The first day of the Pacific War

That day saw a new chapter written in
the history of air warfare.

The dawn of a brilliant new fighter plane,
the “Zero",

able to cross the China Sea and raid the
American bases in the Philippines.

The American Air Force that had
dominated the Pacific for so long...

...was destroyed in a day.

Japan had won
the battle for the air.

Complete victory had been achieved
through a combination of surprise...

of the “Zero“

This new airplane fascinated us,

and was the reason we had joined
the Navy in the first piece.

was a hard task master.

Dreams of becoming a fighter pilot

as the young recruits were put through
the rigor of military discipline.

The strict code of the imperial
Japanese Navy was drummed into them.
