me.

Without you,

what’s the point of living?

Wait.

I still have the antidote,

but maybe it won’t work.

Try it and we’ll see.

I’m poisoned already.

If it worked, that’d be perfect.

If not,

I’ll battle poison with poison.

Don’t joke about your life.

I’d like to try my luck.

With you here,

I bet luck is on my side.

Master!

Prince!

Look carefully.

Yes.

Master!

Master Long!

Why would anyone come here?

This is the place on the map

Master Long brought back.

Check every corner.

Master!

Prince!

Master!

- Minister. - Master Long!

- All taken care of. - Prince!

Prince!

Miss!

They seem to work for the court.

Master Long!

How did they

get to this place in the middle of nowhere?

Calm down.

Now that they’re here,

let’s play with them.

Miss!

- The dead can’t speak. - Master Long!

So

the cause of all this

is that

- Prince Zhao intended to

- take revenge for Consort De. - Miss!

But what if they don’t buy it?

If not,

their lives end here.

Master Long!

Prince!

- Miss! - Master Long!

General Lyu. General Lyu.

Minister Yuan?

I was wondering whose force is that.

So it’s yours.

Two princes went missing.

I followed the leads here.

Minister,

what brings you here?

Long story.

Prince Zhao lured Prince Jun

and Master Long here.

I found out about it

and followed them here to stop them.

Unfortunately, two princes

and Master Long...

What?

This belongs to Prince Zhao.

- Miss! - Prince!

Follow me and see for yourselves.

After you, Minister.

Master!

Master!

Master! Master!

- Prince! - Miss!

There you are, Miss.

Prince!

I’m surprised you’re still alive.

Before the wedding ceremony,

I asked General Lyu and his men

to monitor Yuan Zai’s every move.

I’m sure

they’re on the way as we speak.

I’ve shown the map to him.

Right now, we’re in a pit

filled by poisonous insects.

Hold on.

I don’t see any insects,

let alone the poisonous ones.

Look, Long.

Let’s go.

Alright.

Be careful!

So this is Prince Zhao’s plan all along.

What do you mean?

Aren’t you two in cahoots?

Prince Zhao

took you here on the excuse of

getting the Water Routes Map,

but actually,

he meant to expose my secret base.

He almost fooled me.

I underestimated him.

Where is he?

He chose love

over power

and opened the door to help you escape.

How stupid!

What’s worse,

he tried to kill me.

So I had to get rid of him.

What?

You killed him?

Let him go,

and you’re safe.

No!

Don’t be stubborn. Let go now!

No!

I’ll die with you.

Fine.

You’ll get what you wish for.

That was all part of his plan.

He volunteered to help that old bastard

to kill him at the cost of his own life.

He never lied to me,

but I didn’t believe him.

To avenge his

and my master’s murder,

Yuan Zai,

I’ll kill you!

Long!

Long!

You fool!

You want to kill me?

Don’t forget

whose place this is.

Prince Zhao’s plan failed.

Today,

none of you can leave.

Consort De,

my master,

Xiaozhao,

all of them died in your hands.

And now, you want General Lyu,

Yan Bin, Xiaoqin,

Qingliu and me dead, too,

as well as these guards

and your people in the woods.

Yuan Zai,

even if we all die,

you still won’t stop.

Don’t try to buy yourself more time.

Forget about escaping.

Escape?

Why should I escape?

Tang’s prosperity lies in

the comfortable lives people are living.

But you

disregard national interests

and sacrifice people’s livelihood for your own benefit.

Although my life

means little,

soon, my family

and all your family members

will all die because of him.

Shoot!

People are born equal.

No one is superior or inferior to others,

or divided into the higher or lower class.

Shoot!

I’m upholding justice.

Shoot!

What are they waiting for?

What touched off the war in the north

is simply personal interests.

Grains transported to Chang’an

by water to relieve the famine

You’re greedy and immoral.

The longer you stay,

the more people and the state will suffer.

Uphold justice!

Uphold justice!

Minister, what to do?

Uphold justice!

Uphold justice!

Uphold justice!

Uphold justice!

- Go! - Uphold justice!

No sign of him here.

Split up and find him.

Oh, no, we lost him.

Why are there so many peach trees?

Be careful!

Heaven three, earth six.

Does this match the 64 hexagrams?

Peach trees.

It is indeed the Eight Trigrams of Heaven.

The Gate of Water is the exit.

Over there. Let’s go.

Who’d know a cave would be found

at the end of the peach forest?

Qingliu, look.

Fabrics, salt, pepper and metal.

He’s a hoarder of treasures.

This is his vault.

All these are rare to be found.

He must’ve bought off the whole supply chain

to accumulate so much salt and iron.

And now,

he’s eager to control the water, too.

Once he’s in charge of

all key business channels,

chaos will surely rise.

Your master taught you well.

Even my peach formation couldn’t stop you.

As fancy as it sounds,

it used the Eight Trigrams of Heaven.

Trigram 2 Lake indicates west.

Trigram 7 Mountain indicates northeast.

Trigram 3 fire points south.

Trigram 6 Water points north.

It’s easy to crack.

Very well.

How about this?

Your master is gone.

Why don’t you join me?

I’ll teach you everything I know.

Then

you can gain

whatever you want.

You’ve reached a dead end.

Stop trying to manipulate me.

Why didn’t you escape

but hid here instead?

Because of your treasures?

I’m here for you two,

you know.

This place is stuffed with explosives.

Once they explode,

the whole city will see the smoke.

Then my people

will poison

every well in the city.

You’re crazy!

You’re dragging them

all down with you.

Them?

to the widely acclaimed Prime Minister.

I’m not pathetic,

but you are.

Prince Jun,

you won’t get the antidote.

What do you mean?

Hasn’t his poison been removed?

Hey!

General,

these are the ones left.

Take them back,

except Qin Liang.

Yes.

- Move! - Go! Hurry!

so I’m at your disposal.

Qin Liang,

Xiaoqin.

Xiaoqin.

- Miss. - Prince.

Are you alright?

It’s fine.

Yuan Zai is dead.

Qin Liang, tell me,

is the antidote Qingliu took fake?

It’s not.

Then why is he still poisoned?

There are two pills

and he only took one.

The first one could only relieve his pain,

and now, the poison is acting up again.

Where’s the other pill?

Minister Yuan had it.

We’ve searched him

but found nothing.

Relax.

There must be physicians in the city

who can cure me.

The court begins!

Long live Your Majesty!

All rise!

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Send in Guarding General

and Miss Long Aoyi.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Rise.

Your Majesty,

this is rebel Yuan Zai’s personal guard.

He’s confessed all that

Yuan Zai committed.

Good.

Your Majesty,

here are fingerprints

of Yuan Zai’s personal troops.

They only worked for him

for money

and they’ve promised to observe the law.

Please be lenient with them.

Miss Long,

you’ve been expelled

from the palace for deception.

And here you are

begging for leniency for others?

Father,

she helped wipe out the rebels.

Please have mercy on her.

I shouldn’t have driven you mad

that you fell ill.

I’m guilty.

Please punish me.

I’m fine the entire time.

You did nothing wrong.

Actually,

I’m aware of

Yuan Zai’s evil deeds.

His Majesty is wise.

He took bribes,

ganged up on others for personal gains

and framed loyal officials.

How did you know that, Father?

You’re the head of Buyu Pavilion.

Buyu Pavilion seems to be a gambling house,

but actually,

it serves as an intelligence agency

I set up for Your Majesty

and the state.

From confidential affairs

to officials’ every move,

everything is under my watch.

Given that Yuan Zai

contributed the most to anti-corruption back then,

I gave him a chance to live,

but he gave that away.

I had received the tip-off long ago

that he planned to build his own palace and city,

but

he was too cunning.

I didn’t have

anything concrete on him.

So when Prince Jun

asked guards to keep an eye on him,

I gave them permission in secret.

Yes, Your Majesty.

I faked my illness

to lower his guard down.

Prince Jun, Miss Long,

you should be rewarded

for your action.

My poor son Prince Zhao

pretended to work with Yuan Zai,

but sadly, lost his life.

Minister of Rites.

Yes.

Pass my order.

The sixth prince Li Zhao

was a strategist

and a noble man,

thus shall be conferred the title of Mingxin

and buried in the imperial mausoleum.

Yes.

I’ll see to it carefully.

Miss Long,

Yuan Zai has met his doom.

I’ll reorganize the court

for the stability and prosperity of the state.

Miss Long,

do you understand?

Yes.

His Majesty is really something.

He’s been watching it the entire time.

Father did

plan out everything.

We went inside

Yuan Zai’s base

and found this next to Prince Zhao’s body.

It has

nothing to do with the imperial family.

I’m sure His Majesty won’t mind.

You’re a prince of Tang.

This carp is for you.

This is incredible.

I gave it to him as a gift,

but I didn’t know he’d carry it all the time.

Prince Jun’s Mansion

Why are you wearing a red dress?

Are you going to be a bride?

Xiaoxian.

There you are.

Who is he?

Him?

He’s also your friend.

He won’t hurt you.

We brought you

pork hock from the chain store.

You said you liked it last time,

so I bought some more.

Take this.

I learned a new dance.

Let me show you.

Sure.

Although she’s pardoned

for poisoning Crown Prince,

she’s still punished.

She lost all her memory.

She’s no longer hostile towards me,

but she still doesn’t remember you.

I guess

subconsciously,

she means to forget you.

She used to be astute,

but now,

she acts like a naive girl.

If forgetting me

can help her start over

to lead a simple and easy life,

that’s not too bad.
